Reviews for Burnbrae B&B

Review 1:The only negative, not being smokers was the slight smell of stale smoke in hallway etc which we could still smell on ourselves and clothes after leaving.

Review 2:Loch side location. Very warm welcome from Janice - very accommodating. We stayed in the double room which was lovely and spacious, nice little extras in room, small decanter of sherry and chocs - lovely touch! Breakfast was lovely and views great from both bedroom and breakfast room. Very nice pub with open fires next door too which we ate in both nights - couldn't fault.

Review 3:As others have noted there is a strong aroma of cigarette in the room which for us as non smokers is unfortunate.

Review 4:Welcome was super including a warming sherry on a cold and windy afternoon. The room had WiFi, TV, DVD and CD player with DVD's and CD's to play. Plenty of options for breakfast, our choice of scrambled eggs and smoked salmon was delicious. Janice kindly offered to book us into the next door pub "The Village Inn" for supper which was helpful.

Review 5:Friendly atmosphere. Great attention to detail, lots of little personaltouches I. E complimentary small decanter of sherry and bowl of sweetsin the room on arrival. Nothing too much trouble. They allow pets, wishwe'd known, we'd have taken our dog with us. Situated on theloch side, so fantastic views. Will use this b+b again. Loved it.

Review 6:Beautifully appointed. The owners have gone the extra mile to make their visitors very comfortable and feel at home. Excellent full Scottish breakfast.

Review 7:it smelled strongly of tobacco, even though there was no smoking allowed. All of our clothing that we wore and in our suitcases ended up permeated with the smell of smoke

Review 8:The hostess was lovely, the breakfast was good, the location terrific. Convenient distance from Glasgow.

Review 9:Not my kind of decor in the room but apart from that if that's my only grumble then Janice will be happy :)

Review 10:Host was lovely, and B&b right next to pub. Little touches in the room too like complimentary sweets etc

Review 11:Unfortunately for us the smell of smoke in the property was very strong.

Review 12:The host was very friendly, the room was clean and had many additional extras, such as complimentary sherry & chocolates! She also took the trouble to book us into the pub next door for dinner as we weren't due to arrive until late and also kindly made us a take-away breakfast as we had to leave early.

Review 13:Instructions on the Web site made it difficult to find the place. The road name didn't show up in our GPS.

Review 14:Lovely spacious room and a great location on the Loch's edge. Breakfast was wonderful too.

Review 15:No bad experience

Review 16:Warm welcome. Generous hospitality Complimentary sherry and bonbons on arrival. The landlady telephoned the day before our arrival to ask if we would like her to book a meal at the Inn next door.

Review 17:Everything about this accommodation was excellent the landlady was lovely food was brilliant the whole experience was welcoming and friendly truly one of the best

Review 18:A bit of residual cigarette smell, did not bother me but those who are sensitive might find it offensive.

Review 19:Rustic location overlooking the loch. The room was vey cozy in an old Scottish kind ofway, good restaurant next door. Janis the proprietorwasvery nice and helpful, great breakfast.

Review 22:The location was great, with views of the loch, and at night you could hear the burn babbling outside. Room was a good size, with many thoughtful touches included. Breakfast was superb, with plenty of choices that it was almost too hard to choose.

Review 23:Having to pay cash is rather inconvenient these days!

Review 26:I booked this B&B for my two Aunts who were attending my father's (their brother) 80th Birthday Party. My Aunts have raved about their stay since and said that the owner had thought of absolutely everything. The room was spacious and comfortable and they would highly recommend to anyone:)

Review 30:One of the most unfriendly welcomes you could get outside of the prison system. House and rooms permanently shrouded in thick haze of cigarette smoke. Extremely child unfriendly.

Review 34:Very hospitable host, attractive surroundings, good food. Not particularly cheap, but good value

Review 35:the smell of cigarette smoke, slightly noticeable when there, more noticeable on your clothes when you got home, yet she didn't appear to smoke.

Review 36:Janice did everything to make our stay as pleasant and comfortable as possible, even booking our evening meals for us, making sure your breakfast was as you required and recommending tourist sites.

Review 37:The hostess was incredibly friendly and helpful, the room was brilliant, the view was magnificent and the breakfast was amazing. She even had vegemite for us Aussies! I can't say enough good things! We'd stay again in a heartbeat :-)

Review 38:Sadly and with regret I have to mention the smell of smoke. It's not Jan's fault as I imagine she is a heavy smoker and can no longer smell. But all my clothes had to be washed whether worn or not due to everything smelling like I'd been in a busy snokers pub 10 years ago. It's the only single thing that let it down but if you don't mind it then it certainly won't spoil your stay as everything else makes up for it.

Review 39:Jan was super friendly and did everything to ensure our stay was personally tailored to our needs, even anticipating them before we'd asked. Room was large and had all the extra little touches that made it really special and feel like a home away from home.

Review 40:Janice was a wonderful hostess, even making a booking at the Village Inn for dinner when we forgot! The B&B is excellent and the location superb. The views over the loch, even on a grey and rainy morning, were magical. Very good home made jams and marmalade too.

Review 41:Nothing

Review 42:Everything was catered for - really a home from home. Good food in the pub next door and an excellent breakfast. We would definitely stay there again.

Review 43:The toilet didn't work properly, There was a smell of cigarette smoke that came into the room at night. It actually woke me up. ??? Was someone downstairs smoking? The bathroom was not as clean as I would have expected at a four star.

Review 44:The room was large and well equipped, there were movies and CDs provided. The location was nice. Everything available at breakfast.

Review 45:Had a great stay. Lovely spot with great views. Room was excellent - everything you could need and spotlessly clean. I fantastic breakfast and nothing too much trouble.

Review 46:Terrific location in the Arrochar Alps.Very friendly owner, very good sized room with excellent sleigh bed, lovely bathroom and everything was really clean.

Review 47:On the first night we tried to flush the toilet and it would not work. So for the 2 nights we were there it did not work. Only way to flush it was with a kettle. This needs to be fixed.

Review 53:Friendly host. Nice breakfast. Makes packed lunches if you require any. Great location with view right on Loch Long, very close by to Loch Lomond (5min drive).

Review 54:Everything. Nothing overlooked to make the stay perfect from complimentary sherry through to needle and thread (if needed). Even a telephone call to ask in advance if we would like the restaurant next door booked (excellent as the restaurant was good and very busy).

Review 55:the only one drawback for people with back problems is that you have to carry your luggage to your room on the first floor.

Review 56:Very clean, comfortable with the very hospitable and professional owner making the stay a great experience. Excellent breakfast, comfortable beds - highly recommended...

Review 57:We didn't realise this B&B is cash-only (it says so at the bottom of the booking.com page), which lead to some awkwardness in the morning, but Janice was understanding and we were able to sort out payment later so this wasn't an issue. One slight issue was that there is a vague smell of cigarette smoke in the house, and we could smell this on our clothes afterwards. However, this is only a minor point when everything else was so perfect and we were made to feel so welcome.

Review 58:We were very pleasantly surprised by all the thoughtful touches provided by host Janice, which included all the usual tea and coffee facilities, as well as a small decanter of complimentary sherry, a selection of CDs and DVDs in the room, sweets, biscuits, complimentary toothbrushes and razors. Janice also booked us into the busy restaurant next door (highly recommended) to ensure we had a place to eat after a long drive. Overall the room was very comfortable and very well furnished.
