Reviews for Le Clos de l'Abbaye
Review 1:It would have been nice to have a TV and/or stereo in the room
Review 2:The location, decor, ambience and friendliness and service of the owner are 2nd to none. It is a beautiful home and it felt as though we were staying with a lifelong friend. It was an apartment complete with a complete workout machine in one of the rooms we occupied.
Review 3:No, everything was excellent.
Review 4:Christiane and Didier made us very welcome and were extremely helpful with advice on where to eat and things to see. The accommodation on the first floor, which overlooked the garden, was extensive and comprised a large bedroom, separate sitting area and separate shower and toilet. The facilities were modern within an attractive old farmhouse. Breakfast (vegetarian) was splendid and comprised fresh orange juice, fresh fruit, a selection of fresh baguettes, cheeses, patisseries and home made preserves, superb. Overall an excellent stay.
Review 5:The 'room' is really a suite, with a large, extremely comfortable bedroom, a similarly luxurious living room, and a sepearate bath and WC. The hosts are absolutely charming and helpful. Breakfast was bountiful and beautifully prepared. Secure off-street parking for car or bikes. We shall surely return.
Review 6:A delightful room with a separate sitting area. A good sized table on which there was a kettle and various teas and coffee and also great space for using a laptop or IPad or spreading out a map. Bathroom and Toilet were separate but I had sole use. Quiet area but easy walking to restaurants and the centre of St Omer. On arrival, wondered whether it was the correct address as there was no sign of a house - just a brown wooden gate and a telephone number which didn't match the one on the Booking website! However, behind the gates was a lovely secret garden and amazing house owned by really welcoming hosts. So enjoyed speaking to them in French which I think they appreciated!
Review 7:Everything. The owners are delightful and friendly. Comfortable and cosy. Nice and warm on a late autumn weekend. The breakfast delicious. I will return once again
Review 8:No TVs in the room but we only stayed for 1 evening so that was fine.
Review 9:A very nice welcome from the owners when we arrived, good advice where to eat within walking distance.
Review 10:A fascinating renovation of an old watermill into a high quality guest house. Situated quietly just out of the centre of Saint Omer. The hosts are two very friendly people who, without fuss, make you very welcome - nothing is too much trouble.
Review 11:Nothing negative to report
Review 12:Beautifully furnished bedroom and sitting area. Lovely breakfast served in very nice dining room. Very safe off road parking
Review 13:a little out from the centre but we enjoyed our walk after a days motorcycling
Review 14:a friendly welcome after a long days motorcycling. lovely place and grounds.we didn't eat here but there was coffee in the rooms. very clean, great shower, secure parking
Review 15:I could not fault one single thing. It was the best night of our three week trip
Review 16:Christians and Didier were delightful, helpful and run a fantastic B&B. Amazing value and atmosphere for the money
Review 17:Interesting property in a quiet garden setting close to the old abbey and in easy walking distance of the restaurants of St Omer. Good breakfast and welcome from the hosts.
Review 18:The location tucked away near the town centre and is very quiet and well placed to visit the town. Beautifully designed house and garden and wonderful breakfast. Directed to local restaurants and shops by the hosts and things to see on our onward journey.
Review 19:NONE
Review 20:There was nothing about this property that I could fault, everything was excellent. The staff were very attentive to our needs and requirements. The room is like an apartment with excellent decor and comfort standards. We would stay again and wished we could have stayed longer. The breakfast was superb and of a very high standard. This is a gem of a place and would recommend to all looking for a stopover or for longer. EXCELLENT...
Review 21:Check in time is at 1800 which is late. The toilet was not en-suite although it was part of our accommodation.
Review 22:Everything. The room was the size of an apartment, with every amenity you could wish for. The staff were superb.
Review 23:Lovely owners, in a peaceful, quiet location, which encompassed an oasis of a beautiful garden. Excellent room and facilities, with a generous choice of breakfast.
Review 24:The facilities were excellent. Our hosts were charming, helpful and extremely considerate. Breakfast was sensational and the cost was ridiculously low.
Review 25:The proprietors (Christiane and Didier) were very warm and welcoming and even contacted us prior to our stay to inform us about parking, directions etc. and to enquire about our check-in time. Our room was lovely with plenty of space - it was almost like a suite with a large lounge area and steps up to a mezzanine floor which was the bedroom. Outside this area, there was a separate toilet and a shower room and even a mini gym! The lounge area was equipped with team, coffee, water and biscuits - everything was traditionally French. There were towels provided in the shower room and a hairdryer in the bedroom. There was also a fan and free WiFi. The breakfast was absolutely wonderful - continental style with cereals, croissants, bread, fruit loaf, plenty of fresh fruit and yoghurts and all for 8 Euros per person!
Review 26:Everything was excellent
Review 27:Everything! The owners, room and outlook was brilliant. We were the only guests and even got to choose the room we wanted to stay in.. The breakfast was delicious and set us up for a long drive. We are already planning when we can return and spend more time in St Omer and especially Le Clos d'Abbaye
Review 28:Wow! This is one of the best places we've ever stayed at. Don't be put off by the exterior gate. We arrived at 5pm to a friendly welcome and were shown both rooms, which looked amazing. The owners couldn't do enough to help us, giving us plenty of information about the area. The breakfast was awesome - definitely make sure you include this in your booking.
Review 29:Everything perfect!
Review 30:Everything! Stunning house, spacious bedroom room with separate lounge area. Private, lovely expansive garden. Fabulous hosts who really looked after us. Breakfasts were delicious.
Review 31:We were looking for a one-night stay on the way to UK via Calais - but this place was an absolute hidden gem! The couple who own it were the best of hosts, the accommodation everything we wanted and the breakfast was just beautiful and lots of it too. You couldn't get better value for money.
Review 32:Nothing!
Review 33:The hosts were fabulous and very welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble and the room was spotless. We look forward to stopping with them again.

Review 35:Wonderful traditional French house. Lovely friendly owners & fabulous breakfast. Nice walk into town, secure parking. Would highly recommend.
Review 36:The wifi password just did not work.
Review 37:The place to ourselves. The convenience of all accommodation was first class. Couldn't wish for nicer hosts. Would visit every time I visit St. Omer.Breakfast is so good you have to give it 1 hour.
Review 38:Check in not until 6pm
Review 39:Lovely garden and house set behind large wooden gates. Secure parking. We didn't have time for breakfast but wish we had. Bed delightfully comfortable
Review 40:We had to go home - it was the highlight of our holiday.
Review 41:Everything! An absolute gem! Nothing prepared us for what was behind the simple wooden gates - a wonderful garden and a truly outstanding house. Superb breakfast and fabulous hosts.
Review 42:The hardest part is finding the place but it is worth it. Also leaving was hard.
Review 43:Everything. The house, garden and especially the owners. This is not an average b&b. Breakfast was plentiful.
Review 44:Personal attention from lovely owners. We feel like we've made a new family friend as well as discovering a fabulous place to break our journey to places further south. We'd love to stay again and make St Omer our destination for a longer break.
Review 45:There was nothing to dislike.
Review 46:Perfect peace yet close to the town centre. Friendly owners who do all they can to make you feel at home. Large breakfast after a perfect nights sleep and a man sized shower.
Review 47:The owners were very keen to make our stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. The breakfast table overlooked their huge lovely walled garden, complete with a couple of wandering hens! The superking bed was exceptionally comfortable and the sitting area with armchairs and kettle/coffee/tea etc was a bonus, as was the off-road parking.
Review 48:The owners are a lovely couple, so helpful, kind and welcoming (even although we were quite late to arrive). The accommodation was superb and of the highest standard. Breakfast was lovely. A pleasure to stay there.
Review 49:It was difficult to find - the property doesn't have any signs that mark it out as a B&B. Perhaps some clear directions / map with the booking confirmation / email would be useful.
Review 50:Don't be put off by the gate or the fact that it is difficult to find. Behind those gates you will find a little gem. The hosts’ welcome was warm and friendly. They were extremely helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Secure parking. Quiet location. Short walk to the centre of town and some very good restaurants.
