Reviews for Hotel Boreal

Review 1:The location is convenient, near the train station and central, but the street where the hotel is located can fell a little sketchy at night.

Review 2:Good value for the money, specially for a solo traveler like me. Convenient location, a short walk from the bus/train station and from the Capitole area, full of restaurants, shops and bars.

Review 3:There were many prostitutes around because of the strip clubs opposite. I'm usually fairly adventurous but walking down these roads as a woman at 9pm alone did make me feel quite afraid. The hotel looked nothing like the pictures and breakfast was very expensive. I padi 5 euros for the croissant and tea option, but I was questioned and told to pay for the 9 euro option when I ventured to the other table for some milk.

Review 4:The guy downstairs was pretty friendly, especially in the morning. The room wasn't dirty and overall was quite presentable

Review 5:Low soundproofing of rooms. And, not about hotel, Toulouse EXPENSIVE parking night prices...

Review 6:24/24h staff availability. Clean, warm and close to everything that must be seen at Toulouse.

Review 7:The neighbourhood is full of prostitution. There was hair under thecovers of the beds and on the towels which made it discusting for all 3of us. The reception at evening was not so friendly.

Review 8:The room is big enough. Location close to the train station ,busand market.

Review 9:poor sound isolation, room somewhat worn, rather deserted neighbourhoud at night

Review 10:nice breakfast, location very close to main metro and train stations, a few minutes walk to the city center only

Review 11:Wifi takes time to work - about 30 minutes. The immediate area is a little derelict

Review 12:Quiet, central location. Vicinity of metro and Shuttle bus to airport. Vicinity to centre (walking distance). Gentleness of the staff. Cleanliness.

Review 13:The location is perfect if you travel to/from the trainstation. Its in an area where you find food stores in case you dont want to eat at restaurants. Also, the shopping area is only a 10 min away. Free wifi was great!

Review 14:We did not realize that the neighborhood was so rough with prostitutes and druggies which made us very uncomfortable. We checked in and checked out again after we saw the small room and checked out the neighborhood. However, the young women in reception were charming and very helpful.

Review 15:Sex workers and their johns were yelling at one another all night in the street below, making it hard to sleep. Room was pretty bare-bones and smelled rather musty. Only a single outlet in the entire room; I had to unplug a lamp to use it.

Review 16:Location is good—close to the train/bus station and an easy walk to most of Toulouse—except gets a bit seedy at night. Wifi was alright (ask at reception for code). No-frills room is fine if you just need a place to crash.

Review 17:Wifi worked well but you can only connect one device per person since you can only login with a code once.

Review 18:Located near the train station. I didn't think the neighbourhood was dangerous, as some have said, even as a solo female traveller. Very near supermarkets as well. Staff were helpful and the room was very nice, modern and clean. Air conditioner worked well.

Review 19:For the first of the 2 stays (2 nights) our room was so cramped it should never have had a double bed in it. The space was only suitable for a single bed. No bedside table(s) or bedside lights. On the second stay (1 night) 6 days later the room allocated was much better.

Review 20:The convenient location for the Airport Shuttle Bus

Review 21:The rooms smell of smoke whether they are supposed to be non-smoking o not, overlaid with a strong smell of vinegar which they obviously use to clean the hotel with. Very small room with furniture oddly placed, no kettle and tea making facilities which is a shame.

Review 22:Location - this hotel is very central and relatively easy to find but if you are driving don't go directly to the hotel but to the huge underground carpark called Jean Jaures and park there, its very central and the Hotel Boreal stamp your ticket so you get a discount. Tiny balcony but at least you can look out a little. Full bath and lots of hot water.

Review 23:- Some inventory old and bad looking (rusty heater in bath room, flaked off wooden toilet seat) - The toilet flushing from neighboring rooms sounds quite loudly and quite creepy (you think that maybe the pipe is going to explode), but it is possible to get used to it

Review 24:- Very silent room (window of the room oriented into the inner block) - Good sound insulation to other rooms (except the toilet flushing) - Bath tube instead of shower

Review 25:Thin walls in room - could hear people next door, but they quieted down - although convenient to train station, neighborhood is typical around city train/bus stations, including "ladies of the night" - in general, seems "scary" at night, but had no trouble - single women tourists might not be comfortable walking around after dark - choice of restaurants nearby are fast food and some look questionable - better to walk closer to the center for better choices of food - 2 buildings away from not very exciting Place de Belfort

Review 26:Good value for the money - staff was nice - room was clean - wifi with password worked - bed was comfortable - air conditioner was strong - good selection of television channels, including English on a British channel and an American channel - convenient 5-10 minute walk depending on speed from/to Gare SNCF Toulouse-Matabiau Train Station - 10-15 minute walk (depending on speed) to center, including Place du Capitole - did not have breakfast, so can't comment on it

Review 27:- The area isn't nice and it can be dangerous at night (this isn't the hotel's fault but you should be aware of that) - Tiny elevator (it barely fits one person and one suitcase) but at least there is an elevator (many other hotels don't even have one) - Old-fashioned decor in the room

Review 28:- Free wifi, relatively fast and easy to connect to it (username and password given by the receptionist) - Near Toulouse Matabiau train station (5 mins on foot) - Near supermarkets - The price was lower than in other nearby hotels (41 euros per night for a single room)

Review 29:The shower was broken off the wall but worked OK. It was a bit tatty in need of decoration

Review 30:The hotel is close to town centre. Staff pleasant and helpful.

Review 31:None.

Review 32:The location of the hotel is great, within walking distance from the train station. The room is quiet with good wifi. Bath and toilet in my room are separate. The hotel has a lift, which is a big plus. There is supermarche nearby.

Review 33:The room window was facing the iron ladder outside, nothing to see. we still can here people upstare or next room opening and closing the door.

Review 34:the room was really clean and the air conditioner working very well specially because outside was pretty hot. I like the location. it's in the centre of toulouse and i can walk around city centre, toulouse matabiau station, and other sight seeing in the city without transportation.

Review 35:the breakfast cost €9 which was far too expensive for what it was. The usual that one would find in other places with nothing special. The hotel was in the middle of the 'red light' district and whenever i left, no matter what direction i went in, i was confronted with prostitutes or vagrants.

Review 36:the room was clean, and comfortable.

Review 37:Room very small, we stayed on 2 occasions during our 2 week holiday, the second room was very very small, a bit too tight really.

Review 38:Clean room.Good breakfast.Very helpful staff, particularly the owner/manager.

Review 39:Nothing comes to mind

Review 40:The staff were friendly and the room was clean and comfortable and the hotel was convenient to the city centre

Review 41:No problems to report.

Review 42:Easy walk from Matabiau station. Desk staff speak good English. Breakfast price reasonable.

Review 43:The hotel was not far from the canal, very convenient for cycle tourers

Review 44:Friendliness of staff

Review 45:Location is good in distance but not in terms of the neighbourhood

Review 46:Staff really helpfull

Review 47:Location

Review 48:The nearest neighbourhood is not very attractive but OK and safe.

Review 49:Very kind and English speaking reception, nice and calm hotel near the centre.

Review 50:the buildings in the street are a bit old. but it is quiet.

Review 51:the location is superb. hotel lies exactly between train station and the city centre.

Review 52:There was a strong smell in the room that's the only things that botherd us but other than than that, it was good enough.

Review 53:Good location, Wi-Fi, helpful staff

Review 54:Not the nicest neighborhood though

Review 55:Good spot, cheap and good wifi.

Review 56:room was close to elevator so a bit noisy

Review 57:friendly staff, bath tub is a plus

Review 58:couldnt find the building easily

Review 59:clean room quiet, good breakfast

Review 60:Dubious establishments nearby.

Review 61:Close to airport bus stop.

Review 62:All of the staff didn't speak English.

Review 63:Good location. Nice staff. Nice rooms

Review 64:Very Nice. Stayed there two years in a row. Can drivers are not very familiar with how to get there.

Review 65:My room had everything necessary for my stay. The air conditioning was excellent.

Review 66:Close to the station. Open for late check in. Good wifi.

Review 67:room furnishings very average including bedding

Review 68:close to station

Review 69:Very simple rooms, breakfast simple too

Review 70:Walls thin as could hear lost of noise from other rooms. Shower needs a bracket to hang the hose on at jead height

Review 71:Near to railway station. Air Conditioning was good on what had been a hot day

Review 72:It is a bit hard to bring suitcases with a small elevator.

Review 73:Location is perfect as it is near Gare Matabiau. Also, there are many supermarkets and restaurants nearby.

Review 74:Everything with the hotel was awesome but I wasn't the biggest fan of the city itself.

Review 75:The location was perfect. Close to the train station and to the center.

Review 76:For what one received, the charge for breakfast was too expensive.

Review 77:The friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. The beds were comfortable and the room was clean. The hotel was quiet.

Review 78:in the street the hotel is located there are some sex nightclubs. the room is so small but the lit is pretty comfortable.

Review 79:i liked the location, near the train station.

Review 80:Sound of air-conditioning was a little large. This hotel was just in front of a strip club.

Review 81:Staffs were very kind and helpful, speaking perfect English. Inside of the hotel was renovated well enough for a 2 star hotel.

Review 82:The location let me feel pretty dangerous.

Review 83:The room was very nice with a nice bathroom, Wifi is fast. The location close the train station and bus station.

Review 84:Main heater in our room was broken but luckily the night shift staff managed to bring us mobile heater to warm the room.

Review 85:Location is the best thing I like. There are some good staff both day and night shifts who are ready to assist you. However, the staff at night shift may look scary but in fact he is very helpful.

Review 86:The rooms were mostly sound proof, I couldn't hear anyone in the neighboring rooms even though I know that the hotel was fully occupied. However, noise in the hallway easily entered the room.

Review 87:The location was excellent. I had to look hard for the brothel, previously mentioned by others. I found it discrete and unoffensive. I was unable to spot any prostitutes. The staff were excellent, the room was spacious, the wifi worked well.

Review 88:Breakfast very disappointing - will go to one of the many local patisserie shops next time.

Review 89:Really friendly & helpful staff - will definitely stay there again!

Review 90:See what they don't tell you is... It's bang in the middle of the red light district. Did not feel safe. Did not leave the hotel due to this. The staff couldn't wait to get us out of there. I actually found myself knowing the way to the train station by which prostitutes were standing on which corners! If your staying for one night it's ok but for heavens sake don't bring a family here!

Review 91:How close it was to the train station

Review 92:It's more feature rather than drawback: there is balcony to escape fire. Potentially anyone can go to your room via it if window is opened. No english tv channels found. Looks like walls are quite tiny so you can hear neighbors talking. Not big deal though.

Review 93:Great location, calm place.

Review 94:The staff were for the most part very unhelpful. They had no mapsavailable and could not/ would not tell me where anything was. There was no where to hang the shower rose so you could only have abath. My room was next to the lift so I could hear it going up and downat all hours of the night as well as someone in the room next doorcoughing a lot...

Review 95:The room was comfortable and a good size. The location was very centraland close to a metro station. The wifi in the room was good too.

Review 96:Location of hotel a little seedy. No on site parking. Arangementwith public parking more than a block away at 10€/night between18h and 9 H.

Review 97:Free wifi in room worked well. Room was good size, not cramped.

Review 98:The room was definitely not soundproof. A lot of noise...voices, runningwater, slamming doors!! The lighting was very poor (couldn't read inbed) and there was no lamp on the table to do any work. The basin wascracked. The shower had black fungus and the grouting was coming awayaround the shower base.

Review 99:The price was ok. It was easy to find from the station.

Review 100:Great Hotel with low price. The staff is so nice. He gave us a lot of advise for where to go in Toulouse. The location is great. But a little bit hard to find.

Review 101:No tea/coffee making facilities in the room. Difficult to find the light switches on the stairs.

Review 102:Very well postioned between the main train station and both metro stations. A 24 hour reception that was helpful. Very good value for money.

Review 103:Whilst the hotel is modern & welll presented the immediate locality is somewhat seedy

Review 104:Good hotel, friendly staff good value for money. Handy for rail station, airport bus and City centre

Review 105:Defiantly not soundproof, I could hear the neighbor snoring, the chimefrom the front door when someone comes in, the calls the receptionistgets. Further, very small room, small bed, broken bed front, brokenshower, very slow wifi (19KB/sec on average), lap dance club in thefront of the hotel.. Crap all over.

Review 106:Nothing actually

Review 107:Wifi connection only worked for 1 night of 4. I needed to send some emails urgently so i was in a hurry. The elevator and some parts of the hotel smell funny. The neighborhood is quite noisy and there's even some kind of brothel in front of the hotel that is always loud. Nevertheless, it's very close from downtown.

Review 108:The staff was very helpful and kind. The bathroom was ok as well as the bed. There was cable tv.

Review 109:it is close to the train station (you can actually walk 5 min), and it is only a 15 min walk to downtown. The staff was amazingly friendly and helpful. It was worth it.

Review 110:The location was in a undesirable area.

Review 111:comfertable clean rooms.good breakfast.Receptionist spoke good english. We were kindly allowed to leave our bike bags at the hotel, whilst we cycled the Canal du Midi.

Review 112:Parking was not easy, but to be honest, that is a problem that plagues the whole of Toulouse centre.

Review 113:Very close to the centre of Toulouse. Comfortable and clean room with full size bath. Always plenty of hot water on tap. 24-hour lobby staff for added security. This hotel, like many others is in the red light district, but that is just part of the colour of Toulouse City, I never felt threatened, even after dark. There are loads of coffee shops, bars and good priced restaurants within easy walking of the hotel. There are also masses of high quality shops.

Review 114:The number of drunks, beggars and dog mess in the area. However they did not give us any hassle.

Review 115:It was close to the TGV Station Toulouse Matabiau, and an easy walk to the city centre and cathedral. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. Plenty of places to eat around the area up to 2 am, so the hotel did not need to supply meals other then breakfast.

Review 116:Easy access coming from the airport (shuttle stops at the train stationnearby). Also easy access the next day when I had to leave town bytrain. Room was simple but very fonctional. Front desk staff iscompetent and eager to please. I already booked a room for my return toToulouse in May.

Review 117:Tardy wi-fi. Connection failed usually, when I tried to use videoconnection by skype.

Review 118:It's quite tidy and pleasant. It has good balance of price andfacilities.

Review 119:The noise level from other rooms was unacceptable. The sound -proofing is not effective. Breakfast was very good on weekdays , enough of everything and a wide selection catering for all tastes, however this was not the case at the weekend. Not enough bread, sliced meat not put out very slow service.

Review 120:Many of the staff were very helpful and went out of their way to be really kind.

Review 121:Walls are paper thin. The bed was TERRIBLE!!!! Air con does not work. Towels stink of vinegar. Couldn't wait to get out of here.

Review 122:The wifi works

Review 123:needs more cleanliness, and rooms are too close, noise can be heard from other rooms

Review 124:Friendly staff. value for money

Review 125:I have to say, really old property, very noisy in the weekend. no place to parking cuz in the downtown and underground parking would be costy.

Review 126:DIFFICULT TO FIND

Review 127:LOCATION

Review 128:breakfast very poor.

Review 129:central to where we wanted to be, rooms were clean and warm, very basic hotel, rooms were tiny and bathroom needs updating

Review 130:The district IS a bit seedy.

Review 131:Location close to train and airport conections and downtown attractions. Clean, cheap, no-nonsense. Wifi worked fine.

Review 132:No cleaning service was provided during my stay. Awful smell of smoke inside the room.

Review 133:Clean, quiet hotel five minutes walk from the railway station and the same from the city centre. Friendly, helpful staff.
