Reviews for Hôtel De Greuze
Review 1:Arrived by train , so could not be more convenient. Our room was spacious and the bed incredibly comfortable. The staff were helpful, friendly & spoke excellent English. There was secure accommodation for our bikes.
Review 2:First person whom we met was clearly unhappy taking us to our rooms (also was not familiar with that aspect) but warmed up more during our stay. Rest of staff was fabulous!!
Review 3:A wonderful, little hotel right in the middle of town. Next to everything. Breakfast was excellent and brought to you with a smile. Next door to an outstanding restaurant so commute back is easy.
Review 4:Nothing
Review 5:Great and helpful welcome and really friendly and attentive service at all times. Lovely ambience in hotel and in the town. It's a lovely old building but rooms are very modern and well equipped. What a gem of a place
Review 6:The hotel is too full of itself. The staff are prissy. The breakfast is not the ordinary buffet usual nowadays but neither has it a written menu., This means that one gets a gabbled verbal description from a rushed member of staff so that one ends up with a measly breakfast for an extortionate sum.
Review 7:We always stay here for as comfortable and peaceful night's sleep
Review 8:The location of the hotel immediately adjacent to the Abbey is superb. The town is a gentle stroll through the rear of the hotel with plenty of restaurants and coffee shops. The river is just around a five minute walk. The hotel staff are very friendly are do their best to make the stay as pleasant as possible. Second time of staying and not disappointed in the least. Will certainly return
Review 9:The WiFi was not consistent - our room had 2 single beds pushed together - we were charged 4 euro for an expresso - I feel @ over 500 dollars Australian per night that was just silly. Lots of tables and chairs everywhere outside for entertaining yet never asked if we wanted a drink - a lift offered if you wanted to take the stairs you had to in darkness or attempt to find the light - we were never told about how to operate the tv - when we did - they didn't know -
Review 10:The welcoming made us feel like we were in for a treat -
Review 11:The staff are brilliant. Sitting in the courtyard with a cold drink and nibbles. We stage thru here at least once a year. The restaurant next door, not part of the hotel, is worth more than a visit. Superb Michelin starred cuisine. Charming helpful staff who speak excellent English.
Review 12:Limited dining options available in the town when we were there (early April).
Review 13:Helpful staff. Good quality, recently renovated rooms, appealing building in a great location for those travelling through France. Very happy to accommodate our dog.
Review 14:Only criticism is that breakfast does not include fresh fruit or yoghurt unless you pay a supplement.
Review 15:A well positioned hotel which radiates warmth and comfort on a cold winter's night. Helpful staff who recommended good places to eat.
Review 16:NA.
Review 17:We were made to feel very welcome. The room was very comfortable and well laid out. Breakfast was excellent. Would not hesitate to recommend the hotel.
Review 18:Bathroom without shower, only bathtub and a shower you have to hold in your hand! Rediculous for a 4 star expensive hotel Breakfast quite expensive for what you get. No buffet
Review 19:Location friendly staff clean
Review 20:breakfast (included in the price of Euro 150 per night) was very basic. Any extras like eggs, cereals, yoghurt had to be paid on top.
Review 21:good style and atmosphere
Review 22:Confusing restaurant info. The restaurant is not really part of the hotel and is open for limited times, and is very expensive. We went to the Bistro opposite (nice, but also quite costly). We thought the hotel was a bit expensive for what it was, although we had a comfortable night after a very long drive, with another one the next day.
Review 23:A very well thought out hotel, with everything provided and charming, helpful staff. Easy to find and parking good. Very quiet. The best breakfast we had on our travels. Despite the abbey being behind it, we were not troubled by the bells. Close to a Carrefour for our necessary French foodstuffs stock up!
Review 24:Could use more light in the room for reading.
Review 25:Excellent location just off the A7 with secure hotel parking. Friendly, helpful staff. Good sized room overlooking Abbey.
Review 26:Not much room to leave your suitcases in the room .
Review 27:Excellent location .Good quality 5 star feel with the service and staff.Breakfast served to you at the table not buffet rip-off .Cooked items at a charge.bathroom excellent size and facilities .
Review 28:This was a great place to stay on our way south - we also booked in for the return journey and were just as impressed second time around. Would definitely stay at Hotel De Greuze again.
Review 29:Absolutely nothing. Going again next week!
Review 30:The staff couldn't have been more helpful. Breakfast was excellent. Try the restaurant attached but not part of the hotel. Brilliant.
Review 31:Nothing could really be faulted. Breakfast is A La Carte so we calculated it would have cost around Euro 50 for 2 adults and a young child for a decent breakfast. We went to a cafe down the road!
Review 32:Beautiful hotel with lovely furnishings and immaculately clean. Staff were very polite and helpful (and all spoke excellent English.) A great place to relax and unwind so loved it. Thanks to all at De Greuze for looking after us so well.
Review 33:As soon as we arrived the concierge took our bags. We were shattered after a day's travelling. Nothing was too much trouble. The staff were warm and helpful. We'd left London and schlepped through France and arrived at a Tournus. Arriving here we met France and the Saone. We ate well and slept well. We woke in the morning to the sound of church bells and ate croissants outside in the courtyard. My kids said that they'd gone to bed thinking of London but when they woke up they were now in France. Thank you so much
Review 34:Nothing.
Review 35:I had a very comfortable room overlooking the front door if the Abbey, with a pleasant sitting area, very comfortable bed and excellent bathroom. the staff were very professional and helpful.
Review 36:Very helpful concierge booked us a table at brasserie beside the river. Room overlooking car park very quiet and comfortable. Breakfast perfect. A lovely hotel and most welcoming staff. Thank you.
Review 37:Breakfast expensive. Hotel restaurant expensive (Michelin starred - this could be a plus for some travellers) and not open every night..

Review 75:It is a great stopover on the road down south. A lovely and friendly hotel with an excellent restaurant round the corner, good and secure car parking facility, and a wonderful town with a magnificent abbey.
Review 76:I have been going to the greuze for over 25 years. It has become a great disappointment. Bus loads of people, tired decor and staff and very overpriced.
Review 77:Location
Review 78:The shower was a bit of a trickle
Review 79:Very friendly staff. You get a beautiful box of chocolates and, best of all, Wifi is constant and does not need a password.
Review 80:Not much. The breakfast could be better, with maybe some fried eggs or scrambled eggs.
Review 81:Very nice hotel in the centre of Tournus. The building is great and the rooms are spacious with a great shower!
Review 82:Very overrated, rooms so-so, way too expensive, very poor value formoney
Review 83:Close to expressway, 2 km to exit, halfway to Cote D'Azur, convenient secure parking, located in small quaint village
Review 84:Probably the best hotel in Tournus. Friendly staff, clean andcomfortable room with a superb modern bathroom, central location, caringowner. Paid 158 euros for one night's stay which is competitive withother hotels of equal comfort that we have stayed in on this recent tripin Burgundy.
Review 85:The location is a little bit noisy, close to the main road and the train. Even in the night the trains were active.
Review 86:Very friendly staff and lovely breakfast outside. The staff was helpfull to advise in potential restaurants, Le Bourgogne was a great positive experience and Tournus is worth visiting.
Review 87:Nothing , it was entirely as expected having read previous visitor tripadvisor / booking.com comments .
Review 88:Friendly welcome . can't comment on food or any services as wedidn't use them , just the room and bathroom . ate out and skippedbreakfast . it was a stop over on a drive south and worked perfectlywell . very clean room , ditto bathroom which was surprisingly spacious. dog friendly .
Review 89:The staff took care of our luggage both on arrival and on departure - the first time we have experienced this in a journey staying at four different hotels! We were upgraded to a superior room without charge as the hotel was not full. We recommend the Rempart Brasserie for an excellent meal at a reasonable price - it is three minutes' walk from the hotel, which does not have its own restaurant. A very comfortable and enjoyable stay.
Review 90:Breakfast is a little too expensive at 16 Euros and therefore I did nottake this in the hotel. The adjacent Greuze restaurant (1 Michelin) staris very expensive and I dined instead at Aux Terrasses (also 1 Michelinstar)a short walk away which was superb both in quality and value formoney (about half that of Greuze).
Review 91:Very convenient for the autoroute. The hotel is a little oasis of peaceand tranquility. Whether you have a room overlooking the front or rear, the outlook is charming. Staff were so friendly and helpful.

Review 94:There was nothing to complain of.
Review 95:The hotel is friendly and very attractive in all its features. I particularly enjoyed the breakfast, the comfortable bed, the huge, well-equipped bathroom and the setting close to the old abbey. The staff were very charming and made me feel immediately welcome. My little lion dog enjoyed it too. No fuss or formality; just a lovely place with excellent service.
