Reviews for The Coach House Hotel

Review 1:Nothing

Review 2:Location was lovely, especially for new year, very spacious room, extremely comfortable king sized bed, although en-suite was a little small, shower was very powerful, excellent quality breakfast, great views from bedroom windows

Review 3:If I had to be picky and looking for any negatives then it would maybe be a limited food menu and the bed could be doing with being bigger.

Review 4:Staff were very friendly and attentive. Beautiful location and excellent food

Review 5:Food not the freshest, a bit pricey considering the shared bathroom/shower.

Review 6:Great location near a lovely walk to Loch Tay. Family run has a homey feeling.

Review 7:I found the stairs to the attic room quite steep and whilst this in itself was not a problem the curve at the top of the stairs combined with lack of a rail there was difficult.

Review 8:Liked location cleanliness, friendliness of the staff and excellent quality of the food.

Review 9:We had to share a bathroom with some other rooms. We didn't mind this but if you don't want to make sure you book the en-suite rooms.

Review 10:We booked this one night away as a base for hill walking. Killin is the perfect location for exploring. The B&B was easy to find & we got checked in quickly. The room was fresh and clean (very comfy bed!) and we had a mountain view. We had dinner in the B&B bar which was super tasty! Great atmosphere in the bar. At 9pm they had live music which was fantastic & such great fun. The breakfast the next day was superb & set us up for a day on the hill. Would definitely go back here & would highly recommend this B&B.

Review 11:The hotel smelled like cooking grease and the wi-fi worked onlysporadically. Using the tv involved three remotes and the bathroomvanity was directly in front of a window with the shaving mirror behindyou. The full Scottish breakfast was the most disappointing of all wehad during our two-week tour of Scotland. Coffee? Real coffee, please!!

Review 12:Good location and ample parking.

Review 13:Wouldn't describe breakfast as Scottish. No porridge on offer. Sausage mediocre. Younger people serving breakfast first morning were lovely and helpful. The older lady meeting us the first evening not very welcoming. Breakfast cooked by same lady 2nd morning hum.

Review 14:Room and bed excellent

Review 15:The family who runs this establishment are lovely and the food was very good. They made our stay incredibly comfortable and regularly enquired about our comfort. The pub downstairs seems to be frequented by locals which added to our stay.

Review 16:WiFi was spotty, and we were unclear on how best to track down a staff member if we had questions. Shared bathroom.

Review 17:We were pleasantly surprised by the area. The waterfalls were really beautiful, and there were some nice restaurants. The inn had a great reading room with a huge book selection, so that was a plus!

Review 18:Nothing terrible really. Wi fi was bit patchy but that's the deal in that part of Scotland. Be aware that they stop serving food around 8:00 p.m. and that children are not allowed in the bar area after that time. It's a legal thing. Food was not inspiring - more "traditional" but enough to fill the gap.

Review 19:Nice hotel in a beautiful part of the world. Staff were pleasant and efficient. Everything was clean. Good breakfasts, comfortable beds, hot water. I'd be happy to come back.

Review 20:On arrival there was an 'aroma' which turned out to be the toilets in the bar. This was overpowering when people were going in and out of the loos. I found it offensive.

Review 21:The main house was very charming with original features with a beautiful dining room.

Review 22:Thank-you for our stay; the family run business was wonderful, and Bandit the dog was such a lovely mascot. Rooms neat, tidy, comfortable, bar area perfect, restaurant fab for a night in, and position nice and quiet whilst still within walking distance to Main Street facilities.

Review 23:Stayed at The Coach House about 10 years ago, when it was a run down, youth hostel level B&B. Now it's been upgraded to a well run, well renovated little hotel with a qood sense of detail in all regards. We really recommend.

Review 24:I Could have done without live music going on till midnight although the quality of the band and the packed bar suggest many others enjoyed it.

Review 25:Friendly staff, beautiful location, nice room, breakfast was excellent. Good value for money.

Review 26:Economy breakfast; cheapest sausage and no choice over which cooked breakfast. Only one tea bag in a pot of tea for two. Come on guys! Everything else is fantastic, so don't let yourself down at the very end of a stay by offering such a penny-pinching breakfast!

Review 27:Super-friendly staff and good meals and ale in their bar. Live music in the bar

Review 28:Nothing really except the drive along the lake my wife thought the road was too narrow and a motorbike took a corner to quickly and almost hit us head on.

Review 29:The location was excellent as we're the staff and the room. I never enjoy carrying cases up staircases but it was not too bad. Evening Food was ok perhaps not as good as I am used too but breakfast was very good and the staff were very friendly and attentive.

Review 30:No bad experience for me, but the wifi connection wasn't great which might annoy others

Review 31:Clean, comfortable beds, very friendly staff, books in the room, pub had live music on the night we stayed, close to the loch as well as the Falls of Doctor, breakfast was great

Review 32:Did not have same experience as other reviews. The hosts were not friendly at all. Just seemed tired of hosting. We were in a tiny tiny room with 2 single beds and had to go down hall to a shared bathroom. Not ideal. But fine for a hostel type accommodation (make sure you get an ensuite room). Ok. But we were charged way way too much. The same as much nicer ensuite rooms elsewhere. It is a total rip. We will not go back and donor recommend this place. Our worst experience in the uk

Review 33:Selection of videos. Clean

Review 34:None that I can think of.

Review 35:Location. Excellent cooked breakfast included. Live band and reasonably priced drinks in the bar. Friendly staff. Cool dog.

Review 36:Couldn't get a decent wifi signal anywhere in the property.

Review 37:Friendly, family-run hotel, situated at the edge of the village within a short stroll of a few good restaurants. Good choice for walkers.

Review 38:Wonderful friendly family-run hotel. Great room, spotless, good breakfast, lovely location overlooking the river and slightly out of town. Lovely fun little pub/bar attached (had live music when we were there). Great location for Ben Lawers and surrounding Munroes.

Review 39:This is not really a 'didn't like' We were staying 4 nights and, although I've praised the quality of the breakfast, there were no cooked options to give a bit of variety. At £95 a night I would have expected some other choices. Also, it's a shame that the breakfast wasn't more 'Scottish' with porridge, tattie scones, lorne sausage and perhaps some haggis or fried fruit pudding, etc on the menu.

Review 40:A very nice, well decorated and well appointed place, outside and in. The owners were friendly and very helpful. The breakfast was also good.

Review 41:thin raggy small bathtowels, dirty uncleaned bath front, and toilet, only 4 coathangers, dusty room, uncomfortable mattress,

Review 42:large room, lovely view, spa bath, breakfast

Review 43:The only thing I would mention would be that the foods not consistent, the first night it was very good but the second night wasn't so great which was a shame.

Review 44:Loved the location, the staff were really nice, our room was amazing and the cleanliness was fantastic. We will definitely be returning to The Coach House in Killin.

Review 45:The Hotel smelled of dog The bathroom floor in our room had engrained dirt in the grooves of the tiles it was disgusting. The bed was small The room was dated The fire in the public room is not a coal fire but an electric one The view from our room looked onto an untidy and unkempt garden area The food was overpriced for the quality

Review 46:The owners were friendly log fire in bar The breakfast room was stunning The view from the room beyond garden was good

Review 47:Only complaint no mugs in the room :( only cups and saucers.

Review 48:The Coach House is a lovely hotel nestled in the village of Killin the rooms and views are stunning, the staff friendly and its reasonably priced. We ate in the bar in the evening and the food was lovely.

Review 49:Had some issues getting a good Wifi signal in the room.

Review 50:The room was big and comfortable and the four poster bed was great. Had a great dinner in the lounge and had a chance to chat with some of the locals.. Breakfast was terrific..

Review 51:Room 'Rannoch - double standard £65 one night' was a side view room with little view. No food available on arrival at 830pm and breakfast finished by 9am. Room was clean enough.

Review 52:Bar prices & live singer/guitarist.

Review 53:Could have had more than 2 hangers in the cupboard and maybe shower gel instead of soap. Not much to complain about really!

Review 54:Breakfast was very good, clean and friendly.

Review 55:Evening meal in the bar I would have preferred to pay extra and had our meal in the breakfast room /restaurant

Review 56:the overall experience of staying at the Coach house was good

Review 57:There's not much to dislike really It's not in the centre of Killin if that is what you are looking for

Review 58:Well-turned out rooms Good breakfast Killin is a lovely little town

Review 59:Unfortunately kitchen in centre of hotel no fans so smell drifts upstairs .No we wouldn't stay again expensive and wouldn't class as hotel .

Review 60:Good distance to travel around area . Lovely views frm breakfast room and nice walks .

Review 61:Room 2 was side facing with little view and a bit depressing. Ensuite bathroom was very dated. Steep stairs and no lift.

Review 62:Staff were friendly and helpful. Location on edge of town. Comfortable bed. Attractive traditional building.

Review 63:What's not to like.

Review 64:We had a great time and would highly recommend The Coach House Hotel. A short walk from the town centre, but if you wanted to stay for a meal or just relax it has all you need. Very friendly family run pub.

Review 65:Front door heavy and clashes noisily. Needs some dampening system. Main room lighting (energy saving bulb), could do with being a bit more powerful for the room size. (Lyon room). Told breakfast served 8am onward. I like to be up earlier and out on long day activities; so 7.30am or 7 am option would have been preferable.

Review 66:Heating on in morning and at night. Room basic, but more importantly quiet with comfortable bed. Bathroom a bit dated but adequate and hot water always available. Power shower so vicious it'll knock yer wig off. Handy for all local amenities, especially Killin Golf Club course. Bar had good selection and welcoming.

Review 67:The facilities. The staff. The Land lord gave a us a small cute hand-drawn map for a good walk to see all the facets the landscape arround Killin has to offer. Excellent Bar with very good prices!

Review 68:Staff/owners were not always easy to find but this was not a big issue. They were very pleasant and helpful when questions arose.

Review 69:The hotel is in a beautiful and convenient location, within walking distance of Loch Tay, and the town of Killin. The river is in front of the hotel. The adjacent pub is a lively place on weekends and the food was good. Although we shared a bathroom, there was never any inconvenience and it was always clean. The room had a pleasant view and was attractive to stay in. The breakfast was good, and the breakfast room lovely.

Review 70:breakfast was poor; full Scottish breakfast it was not. Basic food menu and too expensive with no taste, although hot baguette lovely (chicken not fresh). Bottle of wine far too expensive for this place - it is low class with no personality. Will not be visiting this establishment again.

Review 71:friendly locals

Review 72:There are no en suite bathrooms. 6 rooms share one bathroom. We were alone on the floor so it didn't present a problem for us but could be too crowded 12 people sharing one bathroom

Review 73:The rooms look nice and are clean. The shower is good and very clean

Review 74:PART OF THE STAFF WAS UNFRIENDLY AND NOT HELPFUL, WE NEEDED A BLANKET FOR OUR 2 YEAR-OLD SON AND THEY DIDN´T HAVE ANY, INCREDIBLE! THE WORST THING WAS THAT THEY GAVE US A HIGH SEAT FOR OUR SON VERY VERY DIRTY

Review 75:Food with no imagination. Such a pleasant hotel deserves a better cook.

Review 76:It's a beautiful house, the breakfast room is very nicely renovated. Our room, very nicely refurbished too, was large, bright and comfortable. Nice view on the river. Owners welcoming.

Review 77:- everything was excellent - nice and clean room - friendly staff - small pub in the house - very tasty breakfast - wash basin in the room

Review 78:owners are very freindly, rooms lovley and comfortable, loved the fact that we could eat and drink as well as be entertained by live music all in one place, also lovely walks in surrounding area and close proximity to other tourist sites and lochs

Review 79:The Coach House advertisers internet access via wifi throughout the hotel and we could not access internet anywhere in the hotel except a poor signal in the bar, it would be better to not indicate internet access if you dont have it!

Review 80:Our only disappointment were the sausages served at breakfast they were anaemic and tasteless.

Review 81:Our room was lovely. The staff were great and the hotel itself is excellent. Beautifully decorated and furnished. Our evening meal was yummy and the menu choice is very good.

Review 82:Duvet was quite narrow but functional. Being at one end of the town, it was some distance from the Falls, although quite walkable.

Review 83:Easy to find as adjacent to the main road. Breakfast was served quickly and professionally. Room to the rear was very quiet. A nice lounge for reading and relaxing.

Review 84:We got to the hotel very hungry, after a long day of driving. We did'nt worry about dinner as they had a pub downstairs, but we were surprised to learn they only serve meals until 8pm.

Review 85:Staff was very friendly and the room and bathroom were very clean and comfortable. We had a good time with the live band at the pub and breakfast was great!

Review 86:Lovely looking Hotel, built in 1879, beautiful dinning room, bedroom was gorgeous and comfortable with great views. The whirlpool bath was epic. The staff were lovely as was Bandit their lovely doggy. The food was fine. Fab choice of fiction and non-fiction books in their library and extensive dvd selection to choose from.

Review 87:A couple of spare blankets would have been good, as we found the doona on the bed too hot. There is live music till late on a Saturday night, which did not keep us awake, but it's something to be aware of. Bathroom fairly small, but shower was good.

Review 88:Very spacious room with lovely views. Bed comfortable. Helpful staff. Very pleasant setting for a satisfying breakfast. Could not hear other guests coming and going from their rooms.

Review 89:Despite a fancy, new jacuzzi bath in the room, there were no shower facilities available in the room. Breakfast was only average, and I'd expect more selection and higher quality ingredients for the price paid. Room lacked basics e.g. bath mat, tissues, biscuits to go with tea and coffee and as the room was £95 per night, I'd expect more.

Review 90:A nice, well located hotel but over priced. Very comfy large bed and jacuzzi bath.

Review 91:A little pricey for shared bathroom, but the whole of Scotland was booked solid for the time I was there so not surprising!

Review 92:Great family, yet professional service. Great location. Good room. Quiet for sleeping. Etc.

Review 93:The bar is rather disappointing and drab in comparison with the hotel itself and somewhat lacking in character. The bar food was OK, but a garnish of some sort of green, salad? would have been welcomed with the chilli con carne, and the breaded fish had come out of a freezer, which just seems a bit sad in these days where many places take the effort to try to locally-source ingredients. The same goes for the sausages at breakfast, catering pack type, though I confess I didn't actually eat one myself. My husband said they were not good. In all, the quality of the facade of the building and the interior of the hotel just somehow didn't match what was being offered in the other half of the business and disappointed the expectations a bit - it's kind of neither one thing or the other. Perhaps we are a bit out of touch, but nearly 200 pounds for 2 nights bed and breakfast and a fairly uninteresting and basic bar meal with drinks did seem just a tad steep. WiFi , well, we were not the only people to be told it was 'due to the number of guests in the village at the time', and 'we don't have fibre optic or cable' - well neither do we.. However we connected quickly in a very busy pub by the bridge with no problem and no charge either, incidentally we also enjoyed an excellent meal there too. Sadly nowadays WiFi where advertised is expected and this needs sorting.

Review 94:The hotel is situated towards the end of the village, a short walk from the shops and other amenities in what must originally have been a beautiful and elegant house. The current owners have tastefully renovated the hotel. Our room was well appointed, clean, a good size with a good bathroom and shower. The views over the river and the landscape beyond are lovely, whatever the weather. The dining room is splendid - IMHO just crying out to be made into a proper restaurant for evening meals. There is an elegant lounge too with lots of books for those wet days. We had to leave very early in the morning and the owners left some milk for us so we could at least have a bowl of cereal in the dining room, which was kind.

Review 95:Wifi was impossible to connect to, breakfast was very mean looking. Shower room next door to bedroom was small, and filthy. Mildew in corners.

Review 96:Location, Comfortable room with four poster bed.

Review 97:The only downside was that the breakfast was not great. It would be nice if decaf coffee were available, if the cold cereal choices were better (not sugar soaked prepackaged Kellogg's stuff) and if the available fruit were fresh. I think most people would be willing to pay a couple of pounds more per night for a somewhat spruced up breakfast.

Review 98:comfortable and very clean room, pleasant, helpful staff.

Review 99:Hospitality of the owners was superb. Very friendly place and spotlessly clean and well run. Live band at night in the bar was excellent. We would certainly return to this hotel.

Review 100:Only complaint by all 4 of us much traveled guests, was the disappointingly weak tea and coffee at breakfast. Today, a higher standard is so easily attainable that, when deficient, is cause for displeasure.

Review 101:Very pleasant staff, comfortable en-suite rooms [we were 2 retired couples], and surprisingly quiet at night despite bring on main Killin road. All in all, a good night's rest.

Review 102:Our landlord drove us to the start of a forest walk. The breakfasts were excellent served in a very pleasant room. Pub meals were also tasty and filling. A good library.

Review 103:Arrived at 21:10 Friday night and couldn't get any food, no offer at all.

Review 104:Entertainment was a bonus the bar was good and breakfast service was good with friendly staff

Review 105:There was no flexibility on breakfast time (having a long day ahead of us we had asked if it was possible to get breakfast half an hour earlier if we passed on a cooked breakfast).

Review 106:Comfortable rooms, clean, friendly staff. Very good breakfast.

Review 107:Stairs to top floor steep.

Review 108:Wonderful views, highland atmosphere in furnishings etc chosen, eg tartan carpet, paintings. Comfortable lounge on ground floor. Family run, helpful staff. Lots of books from references, local info and novels as well detailed local maps.

Review 109:Breakfast was not worth the time to eat. Plan to eat breakfast elsewhere. The showers were small and the windows dirty. There are many stairs to climb so if you have trouble getting up stairs plan to stay at a different location.

Review 110:The location was superior, however we traveled out from the hotel every day to locations throughout Scotland and back at night. It made a long drive. Great location for staying put but not for a base to travel back and forth from. Killin has much to see and the staff at the Coach House was very helpful.

Review 111:We had difficulties connecting to the wifi.

Review 112:We stayed in the Tummel room on the top floor. We brought a travel cot for our two year old son and it fitted in nicely. No extra charge for him. There is a bar at the hotel and we were somewhat worried about the noise level as there were live music, but it was not an issue at all. Breakfast come swiftly and staff was very friendly and accomodating.

Review 113:The room, and location of the hotel were both lovely. Great library! Friendly family who run it

Review 114:none

Review 115:Friendly staff and excellent service. Everyone at the hotel made us very welcome and helped us to feel at home.

Review 116:Friendly staff, nice bar and lounge, relaxing and laid back atmosphere, clean and comfortable room.

Review 117:The night time noise from the shared toilet next door.

Review 118:The location, the real ale, the Saturday night band, the view.

Review 119:View of roof tops even though empty rooms with a view.

Review 120:Picturesque location, ample parking.

Review 121:Great staff.lovely food.nice room very comfy bed.great pub on a sat night.

Review 122:The hotel managers were welcoming, friendly and very attentive. The bathroom was spotless. The food was excellent.

Review 123:The whirlpoolbath in my room was amazing. My room was excellent. Food was good too.

Review 124:Room decor tired and needs modernising. Stairs to the top floor made it difficult with luggage

Review 125:Friendly staff. Big breakfast provided

Review 126:The owners/staff were friendly and welcoming. Lovely views from our room.

Review 127:Live music until 12.30pm at adjoining pub a bit annoying, we were told about this as we arrived to be fair.

Review 128:Extremely friendly and helpful staff

Review 129:Not the hosts fault but internet access is hopeless in Killin

Review 130:Great hosts and an excellent breakfast. Only a short walk to town.
