Reviews for The Shores Hotel
Review 1:some Info in brochure left in bedroom was out of date. Booked a table for New Years Eve, that was recommended in the brochure, only to arrive and be told that the restaurant was no longer at that hotel. Staff did not know where it had moved to.
Review 2:good hotel in central position. Very clean. Friendly staff. Excellent value for money
Review 3:We had no complaints
Review 4:We were made to feel at home the minute we walked in. We got loads of useful information. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was well cooked and plentiful, and everywhere was clean and spotless
Review 5:Owners/staff very helpful and friendly. Rooms clean and location near all facilities. Food excellent. Bar open at night for people to sit in and have a drink.
Review 6:The tv only having a few channels but that might have been down to the bad weather,
Review 7:I liked the feel of the place comfy and homely. Easy free parking in the street. The breakfast was all laid out easy for my kids to get at for themselves.Hair dryer and straighteners was a nice touch in room.
Review 8:Bedroom for a double was small and in much need of a refurb on suite was very tired and dated looked unclean and unloved
Review 9:Location was very good lovely people ran the guest house very helpful and friendly
Review 10:Fairly basic. Breakfast OK but not great. Bar was closed whilst I was there. Room heating only seemed to work at certain times.
Review 11:friendly staff, clean room. Good for the price
Review 12:nothing
Review 13:Very accomadating clean room lovely set out for kids and private room incorporated for adults lovely furnishings tv in both rooms visited with 2 daults 2 teenagers and 2 toddlers highly recommended would definately stay again
Review 14:We arrived at 3.30pm ish and had to wait 20mins b4 our room was free, check in was from 2pm and check out was 10 or 10.30 am, I thought this would of been ample time to clean the rooms ready for next guests. Then our room was cleaned while we waited which seemed very quick and didn't give me much faith in it being cleaned properly. The pack in the bedroom was very off putting highlighting charges for things such as drink spilage on carpets, beds ect the list went on. Although are children are 5 7 and 12 we felt abit on edge and couldn't really relax. Room was also quite small. There was also a stain on the bottom sheet which had been clean but still abit off putting. There was only 1hour window for breakfast which meant we had to wait one morning for a table to become available.
Review 15:Very nice staff. Generally very clean. Hairdryer and straightness in room. Breakfast was nice. Good location
Review 16:Tired rooms. Decor needed up dating beds very basic matresses not comfortable didn't really sleep for 2 nights. So I was as tired as the room unfortunately
Review 17:Breakfast v good for budget guest house...everything within walking distance .plenty of free parking outside premises
Review 18:The only problem I had was parking, no fault of the hotel.
Review 19:Loved the double room inside a triple for the kids. With the safety lock on their door I had privacy and peace of mind, brilliant xx
Review 20:Couldn't sleep as was warm and my mums shower was to high up so she couldn't reach it
Review 21:The location was good easy to get places and the staff were friendly and helpful
Review 22:only slight problem was somewhat rundown surroundings- but is in a very central location. No problems at all with the guest house itself.
Review 23:Clean room comfy bed, friendly.
Review 24:only problem we had was that we were on the top floor there was no elevator and by the time we got to our room my heart was racing.....on the upside climbing stairs was great for the thighs.. lol
Review 25:spotlessly clean child friendly breakfast was excellent friendly staff value for money
Review 26:Never seen a bed and breakfast with so many charges for small things that happen in these places
Review 27:Owners where never seen apart from check in the bar was alway closed and no one to run it breakfast was worst in ever had cold hard and under cooked all they were interested in is the money they were charging for the room would never use this so called B&B again especially after I saw the welcome book in the room all daft rules and charges if you stained or dropped or ate anything in you room
Review 28:We went late season so bar and games room not open often would have been nice be be able to get a drink upon arrival or late afternoon. No where to put you bathroom items but we managed
Review 29:Lovely clean property, friendly staff walkable distance to most attractions
Review 30:the location is fantastic, staff were great and really friendly, breakfast was great and rooms were nice and shower was great. our room even had a hair dryer and straightens - added bonus.
Review 31:Lovely friendly couple who run the hotel, the owner sat with my little boy to play on the PS3 when we arrived quite late at night which was very thoughtful. The dining staff were also lovely and friendly, the breakfast options were a nice variety and the cooked breakfast was lovely. Our room was lovely and clean and just enough space for what we needed
Review 32:The room was incredibly pokey for family accomodation. The bathroom shower cubicle was too small to close the doors and the paper mat was insufficient to cope with the water on floor and over flow from waste which was blocked. The bed and pillows were incredibly hard. We were not permitted to eat in the room and the various signage about what was permitted and not permitted was a little claustrophobic. All up I could not recommend this hotel for either comfort or functionality although it exhibited such traits. Linen was thin and daily changes were frowned upon although NO provision for drying was available. Lastly the noise from outside meeting halls and fellow guests was loud .
Review 33:The location was very good with attractions in an easy walking distance. A local supermarket was also a bonus.
Review 34:The bar closed early and was not open on a Sunday but there are plenty of bar round about
Review 35:The location close to all and a very clean hotel and lovely rooms very quite and value for money
Review 36:The free on the street parking can be a bit of a challenge, but we did arrive at a very busy time.
Review 37:I liked the staff who were really friendly and helpful! The rooms were lovely and clean, and the hotel was perfectly situated for getting into central Blackpool.
Review 38:Overall very cheap and shoddy.industrial loo roll and holder.tinned mushrooms and one bacon rasher for breakfast.opposite 4 boarded up hotels and building site.wouldnt recommend at all
Review 39:I have to say the breakfast was not great. This hotel was not cheap and to have self service for everything and no choice for your breakfast and if you wanted to double up an extra £2.50 was a bit of a cheek. I've stayed in many hotels in Blackpool and always had a deluxe room. You've always had a great choice for breakfast and in your room has always been a fridge with bottled water, fresh orange juice, chocolates etc which were replenished each day. But not in this hotel. Would definatley stay in the hotel again if it had a room only basis as there are lot's of places to have a breakfast in Blackpool.
Review 40:The location of the hotel was absolutely spot on. Parking was a nightmare but got one eventually. The room was lovely and a great big comfy bed with luxury bedding. I liked the card system to get in and out.
Review 41:No parking but not far from NCP and lots of free roadside parking but get full early, front of hotel was a little bit dated but apart from that everything else was excellent
Review 42:The staff were very friendly, the rooms were great, we stayed in the family suite which was lovely, clean, very comfortable and the separate children's room with separate tv was great.
Review 43:Location has a building work across the road, it will enhance the area once completed. The building is not painted a bluey green colour as in picture, drove past it..Its more of a grey.
Review 44:Friendly staff. Helpful local advice. Lovely room. Cental location.
Review 45:Tv didn't work shower was hanging off the wall unusable toilet roll holder was held together with sellotape and beds weren't made on our second day. No toilet light during our stay
Review 46:Breakfast was nice
Review 47:The noise. The shower was broke. When we booked we was told it included breakfast, till we got thier and then got charged a extra £7.50 for breakfast. The room cost £67 and u couldn't swing a cat in thier.
Review 48:Going home the fire alarm went off about 6am
Review 49:We didn't enjoy the cooked breakfast. The egg was overcooked and it was tinned mushrooms rather than fresh. The rest of the breakfast was great, lots of choice fruit, cereal, toast and more.
Review 50:Very welcoming and very clean. Really enjoyed our stay. We will stay again.
Review 51:my friend was cold all the time, couldn't put radiator on
Review 52:everything,like home from home,very relaxed,michael & oksana very friendly. recommended :-)
Review 53:Rooms were clean and ideal for someone taking the hotel as s base point .
Review 54:Location ideal and very welcoming staff. I would go back again if I went to Blackpool
Review 55:The room was perfect, small touches like teddies for the children were lovely, the decor was beautiful! Staff were friendly, food was nice and the welcome was lovely!
Review 56:Shower had just Luke warm water. Very poor facility, not operating properly. No choices of breakfast. We booked the breakfast on the phone but we've been told opposite and been charged much more rates.
Review 57:Cleanliness and local facilities.
Review 58:There was nothing I didn't like.
Review 59:The friendly hosts Michael and Oksana, a lovely couple! Nice clean room and comfy bed, with clean linen and towels. Coffee, tea or hot chocolate with milk and a kettle provided. Breakfast was great too. I wouldn't hesitate to book there again.
Review 60:The bar was never open during our 2 night stay and the rooms don't look like the pictures.
Review 61:The hotel was very clean, breakfast was lovely and the lady serving breakfast was very nice. Was also very close to front.
Review 62:Originally we booked a family room but changed to the family suite which had two "separate" bedrooms. Well worth the small additional fee for the additional space.
Review 63:Attractions are great, hotel was clean and secure, staff were friendly and very polite, enjoyed our stay at the shores with me my wife and 3 kids
Review 64:Having to go down stairs for breakfast with a baby in arms. and the steps on the frront were you come in and out, Especially with a pram and luggage.
Review 65:I liked the location of were the hotel is, The staff very friendly, good facilities. nice clean rooms.
Review 66:i didnt like that their was no parking facilities when i booked it said free parking so when i got their their was no parking facilities but the owener of the hotel told me to park in the carpark of homebargins shop thats what i did
Review 67:the stay was comfortable the staff were very freindly and the locaction was good central for everything
Review 68:We stayed at the shores with our 3 kids, it was very comfortable, the breakfast was excellent the owners extremely friendly and helpful, it's situated perfectly of you are doing all the usual Blackpool attractions, we will most certainly go back.
Review 69:It wasn't a problem for us but if you're not good with stairs you'll struggle as there is no lift.
Review 70:Hotel is in a great location just off the main promenade. Great breakfast with a good choice of cold breakfast as well as the option of a full cooked breakfast. Staff are friendly.
Review 71:Room was tiny shower wasn't that good also the attention to detail like there was paint all over the door like someone did a slap dash job. Also dont open the window during night ill be woken up by next door with loud banging and machines going off every 5 mins
Review 72:Location was good and the price was also good
Review 73:All under 18 years of age are classed as children so only get 3 items on a small plate if they want a normal size cooked breakfast your required to pay a extra £2.50 per child.
Review 74:Breakfast was good.
Review 75:Hotel was lovely, kids loved it! Excellent facilities, clean and well maintained, the gentleman was kind and very helpful, pity he supported Newcastle! Haaa lovely place thank you!!
Review 76:There was no vegetarian breakfast on offer . I have allergies to feathers and my duvet and pillows where feathered . This was sorted straight away .
Review 77:Are room was homely , clean and comfortable . The owner was easy to talk to if anything was needed . Great atmopshere
Review 78:good location for everything we wanted to do! Bars and clubs near as well as short walk to tower and pleasure beach! Room was ideal! Staff are very helpful and breakfast was good! Would definitely book again :)!
Review 79:my daughter didnt like the shower door as it didnt open wide enough
Review 80:i liked the bed as it was comfy and my grandson had teddies to play with and the travel cot was like a play pen so we sat my grandson in and he liked it
Review 81:The area is currently under re-development so therefore wasn't the best view we've had but don't let this put you off. It will look great once completed.
Review 82:The hotel and staff where great. The room was excellent, very clean and the children loved the comic theme! Breakfast was lovely, great choices on offer and a very clean and bright dining room. The location was great too. Near to all local attractions and the beach. There's free parking, we managed to find a spot no problem.
Review 83:We were kept up all night with a drunkern man shouting abuse to his partner and son which I found very offensive my children had to sit and listen to him threatening to kill them both it was disgusting. We had breakfast and left straight away as my children were very upset by this .
Review 84:Can be effected by noise from late night revellers, although this is not the hotels fault.
Review 85:Ideal location friendly staff, fanastic breakfast, clean rooms.
Review 86:B&b aross the road are being knocked down. houses are being built. it will look nice when its done. Shower cubile a little tired. But very glad we stayed
Review 87:very clean. staff and owers very friendly. you felt at home in the bar area and dining area especially with kids. good selection of breakfast. Xbox playstation pooltable
Review 88:Parking is quite hardwork as it us free so hard to get a space.
Review 89:Lovely clean hotel.. owners were polite and breakfast was fab. Our room was too warm but its better than been too cold spesh with 2 young kids. Short walk to front.. would stay again.
Review 90:No faults at all
Review 91:Could believe we was in blackpool, hotel is great very modern and clean. Deluxe family room was amazing kids loved their beds and even got frozen DVD to watch off the owners. Owners and staff superb , will be going again.
Review 92:The hotel has a 10.30 check out which was a little early but there was an option to extend. Probably just me though as badly hungover lol.
Review 93:I was a lone traveller as meeting friends for a stag weekend, so unfortunatly never made breakfast lol. But the reception received and room was good. Very clean and secure and hotel situated approximatly half way along the front. Alltogether a nice stay and would reccomend.
Review 94:Room was a little bland on decoration but still pleasant and clean.
Review 95:Was lovely from the outside and close to central pier and madame tussauds. Keycard entry and a lovely little bar with pool table. The toilet/ shower were fantastic as they had be newly renovated! Room had everything we needed too, and they even supplied coloured towels to dry my dyed hair because damaged white towels incurr a charge. We booked for breakfast but didnt manage to get up on time so missed it. The owner was a very warm and friendly man too- great guy :) we're really impressed and would definitely like to book again in the future.
Review 96:The whole area around the hotel is mostly derelict or closed down, despite being just 400 yards from the seafront and all the main eminities.
Review 97:Comfy room and great breakfast
Review 98:We very much enjoyed our stay at The Shores Hotel. The rooms were clean, the beds comfortable, and the staff really friendly and welcoming. The hotel is located a street behind the main promenade and within walking distance from Blackpool Tower, so it's a perfect location. Would definitely stay again if visiting Blackpool.
Review 99:The location was good, just far away from the hustle and bustle but still within walking distance, staff were a really nice couple couldn't do enough for us. The room was great even the little touches of soft toys on my sons bed. Breakfast was lovely lots of choice.
Review 100:Breakfast is expensive and not worth the money asked for. My friend had a blue skin becuse she hit her knee against the way the bed set up was. Very inconvinient.
Review 101:The location is perfect
Review 102:food was nice, but would have preferred more fresh mushrooms instead of tinned, and a bit more bacon, and maybe option of tinned or fresh tomatoes,
Review 103:bedroom was nice and comfy, adequate space although manager tells us hes making triple room bigger this year for bigger famillies . aot of stairs to top floor, you need to be fit lol, al in all we really enjoyed our stay here would defo recommend
Review 104:I was accused of having someone stay in my room which was untrue ... My son came to my room with me as I was upset Cos my other son had been assaulted and was in hospital having reconstructive surgery after an unprovoked attack ,If they had checked he left a couple of hrs later and manager can verify this after I spoke to him about this
Review 105:Everything apart from bn accused of something
Review 106:Breakfast was too rushed, give more time to finish off cereal before fetching out cooked breakfast and supply hot water with tea. Supply biscuits with tea & coffee in rooms.
Review 107:Location, pool table, tea & coffee facilities, bathroom, décor and cleanliness.
Review 108:Was nice relaxed place. My son specially loved the fact there was a teddy on his bed. Which is a fantastic idea for the children. Warm welcome. Will be back again x
Review 109:Nothing to complain about.....apart from the dreadful weather which was certainly not the hotel's fault!!
Review 110:Friendly welcome, nicely decorated and furnished room, spotless bathroom and comfortable bed.
Review 111:Although paid for children were not allowed full english breakfasts. Thebreakfast was frankly inedible anyway, boiled mushrooms and undercookedbacon, yuck!! Shower was falling apart water went from boilng tofreezing. My little one got burnt. Towel rail fell off no heating onwhen it was cold.. Very steep stairs to dining area., Very dangerous.Totally dissatisfied and feel that the place is totally misrepresentedthe rooms are so tiny and electrics not properly situated in the rooms..Got fed up with complaining and am now taking legal advice...
Review 112:Would not have breakfast next time as it was only on between 8 to 9 and can easily go to one of the many cafes around the hotel
Review 113:The hotel was good, a pity the area around them was quite run-down but this was not reflected in the hotel clean comfortable reasonable prices
Review 114:Good location, fully booked so had to have a small double, partner 6ft 3... Bit if a squeeze! Lol. Very clean but a bit tired looking, realise it's in the pipeline for refurb so won't slate it, owner is lovely, really helpful, breakfast was fab! Nearly instant on the table. For £50 ish quid, what more can u ask for
Review 115:Finding a car parking space
Review 116:The location was superb - just a 5 minute walk to the main tourist attractions. Our room was very clean and we had a comfy nights sleep. En suite shower was excellent with plenty hot water and added extras with the shampoo, shower gel etc. Staff friendly and welcoming. Would definitely stay again.
Review 117:Room was on the small side for the four of us but understand that these issues are being addressed. It didn't bother us though
Review 118:Breakfast set you up for the whole day. Great choice for all diets Lovely touches like dvds to borrow, xbox to use, pool table and bar. The kids loved the complimentary sweets!
Review 119:Shower or what ever you would class it as was a discrace, No hot water first thing in the morning and even when I turned the temp down to get a little more power out of the shower head it still trickled out which I find in today's day and age unforgivable. Also it's says that they don't accepted groups of lads / girls well I can confirm on our stay there was a group of girls whom came back in the early hours staying directly opposite my family's room whom made lots of noise from 2am till 5:30 am which kept myself and my wife awake during this time, so we where both like Zombies when our children woke up at 7 wanting to start there day in Blackpool. Also had my car keyed outside the hotel just to top it all of.
Review 120:Location was fine as I've got two small children so everything needed to be close and within walking distance. The guys at the hotel did remember that IT was my little boys 3rd birthday and put up some bunting in the room and put some Jellys in his bed which was very nice.
Review 121:I like everything
Review 122:Friendly staff Lovely breakfast with unlimited toast and cereals Comfy beds Good TV Kettle with hot chocolate, coffee, tea and sugar. Felt safe Very close to attractions
Review 123:Family room at top of the hotel could have done with its own iron and board. There was one available on the ground floor in the games room for all guests. Only found the instructions for leaving dirty towels in the shower cubicle on our 3rd and last day - bummer! They were in a drawer.
Review 124:Modern ensuite family room with separate accommodation for the kids. They loved the themed wallpaper and bedding. Good to see Blackpool accommodation being brought into the 21st Century, with modern decor and carpets.
Review 125:Some noise from main front businesses but to be fair its the price you pay for being in the centre and it wasn't obtrusive if window was closed
Review 126:Warm friendly welcome, excellent service from owners Michael & Oksana & staff. Clean well equipped room with really comfy beds. Plenty of choice for breakfast which was well cooked & tasty. Bar was well stocked and reasonably priced. Really good place to stay, we would recommend to anyone.
Review 127:Our twin rom was awful. very small, and the bathroom was terrible with a sloping floor, broken toilet holder, hard to open door, bad shower and toilet not bolted to the floor.
Review 128:the friendly feeling, food, and able to check in late.
Review 129:The location of the hotel was awful dirty and lack of parking, which was a shame as the hotel was clean.the standard of the breakfast was not as we expected ie mushrooms were not fresh,so we found the price did not reflect the payment of £80.
Review 130:The owners were lovely, the room was clean and comfortable
Review 131:The guest house was fabulous - unlike Blackpool itself which is smelly, dirty and tacky - couldn't wait to get out of the place.
Review 132:This is a cosy value for money establishment, clean and comfortable rooms, friendly staff and inviting lounge/bar.
Review 133:No parking at all by the hotel had to park a 10 minute walk away. Steps outside the hotel very shabby. Room 8 what a joke. Wanted a family room it was so small it was at double at best. No wardrobe just a rail in a alcove with 5 coathangers on. Bathroom tiny, sink so small when you washed the water went on the floor. Didn't use the shower looked like it was about to collapse. Toilet seat moved when you used it. Lighting in the corridors was lethal so dim. We where at the top of the hotel, 3 flights of stairs not ideal when you have a pushchair, luggage and a toddler. Didn't enjoy our stay at all couldn't wait to leave. Dining room in the cellar very steep stairs. Would not recommend. The street it was in was full of derelict buildings. Vile
Review 134:Place was clean. Breakfast was good plenty of choice, waitress who served using was lovely
The Fine Print
Please note that the hotel does not accept stag or hen groups.
