Reviews for Univea Appart-hôtel Saint Nazaire
Review 1:A large studio modified from student accommodation so not a perfect layout for a couple but nothing wrong. Two hot plates and a microwave ok for cooking dinner. Good wifi.
Review 2:The parking is great, but the process of checking in while your car is left outside on a buzy street would put me off going here. I drove up and down looking for a space so i could check in, eventually dumping my car and family illegaly parked while i checked in. The car park is around the block underground, somthing you learn after check in.
Review 3:The lady on the desk was super helpfull phoning dominos for us, and was just a plesant person. Apartment was nice for what we paid.
Review 4:The check in took about 40 minutes with our husbands outside on their motorcycles in very hot conditions, not knowing where to park. Then the rooms turned out to be a single bed, with a pull out drawer for the second person. As we are pensioners, it was not ideal. The pull out drawer was not an option for us, so we had to sleep in the single bed. Sleep quality is of paramount importance, and this was an awful experience.
Review 5:the location is good for visiting the U-boat pens which was the purpose of our visit, and breakfast was fine, when we had finally found where it was served.
Review 6:My only gripe is that I did forget to clear the fridge but was not contacted to ask me if I wanted any of it returned. Small thing but a call to let me know would have been appreciated.
Review 7:It was local to shops and the football ground which was our prime objective for that particular weekend. A good comfortable room although the kitchen could do with a kettle and a teapot.
Review 8:The bed was not made so we had to complain. To their credit we were immediately given an upgrade: appartment instead of studio.
Review 9:The 50% discount made the room about the right value for money option. Great to have a swimming pool even though small and in shade in the morning and only opens at 9am
Review 10:heavy blankets on beds,, have the French not heard about quilts. Room door was a bad fit, wind whistle all the time, good job there was also an inner door.
Review 11:Location was not as expected -looked poorly maintained on outside of building at the rear. Expected the pool to be in a centralised area at the rear instead it was on a raised level at the side -unappealing. Microwave oven is insufficient - expect to have a full oven for cost of stay. rooms clean but dated. View to rear is very poor. smoking by neighbours on their balcony enters your room so have to keep doors shut sometimes. Noise from neighbouring properties not so good. WIFI not good service -kept dropping out. staff were fine on a whole -attended to our requests. Smell of bins inside the storage area very bad. Enclosed Parking area needs work - we pay to be in an enclosed area but its gravel and untidy/unattractive. There are very few brochures in English. Would have been nice to have a welcome pack (in English) to give us local information and ideas for making the most of our stay in the area. It was on a whole emotionally hard work for a holiday we travelled 16 hours to!
Review 12:Staff were fine. Being with my family!
Review 13:The smell in the kitchen was pungent. We did not use this area as we were only staying one night.
Review 14:Good location for about town. Apartment was spacious but dated.
Review 15:Free internet is available. I could imagine that when the hotel is full, the capacity of the internet is not sufficiënt.
Review 16:Fine location. Not to far from the shopping center, restaurants and harbour. Good comfort room with the facilities you need. Real value for money. I stayed a week and being gold card holder of several hotel chains i had no day of regret that I choosed this hotel.
Review 17:Quiet and relaxing for a short break. Staff friendly and helpful, location convenient for shops and restaurants and short walk to beach and long promenade - ideal for walkers.
Review 18:St Nazaire doesn't offer much but is well located for exploring the area and great beaches at Pornichet and La Balle
Review 19:Parking was secure and easy Room had AC and all the comforts Cheap and cheerful and would recommend value for money.
Review 20:Check in wasn't until 4pm and then we had to wait for a further 10 minutes while cleaner completed her duties. Check out very early at 10am.
Review 21:Modern, clean, nice place to sit and relax outside, good pool, Reception staff spoke english. Lovely good sized rooms with good facilities.
Review 22:Poor but enough to browse wi-fi.
Review 23:Good localization, close to many pubs and restaurants. Bulangerie just accross the street - awesome mandel croissants.
Review 24:Wifi could have been more effective and it would have helped to have access to codes for more than one devise - impractical for a family!
Review 25:A no nonsense efficient hotel with self catering facilities and a laundry. Excellent for a road trip.
Review 26:In need of updating.
Review 27:We wanted accommodation with space having just cycled the EV6 and the apartment gave us that as there was a separate living area. Clean but in need of updating. Accommodating staff as we couldn't get wifi in our initial room so we were moved.
Review 28:Would like treadmill..would like towels replaced and bin emptied and more Lou roll even though it was residential stay some quick clean would have been nice.
Review 29:The pool area garden and breakfast and Nespresso machine. Staff were very competent
Review 30:The water quality of the swimming pool (red 5 days). The wifi is not working some times The floor in the studio was not cleaning good by arrival.
Review 31:The parking from the car. 10min to walk to the train station 15 min to walk to the center of the city. 25 min to walk to the sea. Two bakers around the hotel A supermarket 15 min to walk and a commercial center 10 minutes with the car. The kitchen corner - a good fridge Quiet rooms A spacius studio
Review 32:The apartments are very small for an extended stay and the pool is very small. Ok for a quick cool off.
Review 33:We stayed one night on the way north and it was fine for what we needed.
Review 34:We arrived in St Nazaire by ferry and had a one night stay in Univea Appart-hotel St Nazaire before driving on to our campsite. The accommodation was good value for money. The wi-fi was good (bit patchy at times) but after 22 hours on a boat with no wi-fi the kids were delighted.
Review 35:Wifi kept dropping out and the aircon was a laugh. Had to open windows and the mozzies came in. It was a bit 70s and basic.
Review 36:It was central. It was spacious, a sitting room with. Kitchen and balcony. No kettle in kitchen though.good valued or money, I think and maybe i would stay again. Not sure.
Review 37:The adjoining family room with pull out sofa beds was not comfortable; hardly enough floor space to have the two beds out! The room was not clean & stank of cigarette smoke; the room looked out on to the back verandas of the other hotel rooms where guests were permanently smoking! The room lock was broken and staff had to let us in our room. Wi fi was very slow.
Review 38:Good location value for money
Review 39:all good
Review 40:Balcony dirty with fag ends.pool extremely small WiFi poor.
Review 41:Close to shopping, bars and so
Review 42:It's well located if you want to get in or out of the city but not well locate if you want to see the city.
Review 43:The court yard needs a Gardner bad. The looks of it drag your whole hotel down.
Review 44:Clean very large room for all of us.
Review 45:Wi-Fi was avalaible only in reception.
Review 46:Hotel is very close to train station (like 5-10 min) and staff was very friendly.
Review 47:Wi fi poor
Review 48:Price
Review 49:Helpful Staff. Good parking facilities.
Review 50:location is perfect and value for money
Review 51:Staff not at all friendly, rubbish bins not emptied.
Review 52:Good price, large rooms.
Review 53:Very bad wifi- coverage need some paint expensive parking smaller room than expected
Review 54:friendy staff
Review 55:Breakfast was relatively expensive
Review 56:Large spacious rooms, a fridge and separate sleeping facilities for kid/parents. Separate loo.
Review 57:Need children play area Need recycling facility
Review 58:Very friendly and helpful staffs Super accommdation quality for good price
Review 59:Value for money. Well-equipped suite and shower room.
Review 60:Sleeping accommodation, the pull out bed was very uncomfortable and difficult getting in and out, in this studio unit.
Review 61:location to town and train
Review 62:Wifi is not good, because now a days everybody is doing there transactions through internet, so it is better to increase wifi facilities.
Review 63:Very nice stay, staffs are very kind and very helping persons, and i didnt face any language problem because they know very well english language.
Review 66:Wifi was very very very slow, they admit that is already like that from the begin August. Breakfast yes or no , you have to tell them the evening before, even the suites are small
Review 67:niets speciaal
Review 68:It wasn't private at all, if we had stayed there more than a night we couldn't have opened any window because they were doors to a corridor full of people. There should be a kettle and at least a couple of mugs. Wi-Fi wasn't very good, we couldn't even download the paper.
Review 69:The apartment was very big and it had a fridge.
Review 70:Cost of breakfast (not that we paid for it) was very high. Cups in the room were espresso size so had to have three cups in the morning!
Review 71:Size of the suite for a family of 4 much better than budget hotels, also the kitchenette allows you to make own hot drinks, meals etc and having a fridge is very helpful. Separate rooms for the adults and children was also good. Free use of the swimming pool was ideal for the kids. Great vaule!
Review 72:Our room had obviously not been cleaned for days, there was still rubbish in the bin, under the beds, the floor was dirty with long hair, sweet papers and other dirt on the floor. There were empty shampoo/soap dispensers. The set up in the kitchenette was very odd, no cutlery or kettle???? We were initially told at reception there were no secure car spaces left however a later request by my infirm father in law proved successful (the car park was actually virtually empty!). The reception later explained that they couldn't leave the desk to find out. We have stayed in many hotels on route to holiday destinations in France and this was certainly the worst by far.
Review 73:Nothing
Review 74:The woman at the reception seemed to take a certain delight in informing me that I had booked the accommodation " sans menage". I would have cheerfully paid a supplement to have had cleaning and clean towels but was not given the opportunity to do so. Also, taking one's rubbish down to an underground spooky garage every day isn't a holiday activity. The swimming pool is very small. I didn't use it. Basically they fulfilled their brief but only just!
Review 75:The central location was very good and the room was quiet with a lovely view over the town. My bed was very comfortable and the room was clean. If only things had been more stylish and friendlier. The local beaches are outstanding. If they get their act together a bit more they could do really well.
Review 76:not clean - under bed dust from months, A/C working but very low efficient, only french channels in tv, water in bay is muddy - better to take a hotel near ocean
Review 77:price, tv, fully equipped kitchen, bathroom very clean and tidy, nice and quite place.
Review 78:I kept forgetting to tell the desk clerk that we wanted breakfast untilwe were going to bed the night before, but they didn't seem to mindthe late notice.
Review 79:The staff was very friendly and spoke excellent English to us. Breakfastwas included in the room rate, although you had to tell the front deskthe day before that you wanted to have breakfast. Location was veryclose to downtown which has lots of shops and restaurants. We didn'tuse the pool, but there was an outdoor pool.
Review 80:Cheapest hotel we came across during a 9 day cycle tour trip of Franceand was easily the highest standard with the most space! Unbelievablevalue for money, very large hotel room with small kitchenette, balcony, separate double bedroom and single bed with slide out bed. Very highquality fixtures and fittings. Would highly recommend and may be back inthe future if I'm in Saint Nazaire again!
Review 81:Morning Staff - lectured me about the procedures they use chargecustomers - I already have vast knowledge of the banking procedures, asI've worked in that area. I don't need to be stood there andlectured to, then dismissed (a tad 1940's ???).
Review 82:Didn't like much about this hotel really. The reception area"looks" nice and welcoming, but that's it.
Review 83:House Keeping. Bed were not done regularly. I believe might have been a policy, not sure. Towels were not changed. Would have preferred a place where the room was maintained by hotels housekeeping staff.
Review 84:Was an excellent venue. The place was very comfortable and the staff was very professional.
Review 85:Rooms too functional Staff a bit distant even though we tried to speak French to them
Review 86:Proximity to facilities in town

Review 89:Nothing to dislike
Review 90:Friendliness of the staff

Review 97:Intermittent wifi
Review 98:Quiet and relaxing

Review 101:poor wi-fi connection, ban smell in the room/studio, no every-day cleaning service, unfriendly stuff
Review 102:Poor wifi
Review 103:Location
Review 104:As an Aparthotel I would have expected at a minimum an electric kettle in the kitchenette and perhaps a toaster
Review 105:Convenience to centre of city
