Reviews for Le Rempart

Review 1:The courses at Le Quartier Gourmand were creative and well executed (best during our visit to France), and the staff displayed outstanding hospitality. Highly recommend!

Review 2:The receptionist was not particularly welcoming especially after a 7 hour journey which should have taken 4 hours. A little more information about the town would have been useful . Receptionist was very keen for us to move our car immediately yet another guest car stayed in the same spot next to where we had pulled up all night.

Review 3:Excellent room with very good facilities. We had a very enjoyable meal with helpful staff.

Review 4:The garage is not big but they stuff as many cars in as possible. Another car was so close to mine I couldn't open my drivers door. Waiters in the Bistro unfriendly. Breakfast poor value at 16 Euros. Get a bun from 100 yards away!

Review 5:Location. Room. Bistro food. Having complained about the garage they did refund the 13 Euros charge.

Review 6:I have no real complaints except for the staff at dinner were a little aloof. They did seem a tad overwhelmed even though the restaurant was only about half full. We travelled in the first week of September so came to the conclusion that perhaps most of the good quality staff had taken a break after the heavy August traffic! Breakfast was good too though coffee was not filled or replaced even though we asked a couple of times. It seemed that if one had breakfast after 8.30am, you ended up with the last of everything.

Review 7:this hotel was very friendly. The room was extremely spacious too and provided a welcome stop-over after a very long drive from London. Dinner was delicious and very good value for money. We shall book again on our return journey in 3 weeks!

Review 8:Triples are not triple rooms. Just... a not very comfy put-you-up with a 2inch mattress, sheet and a thick blanket. Terrible to sleep on as it wasn't flat either. Booked the fine dining Michelin, but it wasn't open. I am pleased I didn't eat there if the bistro is anything to go by. Terrible tiny savoury rice Paella as a main on the 29.50€. menu.! Rest of the food not great either just okay. I could do better. Ate in fine dining area which was really nice though. However, the breakfast really did suck. Mediocre everything. 16€!!!!! For that you help yourself amongst the pushing and shoving, cook you own boiled eggs in a saucepan, my egg was taken by somebody else as they roll around, and the one I thought was mine, was raw. Needed a sharpie really!!! Coffee was brought to you by the staff, when you could find one, which was basically "never". Nobody asked if you needed anything. Freshly squeezed orange juice was done by yourself and took 5 mins to fill each glass. I gave up with the queue in the end. A bad bad experience.

Review 9:Hotel on arrival feel upmarket and smart. Staff are very good. Rooms are about 3* quality. The hotel bar is just to the side, and is a proper French bar, however there is a more upmarket bar in the hotel itself. AirCon worked well. Had some complaints and staff and management did whatever they could to compensate for the problems.

Review 10:The gastronomic restaurant (attached to the hotel) served up chicken which was still pink in the middle and which we declined. I certainly don't fancy starting off the holiday with a serious tummy bug!

Review 11:Easy to find; easy access, on foot, to the river.

Review 12:Excellent position easy to find, the lovely gentlemen on reception was still pleased to see us when we arrived at 2.30am after a delay with the tunnel crossing! Big room, fery comfortable.

Review 13:Only one of the two rooms was with a openable windows. The other was directly to the bistro. The air-conditioning was quite noisy.

Review 14:Nice town. Good dinner (best creme brulee since a long time)

Review 15:Bistro meal was mixed quality. My meal was foie ravioli, veal was excellent. My wife had seafood starter and fish mains and quality was poor. First time we have been disappointed.

Review 16:Location, nice rooms

Review 17:Very difficult to find the parking. No visible sign to say that it was on opposite side of road to hotel.

Review 18:Good location. Walked down to river to find a restaurant. Air con worked a treat. Room was lovely and cool.

Review 19:The rooms would need some design refreshment. The 80s retro style doesn't go together with the lovely historic building too much. A bit of imagination people!

Review 20:Standard 4 stars establishment with no bad surprises

Review 21:The room was a good size and the extra bed for our daughter was already pre-prepared on arrival, no prompting necessary. This was a godsend as we had arrived very late at the property and they were able to accommodate our request for in room dining from the fine dining restaurant. Very good food and service to match. Slept extremely well as beds were of a high quality and breakfast was good quality with both hot and cold choices available. Can recommend this hotel to couples/families/business travellers.

Review 22:The location is easy to reach for travellers (car). The town and region was a nice surprise in an area that I did not know before. The hotel is an interesting building in itself. An excellent Restaurant & Bistro makes things easier. Very friendly staff. Wifi included, fast enough, without complications.

Review 23:Good welcome. Lovely room, and bathroom, clean, pretty and very comfortable. Triple glazing kept the traffic noise out, although it would have been nicer not to be overlooking the main road. Parking was easy, despite the road. It was an easy walk into the interesting town of Tournus, with riverside walks. We ate in the Bistro, rather than the gourmet restaurant, as we were en route for Germany and didn't want a large meal, but could not resist the excellent Charolais steak and local wine. We would return happily to this hotel to stay longer and explore the area.

Review 24:Be prepared to pay plenty for the A La Carte Menu ! Looked to be a great culinary experience though.

Review 25:Great rooms and good location and easy access to Tournus with its Abbey and range of Restaurants

Review 26:Booked 2 rooms, one for us, one for the children. We were on 2nd floor, kids were on 1st floor. Not ideal.

Review 27:Easy to find off motorway. Bistro set menu was good.

Review 28:We were unable to open the shutters of the bedroom. We think it is ridiculous that you have to pay 13-15 euros for breakfast even if you only want a cup of coffee. This is quite usual at all French hotels.

Review 29:Clean, large comfortable rooms in a very old fashioned building.

Review 30:All was quite good, with the exception of very poor wireless service in the room. It was good in the lobby and so I completed my work there.

Review 31:Nothing

Review 33:Very spacious quiet rooms.

Review 34:Breakfast ok but bit over priced for offering

Review 44:The standard you hope for in a4 star hotel.

Review 45:Very comfortable hotel close to the autoroute, yet situated in a lovely medieval town. The restaurant is superb.

Review 46:The noice from something on the roof at night.

Review 47:excellent restaurant with michelin star is the best we ever had and is a raison to stay in the hotel.

Review 48:vERY EXPENSIVE AS A TOTAL COST FOR A ONE NIGHT STAY

Review 49:... lacking basic things like coffee/tea making facilities.

Review 50:Excellent attention to detail but ...

Review 51:I JUST WISH THE HEAD WAITER WOULD CHEER UP A BIT AND BE A BIT MORE HELPFUL

Review 52:COMFORTABLE PLACE FOR A HANDY STOP OFF WITH EXCELLENT FOOD.

Review 53:Nothing to dislike

Review 54:The dining experience in the restaurant

Review 55:Bistro, restaurant and proximity to Le Cave des Vigneronons de Mancey

Review 56:All the staff -but in particular the restaurant staff - were very unfriendly and unhelpful. It completely spoilt our stay.

Review 57:Tables from bar on a busy road.

Review 58:Rooms and restaurant

Review 59:Restaurant was great. Service was slow though and that was probably due to a lack of waiters

Review 60:Disappointing breakfast.

Review 61:Very friendly staff and wonderfull food in the bistro.

Review 62:Breakfast just adequate but very ordinary!

Review 63:Outstanding dinner, food and service. Friendly and efficient staff and very good location. Room spotless and comfortable.

Review 64:The quality of this small fine hotel was incredible. The staff, the food, comfort of rooms. The restraunt has fine french food, and wine selection. This hotel is rated 4 *, but we would say it is 5*.

Review 65:Tea/coffee facility in the room would be much appreciated.Parking is a little difficult. The car park over the road could benefit from being a bit more secure.Exiting the parking spaces on the road is very awkward.

Review 66:Friendly staff, spacious room, with air conditioning. The bistro was very good.Good location, close to the auto route.

Review 67:Parking outside hotel is on busy road- take care when reversing into free spaces.

Review 68:Great location in this fantastic medieval town. We upgraded to a superior room which was quiet and b spacious. Turn down service and blackout blind and v effective air con. Picturesque bistro rest offering fair value and good wine list.

Review 69:There was a problem with my booking. I don't know whether theproblem was at their end or with the site. At first they had us onlybooked as three people and they were full. It looked like wecouldn't stay. They sorted us out but it wasn't ideal.

Review 70:The staff were lovely. I had a sick child and they found paracetamol inthe middle of the night.

Review 71:Minor Points, but Car parking was charged for the next day, this was notmade clear in advance, or I would have gone elsewhere. Restaurant closedat 21:30, and only salad served afterwards. No help offered to findanother restaurant. Buffet Breakfast an additional 16eur Per Person.

Review 72:Location was useful for the Motorway. The town of Tournus was nice. Thehotel had a useful Car Park. The staff were friendly. Black out curtains/ blinds were great. Nice big bath.

Review 73:Being very picky as room was great but tea/coffee facilities wouldhave been nice.

Review 74:Restaurant is closed on a Monday, but the Bistrot was superb value andwe probably enjoyed our meal there just as much as we would have in thegourmet Restaurant.

Review 75:We had a triple room and compared to many other hotels in which we stayed around Europe, the room was a little small but otherwise no complaints.

Review 76:The position was perfect for walking to centre ville and the hotel staff were friendly. The food in Le Bistrot was very good and fairly priced. We enjoyed our stay.

Review 77:Very good service by staff. Soundproofing of traffic noises effective.location near centre

Review 78:Nothing !

Review 79:The restaurant is fantastic ! Good food and the staff is professional and very kind !

Review 80:The hotel is located just next to a busy road and would need some modernization / repair. It's clearly not up to the promises on the website.

Review 81:Secure parking would be good.

Review 82:Bistro very good.pleasant surroundings, attentive staff and good food.

Review 83:Restaurant was fully booked, no tables reserved for prebooked residents

Review 84:Location

Review 85:Weird layout of hotel. Some staff discourteous. Restaurant is classically French - over serious, over rich, over priced

Review 86:Interesting town

Review 87:cuisine too modern, too complicated.

Review 88:I stay here often, very comfortable and a very elegant resraurant; good value for money.
