Reviews for Hotel New Hankyu Osaka
Review 1:The curtain is too thin and transparent ,every day I was awakened by sunshine at 8. The airconditioner is weak, the room is too cold, the blanket they offered is too thin too...I was awaken by cold temperature at midnight. The wall between room is thin, can hear the noise from the next room
Review 2:The wi-fi was appalling. I could not connect on many occasions. My room was at the end of a long corridor, but this should not be an excuse for a hotel like this. Would choose not to stay here again because of this.
Review 3:Good location. Very friendly staff.
Review 4:Room size
Review 5:The staff were very attentive , breakfast was great with an option of japanese set, english set or buffet breakfast, the best location, very easy access to osaka station and shopping centres, the room is abit small but its equipped with all the amenities you need
Review 6:Rooms can get a bit warm during winter because i think its a law in Japan not to have airconditining during winter for energy conservation. But this was just a minor inconvenience.
Review 7:Location location location. There is a money changer below the hotel at the train station arcade which is open 7 days a week & have excellent exchange rates. Friendly front desk staff. Good lunch buffet at the coffee shop which is popular even with locals. Airport bus literally is right in front of the hotel entrance.
Review 8:Price is steep for the size and quality of the rooms, which are undoubtedly getting a bit dated. Only one pillow provided by default.
Review 9:Great location, if a little hard to find at first from Osaka station. Professional, courteous and efficient staff. Clean rooms.
Review 10:Not too convenient for family with wheelchair-bound member
Review 11:Comfortable and excellent location, just beside the Osaka bus station and major subways. Many eateries and restaurants that suit different pocket sized and wide varieties. Perfect horel for biz travel
Review 12:Bed was a bit uncomfortable but slept the entire night. Pillow is hard and soft on each side. "H" on AC means hot, not high. But despite that, would stay here again because of the close proximity to train and subway.
Review 13:This large hotel is conveniently located next to the JR station, subway, shopping and restaurants which is great! Helpful English speaking staff. Depart the train station to the hotel on the street level and not via the bridge as suggested by a train station staff. Otherwise, you will need to carry your suitcases down the stairway.
Review 14:Room is too small.
Review 15:Location. Very easy access to airport with airport limo drop and depart just in front of the hotel. Pretty close to train station and subway. Many shops, dept stores and restaurants within a few minutes walk.
Review 16:The hotel is huge. So it can take quite a walk to get to your room even after you have gotten to your floor. While my room was clean and neat, and it's thoughtful they have USB charger (with multiple cords), the decor was very dated. Reception staff were a bit cold.
Review 17:The biggest plus is the location. Connected to Osaka and Umeda stations, it is very convenient to go places, and one doesn't even need to go outdoor to go to the nearby malls and department stores. The airport bus station is also just right there. Cannot be more convenient!
Review 18:I got exactly what I wanted, a comfy bed to sleep in, not too many other frills, but in a very handy location. Waffles in the ground floor cafe were very good too
Review 19:Nothing to complain about.
Review 20:Love the location -- so close to Osaka/ Umeda station, as well as the bus station! Room was clean and also more comfortable and spacious than expected.
Review 21:Hard pillows which is usual in Japanese hotels.
Review 22:The airport bus stops right in front of the hotel. Money changer/bank with good rates, which is open everyday, is below the hotel at the train station. Many restaurant choices. The hotel buffet is good because it is also popular with the locals.
Review 23:The bedroom was abominably small-the double bed had no space between the walls on two sides and a window sill on a third. One of the occupants had to climb over the other in order to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night. It is essentially suitable only for a Japanese business man.
Review 24:The bus from Kansai airport gets you right to the hotel entrance. The railway stations for local and other destinations such as Kobe and Kyoto are essentially next door.
Review 25:The room is quite small, I ordered standard one bed room for 2 persons, there's only a narrow aisle between the sofa and the bed. I don't even have enough place to open my luggage. But it's acceptable for this price at downtown area.
Review 26:The location is perfect, it's really convenience to take a railway or subway. And there's so many big shopping malls nearby. Breakfast is good, many choices. Hotel staff are all very nice. Bathroom is very clean.
Review 27:Needs complete reno, room, stuffy, had to call hotel to open windows. Asall rooms are control by one aircond controller in hotel, room smellsewage pipes terribly, each cant be individually controlled, this is21st century and its japan, .. Staff in hospitality in Japan need tolearn to speak and understand English better. Some gues smoked from nextroom s I could detect the smoke.dont eat dinner buffet, full ripoff as everyone only has a flay plate you can hardly put rice on it. lots of places to eat nearby..
Review 28:Location location location, make sure u bring fat wallet. This hotel hasspecial deals with chinese tourists who come in with kids to disneylandsand universla studios, so donty stay here if u dont like kids andfamilies wityh poorly mannered chinese tourists
Review 29:Expensive for the quality of hotel . Tiny room and very plain furniture . Bed mattress was not smooth , bumpy
Review 30:The location . Surounding department stores and ....... Airport bus right infront
Review 31:I really like the place, easy access to all like Umeda Sky Building, Hep Five Ferris, going to Universal Studios, etc.... Airport Limousine is right beside the hotel. Next time I visit Osaka, I will stay again at Hotel New Hankyu Osaka
Review 32:From my room you can't see the city through the window. And you can't open the window, poor wifi signal. A bit too expensive for the conditions offered.
Review 33:The location is perfect near the train station. Very easy to reach the Kansai Airport thanks to the shuttle bus next to the hotel.
Review 34:The price was a bit steep for just two nights and given the room I had, it didn't quite feel like the price matched the room quality
Review 35:It was very close to the heart of Umeda and Osaka. It had a wide range of shops around the hotel
Review 36:The utilities are old but acceptable. There are not many outlets for use, which means I have to charge my phone, my camera and mobile wifi kit all with my laptop. The location is at central Umeta, which means you have to tolerate the noise.
Review 37:Locates at the center of Umeta area, which means you can approach anything in a walking distance. The service is so nice. (maybe the avg level of Japan? lol) Only by considering the place and the quality, I say the price is reasonable.
Review 38:The room is very small with hardly space to walk if you have luggage bags. The bed is also too soft and uncomfortable.
Review 39:Location of the hotel which is easily accessible via train and convenience of getting the airport bus. The staff at reception is polite and helpful but spoke little English.
Review 40:1. The staffs do not speak fluent English. 2. The toilet is smelly 3. The single room is extremly small and the decoration is out of date. 4.The isolation is bad, you hear the train running in mid-night and everything in the corridor. 5.Even with the all the weakness, it's still expensive, 130euros per night. low ratio quality/price
Review 41:Frankly, the location is very good. Next to Osaka station and many shopping centers. But it's the only advantage.
Review 42:There is another route to the hotel that has an elevator, but the instruction didn't mention it, otherwise you have to go down two flights of steps from the Bridge
Review 43:A small room that was good for one person
Review 44:Room is too small, facility is the basic.
Review 45:Location is good, close to the Osaka stat. But, you must know how to find the way to the hotel from such a big stat, otherwise, you will be lost.
Review 46:Toilet with smell and towel is not clean
Review 47:The location is amazing but the facility is quite old and not very clean with towel as well as the smell in toilet.
Review 48:The size but it was expected.
Review 49:Considering it was a budget hotel, it came with some "extras amenities" that was offered in our 5-star hotel in Tokyo (Cerrulean), like clean pajamas everyday and fabric refresher inside the closets. The location was the best! Airport limousine is right in front and it's the first stop from KIX. Lots of shops and restaurants/cafes in the area. Train station just in front.
Review 50:It is a little bit pricey.
Review 51:excellent location. Very close to both Umeda station (subway) and Osaka station (JR) and surrounded by facilities such as Department stores, restaurants, shopping arcade, convenient stores etc. Highly recommended if you travel with elders (wheelchair)
Review 52:Thin walls between rooms. Could hear conversations in the hallway.
Review 53:Location. Really convenient, easy access to Umeda and Osaka station. Easy access to 3 large stores - Daimaru, Hankyu and Hanshin.
Review 54:Wifi internet is available but unbelievably slow sometimes - this must be fixed for a modern hotel, otherwise this hotel is in the dark ages. However, it could be the location of my room but it should be consistent. Also, there should be a transparent window - my room has little natural light and at 10th floor, I could not even look out the window (which is sealed and translucent).
Review 55:Good set of toiletries provided. Good tea facilities. Location is fantastic!
Review 56:Check in staff with extremely poor job knowledge , I have to spent 30 mins to check in Staff are not friendly and not even familiar with the tourist spot in Osaka Most of the staff do not have customer service The light signage outside the hotel was unserviceable
Review 57:breakfast buffet is good , with lots of varieties
Review 58:Room is very small but clean.
Review 59:best location for airport shuttle. Major subways and JR Osaka Station are all within short walking diatance. Food courts and lots of restaurants next to the hotel.
Review 60:The spring bed was a little hard and the one pillow was too small. The room needed to be aired of cigarette smell. The big chair should be replaced with a smaller one for easier movement in this single room.
Review 61:Excellent location, easy walking distance to shops/department stores, restaurants of all types, transport & bus from/to airport right next door. The hotel and its staff are very pleasant.
Review 62:I was initially assigned to a room which the renovation was and the drilling sound jolted me out of my sleep 8.55am. This was unacceptable. There was no blackout curtains in the room therefore the room will be bright when it's daytime. I requested for a change of room and the new room was so much better and there was no renovation works there. The walls are quite thin and I can hear the talking of the travelers and also when the housekeepers were making their rounds. The noise isolation is pretty bad and you can even hear your neighbors opening their doors with their keys.
Review 63:The location of this hotel is really good which provided access to the major train stations like hankyu railway as well. It takes about 5 mins walk to the Osaka train station which provided access to the JR Lines. The service of the staff are good and they kept apologizing for the construction.
Review 64:Bed was pretty hard. Internet was not very fast.
Review 65:The best localization in the city - just near train station and the main communication hub in the city, as well as shopping area. From this point of view it was one of the best hotels in my life.
Review 66:Located at the city centre adjacent to the railway and subway stations, the hotel is easily accessible. With shopping malls surround the hotel, you will enjoy great shopping experience there.
Review 67:Room was cramped. Bed was hard as rock and caused back ache. Staff in restaurant were snobby. Compared to other hotels where we stayed on this trip this was poor and not value for money
Review 68:The pillow make my neck ache, the room soundproof have to be more thick so the sound from next room can not be heard, the room and shower is already old and have to redecorate and renew.
Review 69:The location is great, near and link directly by subway station, the staff were nice and sprightful. Also they provide airport limousine bus so we don't have to take train or taxi for 50km to Kansai International Airport. Great!
Review 70:The mattress really need some upgrade. It feels like twenty-ish years old. Also, the wif-Fi is very very slow from 6pm-12pm. They really should upgrade the to accomidate the heavy use of it.
Review 71:The location of the hotel is superb. Close to metro and all the big shopping mall. Also, there are a lot of restuarnt around, and next to the limousin station to the airporst.
Review 72:Staff refused to book us a taxi for our departure the following morning. Changed double room to twin, but twin room still very small so had to change to single rooms for all 3 of us. Two of the rooms had windows that couldn't be seen through.
Review 73:Location.
Review 74:The hotel is very accessible... Very near to osaka and umeda stations which is the center of osaka... The room is clean not that big but comfortable for us...
Review 75:Osaka in general opens at around 10am for department stores and 11am for restaurants, so unless you get the breakfast hotel, there are also very few restaurants in the area that isn't inside a mall ot building...
Review 76:The hotel is situated above a subway station, and across Osaka station, when going to and from different places, this location is the most convenient. The airport limousine (bus) stops right in front of the lobby which is also a plus factor. if you are coming from Kansai international airport.
Review 77:The western breakfast tastes bad. The Japanese breakfast is good but the same items every morning. No choice.
Review 78:Location. Free WiFi. Enough toiletry. Clean.
Review 79:Didn't always get the expected level of Japanese customer service; for example I had two suitcases, one of which was super heavy. No one helped, offered or provided me with a dolly at check in. I was able to call a porter at check out though.
Review 80:Excellent location, check out time and meal flexibility
Review 81:The hotel dates from 1964, nothing 'New' unlike the name of the hotel might suggest. Altough very tired when we arrived the room was so depressing we decided to go out. I have never been in such an outdated and dirty hotel like this. In Tokyo we stayed in a really new four star hotel for a lower same rate. The only hotel in our trip where the breakfastbuffet starts at 7 AM and not 6:30 AM. This hotel should be banned from this site.
Review 82:5' walking distance from Osakastation.
Review 83:To noisy, many uncivilized tourists, talking along the isles in the middle of night with very high voice.
Review 84:The location, easy access to and from airport bus, close by to many food place
Review 85:First time I have booked a single room with bed for 2 people, there is absolutely no space in room to put you luggage. make sure you are booking double for a couple
Review 86:hotel needs some updates and renovation but overall it`s good for the money it cost, a/c working, all the essentials in bathroom, nothing ordinary but fair
Review 87:Toilet was broken, but staff was more than willing to relocate us to a new room. Also, the non-smoking rooms seems to always be sold out.
Review 88:Location is excellent, right next to Osaka Station, lots of activity, many eating spots, and shopping in the immediate area.
Review 89:Very big hotel with no personality, feels outdated and dark. Nothing which would distinguish it from other average hotels. I wouldn't book it again.
Review 90:Good location. Rooms are practical and beds reasonable comfortable.
Review 91:No english TV channels. Room hallway too narrow. But this wont stop me staying here again next.
Review 92:Splendid breakfast buffet spread, included free. Super close promixity to umeda subway station/osaka JR station. Compact room despite a triple bedded room, but very comfy and clean. Doesnt smell smoke. Staff were super helpful and comes with a smile, everytime. And most speak at least simple english which made our life much easier. Check in and out were a breeze. Airport bus limousine station is just outside the hotel. Yen1550 only to kansai, one way/ per adult. I do recommend to others. Best place to stay in the middle of city.
Review 93:The first room they gave us was ridiculously small. They was nk room for our luggage. We asked the reception to change the room, they did but i had to pay extra. Not very accomodating. The hotel needs to be rremodeled. Disgusting carpet in the hallways and rooms. Bed was extremely small. Bathroom was pink. Nothing like the photos. If i hadn't already paid i would have left.
Review 94:The location, free wi-fi, and breakfast were the only two good things about this property
Review 95:I have stayed at many hotels in Japan with small rooms but this one has the worst sound proof. I can hear people talking ( they were not even shouting) all night long...and when other people opened their door, it sounded like they were opening mine...I didn't sleep week at all.
Review 96:Location
Review 97:Could be more generous with bottled waters. The long corridors leading to the rooms could do a lighting improvement.
Review 98:Right by JR Umeda Station. Really helpful housekeeping staff.
Review 99:only smoking room available. the whole room stinks of cigarette. that's the only thing i can't stand.
Review 100:The location, shower is great and the bed is not too bad
Review 101:The Wifi was very bad. I was to have a conference call in a 1/2 hour and could not get on the wifi. This was at 11:30 PM. I called the front desk and they said a lot of people were using it and to try back later. Thank heavens I have a hot spot card. Buffet breakfast was not refilled adequately many dishes were empty. This was at 7:45 am.
Review 102:The location was great
Review 103:Old facility requires renovation, awful Lobby ambience crowded and with few seats available. Room and batroom extremely small with cheap furniture.
Review 104:good location directly accessible by bus from both Airports. Steps to main railway station and shopping mall
Review 105:room is a bit small for double bed. twin bed was better.
Review 106:location, location and location. easy access to JR and Hankyu railway. perfect location for shopping.
Review 107:The public restroom had a funky smell in the hand dryer giving the impression it wasn't cleaned. Not sure if this a negative, but this hotel uses actual keys for the rooms instead of magnet stripe or NFC cards like other hotels in Japan (something I didn't expect).
Review 108:This is one of the closest hotels to Osaka station with great shopping nearby. For a single traveler, the rooms were nice and it came with great amenities. The staff was friendly and helpful as well.
Review 109:I didn't have a very nice view from the window, but that was cancelled out from the start by the perfect location.
Review 110:The staff were extremely friendly and helpful from the moment we arrived. The room was extremely comfortable and didn't smell of smoke despite smoking allowed in the hotel.
Review 111:Breakfast could have been better with different menus offered.
Review 112:Location is fantastic, as it is centre of everything, the English-speaking staff are friendly, helpful.
Review 113:room is a little bit tinny
Review 114:location!near JR、Kintetsu、Midosuji lines,Umeda Station, these stations are connected, and all have the underground entrances to all the Malls. Convenient living circles.
Review 115:none
Review 116:the staff are very helpful in every way and can speak and understand English the location is good many places of interest near the hotel airport limousine bus stop in the hotel
Review 117:Walls between rooms are too thin, one can hear the conversation from the other room. This is annoying if the other room has small kids that always play and shout.
Review 118:The location - very near shops and restaurants, and malls; very good for shopping souvenirs and other items. The hotel's location is also very near the JR Osaka and Umeda stations, which make it a very good base to visit various tourist attractions in Osaka. You can have several options for your meals - not only breakfast. You can either take breakfast or lunch in 2 of the hotel's restaurants. Another restaurant gives an added choice of taking a bottle of beer. The buffet breakfast itself in one of the restaurants has very good spread/choices. The wifi is fairly fast.
Review 119:Our first room is terrible, it is smoking room alright, but would that mean that the smoke from other rooms will also come to our room because of the ac?? And the noise from the train is terrible also. (Our 1st room is on the 10th flr onthe corner) We were transferred to thE 6th floor non smoking room-great. But the wifi only works if youre near the door or inside the bathroom. The wifi is non-existent from the bed. Our room is 6056. Do not choose that room if youre internet dependent traveller.
Review 120:i love that it is so near the osaka station and has direct access to the hankyu railway. I also love that the airport limousine bus to kansai and the itami airport is just beside the hotel.
Review 121:The room size is extremely small and the facilities are very old. I stayed at this hotel once almost 20 years ago and I can say that it is still the same. With this price, I think you are only paying for the location.
Review 122:The location of this hotel is right in the centre of Umeda with airport shuttle bus right next to the hotel
Review 123:An old hotel of the 50s. Not much rennovaton afterwards. The room is very small and very basic. Ceiling is low.Toilet is smell. Badly sound-proof. People talking in the corridor and next door can be heard. Noise of door banging is particularly disturbing. Windows facing a set of engines with no view at all. Terribly over-priced during our stay: JPY28000 per night while it is worth only half of the price. Will not recommend this hotel except for its excellent location.
Review 124:The location is connected to all trains and numberous shops and restaurants. Airport buses reach the hotel directly. But it's not a final stop when leaving, so need to queue up early as there may not be many seats left when the bus arrives. The room and towels are adequately clean.
Review 125:Windows could not open.
Review 126:Location is excellent. Just next to the airport limousine bus stop for Kansai Airport. Large hotel with many restaurants and shops surrounding it.
Review 127:The hotel is a 50 year old property and it is due for an update. The long corridors leading to the room could have warmer lighting.
Review 128:Convenient location. Plenty of amenities nearby. Airport buses right by the door.
Review 129:Impersonal, too much big groups of rude people, bed for a couple 110cm wide ???, lot of food place at crazy prices for average food. Try not to go there
Review 130:Just the location
Review 131:Excellent location! I love how we were just a few meters away from Osaka Station City. I also left my battery pack in my room and the reception kept it safe for me for a few days.
Review 132:buffet breakfast spread very limited and basic. Better to eat at the small shops along the small street beside the hotel. Good size bowl of udon at only 300-400yen
Review 133:very convenience with big shopping mall around and direct airport express bus
Review 134:Staff are not very accommodating . Kept on saying that they were fully booked but they were not when you prove further. Not too helpful when asking for stuff. It's too busy a hotel and many guests so I guess they can't attend to all. Some rooms are extremely tiny.
Review 135:Location is great.
Review 136:Rooms are tiny and very poorly isolated. You can hear people speaking at the other end of the hallway. The window could not be opened. The entry door of the hotel is hard to find from inside the train station.
Review 137:The shower was nice. Wifi reasonably fast. Location is great.
Review 138:The room is so small. A singe bed two person have to squee on it. Wanted to pay a bit more for upgrades. Hotel say rooms are full
Review 139:The hotel staff are able to converse in English
Review 140:Small room, small bed
Review 141:walking distance to Osaka station. Very close to shopping centre like Luqua, Grand Front Osaka, Umeda Hankyu, etc. Surrounded by food shops.
Review 142:I don't want to say about terrible night about horrible service.Plz. Don't stay this worst place, if you don't want to ruin yourgood mood.
Review 143:Just location.
