Reviews for Hotel Renaissance
Review 1:The hotel is full of the proprietors eclectic collections from around the world. Each room is charming and has something different to admire. Although in the center the rooms were very quiet so we slept very well. Friendly helpful staff and the restaurant recommendations were spot on. Very comfortable bar.
Review 2:We arrived when the temperature was very low for the time of year and found the hotel very cold. Could have done with the heating on.
Review 3:Great hotel with very helpful and friendly staff. Reception reccomended (and booked) two restaurants for us ...... both were excellent. Very original rooms (senior suite) , comfortable but perhaps a bit cluttered ...... beware Cherubs everywhere!
Review 4:If I have to be really picky in this lovely place, there were no dressing gowns in the room and only a thin blanket to use on one very cold night
Review 5:The location ànd helpfulness of the young male receptionist
Review 6:Couldn't make the wifi work, but then should have asked the hotel staff I guess! We only stayed one night....
Review 7:Friendly people, funky cool hotel! Would recommend!
Review 8:Superbly furnished historical suite. Immaculately clean. Amazing fittings, including the crystal chandelier and drapes. Exceptionally comfortable bed.
Review 9:Breakfast was 12 euros each, which we found to be very expensive, but there was a good selection, so we can't complain.
Review 10:We enjoyed our stay here, and were comfortable for the night, and it was neat to poke around at the interestingly odd decorations... The room seemed a little cramped with all of the decorations, but it was ok for a night. WiFi worked well.
Review 11:I felt that the beautiful art deco tea set supplied was too precious to use.
Review 12:Whacky and interesting hotel in the heart of the old city. Very welcoming and helpful hosts.
Review 13:No negatives whatsoever.
Review 14:Being on a short 24 hour rugby trip, we didn't actually get to use the hotel very much as we were mostly out on the town. However, from what I do remember, Michel and his team were superb hosts and I will most likely return with the family and make the most of this very different (in a nice way) hotel. The breakfast spread in the morning was perfect!
Review 15:Wi fi did not seem strong enough to provide a constant signal. A minor frustration however.
Review 16:Friendliness of the hotel proprietor. Central location. Continental breakfast. The Renaissance themed decor of the hotel and its overall comfort.
Review 17:It's a shame it didn't have its own restaurant. Breakfast however was very good and the coffee blows your socks off !
Review 18:We were made to feel very welcome - nothing was too much trouble. The location is central making it very easy to walk to all the attractions
Review 19:Car was scratched whilst using the valet parking facility. Small room offering very little space to put away or hang clothing.
Review 20:Excellent location, very central and Castre is lovely. The manager is friendly and very helpful. Excellent breakfast.
Review 21:What a charming and interesting place. Developed over a number of years the décor is so quaint and full of character. The room was comfortable, quiet, well-appointed and clean. Each room has its own theme. The proprietor is very friendly and helpful, willing to book restaurants for you and suggesting places to go. We opted for them to take the car and park it for us as there did not seem to be parking nearby. Just a short walk to the main central square in the town with bars and restaurants this is perfectly placed and I would thoroughly recommend it.
Review 22:charm and individual rooms. not the normal hotel.. full of interesting bits ! and antiques. A real experience.
Review 23:Fabulous family run hotel. Warm welcoming environment & staff. Great location. Excellent wifi. Helpful owners.
Review 24:Great service and excellent rooms and decor.
Review 25:Beautiful surroundings in lobby and breakfast room
Review 26:Nothing
Review 27:Friendly hotel with lots of character and charm and close to the centre of Castre. Our room was lovely.
Review 28:Everything
Review 29:Charming, rather quaint decor, good breakfast, pleasant, helpful staff.
Review 30:The staff. Location. Decor.
Review 31:Charming, good location
Review 32:Location, Hotel Lobby and general ambience...
Review 33:Sort of prissy with too many gee-gaws
Review 34:Nicel clean, central place, manager helpful
Review 35:Nothing.
Review 36:Friendly and helpful owner and staff.
Review 37:Absence of insulation, cigarettes smoke from neighboring rooms,
Review 38:Nice atmosphere, good breakfast, quick check-in, specific old furniture & things of room.
Review 39:Nothing at all! :-) - only problem: we had to leave at some point!!
Review 40:Everything, staff particularly, great service, great indoors, amazing quality of music, real music lover, etc.
Review 41:Our only real dislike was the smell , of what can only be described as sickly "sweet" cheap perfume, which pervaded the whole hotel, including our room. It was so strong and really off putting , to the point we felt a little ill.
Review 42:Great deal of time, effort & probably money, spent on making this hotel the way it is. Rooms were fine and as another review said, very unique ! I don't know how they would manage to keep the dust off things though...
Review 43:Uniqueness of the hotel was very nice. Staff very helpful and accommodating. Very comfortable. Would go back again to this hotel and would recommend highly to anyone
Review 44:It is a shame that there is no evening dinner option. Although the host can recommend some excellent restaurants, it would be nice to be able to stay in the hotel. However, that is the only minor criticism of a superb hotel.
Review 45:The charm of the old building right in the centre of the town. The size of the rooms, and the decor and ambience of the whole hotel. The host was charming and could not have been more friendly and helpful. Breakfast was superb.
Review 46:Parking and access are an issue (old narrow city streets). No restaurant, but good advice on local alternatives.
Review 47:Full of character; individually themed rooms, well equipped and comfortable. Lovely location right in the middle of this charming old town.
Review 48:Nothing it was all fantastic
Review 49:Super hotel staff fantastic sat in bar enjoying a drink and electricity went off it was brilliant, but not for hotel staff but they run round making sure all the quest were ok even re booked restaurants, we had a bottle of champagne on the house..the hotel is like stepping back in time so interesting..magic.
Review 50:Is this a curse of French hotels - free WiFi that did not work in bedrooms?
Review 51:A gem - beautifully and imaginatively furnished in the heart of the city of Castres. The hotel demonstrates the benefits of the 'hands-on' owner supported by excellent staff. A superior double was spacious and tasteful. Care of guests through an eight hour power cut was exemplary. Splendid breakfast.
Review 52:The hotel does not have a restaurant or parking because of its position in the old town. Although there are free on street parking facilities within a short distance it is almost necessary to pay for the valet parking. It was well worth the fee not to have to worry ablout the car.
Review 53:The unusual nature of the decoration, the very helpful owners who went out of their way to arrange restaurants within walking distance and to arrange the parking of the car.
Review 54:The kind of green light in the lounge, unnecessary and a bit annoying when facing it.
Review 55:We stayed only one night and I wish we could stay longer. Staff was very friendly and hotel was lovely right in the center of Castres. We had a great deal online for Eur69. We didn't take breakfast in the hotel as we wanted a lie in but we used the lounge and the wine was fabulous.we will come back for sure.
Review 56:Decor was not to my taste but fitted the age of the building. Difficult to find by car but valet parking once you arrive.
Review 57:Good position near the town centre but in quiet street. Great Saturday market.
Review 58:Mattress/bed base was terrible, sunk in the middle, we keptfinding ourselves in the middle of it during the night. Staff was notvery friendly, made it clear that since we had booked the promotionaldouble room we were not getting a big room (we didn't thinkpromotion involves a deformed mattress/bed base). When we calledto say we were not going to be back at the hotel before 11pm (theirclosing time) they were not happy and were rude when he got back at1.30 in the morning.
Review 59:The ac was perfectly functioning and we took great advantage of it sinceit was extremely hot outside.
Review 60:Air conditioning faulty-they knew it yet still gave us the room. Only one towel, no soap. Poorly maintained, run down
Review 61:Right in the centre of the old town. Access is challenging in a car but they park it for you. Quirky hotel.
Review 62:Our classic room was very small and smelt of stale smoke. Bathtub/shower was difficult to climb in and out of.
Review 63:It's central and warm. Owners have tried to do something different.
Review 64:The town in winter closes down almost completely on Sunday. Only way toget breakfast was to have it in the hotel and this seemed quiteexpensive at 12 euro although it was a very good buffet.
Review 65:The hotel is a one-off with each room having a different theme. Thelocation was excellent as it was just off the main square and only a 20minute walk from Castres Rugby Ground and 12 minutes from the railwaystation. The food market on Saturday morning was amazing.

Review 75:The entire experience was perfect!!!
Review 76:Centre of town close to all shops and the square. Very cosy and homely bar area with a real log fire.
Review 77:No electricity for 10 hours in the town typical French nonsense so ruined trip as nothing open
Review 78:Bathroom could be a bit cleaner
Review 79:Rooms were very nicely decorated Good breakfast Friendly staff
Review 80:not too clean
