Reviews for Ditton Lodge

Review 1:If I had to say anything it would be that the written directions on the website were not very clear especially as there were far more sets of traffic lights to pass than mentioned.

Review 2:The location was good for the area we wanted. It was obviously a lovely big house in its day but serves well as an up market B&B. The cost was fair for the location and there were some nice touches in the room and bathroom.

Review 3:Peaceful location, very pleasant staff. Nothing too much trouble.ideally situated for us. Thoughtfully presented. We left clothes behind and these were promptly forwarded on to us with no charge.

Review 4:There was nothing I did not like!

Review 5:Being in a well preserved historical house added a positive value to my stay. The staff are very friendly, smiling, extremely helpful and most importantly pleasant. Regarding the location, the Ditton Lodge has a strategic one. Being just a few minutes walk to many attractions and town center is very convenient as well as it is a very private place where one can really disconnect and relax.

Review 6:Was very happy with our stay. Top end price wise but in an expensive area, so relative.

Review 7:Friendly and helpful welcome. Pleasant room and all nicely presented. Breakfast choices good and quality ingredients.

Review 8:When we arrived at Ditton Lodge the house looked lovely and the area was quiet and was pleased on first impressions. There was ample parking in the drive. We did park across the road on the last night but had know fears about leaving it off premises. We arrived at reception and met friendly staff on arrival. Our room was opposite the reception/breakfast room, near the front door on the ground l floor. I was initially concerned at first about the possible noise from outside the room and out by the road. During our stay we hardly heard anything to disturb us. The double room was spacious than first anticipated. Lovely presented room with closet, bedside tables, drawing table & TV. There is a kettle with tea & coffee condiments for refreshment. The Bathroom was well presented nice shower facility with towels provided. There is a good breakfast range to choose from. I would of liked more items from the cooked breakfast but was filling anyhow. Breakfast was served with tea or coffee. For what I paid for two nights I was more than pleased with the location, room, breakfast, service and cleanliness of the property. I would recommend Ditton Lodge to anyone looking for a short stay.

Review 9:The complementary tea ,coffee and biscuits in room was very disappointing. 1 pack of 2 biscuits. Cheap nasty typhoo and nescafe basic. UHT milk. I expected this to be much better. At the minimum should have included earl grey tea and hot chocolate and fresh milk. I feel that £125 for one night was expensive for what was provided.

Review 10:Owners very welcoming and helpful. Clean and comfortable. A pleasant room with nice en suite ..

Review 11:Very comfortable and beautifully furnished. Superb breakfast and very friendly staff.

Review 12:Very clean and comfortable - very nice breakfast.

Review 13:Very helpful, friendly staff. convenient location

Review 14:Room 18 and 15 suffer from excessive noise from the boiler motor/fan. Was woken up at just after 0300 with continuous starting and stopping of boiler, increasing and decreasing speed. If you want to have a noisy night with little sleep this is the place for you. Would never stay here again or recommend anyone else to stay here. In fact avoid places like this.

Review 15:towels, lovely trouser press, one of the most useful pieces of equipment ever invented.

Review 16:We stayed in bedroom no:2. Musty smell in one of the wardrobes which stored 2 single mattresses? Cobwebs and dust on central light fitting.

Review 17:Friendly staff, great breakfast. Convienient to Richmond. Fair price.

Review 18:The Deluxe Double wasn't as spacious as the wording and photographs suggested. The pillows were OK but not great. Whilst the "period" furniture is as elegant as intended, some of the drawers are stubborn. Off-street parking is sufficient for only a few vehicles.

Review 19:Elegant and comfortable throughout. Great shower. Friendly but unimposing service. Excellent breakfast. Vegetarian friendly. Convenient location for Kingston and surrounds or inner London.

Review 20:Ease of booking , clear information booklet, excellent breakfast . Great room , plenty of furniture with good storage.very friendly and helpfull staff.

Review 21:Wasn't a luxury room - poor value for the price. We had to leave early due to a family emergency and they charged us for 3 nights when we only stayed 1. Poor form. I am from hospitality background and think this practice in some properties in the UK is appalling.

Review 22:We incorrectly assumed that the room door automatically locked. Lookingback we should have realised that as the it was a traditionaldoor/lock.

Review 23:Our room was extremely comfortable and elegant. My friend has had arecent operation and we were relocated to a ground floor room.

Review 24:Internet access was intermittent. Don't think we got "guaranteed lowest price" using booking.com. One couple and one single checked out at same time and the daily rate they paid was much less.

Review 25:Car parking, breakfast, garden

Review 26:the fact that the door to the garden, which provided a lovely view, could not be locked from the inside and could be opened from the outside

Review 27:the comfort and sense of being at a distance from the city

Review 28:Parrots could be a bit noisey

Review 29:It's closeness to Hampton Court Flower show. It's quiet location. Friendly atmosphere. Fantastic breakfast Nice little bar

Review 30:Prices abnormally high because of big event in London - butsignificantly cheaper than central London

Review 31:Friendly, home-like atmosphere Quiet location Garden at backComfortable rooms

Review 32:If you do not have a car it is very difficult to get an evening meal. It is situated a long way from a decent eating area.

Review 33:The hotel was excellent with large comfortable rooms. The staff where friendly and the breakfast was very good..

Review 34:Car park was a bit of a squeeze but there was on-road parking after 6pm. However, any free parking in that area is a bonus!

Review 35:Clean comfy room and nice lounge area. Good breakfast and friendly service.

Review 36:Would have liked to pay on booking. The exchange rate was better then.

Review 37:The lovely clean room with quality furniture. The garden and terrace. Great breakfast. Friendly staff. Safe, gracious neighbourhood.

Review 38:Faulty bathroom door. Shower head not very secure. Prone to aiming water to the side door of the shower rather than straight down.

Review 39:The room was clean and tidy.

Review 40:The bed was uncomfortable, the room was cold, the radiator was 'off' and the toilet paper was cheap & nasty !!!

Review 41:The evening receptionist was polite, very helpful, charming & the breakfast was excellent & fresh ...

Review 42:Can't think of anything!

Review 43:Staff very friendly; bedroom and ensuite very comfortable and immaculately clean; terrific continental breakfast buffet, and great hot breakfasts offered -even for picky vegetarians!! Transport by car and public transport very easy. Nice, residential location.

Review 44:Parking is difficult

Review 45:Very clean and tidy Furniture was all of a very high standard The shower was the best of any hotel I've stayed in Very warm and comfortable Fantastic breakfast

Review 46:I extended my original booking from one to two nights, The first night was just for me and the second for my son and me. The hotel was not prepared to offer amy reduction for the single occupancy night even though they only had to supply one breakfast rather than two and the room would otherwise have been unoccupied There also seemed to be general "penny pinching", e.g. one pack of two biscuits with the tea and coffe making facilities, chipolatas rather than sausages at breakfast and only one small bottle of shower gel and one of shampoo, which was not sufficient for two people and was not replenished when it was half empty after the first night. I realise that more would have been available if I had asked, but this shoudn't be necessary.

Review 47:Staff were friendly and the hotel was clean and comfortable.

Review 48:On the first night there was a lot of noise from the room next door. My vegetarian sausages were cold in the middle on day 2.

Review 49:Comfortable bed, Bathroom was very good, Off road parking

Review 50:Nothing

Review 51:Big enough to be a hotel but nicer because very quiet. Very friendly staff who couldn't have been more helpful. As a woman travelling on my own it was ideal.

Review 52:Sign for hotel on the road is not lit up so arriving at the hotel for the first time in the dark, it was very difficult to see whether or not I was in the right place.

Review 53:Room was very comfortable and quiet. As a single woman travelling alone, I felt very safe.

Review 54:room and bathroom could have been more up to date. Musty smell in room. Manager did say they were going to update that room. Upper rooms a little hot, and I was not comfortable about what to do in event of fire. They did go to some pains to move me to a ground floor room.

Review 55:the good service, staff friendliness, excellent breakfast, courteousness, convenience to station (about 15 minutes walk)

Review 56:Every time we have stayed here the staff have been brilliant. Very helpful. A very comfortable stay, always. Lovely big family rooms, especially the 2 overlooking the garden.

Review 57:There was a problem with the card machine at Ditton Lodge during our most recent stay. At first the machine was apparently declining my card. However, I phoned up my bank and they informed this was not the case and there was a problem with the connection at Ditton Lodge. I ended having to drive out and get cash from a local ATM.

Review 58:Stayed here 4 times now. It's clean, spacious, well priced, well located and friendly.

Review 59:The house was beautiful. The bedroom small but very clean and comfortable. Breakfast no complaints at all. Would certainly come back again.

Review 60:Parking was rather cramped and from Monday to Saturday parking outside would have been difficult.

Review 61:Lovely old house with a super garden, friendly helpful staff, comfortable room and an excellent breakfast.

Review 62:Had everything I look for in a hotel. Friendly, helpful staff. Lovely clean room with nice furnishings (the photos on the website do not do it justice), great shower and a lovely breakfast the next morning with a very wide choice of things.

Review 63:My only complaint would be that there was no air conditioning in the rooms.

Review 64:I loved the quaint and beautiful decor of Ditton Lodge. This was a real gem of a hotel to find and made me feel welcome and comfortable after a long trip from the US.

Review 65:Nothing to complain about.

Review 66:Ditton Lodge was very clean,as if just decorated. The atmosphere was very friendly and efficient. The house and gardens are in top notch conditon and the price reasonable. Would be happy to recommend any body to use and enjoy.

Review 67:This beautiful former family home makes a very comfortable siteseeinghotel. The staff were cheerful and friendly. I would recommend it to allmy friends visiting west London.

Review 68:The staff were pleasant friendly and helpful. The hotel was wellsituated for our needs and comfortable and inviting. We only stayed fora night and arrived late afternoon before going out to visit familylocally so we didn't get the chance to use the hotels facilities but wewere impressed by the warmth and ambience. Breakfast was extremelypleasant. Overall we were very pleased with our stay and would use thehotel again.

Review 69:I didn't like the hairdryer in the bathroom it wasn't powerful enough so I chose not to wash my hair for fear it would take too long to dry. The young lad (trainee) at breakfast time didn't write down anyone's order so had to come back and check and then gave me white toast when i ordered brown and missed the bacon. He then gave another customer tea instead of coffee and when customer asked 'isn't that tea?' he said 'no'. Another member of staff realised and replaced it.

Review 70:Loved the location and friendliness of staff, it was very welcoming. The room was quiet, bed very comfortable and in room facilities were good. The breakfast was very nice and it was in reasonable walking distance of the station. I felt safe there.

Review 71:The hotel made a lovely first impression, nice buliding and well keptgardens in a very nice area. It was very peaceful and the rooms werevery well-appointed and the standard of cleanliness was very high.

Review 72:Period-authentic interior decor, artfully imparts a relaxed ambiance. The property is well maintained throughout. I enjoyed the excellentbreakfast selections cooked to order. The proprietors and staff arefriendly and pleasant towards guests.

Review 73:TV acceptable but a bit small for size of room and curtains too light for our taste

Review 74:Friendly, quiet hotel in good location with close proximity to Kingston Upon Thames, Esher and Surbiton. Double room was spacious and spotlessly clean with good power shower. Lovely breakfast

Review 75:The location was ideal in a quiet suburb of Surbiton. The room (Double de Luxe) was spacious, comfortable and very clean as was the ensuite with a good shower (nice and hot). The breakfast was excellent all freshly prepared and set us up for the day visiting Hampton Court Palace. You did have to go in the car there but you can park in Bushy Park for free and it is only a short walk to the Palace entrance. The car parking at Ditton Lodge was fine and we had no problem parking in the driveway. There are no evening meals but sandwiches are available on request. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would stay there again.

Review 76:I didn't like the fact that could not have a drink on arrival at 9.30 as everything was closed even the lounge. My kettle did not work in bedroom.

Review 77:I liked the cleanliness and the breakfast was very good

Review 78:As usual the hotel came up to expectations. The public areas are wellfurnished and comfortable. There is a lovely air of stillness andquietness about the hotel. The bedrooms are very comfortable and cleanand the breakfasts are exceptional

Review 79:there was a noise of a generator running through the night.

Review 80:it was the perfect location for what we needed.

Review 81:Loved the breakfast. There was a good choice and the cooked breakfast was hot - I'm sure it had been freshly prepared and was delicious.
