Reviews for Royal Wilson

Review 1:The rooms are basic, though not as small as other French hotel rooms I have stayed in. The only minor complaint is the lack of a wall shower and screen -- my room had a bath with shower attachment.

Review 2:Hotel is located very close to the centre with its shops and restaurants and easy access to the Metro. It is very good value and surprisingly quiet as it is set back from the main street.

Review 3:Nothing particularly negative, the hotel was just not as good as the current review score average would suggest.

Review 4:The location of the hotel is good, and the room was adequate.

Review 5:The toilet was constantly smelly due to lack of aeration. The bed was uncomfortable.

Review 6:The location, the staff, several TV channels put at the guest's disposal.

Review 7:The first room assigned (basic room) was really noisy. Staff proposed an upgrade to a superior room, more expensive but quiet. No curtains in the room, windows open to a paopular street: annoying. furniture and services clean but old.

Review 8:Location close to city centre, staff availability and kindness

Review 9:Breakfast slightly pricier than average, but still very good. There are plenty of cafés around if you want a cheaper more basic breakfast.

Review 10:Near perfect hotel. Quiet room in idyllic courtyard setting, with comfortable bed, large modern bathroom with a window onto the courtyard, with lovely décor in perfect condition.

Review 11:A lovely city, a gem of a hotel. Did not like checking out.

Review 12:The welcoming smile and cosy room. It was only a small single but very clean, cosy, warm and quiet. Sensibly priced.

Review 13:Outdated Wifi system. We needed a different password for each device.... and still only one device would work at a time. This was unfortunate since we had planned to spend time blogging.

Review 14:Great location. Friendly staff. They had a place to store our bikes. Breakfast in the morning was good.

Review 15:Could only connect one device at a time to the wifi. By the end of my stay I'd remembered the (complex) password from typing it over and over again.

Review 16:The Internet was bungle-some and slow. We had to log on every time we accessed it. The room was dark and needed more or brighter lights

Review 17:The location was great! The staff was very accommodating. I loved that my breakfast coffee came with a full pitcher of warm milk when I ordered it "au lait"! Having parking as an options was very helpful.

Review 18:The hotel is in a great location and it's very reasonably priced. It doesn't score highly on facilities and comfort because it's not a luxury hotel and it's a bit old and creaky but it's great for a short stay.

Review 19:Smoking in rooms. Specifically asked for a non smoking room and clearly people had smoked in our room, the window sill was covered in butts, pillows and bedding reeked of smoke, hairdryer even blew the less than wonderful smell of cigarette smoke! Not being able to move rooms was also a disappointment when clearly there were options - based on the keys on the desk that is. My request to move was met with incredulity! My advice - spend a little more and stay Someplace else unless you like cramped, hot spaces that smell like a bar. My mood not improved by the three air conditioning units running on full and all within touching distance of the window!

Review 20:Location

Review 21:We were disappointed with shower facilities as were prefer a hand free option to showering.

Review 22:Although the room was small it was very clean and was comfortable. The breakfast was very good value for money. It was fresh and generous. The staff were very helpfu and friendly. Centrally located close to old city of Toulouse, restaurants and sites.

Review 23:Standard problem for most hotels: no shower curtains and slow WiFi (at least it was free).

Review 24:Convenient location, friendly stuff, nice breakfast. We stayed in a family room which was spacious enough for our family of four. A child cot was ready in the room by our arrival.

Review 25:The hotel wifi is really poor, we have to connect wifi every 3 minute, and room cleaness is terrible. I even found insects on the bed, but staff didn't care so much. All the facility in the hotel is old.

Review 26:Having been here several times over the years, the only issue is that the manager is a sour puss. Though that's not enough to not go back since the rest of the satff are amiable!

Review 27:Well located, good value, nice staff

Review 28:Wifi didn't work in our 1st floor room, which was disappointing. The room was also a bit dark

Review 29:The staff were very welcoming and helpful. The room was not luxurious, but was very roomy with plenty of wardrobe space, and had all the necessities.

Review 30:The room was on an internal courtyard, so when it was raining I had to cross about 10 feet of open air to get to the other side and down to the lobby. The door to the room was mostly glass, meaning I had to pull a curtain across it to have any privacy. Awkward to pull the curtain from the outside of the room while closing the door, but I didn't like the idea of everyone being able to see that my stuff sitting in an empty room.

Review 31:Location was relatively convenient both to the train station and the downtown area (not super close to either, but an easy walk both ways). Staff was friendly, held my bags both before and after my stay (I arrived before check-in and left Toulouse after check-out). The room did what I needed it to do, no frills but no real problems.

Review 32:Were not offered any information on wifi for example.

Review 33:While some of the staff were very helpful, others were not. The male at the front desk gave us wrong directions to get airport bus, for example. Liked the court yard but we did not have access to it from our room as key was broken, other rooms had access.

Review 34:Breakfast not very rich, I think you can find better value somewhere else. The parking should be reserved, otherwise the public parking is not far but a bit more expensive.

Review 35:Central position Safe neighbourhood Not noisy Wifi sometimes slow but good

Review 36:No shower

Review 37:Stayed here for one night just before Christmas and was really impresessed considering it is only 2 star. The hotel is tucked down a quiet side street but is within a couple of minutes walk from Place Wilson. You can book parking through the hotel in the underground garage next to it at a cost of €9 per night. The hotel is a charming, characterful building and our family room was extremely spacious with a large bathroom. Only slight negative for me would be that I prefer a shower to bath and there was no shower curtain around the bath or fixture for the shower attachment to hang on the wall.. Other than that it was great.

Review 38:The room was small ,smelly and dark, we came back in the evening for a bath to no hot water. Breakfast was the worst we have had ever in a hotel.. We had bread croissants and no plate.. The only other thing was cornflakes and a bit of milk and a sort of apple purée and were served coffee buy the receptionist who was holding a conversation on the phone at the same time. Never again.

Review 39:The location and it had parking

Review 40:Interior of room a bit sparce, light in room could be better, parking difficult

Review 41:Good location in center of town, friendly staff, nice bathroom, beautifull entrance area

Review 42:Internet was slow. I was locked into the hotel at 5:30AM while trying to leave to catch my train which I almost missed.

Review 43:Good price, comfortable clean room, near all tourist sites.

Review 44:I needed a taxi in the morning. The staff would not help "outside of standard hours" to help get one for me. Very irritating. Breakfast very basic.

Review 45:Reasonably good location, fairly good value for money considering.

Review 46:The proximity of Hotel Royal Wilson to Place Wilson gave us the opportunity to stroll to the square for drinks, dinner, shopping and people watching. We felt French! It is also within easy walking distance of famous Toulouse sights.

Review 47:Nothing

Review 48:Room and bathroom were spotless. 10 minute walk to main station and 5 minutes from main shopping area - excellent location. Quick friendly check-in. Better than similarly priced hotels nearby.

Review 49:Nothing really.

Review 50:We have stayed in several hotels in Toulouse. We like to be in the centre but most hotels inthe centre are quite expensive. Hotel Wilson was so central, almost on 'Place Wilson' with its buzz of shops and restaurants. Hotel Wilson was excellent value for money. Large comfortable rooms and really friendly staff. Thank you we enjoyed our stay.

Review 51:The lift has a horrible smell.

Review 52:I was very pleasantly surprised by the fact that despite being in the centre of town on a Saturday night I had no noise problems. The room was lovely, the bed comfy and I liked the situation (the rooms are around an internal courtyard.

Review 53:No English-language news channel such as cnn or bbc World on all-Frenchchannel tv. Very frustrating. No hotel safe available for keepingpassports etc.Towels skimpy, towel rail about to come off wall, totallyunserviceable reading lamps. Description of views (we looked out onaircon units and tv satellite dishes) and so-called "patio"thoroughly misleading; our room really a single with double bed andvirtually no space for clothes, cases etc. Refurb badly needed.

Review 54:Location couldn't be bettered for visiting Toulouse, staff friendly, and bed exceptionally comfortable.

Review 55:Wifi comes and goes lights not sufficient in the room

Review 56:Location, clean, AC, good bed, nice bathroom feeling safe in the hotel. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Review 57:Rooms were very sparse and basic--no pictures on the walls, no big chair to relax in--beds were only place for sitting except for some hard arm chairs. Would be a lot more charming with some decorating, but fine for two stars! Hotel looked more upscale in photos.

Review 58:Good location--we walked everywhere and lots of restaurants nearby; also close to airport shuttle bus. Felt safe. Staff was like family. Beds were comfortable, bathrooms were clean and had a hairdryer and soap, breakfast was nice. Very clean everywhere. Air conditioned.

Review 59:The parking garage was a little tricky to figure out.

Review 60:...which was exactly what we were looking for! The location of this beautiful, charming little hotel is perfect and the staff was exceptional, even stashing our bags after we checked out. Our room was clean, quiet and comfortable, the perfect place for a long sleep after our overnight flight.

Review 61:We have stayed in many 2 star hotels in the area and this hotel gave us the best value to date. Our room was much larger than the average 2 star French hotel room, nicely furnished and very clean--a joy to come back to.

Review 62:Carole was the PR of the hotel and she went well beyond the call of duty helping us with accommodation in Avignon a very special professional person and a great credit to the hotel

Review 63:Room needs updating. No sign for parking and entry/exit system for parking not explained very well.

Review 64:No shower screen/curtain over bath.

Review 65:Good location, parking available, pets welcome. Room was a good size.

Review 66:Very nice staff, good location.

Review 67:It was like when I stayed in Timosera in 1993. Sparce, noisy and basic. The Photos of the hotel make it look a lot better than it is.

Review 68:It was nice to have the option of having breakfast in the room.

Review 69:no kettle

Review 70:Great location

Review 71:Location is excellent. Staff friendly and helpful. wifi worked well.

Review 72:Airconditioner was very loud, had to have it as the room was very hot and noisy if the window open.

Review 73:Staff were very helpful and friendly

Review 74:Standard continental breakfast, virtually no choice. Showering in the bath wets whole bathroom.

Review 75:City center location. Patio.

Review 76:fittings in room were very basic

Review 77:You got good value for what you paid. excellent position.

Review 78:Basic accommodation, but unsurprising given the reasonable cost.

Review 79:Location was very central.

Review 80:Getting to the Car Park was difficult #Staff not very helpful as limited English

Review 81:Good location Value for money

Review 82:No safe in the room.

Review 83:Staff is friendly and helpful. Breakfast is more than adequate.

Review 84:Central position but quietness at the same time and very nice and helpfull staff.

Review 85:No tea/coffee making facilities in the room.

Review 86:Secure parking. Pet friendly. Excellent location at an excellent price. Helpful, friendly staff.

Review 87:Friendly staff. Beautiful building. Excellent breakfast. Central location.

Review 88:Wifi didn't work in my room. Very small TV, only french channels.

Review 89:Location. Friendly staff.

Review 90:Staff, breakfast in room, location, price. Rooms on courtyard very pleasant.

Review 91:breakfast poor value room small with poor natural light

Review 92:great location staff friendly and efficient AC effective room clean, fresh towels etc

Review 93:None

Review 94:Location was just great. The place was very secure and lots of restaurants in the vicinity.

Review 95:Good size and very clean bathroom however hand shower not ideal. Breakfast was good value price wise but somewhat limited such as only one choice of cereal.Still better though then eating outside hotel for comparable breakfast offering

Review 96:Lovely old hotel with character An excellent location for visiting old town Very good value for money for any short term stays Friendly and helpful staff We had 2nd floor room overlooking internal courtyard which is nice and different to many hotels Bedroom location provided pea fill nights sleep. Lift available for moving of luggage etc

Review 97:Of the 5 weeks in Europe this was the most misrepresented hotel of all. The car park is not next to the hotel, it's 2 blocks walk. The "view" was of a brick wall. The "balcony" is about 1 x 3 feet and houses the air con unit. The room we were given should have been a one person room as 2 people could not walk around the bed at once. The front door to the room would only open three quarters before banging into the bathroom wall. Bathroom - shower was mouldy and had to shower one handed as the shower head has no bracket. Also had to run water for about 10 mins before getting any hot. WiFi kept dropping out. Lighting was quite poor, had to use my torch to read at night. Have stayed at a huge range of places from camping to castles but this is the worst as it was so misrepresented in its profile.

Review 98:Location is central to town. Bed was reasonably comfortable.

Review 99:Really nothing negative other than we couldn't get the room to cool off

Review 100:This is a beautiful old hotel in a good location. We had a room on the interior patio and it was very comfortable and light

Review 101:My room was very dark as it faced an inner courtyard and there was no lamp bright enough for reading.

Review 102:The lamp in my room which looked handmade and was so beautiful, i took a photo of it! Beautifully clean showerroom/toilet. Very central location of hotel. Willingness of staff to look up info for me as I didn't have smartphone or IPad.

Review 103:The car parking was very confusing. There is nowhere to pull up in front of the hotel (there is a space but it is blocked off) to unload or ask about the parking.

Review 104:The location was terrific. The staff was friendly. The air conditioning worked well. The room was large and had lots of storage. We would stay again but not with a car.

Review 105:The difficulties of using the carpark, the broken shower slider bar in the bathroom and the very poor wifi in our bedroom.

Review 106:The location and secure parking, and the friendly and helpful staff.

Review 107:Challenge to park while checking in as the hotel is on a one-way street with limited parking. The beds were a bit soft.

Review 108:Great staff and location. Nice to have parking with the hotel

Review 109:I was a little concerned about the security. I felt a little uneasy about the keys being left on the desk, anyone could walk in, take a key and unlock a door!

Review 110:The location was great!

Review 111:The bathroom with only a tub and having to lean over the tub to wash my hair using the flexible shower head; the hair dryer with minimal power; the WiFi seemed slow; the overall faded decor.

Review 112:Breakfast brought to the room at no extra charge; the location in the city; the quietness of the hotel; the efficiency of the staff asking you about breakfast and ordering our taxi for us; the quaint room adjoining the courtyard; being able to turn up the heat in the room as needed.

Review 113:The single room was very small but fine for a short stay.

Review 114:Practical little hotel in a good location. The courtyard must be lovely in summer. They have a nearby parking at only 9 euros per night! Very close to place Wilson, metro, shops (e.g. FNAC) and restaurants. Pleasant staff.

Review 115:Wi-Fi in room did not work. Friday-night noise from the street til 2 in the morning.

Review 116:Perfect location (city center). Incredible price. Attentive, friendly, knowledgeable staff. Decent breakfast. .

Review 117:You had to keep the curtain closed, otherwise everybody from the street could look into the room.

Review 118:Perfect place to explore the city, perfect for a short stay. Pleasant staff.

Review 119:a real shower would have been nice (tricky when washing hair in the bath)

Review 120:central location quiet (amazing as it is in a very noisy area!) no early morning room cleaning! easy going, friendly staff

Review 121:There was no window in our room, just the glass entrance door with a curtain. Breakfast was poor. Wi-Fi did not work in the room.

Review 122:Very good location. Helpful staff. Private parking.

Review 123:We had an excellent two nights at the Royal Wilson: the staff were most helpful and we were able to park our car in a garage they had nearby. The room was very comfortable and the location was handy to all the sights we visited in the beautiful city of Toulouse. We would certainly return.

Review 124:had to get special remote for the A/C Room was very small and most of the furniture (bookcasesetc) came from a thrift store It was a two star in a four star world..but the price was right.

Review 125:proximity to great area

Review 126:I had no negative comments.

Review 127:close to Wilson Place but about 100 yards away but this was quiet spot. I had inner room near courtyard so it was peaceful at night. Hot in July so it needed air conditioning which kept room at nice temperature. Close to busy tourist sites and galleries so it was easy to walk everywhere.

Review 128:It uses actual old school keys ,so when we arrived after 40 mins driving around to get there as there is nowhere to park onsite to drop off bags etc, the door to our room didn't open we had to get the staff to open it. No shower either, just a bath so water went everywhere.

Review 129:The staff were friendly and the location is brilliant. Parking offsite was handy and reasonably cheap.

Review 130:No toilet roll holder , water took a while to get hot but was hot once it got there.

Review 131:Very helpful staff , parking available and good budget room, clean.

Review 132:Lovely little boutique hotel right in the heart of the old city area ofToulouse very clean and comfortable delightful staff and deliciousfrench breakfast

Review 133:Room space distribution was not good, with a large bathroom with bathtub without a wall hanger for the hand held shower and no luggage table.

Review 134:Location is perfect, right in Toulouse downown, close to shops, restaurants, markets, subway an main tourist attractions
