Reviews for Brook Kingston Lodge Hotel

Review 1:We were not in the Hotel for long as went out to a party, came back, slept and then checked out but everything looked clean and the staff were very friendly

Review 2:It wasn't a bad experience as such, we expected what we saw online and obviously that photo was at least twenty years old, so misrepresentation.

Review 3:Rooms were large which is a luxury in the UK.

Review 4:I stayed in this hotel for one night and I can't fault it. The room was very nice - clean, tidy and welcoming! The staff were wonderfully helpful. The car park was quite full because of a party but they did their best to ensure I had a space (even helped me to reverse park!!!) Free wifi was great! Good location and easy to find - thank you! I would happily stay here again.

Review 5:Exceptionally polite staff and well trained. Food was great and the bar is wonderfully set up and decorated in the reception area. Comfortable and spacious bedroom. Easy links into Kingston/Richmond/Twickenham and Central London via train. Bus stop right in front of the hotel. Would definitely recommend staying here.

Review 6:The staff were first class and the room very comfortable. Asked if I could check in early as off to the RWC said they'd try , I arrived at 11am and room was ready. Brill!!

Review 7:Very convenient for the local train station and main roads, good staff, good bar, nice room, good car parking, decent breakfast, a telephone call a month before to ask about requirements, overall fair value for money bearing in mind location. We only stayed one night for the rugby and it was a good choice.

Review 8:Much of the hotel is tired looking and dated. Bathroom very old and in need of an update. Definitely not worthy of 4 stars, more like 2 stars. The cooked breakfast at £12.50 per head was disgraceful. The tomatoes shrivelled up on the plate, the mushrooms looked and tasted like they came from a tin. The noise coming from the kitchen into the dining room at breakfast with what sounded like two chefs arguing was also not great. It reminded us of Fawlty Towers, a typical tired English hotel/B&B trying to be something it is not!

Review 9:Not a lot!

Review 10:Staff was quiet casual. Say yes but do not do things. I had a blocked drain in the hotel which took more than twenty four hours to fix in my forty eight hours stay. Cold breakfast was served.old creaky building, noisy early morning.

Review 11:Key cards never worked straight away Only had choice of 2 gluten free salads on dinner menu - after very long journey

Review 12:The gentleman who served breakfast was excellent - helpful (as i needed gluten free) welcoming, polite. Room comfortable although bathroom needs updating - taps etc

Review 13:Appalling double bed. Both mattress and base need to be binned. We kept rolling towards the middle of the bed and when one of us turned over the other was "bounced" upwards.

Review 14:Location and lounge area

Review 15:The beds needed to be upgraded. We all had sore backs because of the quality of the mattress. One of the ladies in the bar area wasn't very nice we were the only ones in the bar area and we asked if we could watch a football game and she was quite rude. We ordered food and we had to send it back because it wasn't cooked.

Review 16:When we arrived there was one lovely young man who offered to show us to our room and carry our bags .the way he greeted people was lovely the reception staff could actually learn a lot from how friendly he was.

Review 17:Difficult for older couple going up and down the stairs with no ground rooms and no lifts

Review 18:Great breakfast, great staff. Great location for where we needed it to be. It's a very cozy, warm hotel with a cute garden/patio area.

Review 19:I think you need to upgrade your beds as our bed seen better days, noisey and not very comfortable ,, the night porter didn't look very happy,,

Review 20:The day staff were very friendly, good location, but you can't tell it's right beside a road, but there was no road noice which was good

Review 21:I mentioned the parties over the weekend so I pity anyone in close proximity to the Function rooms. Also, housekeeping wasnt always great. I did think the value for money questionable but then again, supply of properties nearby is low and demand was probably up.

Review 22:This hotel has a quirky layout that you will either love or hate. I thought it charming with its mock Tudor central courtyard, functional seventies interiors and a hint of faded manor house decor. I was given an extremely quiet room away from the Function rooms that were hosting parties on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. My stay was relaxing in this comfortable and unpretencious hotel.

Review 23:The breakfast wasn't great- the only thing that let it down really.

Review 24:Great little hotel. The staff were exceptionally friendly and great with our dog too! Location was only 10minute walk from overground station straight into Waterloo. Richmond park only a five minute walk too.

Review 25:Bed was not comfy, overall the hotel does need a tidy up as it lets it down which is a shame

Review 26:Courtyard was lovely and seating around the hotel was really nice. Rooms were not bad and were clean and staff were overall, very helpful and accommodating. Toiletries we're classy and water in the room was great, thank you to the manager for his attention to our needs as it really helped.

Review 27:very expensive for what you get, the room was small and had no air-conditioning at all. there was a small fan in the room that was very dirty, I complained to the reception staff and was told that "it's London that's what the prices are, I can sell this room for a lot of money tonight if you don't want it." the staff were very poor and had no customer care at all. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Review 28:not a lot

Review 29:No airconditioning in rooms, very poor service in restaurant on 12th July

Review 30:Courtyard garden - flowers on balconies - staff on day one of visit (11th July)

Review 31:Very hard to get into a bath to have a shower. Bathrooms really need modernising. Had a bad crack in the basin.

Review 32:very comfortable beds. Very helpful and friendly staff.

Review 33:The hotel interior was very tired and our room overlooked a portacabin which was in regular use. Breakfast was poor. In view of this we felt the room was overpriced.

Review 34:Shower didn't work properly - and a very dated bedroom.

Review 35:Very friendly and welcoming staff, great breakfast and very pleasant conservatory dining room area to eat in. Also liked chairs/sofas scattered about to read in.

Review 36:Poor quality breakfast, Premier Inn is better and cheaper. Bar staff, although pleasant did not know basis drinks. Room had not been cleaned from previous guest. Air Con did not work, even with a fan and the window open the room was very hot

Review 37:Bed was comfortable.

Review 38:Inadequate parking spaces. Damp patches on bedroom wall. Inadequate tea and coffee provision. No air conditioning we had 3 free standing fans to keep us cool during very warm nights. No complementary toiletries.

Review 39:Thw staff were very friendly and helpful. The quality of the breakfast was good.

Review 40:Two of us ordered the Belly pork and asked for it to be well done, but the chef refused to cook it the way we wanted it. The food we have in the end was ok. If I stayed there again, I would eat out.

Review 41:The hotel was well located, clean and very friendly.

Review 42:There is no aircon and on a warm night we have to leave the windows open

Review 43:Nice friendly Hotel, well appointed and plenty of parking. Rooms are 'bijoux' but very pleasant

Review 44:I could hear clearly the next-door room - clearing throat, coughing as if it were in my room. The mattress was unf too soft for me so I did not sleep that well.

Review 45:The room was v nice, both cosy and spacious at the same time. The various 'spaces' in the communal areas - the seating area above the restaurant, separate bar area, the courtyard, and the courtesy jug of water at reception. The warm welcome from the manager (Nitish Ummat) and his excellent customer service during my stay. The relaxed feel of the place and the staff's ability to give you enough 'space' whilst still attending to you.

Review 46:Didn't expect the hotel to be right on Kingston Hill, the photos make it look more secluded. For a 4 star hotel the bathroom needed some TLC. Again, for 4 stars I would expect better coffee, not cheap Nescafé and proper milk would be more appropriate. There was a function, all men, and as to be expected they were fairly noisy and they could be heard in my room which overlooked the courtyard. To be fair though the noise abated around 11.30pm. The room was unbearably hot and I couldn't open a window for air only the balcony door which I didn't want to do as I had my dog with me.

Review 47:Location was good and free parking is a bonus. Pet friendly too though there is a £10 charge. Fortunately didn't have to pay the full price.

Review 48:The water pressure appeared faulty as whenever i took a shower it trickled through the shower head, however, the worst problem was that there was no cold water coming through and the water was dangerously hot! Had to splash water to remove shampoo from hair because it was too hot to let it on my head. Very bad experience.

Review 49:Very friendly staff; i had excellent room in terms of size and comfort. Very good selection at breakfast. Aside the one thing i've mentioned regards the shower, i liked this hotel alot and thought it was excellent value for money.

Review 50:No lift available didn't see it noted on detail but staff carried luggage. Bed too soft for us. Room nicely furnished but needs painting and marks on carpet need cleaning. Just simple little attention to detail.

Review 51:All staff very helpful couple of problems sorted very quickly. Nice quiet hotel with pretty garden seating area. Didn't have breakfast but evening meal very nice all freshly prepared.

Review 52:The hotel had a wedding on in the evening and it took over the hotel when we asked for a table for our evening meal we were shoved up a corner in the bar as the restaurant was being used for the wedding. The bar was noisy and over crowed with wedding guests. We did not eat at the hotel instead we went to a pub down the road .. I felt that the wedding guests took preference over other paying guests..

Review 53:Comfy rooms very clean well stocked with tea and coffee

Review 54:London prices, x 2 compared to outside the metropolis. Traffic congestion on way in , you need good route planner to navigate unless you know area.

Review 55:Very comfortable, with helpful staff. Good location if you know shortcuts to Heathrow. Had great afternoon at Hampton Court Palace, and if we had more time, could easily have seen Richmond Park

Review 56:The room walls are very thin, so you can hear conversations etc. in other rooms, which can be disturbing. The rooms are on the small side and the shower pressure was terrible. Hotel restaurant food was so-so.

Review 57:Friendly staff, if a little slow to get things done. Rooms are comfortable enough, and the free wi-fi works very well. It's very close to a bus stop for getting into the town centre. It's appreciated to have a free bottle of water each day. TV picture was good.

Review 58:The walls are paper thin and you can hear people in the rooms next door talking, watching TV and even using the toilet!

Review 59:The hotel was clean. Some of the staff were friendly and efficient, others really did not meet expectations.

Review 60:mention should be made by waiters beforehand if food or drink from the menu is not available.

Review 61:Really appreciated the personal call to enquire of any special requests we may have had. Ground floor rooms lead onto a beautiful terrace. No problem to find busses and taxis to get us around!

Review 62:The service in the restaurant was poor. An inexperienced young lad training, I think. We were not shown to a table. ( even in a harvester, your taken to a table). Menu was not given straight away. I had the pork which did not come with the apple puree, and not a person in sight to ask. On the whole I was very disapointed with my meal considering this hotel has been awarded a Rosette.

Review 63:The position of the hotel was great for visiting Hampton and Ham house. The room was spacious and clean with a balcony and all the facilities one would expect.

Review 64:Only ONE negative in the whole stay: the TV was housed inside a unit with doors that only opened forwards to 90 degrees thus blocking the view from the provided chair & necessitating shutting the doors each time to walk between bed & TV cupboard, Very irritating. Foldback hinges needed urgently.

Review 65:Everything: - The room, the public areas, the staff & the food & location close to Richmond Park.

Review 66:Carpets are worn and old, some finishing touches of the hotel need modernisation. Bittersweet with the breakfast - fresh but you need to wait inbetween your meal to get new stock replenished.

Review 67:Comfy beds, free parking.

Review 68:The room was slightly chilly.

Review 69:The Staff were AMAZING and service prompt, helpful and always with a smile. Food and Wine was great. We had a wonderful 2 days stay and would visit again.

Review 70:Lovely hotel, very friendly staff, great location, plenty of parking space, my friends daughter is having her wedding there next year, so can't wait to go back.

Review 71:Not sure if the walls are thin or one of our neighbours was loud. A wedding party was at the hotel but we only heard 1 annoying voice all stay

Review 72:Very close to Norbiton rail station which has good links into London and Richmond Park which has awesome views & a lovely cafe. Hotel was very clean with ample free parking. Thanks for an enjoyable stay!

Review 73:The staff seemed more interested in each other than in the clients. The barman struggled with a glass of coke, though it may have been his first day (I hope). The food was very average and way over priced.

Review 74:Nothing exceptional, just really really average.

Review 75:Couldnt fault the hotel at all. They had rang to prewarn us there would be a wedding reception during our stay but they gave us a quiet room away which was much appreciated. My 7yr old daughter and I slept really well and the food was delicious! Will definitely stay there again.

Review 76:The quality of food in general was not good for price. Disappointed in breakfast very small portions and proper sausage would have been better.

Review 77:Bistro staff very good and friendly

Review 78:Staff couldn't help enough and were so helpful. A fantastic place if travelling with a well behaved dog and nothing was too much trouble. A relaxing environment that was very welcome at the end of a long working day.

Review 79:Place is old, dusty, we escaped after a day, Even that we were promised to be our money back after leaving suddenly we couldn't get the money back. Stay away.

Review 80:Ill fitting window allowed draft and noise in , unfortunately evening meal mediocre ( lumpy mash not much flavour in sausages and onion mash )

Review 81:Very attentive staff , comfortable good location

Review 82:The shower was a bit dodgy , not able to set it to get a warm shower, either cold or a bit hot. The breakfast was expensive so did not take up that offer and eat else wear

Review 83:The room was nice with a comfy bed and appropriate facilities, staff helpful as they could be.

Review 84:The flexibility and understanding. I arrived at 1pm, 2hrs before check-in, but with an awful migraine and was immediately admitted to the room and given extra time before checkout the next day. Also the rich furnishings with lots of interesting pictures.Late at night we were treated to a specially-made sandwich by the duty manager.

Review 85:we request to move into other room as it was too far from main entrance ,we moved into room which had no central heating with very small broken electric radioter so we spend 3 chilly night under heavy cover and my husband had cold and we totally dissatisfied

Review 86:location

Review 87:Returned home from Rugby at 7pm and tried to eat. Long queue and was advised that room service would be quicker. Retired to our room leaving order with staff and after an hour checked on progress. Then told starter was unavailable so waited another 1/2 hour until food delivered. Bit hungry by then but manager offered us 2 glasses of wine in way of apology - well handled and enjoyed our stay. Thank you.

Review 88:The hotel was very comfortable and the 'actor' receptionist an absolute credit to the hotel. Checked in early so we good get to Twickenham in good time and sorted problem with room key immediately and professionally.

Review 89:Bathroom requires complete refurbishment. Shower in bath not good even in standard room. Some public areas not cleaned from night before when we left hotel at 1000.

Review 90:Friendly staff. Good location.

Review 91:Room keys were a nightmare needed reprogramming regularly. Bathroom didn't have a mixer tap (1980's Problem). Total lack of pillows on the bed Felt like I was sleeping flat. Heater didn't work properly. Overpriced at £104 compared to a Travelodge which is just as well accommodated. Food was not nice either.

Review 92:Quiet rooms. Nice area. Nice balcony. Clean rooms. Friendly staff.

Review 93:It was warm and cosy excellent staff good food comfortable rooms problem free wifi...bus stop at the door and a 24 hour service into the centre of Kingston and also to Norbiton r/w station.

Review 94:Nothing not to like.

Review 95:My husband and I decided this year to take a break from our traditional family Christmas. A friend recommend the Brook Kingston Lodge, so we booked a 2 night stay for the Christmas hols, and enjoyed a fantastic Christmas. Thank you. Kate from London.

Review 96:All good - but there may have been a slight problem with the thermostat in the corridors as it was very hot . It did not detract from my stay - just mentioning in passing .

Review 97:The staff at this hotel were helpful and accommodating , something which is increasingly rare in this country . I was particularly impressed by a young man on Reception who was friendly and efficient . Every request was met with a positive and professional response - I have not had such excellent service in the UK for a very long time .

Review 98:very little parking Shower worked but produced only mildly warm water. Window would not close or lock very poor wifi signal

Review 99:Close to where I wanted to be found the hidden hair dryer

Review 100:No parking available, told to park at a local golf club and walk back. 2 functions held during our 1 night & afternoon stay, very noisy. Continually kept waiting for staff at the bar. Limited seating in the bar area which actually encroaches into the reception.

Review 101:Not much

Review 102:Haphazard service at breakfast. When I asked the waitress for glasses for fruit juice for myself and my husband, she only brought one. The tea arrived as requested but we had to ask for cups and saucers and milk!! In fairness, I think we sat at a table that had not been set up - but perhaps the staff could be asked to be a bit more observant rather than on automatic pilot, please!!

Review 103:balcony from room overlooking quadrangle.

Review 104:A little too much central heating for my comfort, that many people talking about rugby provide all the hot air ever needed.

Review 105:Fantastic location for access to Twickenham. Staff really got why we were there; and understood our need to carry on the experience into the small hours, coping magnificently when we all turned up for breakfast at 09:55. Well Done.

Review 106:Ancient duvets. Hard pillows. Cracked bathroom sink. A lot of dust in room. Worse in breakfast room where there are wooden Venetian blinds which are filthy hiding windows that are equally unclean. Old and tired decoration. Needs renovating. Too expensive for quality provided.

Review 107:Reception and bar staff were excellent and helpful. Food was reasonably priced. Breakfast cooked to order. Free car park.

Review 108:Hotel did not have information on local atteactions, things to do. Also places on where to eat would of been helpful.

Review 109:Staff were really helpful and answered our queries. We were able to check in early as requested as we were going to the Rugby ar Twickenham.

Review 110:Breakfast was worse than in a Premier Inn. The fried bread was bread put under the scrambled egg and bacon. There were no bowls, no one to direct us to a seat and no one clearing up regularly. It was not good. A large family group was allowing all the children to run around and put their noses right on the bread and toasting machine. This could have been avoided if the toasting machine was placed higher. On booking out there was a queue and only one person on reception, booking out took far too long.

Review 111:We liked the welcome when we arrived, very late, there were 2 people on reception who were helpful and pleasant. The room was clean and we were allocated a room with an outside door which was perfect for our dog.

Review 112:main dining room tacky and lacked the finishing touches. shower in room not working correctly, had to have a cold shower as there seemed to be a n airlock in the hot water system

Review 113:good location for where I wanted to be. good welcome good choice of menu

Review 114:Cooked English breakfast was slow in coming and lacked the hash brons I asked for. Other wise breakfast was good.

Review 115:I liked the welcoming room. The big bed. Clean and spacious bathroom. Well lit. good storage space

Review 116:Excellent staff, they really couldn't do enought for you. Plentyfull and tasty breakfast. Very comfy bed, spacious bedroom & large modern bathroom. Would definately stay here again.

Review 117:Shame breakfast was not included in price but I thought I got a fairly good deal on the room.

Review 118:Rooms very well presented, liked the complimentary fresh water which, came in two bottles. Also liked the french doors to communal area. Hotel pre-warned me that there was a marriage reception in the hotel that night.

Review 119:We had patio doors only on the ground floor, so no window to open for fresh air.

Review 120:Great reception staff. Very accommodating. We requested an early check-in, they telephoned to confirm. Breakfast was great, fast efficient, fresh, good staff.

Review 121:Housekeeping left something to be desired with a dirty fridge in the room, and room not completely cleaned each day.

Review 122:A great welcome to this hotel by management team. Pleasant and comfortable surroundings.

Review 123:Only downside was that there were a lot of stairs - my 81 year old Mum found it a bit hard going as she had to climb up and down stairs to get to the breakfast room/her room.

Review 124:We arrived quite late but were able to have a lovely meal in the bar area. We were travelling to the Hampton Court Flower Show and the staff gave us very helpful advice about using the public transport system (coming from Jersey we were not familiar with Oyster cards!)

Review 125:On arrival our extra bed had not been made up and the mattress appeared very stained and unpleasant. After a phonecall it was quickly replaced with an acceptable mattress.

Review 126:The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Review 127:No air con so room was very uncomfortable even though a fan was supplied. Fruit at breakfast was off although cooked breakfast was lovely.

Review 128:Staff were lovely and very helpful. Bar and court yard very comfortable.

Review 129:The drinks were very very expensive and does not encourage people to return. That is the reason we would not return and would not recommend it to friends

Review 130:The comfort and cleanliness. The staff were excellent especially Sheila who worked in the restaurant she is an asset to the hotel.

Review 131:Room too warm and A C didn't work very well. Curtain and pelmet needed fixing back up. Bottom sheet kept sliding out from under mattress each time duvet was pulled out, fitted sheets would be better

Review 132:Reception staff very nice Good location for Hampton Court Show

Review 133:Having stayed 3 times now over the last 5 years, it is looking a little tiered, and could do with a good clean, check out the skirting boards around the hotel.

Review 134:The staff were very helpful and friendly.

Review 135:Cleanliness was quite poor also the hotel needs a massive overhaul internally and the breakfast was terrible and overpriced

Review 136:The area

The Fine Print

Please note that the hotel charges a GBP 15 fee for pets.
