Reviews for St. George's Lodge

Review 1:Not the Ritz, but what can you expect for £55 a night in London. staff friendly enough, didn't do breakfast, it finished at 8.30. Bit early for me after a night out, however the manager did knock on my door at 8.45 to see if I wanted some.

Review 2:Hardly slept because of noisy and light-polluted room at the front of the building. Tired decor, carpet etc. Why the early morning knock on the door - not requested!

Review 3:Good breakfast. Good wifi. Warm and good shower, even if the fittings were 'tired'.

Review 4:The place is so small that it was hard to find - we drove past it 3-4 times. No one was at reception so had to ring for someone to come down. Said parking would be available - when we got there, they guy told us to park somewhere on one of the side streets. We had no electricity in our room and the guy was not sure when it would be back on, we needed to go to party so we had to shower & get ready in the dark and I had to leave my hair wet (it was freezing cold outside). We were offered no breakfast the next day even though it said the room came with breakfast. The room smelt bad.

Review 5:Poor location, picture of building on the site doesn't match up. Old mattress which was really hard to sleep on due to the springs. The place smelled of curry. Was woken up 3 times by an alarm in the room which came on that we never asked to be set.

Review 6:Rung on the day to be told the room I booked wasn't available due to "plumbers being in" - on a Saturday night. Offered alternative accommodation a couple of miles away but at such short notice with only an hour's turnaround between the two plays I had booked to see this was a real pain as I wasted time trying to find the other place by bicycle in driving rain. As I passed The George there was no sign of the supposed plumbers, rather they were busy booking in two parties of people. Very disappointed, would not use again under any circumstances.

Review 7:N/A

Review 8:Friendly service, clean room with decent facilities. Nice breakfast. I stayed over for a gig down the road. Good latenight transport links to the terminus. I would stay again

Review 9:Early breakfast for a Sunday morning - finished at 8am. Although the staff member did offer us something as we left which we declined

Review 10:Very pleasant and helpful staff

Review 11:Being asked what time we wanted a "wake up call" telling them half past 8, and actually being woken up twice before it was even 8 am! Why ask?!?! Eating Breakfast with the guy cooking right next to you in the kitchen!

Review 12:location to Twickenham Rugby Stadium was ideal,

Review 13:Aircon unit outside my room (9) kept starting up ever hour over night and every 15 mins early morning

Review 14:Parking on road but free, Breakfast good, relatively easy to find. Staff friendly

Review 15:Door didn't lock, toilet wouldn't flush, breakfast wasn't very nice. Advised breakfast was at 8, subsequently knocking on the door at 7:30

Review 16:Friendly staff, good location

Review 17:Lodge is not as it appears on website!! Pokey little room on 2nd floornext to takeaway, no parking. Left after one hour, could not spend thenight in that room and drove home, felt conned.

Review 18:Location for Chessington W.oa. Is good.

Review 19:No Lift.Very narrow and steep stairs. No breakfast after 8am.Plaster falling off walls. Shower and toilet built worlds worst handy man.View from window an eyesore.Booked out a day early.

Review 20:Nothing

Review 21:Breakfast was a bit spartan, instant coffee, UHT milk, single box of cornflakes, sitting on a breakfast bar facing the wall. Was asked to pay cash on arrival cos card machine wasn't working, looking through the reviews it would seem this is a regular occurrence, good job nobody from the inland revenue has stayed there.

Review 22:Friendly owner

Review 23:The manager was very helpful and friendly. He made sure we had everything we needed for our stay even bringing an extra fan and an ice cold carton of juice on the hottest day of the year. Very comfortable but simple room. All we needed.

Review 24:Although the rooms were clean, the shower rooms really need up dating. To flush the loo in one of the rooms you needed to be tall!

Review 25:The staff were friendly

Review 26:Smelly Rooms, no day room, dirty toilet and showers, fresh water in thejugs had limescale inside them. Didn't change towels in 4 days.

Review 27:Not a lot. GOiNG home

Review 28:Building.not as described in website.room disgusting.bed too small for two people.makeshift on suite in room behind a wooden panel.curtain fell down when closing.breakfast area terrible.boxed milk with cereal.2 slices of white toast and a black banana presented.would not even have tried fry.left after this.

Review 29:Nothing at all

Review 30:Cleanliness of shower.(Didn't use)No coat hangers provided.Located next to Korean restaurants which provided constant smell of cooking.

Review 31:Very good breakfast.

Review 32:Continental breakfast was very basic (white bread and instant coffee). The room and bathroom were not very clean and the bathroom was quite tatty, especially the shower which only ran like a tap. The twin room was pretty small for two adults to share.

Review 33:The staff were very friendly and helpful and we were made to feel very welcome. The room and hotel were reasonably quiet. The price was reasonable for the area.

Review 34:Owing to unforeseen circumstances I had to cancel this booking and phoned the hotel one week before and informed them, however they still charged my account for the full amount and possibly relet the room. Not happy with this system. J. Peverel-Cooper

Review 35:The room was very basic. My biggest moan was that the bed was only a small double. Most hotels have at least 5 foot wide beds.

Review 36:The price and the friendliness of the staff. Wifi was excellent

Review 37:The pictures showed a larger building than it actually was, it showed a restaurant that was next door mainly. It was booked as room that slept 3, as there was no other available. however it stated a double bed and a single. on arrival the 3 beds were completely separate

Review 38:The gentleman in charge was very friendly.

Review 39:Being woken up to be told breakfast is ready. Had 3 beds in a room, but 1 bed was a makeshift bed, the mattress was hanging over the sides and felt like I was falling through the night. I am disabled and sent an enquiry to them, but never had a reply, so we had a room in the roof. 3 steep and narrow stair case to climb. You heard the next room going to the toilet. The shower was filthy, rust in the shower and had to kneel down to shower as the water would not come out unless it was waist height. Breakfast was ok apart from fruit flies on the condiments and eggs on top of the sauce bottles, when i mention this they changed the lid only as when we put the sauce on our breakfast, 5 dead flies came out, but still flying around our heads. I could accept this I it was summer, but the 5th dec is not good.

Review 40:It was dirty, the pictures on the web misleading, woken up early on Sundaymorning to have breakfast, the draws in the room had condoms and lub inthem the whole place was filthy

Review 41:The sink is too small. There is hardly enough space for my head to bend down to spill water into the sink. The quilt is too small to feel right.

Review 42:The staff was nice and polite. The breakfast was good. The coffee was very good.

Review 43:Inadequate basin for a shave. No tables for breakfast just a long shelf which left you staring at the wall. Most odd. Ancient mattress, I felt every spring.

Review 44:Breakfast at 6.30.The Staff were friendly they made me feel welcome. Good breakfast with ample fresh orange juice. Attentive .Hotel was quiet inside. There were clean towels every day. It was adequate for my needs as I was working.

Review 45:It was dirty, the carpets in the entrance, stairs were dirty and nothoovered. The rooms were dingy. The bathroom was dirty, the showerdidn't work unless you put it low down (as demonstrated by themanager). The shower tray was dirty, there was huge blocks of polyfillaaround the shower tap, the toilet didn't flush properly. Thebreakfast area was grubby. I expected a lot better for what we paid! Iam sorry, but the prices charged £165 for 2 rooms is a hotel price, infact we walked out from here and paid £173 for the Jury's Inn Hotel. The picture advertised for St George's is not true. It looks nothinglike that, which is why we drove past it 5 times! It is a quarter of thewidth of the photo and should not be sold as this at all. I should havedemanded a refund!! Not happy at all, very disappointed.

Review 46:The manager that greeted us was about it.

Review 47:Deceptive description & pictures. Tiny room & shower facilities with just a curtain between the shower & the bedroom. Was so disgusted did'nt stay with hairs in the bed once sheets pulled back. As the room was already paid for we left without staying & booked into a different hotel far better for just £2 / night more.

Review 48:A charming gentleman runs the place, it is clean and noisy guests aren't tolerated. It is budget accommodation so don't stay here if you're looking for luxuries.

Review 49:The room was dirty and smelt of stale cooking. The bedroom was poorly furnished with dirty curtains, a thick cob web on the window, overlooking a dirty, scruffy yard. There were refreshments facilities but with a jug of uncovered water. The toilet and sink was very tiny, could hardly move, and a very small shower cubicle opening onto the bedroom. The room was very noisy as it was adjacent to the breakfast room and a window above the door let in light all night. I cannot comment on the breakfast as I thought it safer not to have any, although I was wokjen at 7am on the first morning to tell me that breakfast was available. I would not recommended this accommodation.

Review 50:Free wifi

Review 51:The only negative, was that the sink in the toilet was too small.

Review 52:The toilet and shower were pretty tired. Needs some improvements.

Review 75:The cooked breakfast.

Review 76:Not so fare ti Kingstone center

Review 77:just a night sleeping no need to complain

Review 78:not bad

Review 79:The cost ofthe room didn't warrant the stay as not like pictures yousee on website. Would not pay £10 per night

Review 80:It was slightly quirky and pleasantly surprising

Review 81:I loved how the staffs were so nice. The rooms are comfortable and the toilet is well cleaned up but we need to keep silent for other travellers.

Review 102:Not very clean. Bedding and towels had holes. lots of road noise. Damp.

Review 103:Staff were relaxed.

Review 104:The bed was very uncomfortable The shower was vary small

Review 105:Small rooms and had to ring a mobile number to get in the door when checking in.

Review 106:Handy location for Wimbledon.

Review 107:Breakfast room could do with a massive up to date they were reluctant to take a credit card and when they did got it wrong

Review 108:Website discription is nothing like what you actualy get. Could be classed as false advertising at its very best.

Review 109:Owner and manager very freindly.

Review 110:Photograph misleading. St Georges Lodge is only part of the building shown. UHT Milk!!

Review 111:Friendly Clean and quiet.

Review 112:Location; Having to pay cash for room as there was no card facility; being woken at 7.00am to be told breakfast was ready and reminded again at 7.30.

Review 113:Breakfast was very good value Various dislikes but suppose it was reasonable value for what we paid

Review 114:The place was filthy, unorganised and not particularly helpful, in fact at times downright rude. We asked for our money back on the twin room and slept in the car, that's how bad it was. When I said how poor the standard was they said they hadn't hoovered yet, unfortunately hoovers do not perform miracles.

Review 115:The only thing I liked was the fact I was seeing my son.

Review 116:Room was in poor state of repair, shelves hanging off wall, lights didn't work. Window and net curtain dirty. Shower did not work. Breakfast, well woken up to tell me breakfast was ready at 7. Sat on breakfast stools looking at wall. Could not eat food. It was dire.

Review 117:They made an effort with the kux soap.

Review 118:Basic. Tired and shabby. bait cramped. Needs redecorating throughout. No easy chair in room and no lounge area; therefore not a suitable place to do more than sleep, shower and change. Coffee at breakfast is instant and the only bread is white sliced. WiFi worked in dining room but not in bedroom.

Review 119:Well located. Not over-priced. Excellent shower. Courteous and helpful proprietor.

Review 120:The hotel is cleanish but very student accommodation-y. There were two towels hung above the door to keep the light out and the bed isn't a double but 3/4. The hotel staff knock on your door at 8am until you wake up so don't go if you want a lie in. The breakfast was included in the price but as I couldn't bring myself to eat in the cafe style room. Wouldn't go there again

Review 121:The staff were lovely and friendly.

Review 122:The rooms advertised was not the room we had. The carpet wasnt hoovered. The beds were very uncomfortable. Curtains were dirty. The ensuite bathroom wasnt finished. Room 10 was not a very nice room. Basically what the internet showed was the complete opposite of what we got. Standards need to change with this property.

Review 123:The location was handy for what we wanted which was close to the railway station and high street. The Breakfast was freshly prepared and freshly cooked and well done. Very nice.
