Reviews for Aux Ducs de Savoie

Review 1:Needs a bus shuttle from hotel to ski lifts above the hotel (3-4 mins drive). Not practical to walk... although when snow conditions allow, there is a teleski about 150 metres away that gets into the ski area.

Review 2:Sauna and indoor hot tub were excellent. Bar was friendly and comfortable. Lovely clean rooms and fantastic views of Mount Blanc from the balcony. Easy parking. Easy walking distance town to Combloux shops, restaurants, bars, ski-hire etc.

Review 3:Everything, the hotel was gorgeous, the food was incredible and good value, the rooms were clean and comfortable, the wifi worked very well and the jacuzzi and sauna were a lovely touch but the BEST part would be the staff, very helpful, very kind and couldn't do enough for you, very very accommodating!

Review 4:The wifi was erratic. Also there was no attachment high on the wall to enable you to have a shower without having to hold the shower head in your hand.

Review 5:The friendliness of the staff and the beautifully comfortable and welcoming decor of the sitting room which was a very special place to relax after a day's skiing.

Review 6:No draught beer or house wine!

Review 7:staff, food, size of rooms, cleanliness, location. Village of Combloux near enough for other food options and ski lift just down the road

Review 8:internet was not working in the room, only in the lobby. Hairdryer works only for 1 minute and then you have to wait 5 minutes to use it once again.

Review 9:excellent restaurant!

Review 10:The staff could not have been nicer or more helpful.

Review 11:Hairs on the bathroom floor

Review 12:Loved the quiet location

Review 13:Excellent breakfast buffet and fabulous selection of desserts at dinner.

Review 14:There is a drag lift only 5 minutes walk, however this is not a great way to get to Combloux ski area, because at the top of this drag, one has to drop down to yet another drag lift where there was a huge queue of people. There was not enough bars & restaurants up the slopes so we felt that there was a degree of profiteering. We got caught for €22 each cover charge for lunch one day without seeing any indication on the menu. Whilst Combloux seemed to be a very busy town we could only see four restaurants /bars which were fully booked each night consequently we had to dine in the hotel. Certain elements of the hotel seemed overpriced and not befitting a 4 star hotel. The beds, in my opinion were too hard, still had the old traditional sheets and blankets rather than a quilt, and a rock hard bolster rather than normal pillows. Equally we were struggling to understand €17 for continental breakfast. The biggest problem we found with this hotel was in the restaurant, an old lady who must have been the maitre'd. She seemed to spend the whole evening either snarling at the staff or the guests. Initially we thought we had been singled out by her strange attitude but during the course of the week we realised she was treating everybody the same. The food was arranged buffet style for €38 each for dinner. It looked like you could eat yourself to death, we saw one person eat 5 desserts. We are not fans of buffet food, so chose the a la carte which was superb. Our choice seemed to make us the exception as everyone else appeared to be having the buffet which may have antagonised the maitre'd further. She became quite animate when only one of us chose the fromage. Our bill, at the end of our stay, had a number of anomalies which seemed to relate to the same issue, although the lady on reception was very happy to refund all of the errors.

Review 15:The hotel is beautiful and finished to a very high standard. The a la carte menu is high quality, with 1 or 2 very friendly staff. Luckily we had our car with us so we decided not to ski Combloux and instead drive the 11 miles to Les Contamines which was fantastic! The hotel is stunning and we would go back, although I'm sure we would not be welcome by the old lady. It's an ideal location to explore the various Mont Blanc ski resorts.

Review 16:The sauna area is a bit dated and could use a small upgrading.

Review 17:Beautifully located hotel with stunning views over the Alps including the Mont Blanc. Nicely decorated in wooden chalet style. Very friendly staff. Lovely food.

Review 18:Dinner and breakfast are quite expensive. It would have been nice to have coffee/tea facilities (water cooker) in the room.

Review 19:Excellent hospitality - the staff really makes you feel at home. Charming hotel in traditional Savoyard style with spectacular views of the alps.

Review 20:Breakfast was a very good continental but at 17 euros p.p. was over-priced - as were the Bar prices and prices for wine in the Dining Room.

Review 21:Excellent location for Combloux ski slopes and the wider area. Fabulous views from bedrooms on front side of the hotel. Staff all extremely friendly and helpful.

Review 22:Bad Wi-Fi in the room. Breakfast expensive for what was proposed.

Review 23:The view of Mont Blanc from the room. Great location near Megève, Genève, Chamonix, Annecy and near Italy border. Very friendly and warming place.

Review 24:lack of English translation of menus,etc...

Review 25:chic,high standard, cleanliness, excellent food, snacks with drinks at the bar,two lovely dogs at the reception, very helpfull and welcoming staff

Review 26:Breakfast was expensive. Having price range options would be useful.
