Reviews for Lochside Guest House
Review 1:The bathroom in room 3 is very small and the beds were creaky. As others have said, the walls are thin, but fine if you have ear plugs.
Review 2:The guesthouse is in a great location with beautiful views of the Loch, especially in the breakfast room. The breakfast was great and very generous portions. The staff member we met was friendly and answered any questions we had. The room was very clean and brightly coloured and the heating worked really well. We were by the roadside but traffic noise was not an issue.
Review 3:Not sure how long I could of stayed without boredom setting in but great for a night or weekend!
Review 4:Views of the loch..fantastic pub next door.. And the best breakfast I've ever hAd!
Review 5:There was a lot of movement upstairs from the room above , really noisy from 5-6 am onwards. Squeaking floorboards , with people walking back and forth .
Review 6:Staff are very friendly , rooms are immaculate and decorated to high standard . Fabulous location !
Review 7:Nothing to dislike all good
Review 8:Everything!! I really cant fault this Guest House from the moment I arrived till I left was made welcome the Manager Meg was so polite and attended to all my requests I have stayed in a lot of big hotels and the service from this one was the best I have received The breakfast was outstanding and it helped the hangover!!! the food from the bar next door was top notch prices at bar were fair all in all cant fault it Wakening up to the view from the bedroom window well all I can say is WOW!!!! Well done to Meg and her staff I will be returning ASAP BIG THANKS!!!
Review 9:My bedroom faced the street so it was awfully noisy with the trucks passing under my window. Not restful at all. Very dommageable on the overall experience.
Review 10:Welcoming staff. Great location along the loch, nice view from the breakfast room Nice breakfast with a lot a fruits
Review 11:We were asked to pay cash for the room upfront which we did. I later realised my credit card had also been charged. Lucky I checked. Front staff were no where to be seen to get a refund. Not a good experience.
Review 12:The hotel was in a lovely location. The room was basic but pleasant. The breakfast was excellent. Nicest porridge I've tasted.
Review 13:The B&B was attached to a pub, run by the same people. Although the food was ok - they failed to mention the Village Inn which was a million times nicer with also good good. The walls of the room were thin so I was kept awake by snoring 1 evening.
Review 14:The breakfasts were great. The room was well decorated with nice furniture. Had a great view.
Review 15:The beautiful view from the room. The lovely breakfast room and the the great breakfast. Wish we could have spent some more time in this beautiful area. If we ever get the chance to return we will definitely do so.
Review 16:Check light fittings work; this wasn't the only place we stayed where lighting/fittings didn't work 100%.
Review 17:Very pleasant receptionist offering a choice of rooms. selected one adjacent to breakfast room & very close to where we could park safely & bring in luggage. Great outlook over inlet. Handy to the pub for evening meal. Breakfast excellent.
Review 18:We walked into restaurant next door at 2 minutes past eight and they refused to serve us. So they lost our custom for the rest of the week
Review 19:Everything about the place was superb and a great location to explore this beautiful part of Scotland.
Review 20:Our only complaint is that there didn't seem to be many staff around. This made it very inpersonal. Very difficult to get hold of staff if you needed anything, notes left around saying to ask at pub next door or phone a number but we didn't have a phone signal to contact someone. This hotel could be excellent if staff were more readily available and made the place more homely.
Review 21:Views were superb, a perfect picture postcard. Room was comfortable and cosy. In a perfect location for sightseeing around the loch. Breakfast on the first morning was perfect but not of the same standard on the second morning unfortunately.
Review 22:I recently stayed over night at your property on 16th October and did speak to your dining room manager, about how seriously disappointed I was about the accommodation. She asked me to send an email with my complaints but to date I have not received any reply to my emails and have had to resort to posting this comment. I had been allocated Room 3. I will say that the room was clean, however, I appreciate that not all your rooms are over looking the loch, but to have both windows at the level of the pavement and road and overlooked by passers-by meant not only was it noisy but the blinds had to be kept closed for any privacy. There was a lot of noise as the guests moved about in the room above, not their fault but due to the lack of any sound proofing. The mattress on the bed was seriously lumpy and the bed creaked at the slightest movement. The en suite was the size of a cupboard and the strip light over the mirror did not work. Your staff are pleasant but sadly, having taken the money at check in, there is no one at the reception to check out guests and see that they have been happy with everything. For this reason, and for the lack of communication since my visit the service score is low.
Review 23:Beautiful room with view of mountain and water. Everything looked new. Great breakfast accommodating any request. Also restaurant and bar adjoins hotel for other meals. Very friendly.
Review 24:The welcome by the female manager(?) was cold. She did not seem happy to have another guest staying in her inn. She couldn't be bothered to check me in but had the bar staff member, who was unfamiliar with the process check me in. The shower head in the bathroom was like a fire hose and would shoot up to the ceiling and around the walls on its own pressure. I could only wash with one hand while keeping control of the hose with the other. I then understood why the entire bathroom was tiled, but it really needs to be changed out. I don't like fighting my bathroom fixtures.
Review 25:A modern-styled room overlooking the loch was nice. It is a short drive to Loch Lomond for cruises and walking paths. The food was very good and the chef and bartenders were friendly. The locals were entertaining in the evening.
Review 26:we had the best view we have ever had from our room,we could watch the herons and other wild life especially the Gannets diving for fish. The walks from Lake side were excellent and would suit all levels . Huge choice for breakfast and encouraged to eat as much as we like delicious .
Review 27:enjoyed everything with our overnight stay in the Lochside, staff friendly, room was spotless, breakfast was amazing and is ordered when you check in which we found an added extra to our stay, look forward to visiting again
Review 28:The room was very small but as I was only there one night it wasn't such a problem.
Review 29:A great situation right beside Loch Long, a fantastic view in the morning. A convenient place to stay to visit the highlands. The staff were friendly and helpful.
Review 30:The twin room is way to small and the bathroom even smaller. The worst of it all was the beds. They are meant for 5 year olds. They are so squeaky and noise and uncomfortable that it was impossible to get any rest. Change the beds with good ones and the room could be tolerable.
Review 31:The location is excellent. It was clean and the staff were great. It is a shame that it gets a bad review cause of one room.
Review 32:Everything from Location, View, Staff, Room 7 and breakfast was first class and would definately go back again. Thank you to all who made our stay relaxing and pleasant :-)
Review 33:Only gripe was someone knocking loudly on the door (we were right next to reception) trying to check in when the office was unattended & thinking they were in our room??? A sign on reception with contact details would fix this small issue. But that should NOT reflect poorly on this B&B. It was perfect!
Review 34:What a beautiful location with loads of photo opportunities. Had a great time, staff were great, great breakfast highly recommended.
Review 35:Being asked for payment whilst your trying to enjoy your breakfast. Left a very sour taste I'm afraid, this is after trying upon arrival and the card machine wouldn't work.
Review 36:Location was lovely, great views from room.
Review 37:Beautiful location, looking out over Loch Long, not to far a walk from other pubs and places in the village either. Wonderful room, very modern, spacious & comfortable. Breakfast was delicious, I recommend the Haggis!
Review 38:This is a very pleasant place to stay-especially if you enjoy watching the birds on the adjacent loch. Rooms are well appointed with great views over the loch and the mountains. They even supply binoculars in the room. Breakfast was good, again with views over the loch from the breakfast room
Review 39:we couldnt find anything to dislike about our stay
Review 40:the room was bright , clean and tidy. very welcoming and friendly .beautiful location,it had wi fi connection and the food was good too,
Review 41:nothing
Review 42:Clean and confortable room, with a beautiful view to the lake. Helpful and gentle staff. Good Breakfast. It is a good stop if you are traveling by car.
Review 43:Beds were very creaky and not very omfortable.
Review 44:Good location for travelling and easy to find food next door if weather inclement. rooms very clean and good range of food for breakfast.
Review 45:The view and the staff were wonderful and incredibly helpful! Our rooms were clean and Nicely decorated. Breakfast was delicious and our chef was really funny. The bathrooms are small but that's just the way it is. They were clean, renovated and stocked with what we needed. (Hair dryer was available) that is a serious treat when you are traveling through another country. I loved this place and the town is super cute. Be sure to take a walk when you're there.
Review 46:We were travelling on a motorcycle and the entrance to the car park was steep and the car park it's self was deep gravel which if not motorcycle friendly. We were offered help and they did say they would have a look at improvements.
Review 47:Location. Very helpful and friendly staff. Direct outside access to our room which was good as we were travelling on a motorcycle so we didn't have to carry all the gear through the guest house.
Review 48:Small issue was the cramped size of the bathroom area, which was slightly awkward to get in and out of but clean and with a good shower.
Review 49:Easy to find. Lovely location on the edge of Loch Long. Nicely decorated and well organised use of space in our ensuite room with a lovely view from the window. The breakfast was also of good quality and variety and the cooked breakfast was really too much for me but quite delicious. Plenty of off-street parking available. .
Review 50:I really liked the choice at breakfast. The staff made me feel really welcome and took care of all my needs after a long camping holiday. Very friendly, clean room and great bathroom.
Review 51:Walls and floors seemed very thin.... We could hear talking and televisions until early hours of the morning. But we would just choose a different room next time to rectify this.
Review 52:Staff were all keen and friendly, room had an amazing view of the loch and the mountains, it was clean and well equipped, smart TV with netflix came in handy. Nice restaurants and a little shop nearby. Breakfast was a triumph with plenty variety. I would definitely reccomend that people stay here.
Review 53:There is nothing to dislike.
Review 54:Absolutely fabulous from checking in to checking out; picking your breakfast items and time to eat, hot toast you never get in any other places; to the binoculars on your window ledge in your room.
Review 55:Thin walls, so other guests were quite audible. Likewise, we were concerned our kids might disturb others.
Review 56:Very friendly staff and very generous full Scottish breakfasts. The view was also spectacular.
Review 57:Very nice hotel, with clean, spacious well designed rooms. The breakfast was varied and tasty. Best of all the staff went out of their way to help us out.
Review 58:We really liked the location and the staff! Meg was amazing and was very generous to us. She made sure that everything will be amazing and even sent us to a great dinner near by. The view from the windows is amazing!!!!
Review 59:Wifi was very slow. No hairdryer available. Just a few possibilities to eat out.
Review 60:The cooked breakfast is really very good. The rooms are clean and nice. Located next to a lake and you can park your car there for free.
Review 61:What a fabulous place! Out of the way and quiet: just what we wanted. Rooms were large and very comfortable. Hostess directed us to a fabulous place for the evening meal. Part of the great fun, was getting to this location: only three miles from the ancient Yew Tree! What a great drive!
Review 62:We love the room and the view on the loch. The staff was really open and nice. It is a great place to ramble around the Loch Lomond :) and to go else where on the western coast
Review 63:Just a short distance from Loch Lomond on Loch Long with stunningly beautiful views from the back deck. No midges to spoil a hike up the hill behind the village. Delightful hostess made things easy.
Review 64:Nothing
Review 65:Fantastic place to stay. Breathtaking views from the room & the patio. Very tranquil & peacful place. Beautiful guesthouse, very good standards & AMAZING breakfast. Staff are very friendly & welcoming.
Review 66:The beds were a little 'springy' and the blinds did not block out alot of light. As it is light super late in the summer this was challenging with our 2 year old. We were in room 1 located right behind reception and the main entrance. It was a beautiful (2) rooms but a little loud.
Review 67:Great stay. The location couldn't be beat. There were great places to sit on the water and enjoy the view. The staff were helpful and friendly. Overall we had a great stay. Would highly recommend.
Review 68:Approach from road side and bin area strewn with litter giving a really bad first impression. Twin beds creaked on slightest movement. Our room was on the roadside and very noisey throughout the night.
Review 69:Very nice bed linen, Clean room . Cooked breakfast was very good.
Review 70:Arrived at 10pm and someone wasnt at the desk but we went next door as advised and got in fine. Minor complaint :-)
Review 71:Fantastic location. Went for a walk on the mountain opposite the B&B. I would love to stay there again for longer than one night. The breakfast too was superb.
Review 72:NO bad experiences.
Review 73:A friendly welcome in a beautiful location. Single room very small but immaculately clean and a very comfy bed. Super breakfast with lots of variety.
Review 74:All good!
Review 75:Breakfast was very good decent amount and plenty to choose from. Staff where great from start to finish, real family run feel. One night the weather was awful, we asked if there was a local taxi form which there wasn't, but one of the staff didn't hesitate to give us a lift to the local restaurant.
Review 76:As with nearly everywhere i go, single room a bit small, not a lot of room to move around in but served its purpose
Review 77:Beautifull area, friendly staff, great breakfast with a good choice
Review 78:There was terrible creaking coming from the 1st floor every time somebody moved in the room above. It was so bad that we could not sleep. This occurred on each of the three nights that we stayed which completely spoilt our stay. In my opinion the floor consisted of poorly installed chipboard.
Review 79:The view from our window overlooking the Loch. Staff were all friendly.
Review 80:The owner also runs the bar next door and the experience in the guest house was very much on your own which is fine, but we also like having a connection with the owners of our stays. Its why we didnt stay at major hotels.
Review 81:Was a beautiful property right on the loch. We didn't know there was a trail head about a mile from the room for a pretty sweet looking hike.
Review 82:The lakeview from our room was fantastic! Very nice reception and room. Loved the ambiance in de pub nextdoor, good food as well. We would love to come back.
Review 83:Slightly cramped bedroom but because of the great view it was good value for money.
Review 84:Wonderful view from room overlooking loch and from decking and patio table looking down the loch. Great spot for sundowner and evening picnic. Bubbly and helpful staff and cracking breakfast.
Review 85:the walls were thin, you could hear the people in the next rooms, also the curtains were not block out so it meant the room was quite light when you were trying to sleep.
Review 86:we had great views from our room of the loch. The pub next door had good meals.
Review 87:Kept banging my head on the light (I'm 6ft 3, but I'm just being picky!
Review 88:Really friendly welcoming staff. Beautiful location with cracking views of the loch. Clean room , nice decorations and TV and in suit. I needed only one night stay as I was on a motorcycle touring holiday. Had the single room (Rm 5) which was small but served my needs perfectly. Bar next door serves decent food and a post office and chip shop all with a few mins walk. Great decking to the rear which has stunning views and great to have a coffee / beer in. Great breakfast too.
Review 89:I could hear the person in the room next to me snoring very easily. Not recommended for a light sleeper like myself. However my husband and my friends slept fine.
Review 90:The staff was friendly, the amenities looked to be recently redone. Right on a lake - pretty views.
Review 91:Friendly and extremely helpful staff Amazing location with a scenic views just outside the guesthouse Fantastic view from the dinning room and amazing breakfast Even though the single room is not very huge it has all necessary stuff and a private bathroom which looks like it was freshly built :) In general - it's one of the best places I've stayed during all my travels
Review 92:The spectacular views from the bedroom window over the Loch make this a favourite place to stay together with the friendly staff and a very good breakfast. Good value for money.
Review 93:Noise from the kitchen as we were in room 11 downstairs. The television was in an awkward place which made watching it a little uncomfortable.
Review 94:The location was lovely, and despite the weather we hired bikes and went for an exhilarating cycle in the wind and rain! Vegetarian sausages were provided for me, as was non dairy milk to have on cereal - very considerate.
Review 95:Nothing!
Review 96:What a fabulous place to stay. Stunning location right on the shore of Loch Long with amazing views from the room. A warm welcome from the staff, spotless room, lovely breakfast. Will definitely be returning in the future.
Review 97:We travelled to Scotland for our wedding anniversary, we had never been before and we weren't disappointed. Loch side guest house was a lovely base to explore the beautiful surrounding countryside. The staff went far beyond there job description's to help us, nothing was too much trouble . Wills breakfast was wonderful, we will be back!!!
Review 98:Room is quite small so no room for dressing table. Walls are very thin so you can hear everything what's going on next door.
Review 99:Location was good. Right on the waters edge. Breakfast was excellent. Nicely decorated room. Views over the loch.
Review 100:Bedroom walls are a bit on the thin side and you can hear everything that goes on next door.
Review 101:The views of the loch from our bedroom and the exceptional breakfast. We had an early start on one day and were provided with a very generous packed lunch. It is located next door to a cosy bar / restaurant.
Review 102:Bio mass boiler failed before arrival so no hot water or heating for 24 hours. Phone calls and emails in advance of the visit were not easy to get answers to. Bill did not relate to the offer! Wifi in the rooms as well as in public areas would be appropriate for the room rate.
Review 103:Very friendly staff, dogs very welcome, food outstanding if not Scottish menus, views amazing, rooms best ever seen, wife would have liked to have taken the bathroom home with us!
Review 104:What a gem this B&B is! The location is amazing and sitting out on the decking with a pint from the attached pub at the end of a day in the sun was simply stunning! The room was immaculate with a view of the loch (all rooms have a loch view) and we really liked that they took your request for breakfast and you could specify what time you came down in the morning. The staff were all extremely helpful and pleasant and we will definitely be making a return visit!!
Review 105:We couldn't complain about anything. The room, staff, food, bar, wifi were all excellent.
Review 106:The place was very modern, bright and clean and the room faced out onto the loch. Rooms were very well furnished. The best thing about the trip, however, was the friendliness and helpfulness of all the staff, both in the Guest House and next door in the bar/restaurant. All in all, we'd love to go back and will definitely look into it soon.
Review 107:Nothing at all ..
Review 108:Location next to Pub and restaurants The view is breathtaking Very high standard of cleanness Staff very friendly and helpful Breakfast yummy even they provide a vege sausages for us which is very nice. WiFi very fast...We could rated as 5 star hotel not Guesthouse..We were lucky to stay one more night ..Thanks guys
Review 109:Loved every thing. Meg/Gordon and the morning chef went out of their way to make our stay memorable. Breakfast fantastic, views to die for, and a pub with good food next door.
Review 110:Amazing place, staff are so lovely, our room had fantastic views over the loch room 4) and the best nights sleep complete with a fabulous breakfast ... I really do recommend this place if ur stopping in Loch Lomand .. 5* for us ... We will see u soon xxx
Review 111:My shower was broken but the staff offered an exchange of room and we're very helpful and understanding.
Review 112:Great Location, spectacular views, lots of walks to do nearby. Short drive to Loch Lomond Pub next door serves food food and drink.
Review 113:location was excellent, breakfast was excellent they couldn't give you any more food, perfect for big eaters, you could have as much or as little as you want. staff were friendly.
Review 114:Nice room and bathroom, great location (on the shore of Loch Long close to The Cobbler and short drive to Loch Lomond), friendly staff and great breakfast :)
Review 115:Bed mattress was a little thin and uncomfortable. Unfortunately had noisy neighbours, could hear there voices clearly through the walls.
Review 116:Room was modern and very clean. Breakfast was cooked fresh and was tasty.
Review 117:I ask the staff to help me to change the bag of the rubbish bin but may be they forgot. The staff usually don't stay at reception so it is quiet hard to find them for help.
Review 118:1. good location: I take bus to arrochar and the hotelections is just next by the bus stop. 2. staff is absolutely friendly and lovely. they let me to ccheck in earlier and check out later. 3. breakfast is good and the view from the restaurant is very nice and beautiful
Review 119:Room was cold when we arrived in January - took several hours to warmup! Staff from guest house attended a party at Ben Arthurs Bothy nextdoor on the night of our stay and continued their party under ourbedroom until after 2am - loud talking, dogs barking and running up anddown the stairs outside our room. Despite ringing the emergencytelephone number and leaving a messages - I heard no response - verypoor way to treat your customers - we will not be back!
Review 120:Great Location Good Wi-fi Nice breakfast
Review 121:Worst nights sleep I've ever had - bed very creaky. The shower dribbled out and the water was barely warm. Could not lock the door from the inside which led to an unexpected visitor. Would avoid.
Review 122:Great location and wonderful views from the bedroom.
Review 123:There was nothing we didn't like. The only problem was we didn't stay long enough!!!
Review 124:The folks at Lochside showed typical Scottish hospitality, which was so warm and homely!!! They were VERY friendly and so helpful. The Scottish breakfast was outstanding. And the location was just perfect, literally on the banks of Loch Long. I would definitely recommened Lochside to anyone. You will not be disappointed.
Review 125:No complaints at all
Review 126:Hi there I couldn't fault the Lochside on any front it was first class from arriving to departing food in pub next door was first class and excellent value for money and room was perfect with a view to die for and breakfast was also of a high standard staff were so friendly and couldn't do enough .
