Reviews for Rowantreebank Bed and Breakfast
Review 1:Double room was small, but fine for 1-2 nights and you're likely to spend little time in there anyway as the loch and nearby villages are so easily accessible and worth a visit!
Review 2:Great host. Good location for arrochar overlooking the loch. Walking distance to local pubs
Review 3:We understand it is an old house but more attention to detail to the rooms and its amenities and review of price is needed. The bed sheets, pillows and towel looked and felt old. There was no soap in the bathroom. It was more expensive than any other B&B we stayed in where the sheets were crisp, towels felt fresh and rooms more spacious. Seriously poor value in comparison.
Review 4:Location. Breakfast as expected for the price.
Review 5:We enjoyed our stay here but couldn't have stayed longer than just a stop over (2 nights max) as the en-suite and cupboard were so tiny (nowhere to hang trousers full length). The bedside shelf was wonky so I was worried my glass of water would slip off (it didn't) but you couldn't put anything on the wonky shelf in the bathroom as everything did fall off!
Review 6:Fabulous view from our tiny double room and the road right outside did not bother us, even though we are used to no traffic noise at all. The bed was very comfortable and the breakfast unbeatable for quality and price. Everything was very well organised. Rowantreebank is lovely in it's quirkiness and we wouldn't hesitate to stay again if we needed just an overnight stop.
Review 7:Room could have been cleaner-need to hoover under the desk and bed and clean the bathroom properly! Road noise was a pity.
Review 8:Beautiful spot, friendly host. Quirky, quaint building.
Review 9:The shower was frightening. We felt that the plastic base would crack. Money needs to be spent on this place!!! The single bed in our room had springs going through the mattress. Cheap and nasty and very uncomfortable. The TV didn't work. The room needed a thorough clean, especially the bathroom
Review 10:The view was fantastic.
Review 11:We all thought the furnishing and fittings could have done with an upgrade. The parking on the night we were there was very difficult, one of the vehicles having to park almost on the road outside.
Review 12:The breakfast - our party of 4 agreed this was probably the best of our 5 stopovers.
Review 13:Combed ceilings made rooms pokey. Had to go bent over down a tunnel to get to our room. No toiletries in the bathroom. Decor was drab and very tired. General level of cleanliness not good (mildew in the shower, ancient plastic tablecloths).
Review 14:Good location, friendly hosts.
Review 15:The attitude and manner of the owners (a couple who cooked/served breakfast) was appalling - too busy tidying up to let potential viewers in (the property is "for sale") - we did not get a smile, a welcome or any pleasantries from them throughout our stay. If it was not for the fact that I had paid a deposit prior to arrival, I would have told them to shove it!!
Review 16:Location of guesthouse ideal, right at loch side. "The Bothy" pub along the road (on opposite side) is good for evening meals with friendly staff and is dog friendly too!
Review 17:Room was dirty, it's so easy to get this right, just clean the windows and get rid of the dirt and spiderwebs.
Review 18:Loved th location and the breakfast.
Review 19:It is hard to find. There should be better directions off the A82. Something like "Turn west off the A82 towards Happy Valley" in the village of Torlundy.
Review 20:The breakfasts were terrijjfic
Review 21:Bathroom was quite a distance from the room and there was quite a lot of passing traffic through the night.
Review 22:Very helpfull, friendly owners who couldn't do enough to help. The Breakfast was delicious.
Review 23:The owner Dave is very friendly and the breakfast was good. It was adequate for the one night. It's not what we are used to, but it was inexpensive.
Review 24:Room was cramped and the building is ancient. Really in need of a sprucing up but was more than adequate for a one night lay over.
Review 25:Well located for the gorgeous views. Nice Scottish breakfast.
Review 26:The room was on the attic/ceiling so it wasn't that good for tall people. Bathroom shower box is made from plastic and felt like it was going to break.
Review 27:Good host. Excellent (paid) breakfast. Cozy room.
Review 28:The bathroom was dirty and smelled of damp. The whole place needed a face lift but is up for sale. We had to phone the owner who was in the local pub for the key.
Review 29:The breakfast was good and the view over the lake was beautiful.
Review 30:The place is quite run down and the proprietors are obviously very busy with two small children at their heels. That's not such a problem in itself, but there is clearly no time to clean properly and after one night I couldn't get away fast enough. The mouldy seal in the shower was the low point. Even round the front door could do with a good tidy up. Urgent need of oil on the hinges on the bathroom door. Smoked salmon and eggs is a wonderful dish made somehow unappetising right down to inedible toast.
Review 31:The proprietor was friendly.
Review 32:The owner had a few issues in our room. The shower didn't work!! and being at the front of the building - the road noise was an issue.
Review 33:Nice location. Good breakfast. Owner refunded half our tariff due to issues.
Review 34:Doesn't rate as 'bad' but tall men have trouble in the attic bedroom and s.e.s, and the access passage is also very constrictive. Absolutely fine for shorter people. Owner said his family has outgrown their space, so he is having to put it on the market.
Review 35:Location, view, value for money, history of building, and the outstanding breakfasts!
Review 36:If you are more than five and a half feet tall or persnickety in any way, this is not the place for you. Tiny rooms are wedged into existing spaces and the result is miniature everything. It was kinda funny stooping to shave and constantly bumping your head, but that gets old as bruises and knots appear - especially for older folks. It's a good, inexpensive place, it's just not the best place to stay.
Review 37:This picturesque but definitely for-profit B&B is in an outstanding location on a beautiful finger lake which feeds Loch Lomond. The couple that runs it were invisible but seemed pleasant enough serving a hearty home cooked breakfast.
Review 38:the infrastructure was a bit worn out and it didn't match the price (quite high for the quality you get). And the breakfast is not included in the price.
Review 39:The location just next to the Loch
Review 40:The whole property would benefi from a make over.Mould around the shower tray and sink, tiles around the sink loose and toilet seat fell off and owner repaired it. Would not stay there again.
Review 41:Fantastic location and very friendly. Had a place for us to keep the bikes off road. Breakfast was excellent, best we had all week. Would def use again Thanks
Review 42:Dave was a warm and welcoming host! The room was small but comfy. Good view of the loch from the room. Close by to restaurants and shops. Breakfast was delicious as well.
Review 43:Not having my car was a bit of a hindrance but not a problem as there was some local transport and of course I could walk to places too.
Review 44:The fact that I was on my own and made to feel very welcome. The owners were excellent hosts and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was excellent and plenty of choice. My room was absolutely fine for me as a single traveller. Thank you to Dave for making my stay so welcoming.
Review 45:The Shower wasn't exactly clean, the shower head was hanging down no were to hang it.
Review 46:Pleasant host the man obviously fun the B/B himself, beds were clean. Good freshly cooked Breakfast.
Review 47:An good welcome and a good nights sleep followed by a very good breakfast. Arrived late in the dark but a wonderful snow capped mountains on waking up was the view from our window.
Review 48:Threadbare towels Flat hard pillows Rusty bathroom shelves No toiletries Food good but again no extras like fruit or yoghurt to go with cereal Poor value for money compared with other b&b's we have stayed at for same price.
Review 49:Good location in lovely little village and easy distance from Glasgow if one flies in. Proprietor pleasant.
Review 50:First, I couldn't park my car in the parking because was full. Secondly, there's no wifi (and no network 3G in that area). Then, my room was supposed to be on lake view, but I got the one on the ground floor (just next to the main door), with a view of the tracks in the front parking. And what annoyed me the most was the bed: I paid for a double bed but I had two joined single beds (with separated sheets), which is completely different!
Review 51:Breakfast
Review 52:we were in room no. 4 in the front of the cottage on the main road. Traffic noise quite bad during the day but quieter at night. Mind your head in the passage!
Review 53:The smoked salmon and scrambled eggs were to die for! The room was basic but OK for the money we paid. Dinner at Ben Arthur's Bothy was great, well recommended.
Review 54:The B&B is in an easy to find location, right by the roadside running through the village. The young family who run it were polite, unpretentious and friendly; the breakfast was well cooked too. The view of the mountains and loch were as good as we could wish for. Excellent for a short stay :)
Review 55:Towels although clean had seen better days. A chair at the breakfast table had a broken back which obviously needed repairing or replacing.
Review 56:Location ideal. Fantastic view from bedroom window. Good breakfast. Good sized clean room. Basic but good value for money.
Review 57:The whole venue was cozy and clean and we felt very much at home. Breakfast was fantastic! hot plates, large portion and everything freshly cooked. We will definately be back :)
Review 58:The stair way to our room was filthy. The room itself wasn't all clean. There was spider webs on the inside of the mouldy windows. When entering the bathroom we had to be aware of the low ceiling, same in some parts of the room
Review 59:The cooked breakfast was fabulous. The view from our window was spectacular.
Review 60:The bed was a little uncomfortable and you can hear the slightest noise from other rooms.
Review 61:I loved the location and the view from our room was amazing - excellent value for money would definitely return
Review 62:It was difficult to sleep for following reasons: 1) Madresses were very old, we feeled strings trough blanket. 2) The room was light all night without thick gardins. There were street lamps behind the window. 3) The room was very small for three adult with wet clothes. There was no place to dry wet shoes and clothes (we were hiking), and the staff didn't offer help for this.
Review 63:The house was old and sympathy, and it situated in the center of village. The room was clean and nice.
Review 64:Room a bit cramped and mattress hard.
Review 65:This was just a brief overnight stop on our travels. B&B located on main road so easy to find. Great breakfast and friendly service.
Review 66:The cold shower, but that was my fault and my daughter laughed at me.
Review 67:The location was just off the beaten track which made it cheaper and quieter than some places. The view of the loch and the mountains is fabulous.
Review 68:Room in need of modernisation. Some of the wall fixings were loose and mirror fell from wall. Beds and bedding poor quality, Small TV on top of wardrobe. View of loch obscured by coach parking on road opposite.
Review 69:Breakfast OK . Location useful for a stopover on way south.
Review 70:Traffic noise as the property is right on the surprisingly busy main road. Low ceilings & very cramped shower/toilet- my husband found this very difficult. Although he view was lovely, the windows were steamed up , spoiling this asset. It could really have done with a good clean & redecoration.
Review 71:Position- as on our way up to N.Scotland & this was roughly 1/2 way. The owner was very friendly & did her best to make us welcome. The views across the loch.
Review 72:Little bit chilly in the morning could have done with heating on in the morning.
Review 73:Loved the views of the lake. The village was perfect with all amenities needed in a tranquil setting. Owners were friendly and we felt at home. Clean and well appointed rooms.
Review 74:The coaches parked opposite in the Arrochar Car Park, started their engines up at 7am and kept them running for over 20mins before moving off. Thin walls of the room 1 we were in. Lack of choice around the area to eat/drink.
Review 75:The view over Long Loch was lovely, there was a good pub 20 mins walk away around the lock to the village inn. Breakfast was excellent. Angie was a brilliant host, and very knowledgeable of the area. The B&B was clean and about right.. could do with a bit of freshening up.
Review 76:Ceilings are very low and there are no warnings to avoid hitting one's head. Our son hit his head hard when initially going up the steps to his room. Pillows were extremely flat. No common area to sit outside the room as the breakfast tables were already set and ready for breakfast service.
Review 77:Location/view of the loch. Free parking. Price. Optional breakfast was easy to order at last minute.
Review 78:Nothing
Review 79:I was in the single room and it was perfect, fantastic stay Breakfast was amazing , and as for value for money you could never beat it.. My own private bathroom too 100% Book it you will not be disappointed
Review 80:A bit noisy from the road at night, so would recommend double glazing the windows if poss. I don't think the trucks observe the speed limit. - nothing you can do about that.
Review 81:Friendly, cosy, good breakfast.
Review 82:Old house and rooms and especially bathroom very tiny. amenities were there but room was just too small and up winding stair.
Review 83:Situation was nice by the loch, easy reach of pub etc. Good breakfast.
Review 84:The rooms, typical of a B&B, were super tiny. We came out with a few stubbed toes and banged ribs.
Review 85:The location on the loch could not be beat. Owners were wonderful. They booked us in to a terrific restaurant which was already full, but gave us a break. The breakfast (toast with eggs and salmon) was tasty.
Review 86:noise from the main road, dampness in the room walls, rusty shelf in the shower
Review 87:great breakfast, lovely view across the loch to the mountains, owner very accomodating, good position for local pubs and shop
Review 88:The continental Breakfast was not. What it was was Pre-sliced cheese, white sliced bread and what looked like sliced meat! The room was only just ok for one night.
Review 89:Very dog friendly with FAB views.
Review 90:1 No phone signal 2 No wifi 3 Towels the size of postage stamps 4 It was really hot, so could have done with a fan in the room
Review 91:1 Loved the location 2 David, the owner, was so helpful 3 The breakfast was lovely 4 Room was small, but clean and comfortable
Review 92:Needs a bit of renovation but nothing more than that.
Review 93:Clean, Friendly hosts, Location! Excellent stop on a Scotland road trip. The lake opposite the b&b has the most beautiful landscape we have seen on our road trip to Scotland. Absolutely amazing. However you have to cross the road and visit the pub to fully enjoy the scenery. Also the fish&chip shop, next to the pub, was brilliniant!
Review 94:very small bedrooms, uncomfortable bed, mould round windows that didnt shut properly. peeling wallpaper in dining room. More like a backpackers hostel.
Review 95:Good breakfast, nice walk to a hotel for food and drink.
Review 96:The building is very close to the busy road.
Review 97:The historic (but much renovated) farmhouse, now converted to a B&B; the location (Arrochor is a beautiful place), the reasonable prices and the helpful host.
Review 98:Property in need of a coat of paint and upgrading generally, but to be fair the owner was in the process of dealing with that.
Review 99:Good location and friendly welcome
Review 100:Great place to stay!! lovely views over the loch and a great warm welcome, great room.
Review 101:The host was very helpful. Well maintained accommodation at an excellent location
Review 102:Room was damp, moist dripping from ceiling, bathroom smelled moldy, mold in shower room
Review 103:Friendly staff, easy to find, reasonably good breakfast
Review 104:Small but warm and cosy room. Friendly, helpful owner. Unpretentious, but good value.
Review 105:Friendly service and breakfast was excellent value for money.
Review 106:Wee bit threadbare but clean and welcoming for the most part
Review 107:The price.
Review 108:The view of the Loch and helpfulness in finding an evening meal.
