Reviews for Langley Resort Napoléon Bonaparte
Review 1:Better go elsewhere if you're not fluent in Swedish or English. Basically, an adventurous and probably disappointing place for short-term French customers. We are French but speak English well and stayed ten days, which changes the perspective. Some disastrous rooms (protest gently if you get one; it helps). Terribly amateurish young management (for the time being?) but trying hard. Some aberrant plumbing and lighting. Terrible WiFi. Incredibly bizarre Franco-Swedish cooking at dinner by a very young chef, but one may get used to it at length. Stockholm syndrome?
Review 2:Excellent location, very reasonable prices, very young and very helpful management and staff (if you speak Swedish or English), particularly Alice, Sofia and Jennifer, large swimming pool, some excellent rooms, particularly in the new building. Comfortable beds and sheets. Restaurants, shops and beach within walking range, amusing 19th century style with dungeons in towers, darkish, vampire-movie-style lobby with ancient light bulbs and candles everywhere, Customers are mostly Swedish, either aged couples or young couples with small children. In general and if you've seen John Madden's movie "The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel" ("Indian Hotel" in French) you'll understand the operation of this hotel much better.
Review 3:not enough choice for main course dinner, no one seemed to be in charge if there were any concerns needed addressing
Review 4:Room was excellent, bed the most comfortable holiday bed ever, lovely views of sea, staff were very willing and polite some more than others and most could speak to us in english.nice touch with the bathing towels just that bit extra helps
Review 5:The big disappointment was that we could not get any hot water in ourroom. We did complain and a young man came up to our room and explainedthat he was trying to repair the boiler - but with no success. We likedthe hotel so much that we had intended to stay for three nights but onnot getting any hot water we left. A big disappointment for ourselvesbut quite a loss of revenue for the hotel.
Review 6:All the Staff were excellent.
Review 7:We arrived a little earlier than the check-in time and we had to wait good 10 minutes just to be able to have someone at the reception hlping us. The girl at the reception seemed quite disappointed to let us leave the bags until we could get in the room. Then, even if we were the only people waiting for a room, they gave us our room 30 min later than the supposed check-in time. The staff is not really professional and friendly. Despite the very good impression of the building from outside, the interiors of the hotel are outdated, the common areas were not really proper and clean. Our room was really big, but the furniture is very poor, the carpet was dirty and the toilet furniture (sink and bathtub) rusty. I would rather have had a less pretentious hotel with a little more care of the details and of the guests.
Review 8:The hotel is in the town center (directly by the pedestrian area) and close to the beaches
Review 9:Worn out and in some cases broken/torn interior (room and building), towels only changed once during a whole week and pool towels had to be kept for whole week or new ones paid for. Not a good thing at a seaside/sun vacation hotel with pool where constant use of towels (after swimming and showers) is a must.
Review 10:Beautiful building, friendly, hard working and service minded (but untrained) staff, excellent food at good value. Really nice location with stunning landscapes and in the middle of a cozy little town.
Review 11:Very hard to get double bed - only twins offered - and they ignore Booking.com preferences Original building has had very little upkeep or evidence of investment in the bed/ bathrooms Over-priced for Corsica, even moreso given run down rooms
Review 12:Location in town centre means local beach and places for breakfast and meals can be walked to Pool is good size (25m?) with enough space for shade or sun Plentiful parking - you need a car to travel around Corsica
Review 13:Very poorly signposted proving difficult to find. We arrived by motorcycle.
Review 14:Staff were very welcoming and friendly. Food was nicely prepared with variety. Beautiful period premises. English speaking. Near the beach.
Review 15:There was nothing to dislike
Review 16:location & its' proximity to other things of interest. parking large suite and bathroom place of historical interest.
Review 17:some parts of the hotel are a little tired, but it still has an old world charm.
Review 18:Parking for motorcycles, superb young staff, Swedish and French - very helpful , professional and at times appropriately entertaining - especially in the cocktail bar.
Review 19:The hotel is everything except Corsica. Owned by a Scandinavian company, we only found Scandinavian staff with poor level of French. The last refurbishment must have been done just after WWII. We've never been in a place so dirty and not maintained. We had to put our mattress on the floor to have a proper sleep. There were no electrical plug to charge mobile phones. The curtain in the bathroom is not long enough to reach the bath leaving space so that the bathroom is flooded after your shower. The curtain in the room is also too small to hide from external light... The worst place we've ever been (worst than Bedouin camp in Jordan or treck shelter in Thailand)!
Review 20:The location is excellent. Big parking suitable for car, van or motorbike. Until you enter inside the hotel, everything looks amazing, the garden, the swimming pool, the tennis court....
Review 21:the hote is more' dedicated to tourism agencies and groups rather that of individuals. Staff is 'inexperienced, carpets are dirty both in the common spaces and in rooms
Review 22:the location, the garden and pool
Review 23:Our room was quite a bit shabbier and outdated than the pictures. Not a big deal but it might erk some people.
Review 24:Great location in the heart of the town and only meters to the beach. Very helpful staff able to cater for your every request. Great idea having activities organised every day for guests to choose to join. Great for families (lots of kids)
Review 25:We'll run. Polite staff. Scacandinavian-run hotel. Generously proportioned building. Good sized rooms. Clean. Superb breakfast.
Review 26:Everything - couldn't wish for more
Review 27:This once old grand place certainly could use restoring to its former glory, but for its location and price, it is a good choice.
Review 28:Excellent location. Free parking on site. Can walk to everything in town and to the beach. Very friendly and helpful staff. Excellent breakfast buffet choices. Simple, clean, comfortable room. Pool area appeared to be a popular spot. Hotel appears to cater to families and group packages for a good price.
Review 29:Breakfast not great, food did not look inviting at all, so we ate outside the hotel everynight.
Review 30:The staff were very helpful and friendly. Location ideal.
Review 31:nothing
Review 32:The hotel is very beautiful and you have many activities prposed by the hotel. The location is 1 minute far from Ile-Rousse town centre and beach.
Review 33:Room: poor decoration and old carpet Bathroom: cupborad in the bathroom? in humidity??... Corridor: talking cleaning ladies sitting together... Bed: too little pillow and poor sheet
