Reviews for La Victoire
Review 1:Amazing and friendly staff - a few steps from old city - safe underground parking right opposite hotel (under sand covered square) we had a corner room looking over street - great sound proofing from street - but not room next door..
Review 2:Room VERY small, sqm used for corridor instead of room, room under the roof, bed size and ceiling higth only for midgets, lift out of order, wi-fi out of order upon arrival. Many restrictions.
Review 3:Location excellent. Friendly staff, clean an quiet room
Review 4:Nothing too bad: The polished concrete bathroom floor was slippery when wet..and the exposed plumbing was slightly off-putting.
Review 5:Location was awesome...right on the square ...AND no street noise due great windows. ALL the staff we met were sincere and helpful..very refreshing.
Review 6:The room is very small, with no chair to sit in (only 2 impossible plastic stools). Tiny screen TV did not work (we don't really care). Noise from neighboring room. Flight of stairs to climb to get in. Bathtub turned into shower only. Parking a bit problematic.
Review 7:Excellent location for visiting Vence, and the staff are very nice and helpful. View of square without noise from the street.
Review 8:A good of example of a renovation in an old building where compromises are made. In this case my bathroom had a very low ceiling and a poorly designed shower recess
Review 9:Very centrally located with friendly and helpful staff. Good WIFI.
Review 10:fantastic, friendly, personal service from our host, delightful room, beautifully kept hotel, great location in the square just outside the town walls
Review 11:La Victoire is a small hotel, 15 rooms, in a perfect location with restaurants and bars on the doorstep. The staff are friendly and helpful and the rooms are kept very clean. The breakfast is excellent value , 9 euros, with a choice of fresh fruit, cereals, yogurts, croissants and assorted breads. Friendly, helpful staff.
Review 12:Can't think of anything I didn't like and I rarely score anyone this high, It is a funky adorable that not everyone would like. Don't come if you want american standard!
Review 13:The hotel is darling and very convenient to the plaza and old town with parking directly underneath. The staff knocked themselves out for us with tips for what we like.
Review 14:Our only slight negative was the car park. It was a challenge getting our medium size car around some of the tight corners. And to get the lowest parking cost, you have to drive out and in at least once a day. We only did it once during our 3 day stay.
Review 15:Location!! Overlooking the square and just outside one of the gates to the old city. The bus to the coast is just 100s of metres up the street. This bus also connects to the trains which go along the coast. Saint-Paul de Vence is only two stops away on the bus. The staff are super helpful in explaining where the restaurants are and how to get around.
Review 16:The welcome upon arrival was exemplary with everything explained including recommendations for local restaurants. We were shown our rooms which were ideal and very clean. The location on the edge of the town square and adjacent to the gateway into the old town could not have been better. The nearest car park is underground in the square and about 30 meters away. The entrance and exit to the car park is a little tight for a large car. The owner and the receptionist were first class and spoke excellent English and couldn't do enough to help us during our stay. The breakfast was good and so relaxed. I wish that I could have stayed longer. This hotel is recommended without reservation.
Review 17:This is a charming small hotel, located next to the old city walls and a short walk from the bus stop. Pierre was wonderfully helpful in suggestions as to local activities. A great place to stay near St Paul, without the price.
Review 18:Nathalie and Pierre were very nice and helpful. Although I arrived early, before 12pm, Pierre checked me right away, which was very considerate of him. The room was simple but nice enough.
Review 19:The owner, ' Pierre' went out of his way to make me welcome and comfortable. Also helped with train schedule above and beyond the call of duty.
Review 20:We had a to floor room (which we had requested, I admit) but it was sort of a dormer and the window was located at below waste level, a weird perspective on the world but the bed and size otherwise were comfortable and we enjoyed our interactions with the staff..
Review 21:Very accommodating and nice staff, easy, genuine. Comfortable reception experience.
Review 22:The light in the hallway was not on as it blew out in the storm before we arrived. Also the light near the lift was so dim you could hardly see. The bed was very well worn to the point of being uncomfortable.
Review 23:Pierre and his wife were helpful.
Review 24:Compact room - but well equipped, blue LED on the TV!
Review 25:Wonderful location at the gate to the old city, with the market right there in the square on the Friday morning. Brasserie by the front door. Charming and helpful staff, easy access to discounted parking.
Review 26:Vence is small and good for just a few days , but other areas can be reached easily by car. Rooms are small also.
Review 27:Value, location and welcome. Easy walking distance to everything in Vence with good recommendations given. Air conditioned rooms.
Review 28:Everything was good! Maybe to be improved, the parking should be free for customers and the breakfast included
Review 29:The location, the stuff and the decoration.
Review 30:A small but welcoming hotel with very helpful and friendly staff. It has easy access to the historic centre of Vence, the local restaurants, fresh food market, shops and bus connections to both St Paul and Nice.
Review 31:The staff were very friendly. Room was small but clean and comfortable. Parking is available at a location one city block away at a discounted price
Review 32:At night it's quiet but only if you close the windows. Those who prefer to sleep with open windows (like us) will have to tolerate some noise at night in case of music festival and early morning (market preparations). If you know this it's still a very good place to stay.
Review 33:Staff/owners are very welcoming, helpful and flexible and give you a great personal approach. Wonderful location on main town square with small morning market (and a big one on Fridays) and "Nuits du Sud" music festival on summer evenings. Nice and original interior design. Not like in chain hotels. Refreshing. Good cheap parking deal.
Review 34:Owner very friendly and helpful. Nice breakfast. Very central for old town yet very quiet
Review 35:Friendly, courteous and efficient service
Review 36:Very friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable room with great view.
Review 37:the location was great just near the old city and the recomandation of traveling and restaurant were excelent. very nice stuff.

Review 58:Helpful staff and very comfortable accommodation.
Review 59:Breakfast uninspiring as always in France
Review 60:Central location, english spoken by owner.
Review 61:close to old town
Review 62:On our floor passageway lighting was very poor. Breakfast was very basic.
Review 63:People were very friendly and helpful, offering a laundry service.
Review 64:Noise from outside
Review 65:The parking lot which was very narrow for driving and we unfortunately scraped the side of the car.
Review 66:The brilliant concierge
Review 67:Nothing , you get what it says on the tin.
Review 68:Extremely helpful staff , great central location
Review 69:well cared-for, very friendly owner, central position next to historic town, comfortable room.
Review 70:Liked everything
Review 71:Everything; location, premises, breakfast and excellent staff.
Review 72:Great location, lovely staff. Nice big, clean room.
Review 73:Staff were fantastic, couldn't do enough to accommodate us and make our stay happy easy and memorable.
Review 74:No Negatives
Review 75:Excellent Location. Friendly, Helpful Staff. Good Value. Highly recommended.
Review 76:Nothing..
Review 77:Great stay thanks to hosts.. Being Aussies and not used to late open hours for dinner, tied & hungry, we brought food to the hotel. We didn't know the "no food policy" at that time but Nathalie gave us plates etc to eat in room.. we gave her our inedible stinky cheese in return.. all treated with good humour in the end.. which we appreciated.. thanks Pierre.. and love the GnR pictures on the walls... Great location, really helpful and friendly operators!
Review 78:We couldn't stay longer.
Review 79:Fantastic staff who had perfect english and couldn't be more helpful. Brilliant location next to the spectacular old town. Cheap and secure parking. The hotel was great, the room was lovely and we had an amazing stay. Thank you so much N&P x
Review 80:location was lovely, and people in the hotel were fully available to gve us information and advices. Our room was little, but very clean and silent. wifi also fully functional. the hotel gave us discount for parking. very good quality-price ratio.
Review 81:Pierre, was a very helpful and engaging person. Perfect location, our room looked out to the entrance of the Medieval City, excellent restaurants, and the best breakfasts. Teresa & Simon
Review 82:When asking whether the continental breakfast was included in the room price, we were told that it was. However at the end of the visit, we were charged. We would have preferred to buy this on our own, since the price was quite high.
Review 83:Pierrre was extremely helpful and courteous. Loved the hotel and location overlooking the square in quaint and beautiful Vence. Also we really enjoyed the cafe below,
Review 84:That we had to leave.
Review 85:The hotel was located on the town square close to the old town. We felt like part of the local community almost at once. The hotel staff(particularly one of the owners, Nathalie) were very friendly and helpful.
Review 86:Unfortunately there was no lift from the entrance to the first floor, where the location's located, but there is from the reception tothe rooms. We would've also appreciated some tea/coffeefacilities as well.
Review 87:-The staff were very friendly, approachable, spoke English fluently andwere willing to offer their recommendations.- The location. Right in the entrance of the old town and Vence is also a good base if you want to explore the area around (St Paul de Vence, Eze, Tourretes sur Loup etc). -The deal they offer for discounted parking in front of the hotel, right in the heart of the town. -The room was modern and we were lucky to get one with nice, corner view. -The free wi fi connection. -The soap and shower gel dispensers. It's handier than the usual bottles offered. -The long pillow for 2! :-)
Review 88:Room 22: the shower curtain must be long to protect the flooding of the floor, but the lower part of the curtain becomes filthy as it is wet and any bug can live on it. As you are in shower you have to fight for room with the handle of the tap. Try to put it in the corner of the shower cubicle or to get another type of the tap with rotating handle. The above is to be understood as the famous constructive feed back.
Review 89:The old city and restaurants just round the corner. Parking was no problem.
Review 90:Parking is a problem and would be extra, but this is indicated in the room booking so just be mindful of that. Breakfast is very basic.
Review 91:We enjoyed the location. Everything and old town is walking distance from the hotel. We were staying in room 24 which had a great view over the plaza. Pierre, the manager was especially helpful and we really enjoyed our stay. We would totally recommend this place.
Review 92:It is a small hotel, and the rooms are not spacious. Hopwever htis is more htan outweighed by the friendliness and helpfull nature of the staff.
Review 93:the staff were phenomenal, the welcome genuine, and the place had lots of character. The breakfast was great - good ingredients, and it just suited us perfectly.
Review 94:The stairs up to the hotel lobby needed to have a railing to hold on to at the right height all the way up the stairs.
Review 95:The owners, Pierre and Nathalie, were friendly and helpful. The hotel was in a perfect location in Vence, on the main square and just a half block from the old part of town. The city parking garage was right across the street, and the parking fee was paid for by the hotel. The room was very quiet.
Review 96:Bathrooms clean and plenty of hot water etc. but could do with being updated.
Review 97:Central location in Vence, with more than a dozen restaurants within 400m.
Review 98:Very basic breakfast : rushed affair, no real personal attention. Backstreet feeling due to poor entrance - welcomed by very steep staircase, quite safety unfriendly although hotel manager did carry suitcases downthe steps- Hotel, supposedly 3 star hotel (?), does not offer facilitiesexpected for this category of hotels.
Review 99:Proximity of old town. Hotel manager quite friendly.
Review 100:Breakfast was a bit light compared to others we have had for the same price. Had a few problems with the WIFI may be because we were on the top floor...
Review 101:Good location to Vence. Friendly staff
Review 102:The staff was helpful but not available around the evenings when youcome back from a long day visiting and need help. The facilities inthe shower was poor, the heater was broken and the shower itself wasnot working very well. Unlike most hotels in Europe, the rooms didnot have safe individually. The hotel's breakfast was very basicsince you have to order eggs the night before if you like some inthe next morning. Overall, comparing to the price the rate of theservice was poor.
Review 103:The location was very good, it was on the corner of the main street infront of the main square. 1 minute walk to the entrance of the old townwhich is the high light of Vence.
Review 104:The brilliant location right in the middle of Vence. Adjacent to the town square and the historic part of the city. Abundant excellent restaurants close by as well as cafes and bars. Car park across the road. Bus to St Paul, Nice etc a few minutes walk away. Markets in the old town as well as town square. Great base for exploring the Riviera and inland. fantastic staff, very friendly and always willing to offer suggestions for restaurants etc.
Review 105:Really helpful and friendly staff. The position of the hotel (right by the historic centre) is superb, and you are right in the midst of village life. There is easy parking very close to the hotel too.
Review 106:Small hotel very well located. Friendly and helpfull staff. The rooms are small but well equipped, parking available within 2 minutes walk from the hotel.
Review 107:Over promising on the website Rooms extremely small AC non functional, had to sleep with windows open, since this is right in the city center....it's noisy to sleep with open windows. Room Cleaning was done very badly
Review 108:The coffee and the chocolate come out of a water machine… definitely notvery good. Yet not the worst I've ever drank either :)
Review 109:The owners / tenants were very nice.
Review 110:Rooms are snug
Review 111:This is an exceptionally well positioned, friendly, tidy and welcoming hotel and staff right in the middle of town and adjacent to the old city area. Parking is available opposite at significant discount and cheap. The only potential is is the small size of the rooms but as long as you are out and about this isn't and issue. The price and value otherwise are excellent as is the owner Natalie.
Review 112:The rooms are very basic, no frills, but very clean + you get whatyou pay for.
Review 113:Nathalie + Pierre are lovely, very helpful + bubbly, friendly people whomade our stay a pleasure ! It is in a fantastic position with easyaccess to fabulous restaurants, boulangeries + boutiques. The busservice is fantastic + Nice is only 50mins away and only costs 1 euro !!
Review 114:La Victoire is in a great location. It was close to everything in Vence. It was an easy stroll to great restaurants at night, We loved looking out our window on to the square below and watching the local people setting up the market and going about their everyday business.Nathalie was a wonderful warm and friendly owner who made our stay in Vence so special.
