Reviews for Hôtel-Restaurant les Planchettes
Review 1:This is a great historic landmark. The staff are very nice. I am sorry to have told positive things about Hotel Les Commercants in Clermont-Ferrand. I confused my positive experiences in Saint-Flour with my disappointment in that hotel in Clermont. The Commercants is paranoic about security. It is not really clean. And fortunately I am in good shape to climb the steep stairs to the 3rd floor. And it is unforgivable that I had to pick up my luggage by 12 as the receptionist probably had some private things to do. The value for money is quite wrong in this hotel.
Review 2:Staff were not very welcoming or helpful.
Review 3:Huge, comfortable room in an old, historic building (I think it may originally been a monastery). Nice view.
Review 4:Restaurant was closed during our stay even though it should have been open according to opening days/hours. It wasn't far to town centre to get a meal but as we arrived late it was an inconvenience we could have done without.
Review 5:Hotel is in a beautiful location in St Flour within easy walking distance of the town centre. The rooms are clean but very basic & breakfast was basic but adequate. The views from the hotel are superb.
Review 6:On arrival the hotel looks a little like Colditz and the institutional feeling continues throughout the long corridors and basic rooms. No frills here and the bathroom cubicle in the corner of the room was tiny. However, the room was clean, the bed comfortable and there were lovely views from the window. The highlight was the meal in the restaurant which was excellent value for money - as was the house wine. The salad starter was the best ever. We would go back.
Review 7:Couldn't fasten shutters which banged in the night due to a storm, but needed the window open for ventilation.
Review 8:Very clean, well organised and good food. Good value.
Review 9:Nothing
Review 10:A great place to stay, not only when passing through. Certainly very good value for money, and make sure to have dinner in the hotel. The private parking is very convenient and the hotel is located right in the center of pleasant Saint Flour.
Review 11:Perfect stopover, near the motorway. Great building and good location near old town centre. Excellent restaurant - food and wine delicious. Rooms very simply decorated (in keeping with history as a seminary) but exceptionally clean. Excellent value for money for a family room. Would definitely return.
Review 12:Jut a little complaint: considering all the wonderful fruit that is available at the moment we were disappointed by the quality of the fruit at breakfast! The mattress was alarmingly bouncy.
Review 13:It is a beautiful place, the room had a wonderful view, and the hotel has an interesting history. The people there were charming and very helpful when we needed advice, and one lady took us to the station, for which we were very grateful. The food in the restaurant was good, and nicely served.
Review 14:The 'cabin' bath in the bedroom was adequate for us, dimensions just to about to work, but there are also showers outside the bedroom.
Review 15:Room to the front, excellent views.
Review 16:Breakfast was a bit of a scrum.
Review 17:The quirky rooms with the tiny, but perfectly formed, shower-room/toilet. Good restaurant on site, lovely terrace and views
Review 18:The en suite shower room is tiny, we managed fine but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone large!
Review 19:The building is really interesting. The food was excellent. Fabulous view from our room.
Review 20:Strange to be asked to check out the evening in advance.
Review 21:Simple but functional hotel in an old clerical building. Friendly staff. Good hotel for a single night's stay. Not too far from motorway, therefore a good place when 'en route'.
Review 22:The internet didn't work. Provision of tea/coffee and a hair dryer would enhance the hotel. Staff only available at certain times
Review 23:The hotel was clean and had been modernised from its former use as a seminary. It was good value for money.
Review 24:We arrived at Ascention, and the hotel was busy with big (and rather noisy) groups. The staff were rushed of their feet, and as a result, our stay was not as pleasant as it might have been.
Review 25:A very interesting building within walking distance of the lovely old centre of St. Flour.

Review 29:Staff very helpful, food good and well presented, wine selection is good.the room was warm and clean with a lovely views and facilities adequate.
Review 30:Wifi was available but intermittent. During the winter the staff are only available from 0800 to 1300 and 1600 to 2100. Breakfast menu was disappointing at E8 each.
Review 31:Pet Friendly Huge old building Onsite secure parking Elevator Wifi - Good although due to the location goes off from time to time. Helpful staff Good food
Review 32:Excellent location Stunning building and views Good food,if simple breakfast Spacious(if simply furnished)bedroom&bathroom(but contained wetroom) Friendly&helpful hosts.
Review 33:We were blown away by the history of the place and pleasantly surprised, had only booked it as a pitstop due to reasonable price. Its an ancient priests seminary, has its own chapel on the first floor plus an oratory. We had a good look around and were so impressed. The bedrooms have been restored nicely. Its clean and spacious. Breakfast is adequate. Breathtaking views from our window. Super parking. Loads of space. Very peaceful, loved it. Almost feels like a retreat. And a short stroll into the charming historic town of St. Flour, uphill. History everywhere, just a brilliant place to stop en route to Spain for us.
