Reviews for County Hotel
Review 1:The fact that the rooms were in a seperate building and also the price of the breakfast £11.50, this including everything, cereals, fruit juices, continental and full English (too much for us), so we had a more modest breakfast elsewhere for £5.00.
Review 2:Carnforth is only a small town but the 'County' is situated right at the central crossroad and on the main traffic route. Very pleasant one night stay, the restaurant was nice the menu varied and the food good
Review 3:No heating ! We explained to reception and cleaners after our first night's stay and on the second night there was no heating overnight or in the morning. Reception said they were having problems with a pilot light going out. Hotel seemed in need of updating and had a 'scruffy' old-fashioned appearance.
Review 4:The shower was good and room spacious.
Review 5:The only problem was the heating which didn't seem to work very well so it took quite a long time to heat the room. Did report it twice. Wasn't too much of a problem as it wasn't that cold outside but really needs sorting.
Review 6:Going on the Brief Encounter train early so it was just a short walk to the station. Didn't have the breakfast so couldn't comment but i did think it was a bit on the expensive side-£10.95! We did have fish and chips the day we arrived which were lovely. Room was large-double bed and single bed.
Review 7:See previous. I think we are all entitled to an apology as we could have been facing a night looking for local alternative accommodation. I have used Bookings.com several times but without problems. An explanation at least is necessary we feel for this fault. Otherwise we will have to use alternative sites in future. This was not an oversight by the Hotel.
Review 8:Staff in charge had no confirmation of our booking from Bookings.com upon arrival !!! Said that ours was not an isolated case with Bookings.com in recent weeks. However they were able to find us two appropriate rooms or we would have faced problems. Gabrielle was very understanding and we also had a nice evening meal at The County Hotel too.
Review 9:Filthy bathroom, blood on sheets, dirty upholstered furniture, door lock to building broken. Food in restaurant questionable as my pie looked as though it had fallen on the floor and been scraped up on yo the plate.
Review 10:Nothing
Review 11:Dangerous flooring in the bathroom. Doorknob on entrance door to the lodge rooms very difficult to get into as needed tightening up so a real struggle with the key. Inside of toilet door in main building very dirty with accumulated hand use not cleaned for a long time. Hotel very tired looking. One lady trying to juggle serving breakfast and to cover Reception which was immpossible due to location of the kitchen to reception area. Breakfast was not included and very expensive. I was really disappointed with this hotel as have paid less for a lot better in other hotels.
Review 12:Convenient to where we wanted to be.
Review 13:Bedrooms on roadside- noisy road. Car park needs sweeping! Dated decor- all very dark. Booking.com did not pass on requests to hotel. What is the point of entering them in the booking form?
Review 14:Easy to find. Loads of parking off road. Spacious bedroom with bath
Review 15:Having to leave, to continue our travels elsewhere.
Review 16:Polite well spoken staff. Freshly cooked food. Clean fresh smelling room. Clean welcoming premises throughout.
Review 17:Wastebin in the bathroom had not been emptied from the previous occupants. Continental breakfast was not a continental breakfast, very poor, waste of money. In europe, they always have cheese, meats, fresh fruit and yoghurts available, one croissant does not constitute a continental breakfast.
Review 18:Room was nice and spacious and the full English breakfast was really nice.
Review 19:I would have preferred more cooked breakfast choices. I didn't want a "full english" and settled for scrambled eggs on toast - the eggs were fine but 4 pieces of toast a bit excessive!
Review 20:close to motorway so convenient for overnight stay between Edinburgh and Bristol.
Review 21:Wifi, in the XXI century should be perfect, but it is very poor, slow and most development time only worked in a restaurant. Please improve this problem and the hotel will be the XXI century :-)
Review 22:The chef serves tasty lunch dishes and desserts. Michelin star for me :-)
Review 23:A little expensive considering other hotels in the area. Rooms a little tired & the pillows were not comfortable. Having said this I would stay again for location.
Review 24:Ideally situated for Capernwray Dive Centre
Review 25:I would say maybe the smell in the accommodation building, it does smell a bit odd and old. But this is minor.
Review 26:The staff is very friendly, they take their time to help and are not worry of spending time discussing with visitors. The breakfast was not ideal for me as I am very healthy conscious person and although I had consumed a little, they didn't charge me for that, so really appreciated. The accommodation was ok, bed comfortable, it's a bit old school but you see that it's clean and everything works well so that's the most important. Good location in Carnforth.
Review 27:This hotel is in a good location for visiting both the Silverdale and Kendal area. It is also easy to get to Morecambe or the Lakes. Carnforth itself is handy for the train station if you wish to leave your car behind. The Staff are very helpful and friendly.
Review 28:Facilities spotless, a good meal and friendly staff in a good location for our purposes. Could be said to be a bit dated but that didn't detract at all.
Review 29:Mostly good just no Wi-Fi signal in room or parts of the main hotel. Easy sorted I guess. Breakfast very good just a bit slow service, away for a break so maybe I'm being a bit picky, sorry
Review 30:Food was good, especially dinner. Friendly staff. Stayed there before would go back again. Thanks Natalie and County staff.
Review 31:There wasn't anything not to like but if anything beds could have been a bit more comfortable a bit to firm for us.
Review 32:It was only over night but enjoyed the evening meal and breakfast.
Review 33:Nothing.
Review 34:Lovely room with comfortable bed and spotlessly clean. Superb carvery dinner served in the evening and a first class breakfast in the morning. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Review 35:Room 21. Found beds and pillows to be quit hard and uncomfortable. The bed nearest to the door, mattress either needs replaced or turned about as dipped badly on one side. Room and tea making facilities were good.
Review 36:Evening meal carvery was nice. Breakfast was ok but wished chef hadn't pepper the scrambled eggs. Staff friendly but service could have been quicker. Would still use this hotel.
Review 37:Nothing to dislike
Review 38:We were visiting the University for the open day. After we visited the Lakes, so this hotel is in a good location for both. Food is good value.
Review 39:The bedroom could do with being updated The mattress was very " lumpy" & pillows very soft but I suppose you get what you pay for.
Review 40:Breakfast was adequate although not as described no fresh fruit
Review 41:rooms very very near the road , had breakfast first morning but seemed to be overpriced ,so chose elsewhere on second morning.bar & hotel seem to be separate businesses which caused confusion as to bar service.
Review 42:easy access to the the lakes very central location shops nearby good parking, accomadation was very comfortable although a little dated.
Review 43:The bar and restaurant was understaffed and I found cobwebs in the alcoves behind the curtains.
Review 44:Presentation of food coming from the kitchen was good and the flavour of the seafood risotto was excellent!
Review 45:We were on a short cycling trip to the Lake District and stayed here for one night. What I liked most about our stay was that there was a locked garage available for our bikes.
Review 46:Location to visit my sister was brilliant. The rooms were spotless and very good value for money. We didn't eat here as I was visiting my sister but I am sure you won't be disappointed.
Review 47:The bed.The fact that all the front of house staff were all multi-tasking.The bar lacked any ambiance and the carvery room could be mistaken for a morgue awaiting the next admissions John Burnley
Review 48:Not a great deal The staff were acceptable but lacked leadership
Review 49:good location for the lakes and dales, only stayed one night, visiting friends, but found the hotel clean and comfortable, can recommend the poached eggs for brekkie, they were cooked to perfection. would stay again.
Review 50:Beds rather hard and uncomfortable. Seemed poor quality, which was a shame after otherwise good facilities.

Review 61:The beds were very uncomfortable. The mattresses needed changing
Review 62:Casual impression given by staff. No hooks on bathroom door. Over-priced and very poor quality breakfast.
Review 63:Location.

Review 84:The size of the room, the fantantstic food and large breakfast.

Review 101:It suited our needs and it was just off the M6 and very easy to find.
Review 102:Rooms were clean but decor was tired looking.
Review 103:Friendly efficient staff. Good food.

Review 107:Spacious room and a comfortable bed. Dinner and breakfast excellent. Staff very friendly.
Review 108:QUIETNESS: COMFORT: LOCATION:
Review 109:Breakfast was overpriced.
Review 110:The family room was a generous size and quiet & clean. The evening meal was excellent.
Review 111:For me the bed was uncomfortable - expensive breakfasts
Review 112:Nice and clean, location was good, we got exactly what we booked.
Review 113:Bedside lights too well shaded - hard to read. TV screen minute especially hard to watch World Cup football!
Review 114:Choice of bath or shower& selection of toiletries.
Review 115:Nothing to dislike it was a welcome stay and lovely room to relax in, reminded me of motel rooms in Aus.
Review 116:The fact that the rooms were separate to the actual hotel itself. Lovely big room. Not far from thr Canal inn great watching the swans on the canal.
Review 117:your review states 9.2 miles from cartmel whereas its actually 23.5 miles.the reason we booked it was only short taxi from hotel to races but we had to get train and bus , you should change your description as misleading
Review 118:hotel was fine , your distances are wrong
Review 119:Breakfast was overpriced for what we received sounds more than came at £10.95 I expecting something special but it was disappointing and charging £7.95 for a croissant and toast for children is crazy
Review 120:The family suite was ideal for us and at a reasonable price too really nice and clean and spacious. Staff very helpful on arrival
Review 121:There was WI-FI with extremely slow internet. I took 15 min to load the page. Also breakfast wasn't amazing plus we didn't find any nice restaurants in the village. So it is better to eat in Lake District as there is much better for quality for same price.
Review 122:We liked the room which was good size, clean, warm and cosy. Big bed! Also there was hotel parking available which was very convenient.
Review 123:We thought the beds were hard to the point of being uncomfortable, the cost of the food was more than we had paid travelling around Scotland
Review 124:Our stay was enjoyable,Carl was very very helpful in all things.
Review 125:Can't really think of anything negative. Perhaps the breakfast was a little on the expensive side but that's all I can think of.
Review 126:Everyone was very friendly and keen to make my stay as pleasant as possible. Room was great (found out it was the bridal suite!) and the food was excellent.
Review 127:Windy outside, resulting in wind whistling through window and causing lack of sleep. Old decor and bathroom. No cheaper than a Premier Inn or Travelodge.
Review 128:Nice and warm Good access for M6.
