Reviews for Parador de Cruz de Tejeda
Review 1:I think the parador could advertise better their Menu del dia. From their commercial point of view, maybe they could make more of the walking possibilities. Perhaps even have "official" guides with itineraries? Good all round for the local economy.
Review 2:Beautiful room with balcony overlooking the stunning Tejeda valley with clear views to Mouny Teide and Teneriffe. We had wonderful weather. Even in January we had 7 hours of sunshine on the balcony .... from about 11am to 6pm. If we had had more time we would have definitely treated ourselves to a spa bathe with what must be one of the best, most breathtaking views At night it was very cold outside which made the huge open log fire even more inviting and enjoyable. We enjoyed walking routes starting from the parador. Great mix of guests from different countries. No need to eat solely at the parador, there are plenty of alternative eating places in nearby villages
Review 3:wi-fi was a bit slow in the last few rooms (where we were staying). U absolutely need a car if u go there. Spa water was a bit cold actually. Spa is paid per hour - that however isn't as bad as it sounds as more than 2h there would be pointless
Review 4:superb view- for real -I don't think there are many nicer views on the island and u wake up straight into it! great staff, good restaurant, spacious and clean. minibar is affordable, small spa center. One of the best hotels I have stayed in!
Review 5:Wifi is not good
Review 6:You can appreciate the landscape from balcony and enjoy the sunshine. The dinner menu is also beyond expectations, great portion with reasonable price. Sauna is worth taking, we watched sunset in the outside spring, great feeling!
Review 7:The service at restaurant at dinner. Long wait and the food was, despite rather pricey, nothing special.
Review 8:The room, the terrace, the view! The nice gesture of putting a baby bath in the room when travelling with our 7-month old son. The silence.
Review 9:Food in restaurant was not worth paying for. For example, the salat was ice cold, because it was made beforehand and kept in a fridge. Beds were very hard and gives you pain in the back.
Review 10:Beautiful location Big rooms Excellent, but expensive, breakfast
Review 11:Food.....same menu for the whole Summer...Very boring if you stay for a week. Quality variable. Why oh why do we have to have music everywhere all the time.....really annoying when the location is so perfect!!!
Review 12:Amazing location and helpful staff; a real find in terms of a get - away hotel that sets some high standards
Review 13:The mountain roads are not for the faint hearted. Driving was challenging in the interior and getting to anywhere else by car was long and involved very windy roads often along small ridges.
Review 14:The location and access to fabulous walks were a real treat. We had a glorious view from our window and the sunsets were spectacular. Staff were really friendly and the food in the restaurant was very good. It truly is a quiet and relaxed location, very far away from it all! The spa is also a real treat.
Review 15:I booked room on highest floor and they acomodate us in ground floor ,terrace of room was not cleaned -was with cobweb.Windows are dirty and the same in the bar .In restaurant on chandelier was easy to see cobweb.
Review 16:Hotel is situated in realy nice romantic place, view from room on Roque Nublo is just amazing.
Review 17:Unslgtly glass around pool, long way up and down stairs to dining area, could easily be alleviated by using 'fire doors' if they had handles
Review 18:Amazing number of walking trails starting at the Parador, excellent good value meals especially the 'light menu'
Review 19:The air conditioning did not work. We nearly sweated to death. Option was cook or open the door to balcony and get eaten by insects. No discount or courtesy given for inconvenience. Too bad, the place was really nice otherwise.
Review 20:The staff, food, location are all excellent
Review 21:Missing only the ability to make a hot drink in the room to enjoy on the balcony first thing!
Review 22:Lovely place for walks. Very enjoyable spa experience and good food. Really recommend this parador.
Review 23:Not much to dislike - it would have been nice to have a decent bar to enjoy a drink at the end of the day - the cafe serves drinks but it's not the most appealing venue. We ate one evening meal at the restaurant which was of average quality.
Review 24:The location is fantastic with spectacular views across central Gran Canaria. The hotel is comfortable, quiet and very well maintained.
Review 25:It is remote which could be great- and why we went there- but roads quite tricky and walking not really possible in bad weather as we had in February, though weather was better lower down.
Review 26:The hotel itself was very comfortable and quite luxurious.
Review 27:WiFi coverage must be dependent on the room, it has been poor in our room (115)
Review 28:The hotel is wonderful, rooms spacious with an awesome spacious bathroom, views beautiful, hotel lobby and hallways filled with some great art paintings and drawings for a really enjoyable experience. Staff very friendly and helpful. We haven't had a chance to see the spa and all other facilities, as we were just passing through, spending a single night and arrived very late due to plane delay.
Review 29:A small issue, WiFi didn't work in our room - reported but not fixed.
Review 30:Breathtaking view from our balcony (when it wasn't foggy) Beautiful large bedroom with comfy beds & luxury polished stone bathroom, all tastefully decorated & spotlessly clean. Friendly, helpful staff. Efficient service in restaurant & good food. Indoor Spa with outside pool which seems to float over the pine forest - brilliant for relaxation after mountain walks. Quiet lounge area with huge open fireplaces. Good value for money at £418 for 2, for 3 nights half board, considering the quality & location of the hotel.
Review 31:Would have liked the facility to make tea/coffe in our room. Fire alarm went off and continued to ring for some time very early one morning. No acknowledgement or apology from management about this disturbance.
Review 32:Hotel is in a beautiful location with spectacular views. Enthusiastic and helpful staff. Enjoyed breakfasts and dinners.
Review 33:The SPA was very disappointing compared with what you expect from the website: too little, too limited from the equippment pov, FAR too expensive (22€ per person for preordered 90 minutes The restaurant could easily be made a bit cozier (a little less sovjetunion stile)
Review 34:Peaceful atmosphere Good service Good meals/breakfast at the restaurant Breath taking view and sunsets Extraordinary location, good basis for mountain hiking and biking
Review 35:Only issue was beyond anyone's control. It was rainy and cloudy all 4 days, and only once did we glimpse the wonderful view.
Review 36:The free spa entry with 4 day stay.
Review 37:Some staff in the Restaurant, Pay for a menú not suitable for dinner and The next day Pay Also for the Room Service! Any detail for our wedding compromise...
Review 38:Location and spa
Review 39:No places to sit and read outside the room before sunrise. Some good chairs were placed in the corridor close to heaters, but the lights were controlled by movement, so it was not possible to sit and read since the lights went out.
Review 40:The spa facilities and the restaurant.
Review 41:Extraordinarily beautiful. Lovely walks nearby and staff very helpful. Didn't book breakfast but got an upgrade to 12€ pp when we arrived, 5€ cheaper than booking in advance. Restaurant good. Sunset amazing. Worth it for a treat.
Review 42:The restaurant is built for masses and has no charm, very stiff atmosphere. You have to pay extra for everything, even to use the pool (25€ is also very pricey). Lots of rules and regulations.
Review 43:Rooms are big and have a nice balcony with stunning views. Plenty of choice for breakfast.
Review 44:If anything just that there is nothing really around, so don't expect much options for dinner or enterteinment besides the hotel itself
Review 45:Everything! The room, the wonderful view from the terrace, the spa, the breakfast, the beautiful location... I can't wait to go back!
Review 46:Extremely beautiful area and view from the balcony. Great location for hikers (Roque Nublo etc. is just around the corner). Small cute market nearby will let you enjoy the end of your day with the bottle of great wine and some local specialities. Above the clouds, just on your balcony... Fantastic!
Review 47:No possibilities to go outside for a dinner to a different restaurant, the hotel bar was not welcoming at all in the evenings and staff was disappearing
Review 48:Beautiful view from the balcony, nice elegant room, good breakfast, WIFI was ok even on the balcony, perfect place to relax
Review 49:Expensive restaurant and no where else in village to eat after 7pm.no tea/coffee making facilities.
Review 50:Location,view and ambiance.large oops and balcony overlooking moumtains
Review 51:Half-board and SPA offer seemed a bit overpriced, but you don't really have any other options for dinner.
Review 52:One of the best views on the island right from your balcony.
Review 53:not so much a minus, but a fact - in the evening the hotel is the only thing open round there, so you have no choice of where to eat or drink. doesn't really matter for a short stay
Review 54:position of the hotel, the views (including the view from the balcony), our room (size and comfort), access to the most beautiful hiking trails on Gran Canaria
Review 55:The basic menu didn't change in 3 nights stay. The room was too hot at night - the AC was impossible to alter.
Review 56:The helpfulness and friendliness of the staff. The quality of the food in the restaurant. The ease of hiking direct from hotel.
Review 57:The rooms could be a bit bigger (and we had a superior suite)
Review 58:Good food great breakfast fantastic views nice staff.. One should go on weekdays like we did then its not so crowded and at this hotel taking the halfboard option pays off very well cuz then you get the spa breakfast and dinner included.. Without it the stay can easily become a bit expensive...
Review 59:Title talks by it self Tue beduini for my daughter was without bedclothes or pillow 30 minutes to get it at midnight Spiders in the balcony A pity was a nice location
Review 60:Food great
Review 61:Amazing views. Excellent dinners. Nice small spa (included if you have half board)
Review 62:Wifi signal not v strong.
Review 63:The hotel itself, the spa, the view from the room. Everything!
Review 64:The peace, the quiet, the history. Though I now live in Gran Canaria, it was our first stay in this parador.
Review 65:staff
Review 66:Pool only open from 1 to 7pm and you have to pay to use despite high room prices.
Review 67:Views
Review 68:Bit outdated, not totally clean, and expensive to get into spa
Review 69:Location and view from the room was spectacular
Review 70:The Parador was completely up to expectation but the setting was stunning
Review 71:Dyrt att äta
Review 72:Hög komfort fantastisk miljö
Review 73:Loved the spacious room with nice toiletries and the terrace. On a fine day it would have been delightful to sit on the terrace and admire the view.
Review 74:Cool rooms, Warm water not hot enough for bath. No kettle, tea or coffee in room
Review 75:Beautiful place, Good food in restaurant. Attentive staff
Review 76:Staff, position of Parador, accommodation, helpfulness of staff, facilities
Review 77:The setting is spectacular, the hotel is expertly run. AND HEATED. Very important if you are visiting in winter. The views are spectacular.
Review 78:The weather!
Review 79:The Food was very good, nice Witherspoon the spaa, very relaxing holiday!
Review 80:weather unpredictable due to location in mountains but so worth the trip
Review 81:Restaurant superb. Views incredible. a memorable stay. This is a must do.
Review 82:We were very happy with the stay.
Review 83:Very nice room with a stunning view. Very good food, especially breakfast. Helpful staff.
Review 84:perfect view from the room and way to the hotel.
Review 85:Nothing.
Review 86:Eventyrlig With the hotel and staff.
Review 87:The staff was not very flexible and not so friendly.
Review 88:Good location for hiking. Nice breakfast and good food.
Review 89:Dinner was not so good
Review 90:Clean, spacious room with a great view! The surroundings are beautiful and with the car sightseeing points are nearby
Review 91:no facilities for late night food reception staff rude on arrival
Review 92:very comfortable beds beautiful views very clean
Review 93:The receptionist talks very very poor english!
Review 94:The location is stunning!
Review 95:Lack of an outdoor swimming pool; meal portion sizes were too large although food was good
Review 96:Spectacular mountain views from bedroom balcony
Review 97:I was disappointed with the dinner menu. We stayed for three days and the menu didn't change so we were limited (I rarely eat red meat and there was no chicken and only one type of fish on offer). We ordered the fish and were served four fillets each which was just a waste, as far too much. Would have preferred more vegetables. As there are no other places to eat locally in the evening I would have liked to see more choice.
Review 98:The spa was lovely - nice staff and good facilities. The breakfasts had good options and were tasty.
Review 99:No signal on TV in room. Portions of food were immense, far too much. Tuna was overcooked and the veal was tasteless. So dining in wasn't so good. Lighting was too bright. Why they didn't allow staying guests access to spa for free - never come across that before.
Review 100:Fabulous views; clear, clean air; great position to commence walking from; great breakfast. Phenomenal sunset views while having dinner. Hotel room was very tidy and very comfortable. Free car park available right outside hotel.
Review 101:Nothing
Review 102:Very peaceful hotel, beautiful rooms with mountain views from every balcony. Quiet and elegant public areas. Very good restaurant and good value. Excellent buffet breakfast
Review 103:We would have liked to visit the spa, but the opening hours are quite limited, 1pm - 8pm.
Review 104:We were lucky with the weather and had a wonderful view on the sunset and Teneriffe's Teide. Excellent food.
Review 105:Slightly expensive, not much to do when weather is bad, near by cafe/bar close early
Review 106:Quite easy to find, stunning view, great setting, beautiful spam good food & drinks, friendly & helpful staff
Review 107:Restaurant does not feel special as it should in a parador-too like a conference centre's big dining room. Sterile atmosphere. Staff very good elsewhere but not particularly welcoming in restaurant. Not good value and very limited menu for us for dietary reasons which the staff weren't very willing to modify. I think the portions were mean. The woman serving us in the cafe when we arrived was very discourteous and took a long time to serve us (although the cafe was almost empty).
Review 108:Location and room were lovely. Quiet and peaceful with lovely views. Would have been nice to have had a fire lit in the sitting room. Reception staff very nice and helpful.
Review 109:The evening meal menu was very disappointing and there was very little atmosphere in the dining room. Sadly they ran out of my preferred choice of cereal after our first day and was not being replenished for four days.
Review 110:Beautiful location with panaromic views and excellent walking. The staff were delightful.
Review 111:On arrival you are oresented with a voucher for a welcome drink. When presented we we were told it was for a soft drink or similar. We had to beg for coffee. Do not go at this time of year. Cloud base was below the hotel altitude for 4 days so it was a foggy wet and cold experience.
Review 112:More of less everything.
Review 113:Not the hotel's fault: The weather on a mountaintop is not great even in the Canary Islands in February. We had snow , rain, and high winds. And unfortunately, the trip down to other places was exhausting because of the serpentine roads which offer beautiful vistas, but we would not drive them by night or every day. The internet was free, but did not really work in the rooms.
Review 114:The hotel is very nice, we especially liked the lounge ,also because the internet worked best there. The breakfast buffet was very good. They offer also dinner which was nice. The spa was great and free with a three day stay. The views were breathtaking if the weather was clear.
Review 115:The drab restaurant and the unchanged menu at lunch and dinner troughout the week. The food servings being too large and too overdecorated while bland in taste. The necessity to climb stairs to come from the new residential wing to the lobby and then descending again to go to the restaurant.
Review 116:The very nice atmosphere the personnell created for the guests. The marvelous view from the spacious rooms and balconies. The well equipped and nicely laid out spa.
Review 117:We were not lucky with the weather, so we just was not able to enjoy those stunning views from our room, as it was to foggy. Not the fault of hotel of course. No wifi in the room. The restaurant is decent, but quite regular and boring sometimes. If you feel like a gourmet, it's possible you'll find the food here is not so pleasant. And there's not a lot of other options in the area.
Review 118:The staff is helpful and friendly, you can ask for anything and receive really quick response. I had a plenty of requests and questions prior to our arrival and everything turned out perfectly. The room is great. The interior and the whole building of the hotel is very beautiful. The spa is lovely, especially the outside pool. It was quite cold outside during our stay, but we still could swim in the pool with comfort. Location is perfect for the ones who loves hiking and long walks in the mountains.
Review 119:Dinner was relatively poor value (compared to two other comparable places stayed at on same holiday) and dining room less than "atmospheric" perhaps due to being big with few diners!
Review 120:Location, views (when weather allowed), reception staff very friendly and helpful (despite slew of paperwork Paradors seem to demand!)
Review 121:Un changing menu. The €17 menu was fantastic value, with a wonderful salad - too much food if anything. BUT please change it daily... Rotate the whole menu weekly?
Review 122:This is the third time we have stayed here on walking holidays to get away from the UK winter. It was as good as ever. Everything fabulous, including the weather (the only risk). See you again and I recommend it to many walking friends.
Review 123:it's too far from tejeda, so you can't explore the town in the evening., unless you are happy to drive at nights on canarian roads.you have to pay for the pool and it closes much too early
Review 124:food is good and portions are enormous.free wifi!.
Review 125:The staff in the restaurant is slow & unfriendly and brings sometimes the wrong food/drinks. It takes long time to receive the ordered food. Not much (variability) at the breakfast buffet. Even if you have the spa included in your room fee they want to send you away because the spa is full (early evening). Remote area, so not much choices to dine.
Review 126:Fantastic view, nice room.
Review 127:The windows inside and out were very dirty Bathroom tiles were mouldy The area was very busy at weekends with tourists The spa was additional to use the facility on top of price of room Restaurant was expensive There is a charge for drinks on the terrace We had to ask for our room to be cleaned on the second day of our stay at 3 pm!
Review 128:Views Size of room Location
Review 129:If you are looking to relax in the sun, this isnt the hotel for you - think Tyrolean spa - it is very high and consequently cold!
Review 130:Very friendly staff. Hadn't realised this Parador was at the very top of a mountain in the middle of Gran Canaria which we arrived in the middle of heavy rain (just before Christmas). When the rain cleared, it offered tremendous views across the island with Tenerife in the distance. Very much geared towards outdoors pursuits, walking, hiking, outdoor jacuzzi etc. Pleasant if not quite outstanding breakfast & half board dinner.
Review 131:Not very varied evening menu in restaurant. Big comfortable lounge area tended to be quite cold ( we did have some cool nights ) and the wood fire was rarely lit ( excuse was " we don't have much wood " ) Not a lot of guidance on walks in the mountains.
Review 132:Dream location on top of the world in the centre of the island. Room with super view ( get one on the second floor - 213 is right at the end of the corridor and very quiet ) Very attentive staff ( although the parador gives the impression of being a bit understaffed )
Review 133:- uncomfortable mattress - bathroom (tub) not clean - restaurant staff inattentive (but reception staff was very friendly) - no Wifi in the room
Review 134:- the hotel is very stylish, modern architecture - wonderful hiking area, breathtaking views, many hiking trails - good food in the restaurant (breakfast buffet as well as lunch menu) - nice rooms, with large balcony and mountain view
Review 135:The view from our window took our breath away - when it wasn't shrouded in mist, which is inevitable from time to time in this fabulous location. Very comfortable room. The spa is small but lovely. The breakfast was good, and although there was no vegetarian food actually on the dinner menu the staff were helpful in providing different options on each evening of our 4-day break. Peace and quiet.
Review 136:My only complaint is that some mattresses needed to be replaced
Review 137:Breakfast was superb. Local and traditional food. I had never been in a parador before, but it won't be the last. The staff was very attentive and sweet. The rooms ample, very clean and stylish. The terrace's views breathtaking and the spa facilities just added the extra bit to make it a place worth coming back.
Review 138:The service in the rather stark dining room was poor as they seemed to be very short-staffed. The hotel seemed a bit chilly at times in November. No kettle in room. Wine very dear.
Review 139:The location of the hotel is fantastic and in good weather the views from the room are heavenly. The food was good and beautifully presented although not cheap.
