Reviews for Le Gai Soleil
Review 1:Very well located close to the village and skilift. Fantastic hospitality and great food. Very nice room, spotless, you can see that attention is given to little details to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Can only highly recommend a stay here!
Review 2:The bathroom could do with a little upgrade.
Review 3:The place is very well located. And this is very good quality for the price. We had a good stay! Breakfast was very good as well.
Review 4:That we couldn't stay longer
Review 5:Location just a few minutes walk to centre of town. Close enough without the hassles to park and noise. Great view. Great host, felt like staying with family.
Review 6:The hotel was quiet and a friendly place to stay. Having a restaurant and bar on site was useful for us as also the short walk into town. This made it ideal as a stop over on our way to Italy.
Review 7:I had dinner at the hotel, it went well. However during the night I felt bad and I had to go the restroom urgently.I took a pill I had with myself and a tea in the room. I just took something from the buffet at breakfast. I felt good a few hours later. I think something they gave me for dinner was expired or otherwise contaminated.
Review 8:The location, the room was small and a bit too hot (under the roof) but not too uncomfortable (and the price was low).
Review 9:The bathroom had an inclined ceiling, but we knew this when booking. A bit of bending over when you enter and you're fine
Review 10:Beautiful room and view. Well located in a quiet area but close to the centre. Very friendly & helpful staff. Beautiful dining room and great food very affordable.
Review 11:Because the town is a maze of one-way streets, the hotel can be very hard to find, even with a GPS. But, once there, you can walk to everything.
Review 12:The Irish owner, Beth, is a delight and gave us lots of advice and help to make our stay very pleasant. A superb, stylish pool, beautiful views out the window, quality products in the bathroom, a tea kettle and lots of coffee, tea, chocolate, etc. really seduced us. Very quiet location, and a super comfy bed. If there was an internet problem in the past, Beth told us it was fixed now by the addition of a second router, and we had excellent wifi. Gay friendly.
Review 13:nothing
Review 14:Peaceful yet central location, high quality beds/bedding/soft furnishings, modern bathroom, extremely clean and lovely balcony.Very nice outside terrace overlooking the pool. Pool has sun loungers and pool towel available on each lounger so no need to go looking for them! We received a relaxed warm welcome and will return without hesitation
Review 15:Nothing!
Review 16:The location of the hotel is great for access to the main lift, Rochbrune where you can collect skis from Phillippe Sports and grab your lift pass for the day, it's also a short walk into town. Staff are excellent. Rooms recently refurbished and food was excellent. Megeve is an expensive resort but this hotel offers great value for money!
Review 17:I would recommend that the speed of the WiFi be improved to cope with most travellers requirements.
Review 18:The bathroom was far above average for Alp hotels of this price range.
Review 19:nothing.exceeded our expectations for a 2 star.if it had spa etc would be perfect.
Review 20:location,service,staff,friendliness. everything you would expect from a 4/5 star hotel execpt this is only a 2 star.
Review 21:fantastic staff, friendly and helpful.nothing was too much trouble. Excellent breakfast, good value dinner. we spent a week there and felt like old friends by the end of the week.
Review 22:Nothing
Review 23:Beth was delightful and hugely helpful. We loved the meal we had there and the breakfast was indeed complete. The weekend went really well and this is in no small part down to Beth's local knowledge and advice. I would love to return. As a ski area Megeve was more than adequate for a weekend and the hire shop Beth suggest was at the bottom of the lift and really good.
Review 24:Lovely traditionally decorated rooms, delicious breakfast and great traditional savoyard dishes for dinner that were very well priced as eating out in Megeve can be very pricey. Staff were super helpful and happy to pick us up from our friends' place on the other side of town and drop us to the bus station when we left. They were also happy to store our luggage and let us use the shower before we caught the afternoon bus back to Geneva. Conveniently located in a quiet street close to the village and access to the ski slopes.
Review 25:If you're taller than 1,50 then forget the rooms at the 3rd floor. It is not possible to have shower in the minuscule bathroom because the ceiling is too low. the rooms are too small for 3 people even though the hotel sells under the name of triple room. lack of lift is another problem if you have heavy luggages
Review 26:the location is near to the city center. Free parking possibility. Good breakfast
Review 27:Lady at the reception. She was not welcoming. From what I ve read on other commentaries the english owners were friendly. Unfortunately they were absence. Must put someone who likes the job! She spoke to us just like we were there to disturb her !
Review 28:Upgraded to a bigger room
Review 29:We inadvertently left an item in one of the drawers, which we asked should be returned to us in an envelope. This has not been done - pity, we wonder why?
Review 30:Friendly welcome, room pleasant with balcony. Good value for money.
Review 31:The room was very small, but what more can one expect for 40 eur a night.
Review 32:The staff was very nice and helpful. It takes 5 min to walk to town centre. Queet surroundings. Good breakfest. The dinner in hotel's restaurant was excellent. The choice is limited to only one fixed menu, but it was veeeryy goood. And each night there is a different menu.
Review 33:Nothing much, although you could people moving around in theupstairs rooms.
Review 34:This hotel was in a great location only a 5 minute walk into the towncentre. The staff could not be more helpful, they always had smiles ontheir faces. Our room was typical European, was clean, had an excellentbed and all the facilities were available.
Review 35:If you are touring the Cols, the 'commute' to the Cols via Albertville adds a few miles to your day !
Review 36:Excellent hosts, nice hotel, motorbike friendly. Not far from many Cols (summer drive) or many ski fields (winter). For a 'commute', the access from Ungine is a nice way to start and finish the day. M Hotel (2 mins walk) is swanky. Town plaza (5 mins walk) has bars, pizzerias, etc. Nice little town with traditional Alpe setting.
Review 37:The friendliness, the excellent breakfast. It was a bit cool for the pool but it's a nice extra. There are very good products in the bathroom. Try the body cream - It's the best. Lots of shelves & cupboard space in the room. Proximity to Megeve centre.
Review 38:Friendly, knowledgeable and helpful owner and staff; comfortable beds with cotton linens; spacious and nicely decorated rooms; full tubs in baths; amazing and full breakfasts including eggs, meats, variety of breads, cereals, yogurt and refills of coffee; hot tub; excellent evening menu with reasonable prices; close enough to walk to town but away from crowded streets; sufficient parking.
Review 39:Single rooms are cramped and the toilet in room no:1 was too small.
Review 40:I liked the place because the staff are very helpful and friendly. Having stayed there for a week time, I felt as if I was treated like a family member. The ladies even helped me in carrying my heavy suitcase. After 3 nights when I asked to change my room for me, they did. I tried the food and liked it. It was also reasonably priced. The location is very good too. There are enough parking slots. My TomTom GPS could not locate it for me, but Google Maps did. I will definately stay again.
Review 41:The bathroom - toilet in a separate and cramped room with no washbasin. Bath very small and shower unusable (unless you're under 4'6" tall) as it is under the staircase with insufficient headroom and no screen. No lift.
Review 42:Hot tub is a bonus (although indoors). Location as it's an easy stroll to the town centre.
Review 43:Great breakfast
Review 44:Great location
Review 45:A very warm and inviting place with lovely people there. It was that nice we decided to stay an extra night!! Many thanks!
Review 46:Excellent staff - friendly and very helpful.
Review 47:Nithing
Review 48:Everything
Review 49:Some rooms have hair driers, some don't
Review 50:Great value for money hotel in a beautiful village
Review 51:The owner and staff are very friendly. There is a good breakfast buffet.
Review 52:Nothing was bad
Review 53:Great value. Friendly and helpful people. Nice breakfast. Fantastic for a short break in Megeve!
Review 54:We absolutely loved the place. Will hopefully be staying there again on our next trip to Megeve.
Review 55:bathroom extremely small and dangereous for bumping heads not sure about fire safety
Review 56:big room, with many clean towels good wifi good deal for 3 night stay
Review 57:Friendly staff, very clean, great breakfast and pool.
Review 58:my tomtom navigator had a wrong direction for it, so I put it the address not as point of interest as hotel in Megeve; nice wooden house in mountains, good room; as it is not high season – it was very quiet, they also have a small swimming pool; no breakfast included; free quick wifi everywhere
Review 59:The window in the bathroom
Review 60:We came to ride in a bicycle race in the area. The owner was great. She let us hold the room till 5:00 pm so we could shower after the race. She put clean towels in the room for us and was just great about the thing
Review 61:Nothing.
Review 62:My son and I arrived in mid April for a last ski and the owner, Beth, was extremely helpful and even drove us to and collected us from Les Contamines so we could get good skiing.Lovely hotel with good breakfast and snug bar area. Staff very helpful. Rooms clean, comfortable beds and well sound proofed with lovely views from the front.. Well situated between the ski lifts and the centre of town. A little gem which I would definitely go back to.
Review 63:Wifi issues on first day needed to be resolved by a router reboot. Bed quite short to fit into the room, but wasn't too much of an issue since I was staying solo and was able to sleep diagonally.
Review 64:Friendly staff, reasonable location for walk in to the centre of town. Clean and comfortable room.
Review 65:Considering the price there is nothing more I could have wanted with this hotel.
Review 66:This was a great find, the staff were incredibly helpful and efficient, the location was great and the price was even better. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and would definitely stay again.
Review 67:Repetitive and limited breakfast, extremely small bathroom and very short bed for 1.90 height.
Review 68:Nice cozy hotel, well located between town centre and Rochebrune ski lift.
Review 69:The uphill walk to the ski lifts! But we got fitter by the end of the week,...
Review 70:Really friendly people, felt like a real family atmosphere, they couldn't do enough to help us. We really enjoyed hot chocolate and free home made cakes every afternoon when we came in after skiing.
Review 71:Even by 2 star standards the hotel is tired. Taps are tight, electric sockets ancient and ceiling was crumbling onto landing.
Review 72:The staff were friendly and attentive, especially the manager.
Review 73:The room is a bit small, but ok for several days - anyways, you are not staying long in your room being in Megeve.
Review 74:Nice cosy hotel with very nice owners & staff, located 5-7 min walk to the downtown. Everything is very-very clean and comfortable! Very pleasant service.
Review 75:The staff were so warm and friendly and welcoming. Wonderful breakfasts really set you up for the day on the mountains and return back for super dinners. The jacuzzi was especially welcome to ease aching limbs. Overall, great value for money. I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel and would definitely stay here again.
Review 76:This hotel is perfect in every way, very comfortable, great food, exceptionally friendly staff and well located. We could not have found a better hotel. I really enjoyed the views from my room and even took up a morning coffee before breakfast to just sit for 10 minutes. The chef ran us to the ski lift everyday, nothing was too much trouble for the team.
Review 77:Excellent customer services, copious breakfast, top quality dinner with local wines and cheeses,a great pool to relax in and a great location close to town centre and ski facilities.
Review 78:Bedrooms quite compact, particularly if had separate toilet in room
Review 79:Very good 2 star hotel, worth 3 star, manageress was excellent, she worked very hard and always tried to please
Review 80:The rooms are relatively small The hotel is quite old and the rooms can be noisy.
Review 81:Delicious five-course dinner Professional and friendly staff Location is perfect between Chamois and Rochebrune skilifts Megeve is a beautiful village and the centre is just a 5-minute walk away from the hotel.
Review 82:Poor sound insulation! neighbouring room turned radio on rediculously early in the morning. Cramped shower-room and no bath, which is a must after skiing!
Review 83:Very friendly staff.
Review 84:One staff person was always in a hurry and quite abrupt with us. Another one was very helpful even tho my French is not very good. But Beth was the best for English speaking people. I wish the room were larger.
Review 85:I liked the staff woman named Beth who spoke English. We loved the food. I liked the care they took with the food. I liked the feel of the place. THe shower was very good.

Review 95:Bed a little hard if I had to really be a pain

Review 97:The Jacuzzi needs to be booked in advance, so very little chance to have it.
Review 98:Silence and the location.

Review 100:Charm and friendliness
