Reviews for Antoinette Hotel Kingston
Review 1:Room door to corridor could be a better fit as large gap at bottom let light and noise in. TV to small but plenty of channels to choose from. Generally sound proofing between floors and other rooms could be better
Review 2:Bar and restaurant nice. Pleasant staff and nice location with on site parking. Very enjoyable breakfast with good food well prepared.
Review 3:Staff were extremely helpful, particularly the duty manager who went far beyond the call of duty for us,we were also very happy with the Garden Room we were given without extra charge
Review 4:Hall way was creaking the whole Time guests were walking past, ordered an ironing board, board had no padding and iron board was inprinted on a new shirt on New Year's Eve, leaving me without a shirt for the night. Not happy
Review 5:Cheap hotel for New Years, clean/nice design
Review 6:I am becoming a regular stayer at the hotel and will continue to return, its a good location, my car is always safe in the parking, food is good. Staff are friendly.
Review 7:I was in a single room. Very small. My daughter in a double room. Very small t.v.s for rooms. Shower room....and room needed updating..wood chip. I did sleep well until 3.30 when another customer was coughing and throwing up in the toilet over and over again. At 5.30 a.m. I was awoken by other guests foreign......talking loudly. You could hear other guests moving above. Floors creaked. Light in corridor outside room flickering. Lift only takes 2 people.. My daughter was awoken about 2.30 by guests running through the corridors, she was very frightened and did not sleep well. Would not stay here again and would pay a little more money for somewhere comfortable.
Review 8:Staff very friendly. Breakfast, unlimited eat as much as you like. Downstairs reception, restaurant in better condition than the room.
Review 9:Very noisy water pipes both late at night and in the morning. Shower head couldn't alter to avoid getting wet hair. Bathroom towel rail switched off with no thermostatic valve (it was a cold night) quite a lot of noise going on quite late in the evening- Hotel is really a venue function?
Review 10:room was clean and bed was comfortable. Reception staff were very pleasant
Review 11:It was a little expensive, but all hotels in London are.
Review 12:The staff was nice with us, rooms were clean and comfortable. 10 minutes walking by the center, so it is a quiet place near the town and accomodations.
Review 13:Meal at onsite restaurant meal wasn't decidedly bad - bu it sure wasn't anything special either. Quite a lot of noise when people moved or talked in corridor in in adjacent rooms - but luckily this stopped relatively early.
Review 14:Reasonably priced compared to other options in the area. Friendly and helpful staff. Inside walking distance of center of Kingston.
Review 15:Disappointing, unimaginative, fairly low grade breakfast and VERY poor coffee. A meandering conversion building with long corridors.
Review 16:Location - within walking distance of the town centre. Free car parking available. Friendly reception staff.
Review 17:I cannot sleep under a duvet, qand my request for a sheet and blanket really threw them. It took pretty much an hour to find a sheet and blanket, and when they came, they were singles for a double bed! There was no solid soap available in the hotel, and the liquid soap in the bathroom was badly positioned and locked into a cage so it could not be moved. The heating came on and off at unpredictable times. The hotel is made up of 2 separate buildings, so we had to walk through the garden to get to breakfast; luckily, it wasn't raining.
Review 18:The staff, who were friendly and helpful, particularly Simona on reception.
Review 19:My room was very basic but fair enough. Very clean. Dirty coffee mug was not washed. On day 2 the milk and tea/coffee had not been replaced. So tea/ coffee not available. For a woman travelling alone who doesn't want a big meal, the bar was not welcoming for bar meals. The lighting is too bright and it looks a bit like a station cafe. Could easy be solved.
Review 20:Excellent location: could walk to work. Good parking. Good food. Excellent staff: very pleasant and helpful. Impressive entrance. Excellent breakfast and dining room.
Review 21:We arrived back at the hotel on the Friday night at approximately 11pm. Our bathroom was literally banging as there was a wedding downstairs and I think the disco must have been directly under our bathroom!! I rang reception to ask when the music would end and was told 12pm. Ok for us but imagine if we'd had kids or wanted an early morning?!?!
Review 22:Excellent breakfast. Staff friendly, couldn't do enough for us.
Review 23:It was inviting, friendly and all staff were helpful. Breakfast, bar food were excellent. Would recommend this hotel to all my friends and relatives.all
Review 24:Turned on the shower: only 5 seconds of only cold water. Basin water slow and tepid only.
Review 25:Free onsite parking. Peaceful residential location. Welcoming atmosphere.
Review 26:Room nothing like what was advertised and was not given two rooms next to each other even though an advanced booking. Also this was terrible as I was travelling with my 84yr old Mother and had to put her in my room and they charged two rooms even though we didn't even step into the other room due to far away from each other.
Review 27:Nothing
Review 28:Nothing to report
Review 29:We came down specifically to go to Hampton Court as it's been on my wife's bucket list for years it is situated perfectly for this purpose
Review 30:Our 'superior' double room was very dated, rather dingy and the en suite was pokey and very much in need of refurbishment. I reported a faulty bathroom mirror light but it wasn't repaired in the 3 days we were there. The bed(s) were just OK.
Review 31:Excellent, good value breakfast. Good location on a quiet road and with a large car park. The room was nicely warm.
Review 32:Location was excellent, convenient for Kingston without being in town, comfortable, and friendly. I stayed in an annex opposite the function room but was not disturbed by the noise as some guests evidently had been in the main hotel building.
Review 33:If I had realised we'd be on the 3rd floor and there were no lifts I'd have requested a room with easy access as i've had a stoke and my balance and walking isn't great; but it was my fault as I didn't make a request . The cleaners were busy early and yhe cleaner woke us up. It was 8.30.
Review 34:Staff helpful and polite
Review 35:More like 1 mile from city centre than 0,6 as stated on the map. Walls/doors of cardboard thickness. Bathroom: prewar standard.
Review 36:Pretty garden; quiet neighbourhood. Kind and courteous staff. Comfortable bed.
Review 37:Although I appreciate liquid soap, I missed the free hard soaps and extras available at other hotels/b&bs. I thought £90 was a bit steep given that the bedrooms are looking a little bit dingy..
Review 38:All the staff were as helpful as they could be. The food delivered to my hotel room - also available in their restaurant - was excellent! I slept like a log until I had to get up early to work in my room. The wifi worked and I got a lot done - and the breakfast downstairs was great.
Review 39:The staff are all very friendly and helpful. We were met by Simona, on Reception, who went out of her way to ensure that all was well with our accommodation.
Review 40:Value for money exceptionally low (for the same price, you can get the Interconti and Hilton in Warsaw/Poland) Location still requires min 10min walk from next railway station
Review 41:Staff friendly and helpful
Review 42:Although the Reception, restaurant and bar areas were in good decorative order and clean unfortunately the same could not be said about the accommodation. The room we were in (a so called superior room) was clean superficially however on closer inspection the washroom needed a deep cleanse and repair work to the bath and sink areas and the same applies to the room. Also although the room and the ones either side were non smoking the hotel allowed smoking on the balconies which permeated into our accommodation!!! Making the booking of a non smoking room pointless
Review 43:Good Location, friendly staff, good food and service, With the added bonus of free car parking and easy access to local transport.
Review 44:The entire hotel is run down and slightly shabby. The "Garden Building" at the rear of the property where our room was needs bulldozing. Three floors and no lift which for me with an ankle injury made for great difficulty taking luggage up to the third floor. The corridors are too narrow for two people to pass each other comfortably and in an emergency could rise to panic. There was no ventilation in the room which meant that the window needs to be open at all times. The bed was very uncomfortable and gave my wife a sore back and we both had difficulty sleeping because of it.
Review 45:The location is extremely good for walking into Kingston for the restaurants etc. The free car park is also perfect for a multi day stay.
Review 46:The bed was not particularly comfortable. Room sloped which caused the bed to slope and uncomfortable for two people.
Review 47:Staff were very helpful. Breakfast was excellent.
Review 48:Beds were very uncomfortable, room was very noisy - you could hear everything from other rooms and when anyone ran a shower the noise of the water pump was very disturbing. Generally felt a little run-down
Review 49:Location was reasonably convenient - easy train link to central London and bus to Twickenham
Review 50:Wish the bed was a queen sized bed rather than a double.
Review 51:The staff in your restaurant was impressive, as they were attentive, friendly, and seemed to be very concerned with our enjoyment of or meal and of the hotel.
Review 52:Dirty smelly dark, horrible
Review 53:The room looked like something from a council estate, it smelt of smoke, dirty carpet, dirty mattress , it was filth , I wld never stay there again, I shdnt of even paid for it, shabby and dirty
Review 54:I booked via booking .com. I put a note at the box of special requestthat I want a room with 2 single beds. My phone number and my e mail areavailable to the hotel. I arrived to the hotel at night with my son. Theman at the reception who smells extensive alcoholic said they have onlyone room with double bed and that I booked double bed and the note I putdoesn't mean anything to them . My son has to leave the hotel andspend the night at his friends sofa who lives at North London. I had ashower and went to bed. I removed the bed cover and there was a blackhair and pink dirt in the bed. I called the reception and the heavilysmelled man came to the room to move to another room after midnight. Ispent the night worried about my son and feeling uncomfortable aboutcleanliness of the linens. I slept couple of hours and woke up at 3. Iwas waiting for breakfast which start at 8:00 am . I went to havebreakfast and the person asked me about the second person in the room. Iwas so sad again to be having my breakfast alone and I don't knowhow my son slept overnight. The receptionist did not charge me for mybreakfast because my room was dirty and she said it was my mistake thatmy son had to leave the hotel at night because I booked double room andthey don't read my notes. I said I would expect someone read myrequest and if the hotel can't supply what you need I would receivephone call before I arrive to the hotel to say they can't do whatput as special requirement .
Review 55:Breakfast was good
Review 56:Bathroom floor was not very clean. Noisy during early hours due to inconsiderate wedding/part guests.
Review 57:Room was very large and comfortable with good facilities. Breakfast was delicious and well presented - good self service facilities with no queueing.
Review 58:This is the worst hotel experience I have ever had. Booked and was told there was an upgrade to a bigger room having a sitting area etc. So I upgraded only to find out I was given a massive room with three single beds....felt like a hostel. ...rubbish. The sink wasn't working. Had water filling up in it constantly. Room felt dingy and unkept.
Review 59:Didnt like anything
Review 60:The hot water took at least 3 minutes to get hot. The heat adjustment on the shower was very hard to maintain having actually got the water hot and the flow of water was very poor.
Review 61:On site parking well equipped room and extremely comfortable beds
Review 62:Some of the accommodation is a bit tired and reminiscent of student accommodation. Walls are very thin so I could hear my neighbour's TV till very late.
Review 63:The staff were very friendly and helpful, the grounds are beautifully maintained.
Review 64:The rooms were a bit old fashioned and there was no minibar. However, I prefer this style to slick neutral hotels that look the same all around the world. There was a personal welcoming atmosphere and staff went out of their way to help.
Review 65:Staff was very helpful and the location was very quiet, unlike other hotels downtown. Walking distance to the city centre was only 10 minutes. Very good value for money.
Review 66:Bed was too small (for a double!) and extremely uncomfortable. Barely managed to sleep. Overall, I thought the hotel was OK but the rooms are quite overpriced for the Facilities that are provided. Assume the prices are based on location rather than comfort.
Review 67:Close Proximity to Wedding Venue (which is why we were staying over.) Staff very friendly and helpful.
Review 68:Bar staff were miserable and my husbands gluten free sandwich was so dry as it had no butter on it at all! I couldn't have eaten it but he did and wouldn't say anything
Review 69:Small room, expensive food, description not the same as on the website, rude staff that not help when my 2 year old was ill, further from Chessington that the website described
Review 70:Clean and lovely garden
Review 71:I did think more signs of the hotel needed, whether which way you approached the hotel.eg brown tourist signs underneath major road signs.
Review 72:The staff very welcoming and helpful.beds very comfortable. Very clean. Breakfast excellent and lots to choose from. Parking excellent.
Review 73:Very uncomfortable bed. Tired shabby furniture. Absolutely tiny tv. Wifi did not work. Shower head so close to the wall it was hard to get under the water (and I am slim and small!)
Review 74:Opening windows in room. Free parking (= reason I stayed there.
Review 75:The room was a bit worn out and didn't feel fresh/really clean. The shower didn't drain away properly. I could hear the person next door watching television and listening to music - luckily I was in and out of the room and not spending much time there.
Review 76:The location was handy for Kingston Upon Thames and a nice stroll to the Train Station away. Lots of parking, and 24 hour reception. I didn't try the breakfast, but it looked pretty good from what I saw.
Review 77:Room a little hot, however there was a fan in the room which helped. It was a v hot day when we stayed here too.
Review 78:Staff v helpful, hotel felt safe, nice decor, nice sized bathroom
Review 79:television quite small in room, only one disabled bay for a large hotel, but we did manage to get that one and only space
Review 80:lovely large room plus on the ground floor as requested . The staff especially the waiter serving us were excellent, would liked to have tried the buffet breakfast, would definitely stay again
Review 81:Hotel was clean but dated Bathroom was tiny Even for a 'LondonHotel' it was not cheap when you consider that breakfast was notincluded in the cost. A travel lodge or similar would offer similarfacilities and at a lower price
Review 82:Situated very close to Hampton court and Kingston upon Thamesriver front
Review 83:Very tired and dated hotel. Felt more like a holiday camp than a hotel. Ceiling wallpaper was peeling off in one corner of the room. We chose not to have breakfast.
Review 84:The location was good for the event we were attending nearby
Review 85:Though we were able to wrap the bath towels around our bodies after a shower we found them to be marginally bigger than a hand towel. Would have liked a dry biscuit on the coffee tray. Smokers smoke wafting up to our balcony. Cut off from main hotel.
Review 86:Very pleasant and helpful staff. Good selection at hot/cold buffet breakfast.
Review 87:Outdated buildings & slightly seedy feel Pricey for what it was
Review 88:Good breakfast (but at additional price) Good location Lots of rooms-ideal for us as a wedding party Friendly helpful staff
Review 89:I thought the price of the breakfast buffet was a bit too much for a spread which was pretty average.
Review 90:Friendly staff, a quick 7mins walk to the center of Kingston and really clean bathrooms.
Review 91:Bathromm - old, too small, toilet not working properly Reception staff hardly ever said hello/bye bye whenever I left/arrived back at the hotel. Not nice.. especially if you say so to them. Cannot rate this more than 1 to a scale of 5
Review 92:breakfast
Review 93:Internet didn't really work at all during our stay which was fairly important to us as we were travelling from Australia so no data on our phones we could use
Review 94:the staff, the location, the gardens
Review 95:Bathroom was very dated & tile grouting around bath area was discoloured & looked as if it needed a good clean. A few cobwebs & dust on walls behind the bed.
Review 96:Large room, free wifi no problems & breakfast was very good. Most of the staff were very friendly except the bar man he was really grumpy & quiet rude/ ignorant.
Review 97:Staff were friendly and helpful. We had small balcony which was nice as the weather was hot. 10 minutes walk to town and ample free secure parking. We suggested bike hire might be handy as there was plenty of cycle routes nearby.
Review 98:Quite dated. Would benefit from updating decor. Also had to request room change due to first room being shabby. Also on Saturday morning while I appreciate there was a notice in reception welcoming guests to both wedding and funeral, I didn't appreciate them collapsing breakfast tables around us without even a word well before 10am. Such that we were sitting in an empty space.
Review 99:Easy walk to Kingston. Short distance from surbiton station
Review 100:Not really a dislike, but the hotel is a little stuck in the 70's. An refurbishment would do it good! And the music was too loud at breakfast.
Review 101:Check-in went smoothly, hotel nice and clean and breakfast very good.
Review 102:Room was shabby, hot and the shower was 'weak'. The toilet cistern took ages to fill. Will not be staying there again.
Review 103:Breakfast was ok and staff were friendly.
Review 104:beds very uncomfortable ! breakfast cold ! if you want a balcony , yes nice idea but no privacy at all , all open to the next door balcony.
Review 105:grounds nicely kept , good wifi , friendly staff .
Review 106:The only complaint was that the room was very hot for sleeping.
Review 107:The location was perfect and convenient for all the places we needed to visit. Kingston was good for shopping and dining out.
Review 108:When I changed my booking through Booking.com website the previous booking did not get cancelled as it should have been. Caused needless telephone calls to Booking.com to confirm it was their error and not mine.
Review 109:Excellent breakfast. Plenty of car parking. Helpful staff.
Review 110:Chose the hotel much beacuse there was a restaurant and a garden/nice area outside. There were two weddings nor the garden or the restaurant was available. Should be a warning when you book since they have weddings as a speciality. Front desk staff neither friendly or helpful.
Review 111:The staff in the pub were nice and helpful even though the pressure was high due to the weddings.
Review 112:Room was in a block unattached from the hotel. The room was very small, although adequate. The major downsides are no Air conditioning & the bathroom, which was tiny and far from hygienic. Mould round shower, loose toilet seat & chipped sink.
Review 113:Staff were pleasant Location is ok
Review 114:How can someone design such a small space for the toilet seat. There was no hand towel in the bathroom. Bed mattress very uncomfortable. Desk in the first bedroom I stayed was quite small and hardly possible to use.
Review 115:I liked the fact that it was possible to change room for my 2nd night. Better room with cleaner carpet and shower room. However, even more absurdly small space for the toilet seat.
Review 116:Undercooked eggs whether it be at breakfast or with a bar meal like char grilled gammon steak the whites of the eggs were never fully cooked.
Review 117:Free wifi within the rooms, it was not necessary to go to bar or lobby areas to find wifi. Carvery on a Tuesday Evening was superb
Review 118:The location is awful, the room was like a oven. The shower was more of a trickle and the bathroom was very poor (broken toilet seat)
Review 119:Staff were friendly and wifi was passable.
Review 120:Could do with a bit more choice on the evening menu in the restaurant.
Review 121:Ideal location for the flower show (our 4th visit). Friendly staff and clean rooms. Has a car park. Pleasant restaurant.
Review 122:The Staff were very helpful. When I checked in I enquired about buses to the Kingston Business School and the guy on reception looked it up for me. About 10 minutes later when I was in my room a member of staff knocked on my door and gave me printed information about the bus route. This was much appreciated. All the staff were very courteous and helpful.
Review 123:Nothing.
Review 124:Friendliness of staff. Nothing was too much trouble. Meals were excellent. Despite no air con in room staff had taken trouble to supply a fan.
Review 125:Hair dryer could be more powerful. Wi fi wasn't always connecting.
Review 126:Rooms and bathrooms good size. The beautiful garden was a bonus in the hot weather.
Review 127:Had to wait for a drink and to order lunch while the barman was dealing with a delivery, never asked if it was ok .
Review 128:Staff really good , breakfast great . Put a fan in the room due to the temperature .
Review 129:Room was rather dark.
Review 130:Ideal position for getting to Hampton Court Flower Show which is why we booked it. Close to Kingston Centre with restaurants and bars etc. Breakfast very good and friendly staff.
Review 131:No air con in the room. This probably wouldn't have mattered had we not stayed on the hottest nights of the year.
Review 132:Good location, 10 mins walking distance to shopping centre, river Thames, and trains to London. Unusual to have spacious gardens and adequate parking spaces; quiet suburban location.
Review 133:What's not to like
Review 134:Very quiet area, short walk to town, train and boats. Excellent breakfast and everywhere was so clean. Bedroom was big and Lovely staff, a recommended stay
Review 135:Hotel room felt like it could do with some TLC, and was on the small side compared with others we've stayed in. This would not put me off going back though.
Review 136:Staff were very pleasant on arrival, and throughout our stay. Breakfast was excellent, plenty of choice and constantly being replenished. Free wifi was good too, not too long winded setting up like some places.
Review 137:The food was OK but nothing special. Instructions for connecting to wifi would be helpful as it wasn't clear.
Review 138:The garden was beautifully kept and they had made the best of the physical buildings they had. Lovely atmosphere and very convenient for Hampton Court and the river.
Review 139:Booked a superior room and it was outdated, small and not worth the money paid.
Review 140:the location was good, walking distance from town centre and free parking was great as Kingston can be a nightmare and expensive to park.
Review 141:Room was very hot although we were supplied with a fan. Walked into Kingston but didn't feel particularly safe walking back.
Review 142:Close to Hampton Court Flower Show. Lots of parking. Clean. Good breakfast.
