Reviews for Parador de Siguenza

Review 1:Although most staff were friendly and helpful the person who was there when we checked in made us feel as if we were going through customs. No 'Welcome', just 'passports.' No 'hope you enjoy your stay' just 'room 134.' You expect a little more from a 4 star hotel.

Review 2:The location. The restaurant.

Review 3:The lack of transportation from the train station. We arrived, no taxies or hotel connection. A friendly local volunteered to drive us up. The same experience happened when we walked into town and stood by a taxi stand and another local stopped and said, "you wont get a taxi here, they don' t stop." He gave us a lift to the castle.

Review 4:Staying in a historical building in a quaint town was magical. The staff was helpful and on the ball. Unbelievable. Food was great. Have no complaints. Also never have had so many amenities in the bath. Couldn't get over it. Made us feel extra special.

Review 5:Cafeteria doesn't serve food in the evening until 20:30h, so with small kids you should plan ahead.

Review 6:Nice, spacious rooms, and generous breakfast buffet.

Review 7:I wanted a late bath but was unable to as the water wasn't warm enough.

Review 8:The surroundings, the car park, the dining experience and the friendly staff.

Review 9:As with all Paradors that we have visited the building and the setting are magnificent. They are wonderful places to stay. We arrived on motorbikes and the combination of steep hills, tight blind turns, narrow roads and smooth cobbles were quite a challenge, But worth it.

Review 10:We take at least 2 major holidays a year - one of them is always in rural Spain. Have never met such grumpy and disinterested reception staff! Also our room was at the far end of the castle although it was not full. The same happened to other guests. Lots of noise from cleaners and the plumbing.

Review 11:Great location. Excellent traditional atmosphere. Wonderful room although view was over the country side at the back and we had hoped to see the town side as we were on top of the hill. Breakfast was truly excellent with copious buffet. .

Review 12:It would be nice if some staff spoke a little more English, but that is only a tiny, weeny complaint and not really a complaint as such!!! The staff were lovely - everything was great!

Review 13:Fantastic castle - it has a proper "wow factor". As we drove up to it all four of us were going "wow" ...."oh wow"!!!!!! Beautiful rooms. Helpful staff. Great rooms. Lovely little town. Fabulous restaurant with great food. Amazing breakfast. Particular note goes to Raphael on reception and Angela in the restaurant - a couple of really lovely, helpful, friendly staff who made us feel really at home. Nothing was too much trouble. We have already recommended this wonderful hotel to friends and we hope to visit again!

Review 14:The bathroom is a bit dated. There did not appear to be other restaurants nearby (or they were closed for the month).

Review 15:Staying in a magnificent and romantic Moorish castle. The food was delicious, if pricey. Spacious room.

Review 16:Breakfast is excellent. The castle is impressive and the town is beautiful and classically medieval. Plus you can get to Madrid airport in under 90 minutes by car.

Review 17:The staff were friendly and we were given an interesting tour of the parador. The room had a lovely view and was spacious, comfortable and clean. The bed was very comfortable and the air conditioning was very welcome.

Review 18:Not bad but it would have been nice for the staff to have explained about the historic parts of the castle off limits to the public but accessible for guests. Even a simple page or leaflet will do. We didn't realise until leaving that there were Chapels etc. We could have seen.

Review 19:The location and quality of the rooms. How often do you get to stay in a castle? Check in was very slick. Beautiful setting.

Review 20:It was a fabulous experience staying in a castle! Our room was gorgeous, huge, and had a wonderful view. The staff were helpful and friendly and the food was good.

Review 21:The dinner at the parador was very expensive and the food quality did not match those prices. Plus the wait staff was sub par if not on the rude side.

Review 22:Very fun to stay in a castle in such a beautiful location and town away from a major city.

Review 23:A little difficult to find in all the narrow allyways. Evening meal was average, we've had worse though.

Review 24:Really nice hotel. The room was spacious. The bathroom was clean.

Review 25:uncomfortable chairs in the bar

Review 26:Mightily impressive building; beautifully restored interesting building; great breakfast; stunning courtyard; spacious rooms; free parking on site; short walk to town

Review 27:The beds were not particularly comfortable and the guest rooms themselves didn't echo the feel of the castle. Also, the food is not good. With such a gorgeous location, this place deserves a chef who is passionate about food. Instead, it felt as though the food was prepared by cafeteria staff.

Review 28:We loved the location, the view and being able to explore the beautiful grounds.

Review 29:Nothing to dislike for us.

Review 30:We are on a motorbike trip around Spain and when we arrive at a hotel this can sometimes colour the way we are initially greeted. At this Parador we were treated as very welcome guests and our dear old Harley was given pride of place in the parking area : ) Our room was magnificent though only a standard room. The whole place has an air of grandeur yet very welcoming.

Review 31:The Parador is in a restored 13th century castle and the town of Sequenza is picturesque. The castle is very quiet and the piped in classical music was very relaxing.

Review 32:Long walk to room for a person using crutches as unfortunately I was, Would recommend signs from upper floors to reception! We were lost at one point.

Review 33:Spotless , comfortable room, room service very good, caring service when my husband unwell.Despite this we enjoyed the comfortable historic experience and would recommend this Paradors.

Review 34:Having been rebuilt around 50 years ago, the castle is as it would have been when it was originally built - except of course for the power, water, aircon, modern kitchens, lifts etc. This makes it feel unreal, maybe a little Disney-like, but at the same time it was an excellent one-nighter with superb restaurants in town.

Review 35:Entire castle was converted to a hotel, so once you walk in, the experience starts to suffer. Rooms are plain "parador" decorations and are in need of refresh. The first room we were assigned smelled like a dead animal. I went down to the desk and explained, but they needed to "see".. they sent a maid with a spray bottle, who upon arrival, understood that we needed a new room. We were given the keys to move to a new room in a different section of the hotel, but were offered no help. In fact, I don't think this hotel has help.. you have to carry your luggage up a 10 step front staircase before entry into the hotel with no alternatives available. (Perhaps for those with walking disabilities, you could ask if you can drive into the center of the castle and up to the inside lobby door.) Castle had potential but was disappointing. Bar staff did not speak English. Food disappointing.

Review 36:The Castle itself is awesome from the outside. Public common areas are decorated nicely. Did not make it into town, but was told that was the thing to do. (Everything was closed on the day we were there.)

Review 37:Breakfast was a little limited- not as much variety as other paradors I have used

Review 38:Beautiful restored castle- a great place to stay-helpful staff. Excellent restaurant and bar. Easy walk into town

Review 39:Stressed out and rude staff, at the cafeteria, breakfast, just about anywhere. Anything is no and everything becomes easily a problem. Obvious they are most unhappy. Corridor floors covered in fluff, bedrooms with plenty of dust after cleaning and they lost my daughter's 25cm toy, which we left behind in the bedroom but realised 2h after we left. Rude manager as well. Never go there

Review 40:Due to the location you are restricted to eating in the Hotel restaurant which doesn't open for dinner until 8.30pm. There are one or two local restaurants but they weren't open the day we visited.

Review 41:Fabulous building, oozing character and charm. Wonderful breakfast. I would visit this hotel again.

Review 42:Breakfast was a bit expensive for what was provided. A minor issue over all.

Review 43:The hotel is amazing and we will remember our stay here. The staff were friendly and helpfull and the room was large and comfortable. Heaps of parking available. The hotel is the highlight of our stay in Siguenza.

Review 44:The dinner in the restaurant was not very good and the staff generally in the Parador could use some customer training

Review 45:The Parador is spectacular and in a good and quite convenient setting.

Review 46:The wifi was not that great, maybe because of the very solid constructions from medieval times. They could organize the parking area a little better.

Review 47:The room was excellent; the breakfast compatible to the stars the Parador holds. Some of the staff could speak English.

Review 48:Minot problem which could have had serious consequences, there was broken glass on the bathroom floor. When it was noticed on the questionnaire next morning, staff extremely apologetic.

Review 49:The Parador is in a former castle set overlooking the valley, stunning views from restaurant terrace . Staff pleasant and helpful. Enjoy a drink in the castle courtyard!

Review 50:Staff, unfortunately, is not up to the level of hotel itself. They always seem tired and dissatisfied, and translate it to their guests. Not the best feeling. But heck, it doesn't spoil the overall awe much. For longer trips from Parador, even for a dinner out, you'd probably need a car since Parador is at the top of a steepish hill, and walking back uphill after dinner might not be your favorite pastime.

Review 51:Amazing ancient castle on top of the hill. Magnificent views, exquisite interior, amazingly cozy chillout rooms (especially one with a small library and PC on the 3d floor), thoughtful decor.

Review 52:Less good value for food for my picky teenager - a few generic options (pasta, burger, chips etc) would have been welcomed. Don't take the breakfast option - you'll find something probably much better and definitely much cheaper down in the town.

Review 53:The staff were very friendly and accommodating, the location is fabulous and the rooms just what we expected from a 12th century castle. - also great views, very comfortable and nice size . I had a lovely meal from the set menu.

Review 54:There should be more write up for an English speaking visitors about the castle history and other sites. In addition to the stair case at the entrance of the hotel, there should be a ramp at entrance as well!

Review 55:The 12th Century castle within a walking distance to town.

Review 56:This is our favorite Parador. It's amazing and you really feel like you've gone back in time while at the same time enjoying all of the modern conveniences of top rated hotel. Food was exceptional, the village is clean and beautiful. We loved staying in Seguenza!

Review 57:if you are not self drive to the hotel, please consider how to take your bagage via the steep path to hotel...

Review 58:it's a good place, good staffs. They provide me a quite room according to my requirement.

Review 59:Every thing

Review 60:Local surroundings and the staff were not very warm

Review 61:Wow factor

Review 62:It didn't seem like value for money, breakfast was expensive and staff weren't very friendly

Review 63:The site and building are very special

Review 64:Everything was OK

Review 65:A luxurious hotel set in a castle set atop a mediaeval town. Staying here is a wonderful experience.

Review 66:The renovation is starting to show signs of wear and tear.

Review 67:Exceptional property restored respectfully. Great views at the top of the old town.

Review 68:Staff appeared a little disinterested.

Review 69:Fantastic location, superb room, wonderful experience. We will be back!

Review 70:Price is a bit expensive compared to service offered.

Review 71:Location, food, style...

Review 72:Nothing - it was lovely. Pool would have been nice.

Review 73:Building beautiful.

Review 74:The food at this parador was excellent, and the facility is beautiful.

Review 75:Main course of half board evening meal. Rest of meal Good

Review 76:Setting, bedroom and friendly staff

Review 77:Location, type of hotel, staying in a castle was a dream

Review 78:Access not good for Disabled

Review 79:Perfect situation

Review 80:The room was very comfortable, and the setting is stunning

Review 81:Fantastic view from our balcony. Lovely room and stunning bathroom. Great setting.

Review 82:The building and atmosphere

Review 83:Quiet, comfortable beds, cool breezes and quaint towns to visit near by. Breakfast was great with variety and gluten free options!

Review 84:EVERYTHING - simply outstanding

Review 85:In contrast with the good breakfast, our dinner was average to poor and rather expensive for the quality.

Review 86:The castle atmosphere was great.

Review 87:The breakfast was a bit expensive. We didn´t get it.

Review 88:The grounds were so beautiful. We loved the antique feel.

Review 89:Nothing ,the place is old and very interisting

Review 90:Siguenza is a town with a lot of history found the wknd very good

Review 91:restaurant didn't start the evening meal until 8:30pm, too late for us as we then cant sleep!

Review 92:nice and warm on a cold March day

Review 93:The location is impressive. So beutiful.

Review 94:everything was perfect.

Review 95:this was a beautiful place. It was tastefully decorated with antiques. we had a delightful room with a lovely balcony.

Review 96:Nothing!

Review 97:Wonderful historical building in beautiful location above quiet and attractive small town.

Review 98:Non standard place to stay, one of the best Parador's we stayed in. Beautiful building and view.

Review 99:Wonderful location, great rooms, clean and comfortable.

Review 100:Great lively village on weekends with some very good restaurants

Review 101:Guy on front desk was not very helpful

Review 102:Location and Building

Review 103:where else would you be able to stay in a magnificent restored arab palace ?

Review 104:False labeling

Review 105:The castle

Review 106:nothing

Review 107:location rooms the hotel itself the surrounding village views food staff comfort and cleanliness

Review 108:no tea/coffer facilities in room but fairly normal for Spain

Review 109:fabulous building with grand rooms and sympathetic restoration Unique location

Review 110:Not a very interesting town.

Review 111:Fantastic castle. One of the best paradors we have been to.

Review 112:The restaurant was poor. Staff good but the menu was inadequate and over priced and therefore dining room empty. Why don't they realise they have to compete with some very good local restaurants. With this menu it was difficult to put together a healthy balanced meal. Only form of potatoes offered were chips that hardly equalled MacDONALDS.

Review 113:Situation, space, town, the building itself has been very sympathetically restored.

Review 114:No help with the luggage between the car and registration desk. The streets into town were very steep, but what do you expect from a hilltop castle.

Review 115:Who wouldn't want to stay in a comfortably castle in Spain? If you have the chance to stay in a place that other people come to visit, consider yourself to be privileged. The dining room, bar, and atmosphere were excellent.

Review 116:Be careful what room you get - some of the external rooms have very small windows and very bad wifi

Review 117:the castle-on-the-hill like building the monumental lounge and dining room - the "comedor"

Review 118:Well we were really disappointed with the night we spent at this hotel. When first arriving after a long drive we were put next to a room full of screaming children (the hotel was half full), we asked to be moved and we got another room, unfortunately the hotel was full of young children who treated as a playground with parents not caring at all for other people's relaxation, it spoilt the whole night. Furthermore we had a sleepless night due to the fact that the children above our room didn't stop shouting until 2am, and then again 6am!

Review 119:The castle was something like it was set in a movie, truly fantastic. The food was fairly nice for a parador but the food was only lukewarm. Good quality rooms, nice internal gardens, helpful staff.

Review 120:Expensive dinning and not tasting;nearby restaurants closed on Mon- Wed.

Review 121:Good environment and free parking;maintain nostalgia atmosphere. Catherdal worth to visit

Review 122:The reception staff weren't very receptive. The breakfast was so expensive (16€ per person?!) - I cannot believe many people go for that, but nearby there aren't many alternatives.

Review 123:One of the most impressive places I've ever stayed. We got a good price through booking.com. Easy to find, easy to park, perfect situation.

Review 124:Simply a beautifully medieval renovated hilltop castle with a finedining room and all the facilities one could want. Of particular notewas the fact that we stayed there on a Sunday night, and the room ratewas a paltry €85, iva included.

The Fine Print
