Reviews for La Maison d'Emilie
Review 1:Nothing to dislike. Friendly owner, lovely room with fantastic bathroom, easy to find and very central to Houlgate. Lovely.
Review 2:Great room with a really lovely bathroom. Taker breakfast at the hotel as it's generously served in a beautifully adorned room full of old tapestries. If we stay in the Houlgate area again we will definitely be staying here.
Review 3:The hotel was located in a quiet street, and had loads of character with period details and was superbly decorated. Jean-Marie the host was very helpful and helped us choose a fantastic restaurant nearby. Overall I can't fault anything about this hidden gem and would recommend it for anyone visiting Houlgate.
Review 4:Not a problem to us but not suitable for those who cannot manage steps and stairs
Review 5:It is a beautiful house with many original features including hand painted murals on the dining room walls and period chandeliers. The owners made us feel welcome and spoke in English. It is very close to everything you need - beach town and restaurants. Our room had a wet-room for the shower which was circular in one of the towers
Review 6:None
Review 7:Very near the beach Nice village Good restaurants Friendly staff
Review 8:As we arrived later than planned the owner was excellent and we got a lot more hospitality than we expected, which was superb after an extremely long day! Merci beau coup Monsieur .
Review 9:That our time here was too short...
Review 10:This is a fantastic bed and breakfast! I cannot recommend it enough. This hotel situated in a beautiful villa is wonderfully restored/renovated with great attention to detail. My favorite room is the dining room with a four wall tapestry depicting life in the French countryside. The hotelier was unforgettably welcoming and generous. For example, we arrived late in Houlgate from Paris and all the restaurants were closed, so the hotelier prepared a small meal so that we wouldn't go to bed hungry. Overall, we had a very warm, inviting feeling during our stay. Great location!! We woke up early and took a beautiful walk around the city and along the beach. The beach is so close that we fell asleep to the sound of the ocean waves. We are certainly looking forward to staying here again. Until next time...
Review 11:Somewhat pricey given the lack of facilities. Better described as a "B&B" as opposed to an"Hotel". (No lounge, and no bar, and no coffee/tea making facilities in the room). The breakfast was overpriced at Euro 8.50 for coffee, a couple of slices of bread and a croissant and jam. We felt it should have included yogurt, cold meats and cheeses. We were offered no help with our suitcases (perhaps just an oversight) - and our room was located on the 3rd floor!
Review 12:A delightful proprietor; very friendly and helpful. Very close to amenities and the seaside. Our bed was comfy and there were wi-fi facilities and a TV. The building itself is of architectural interest. Parking outside was no problem (April), but I'd recommend booking a space in summer months.
Review 13:We had breakfast every morning but it was only a selection of breads
Review 14:The owner knew we could not speak much French he always spoke to us in English
Review 15:Breakfast wasn't best value although it was sufficient.
Review 16:Warm welcome and nice staff. Rooms finished to high standard and very clean throughout.
Review 17:Basic breakfast - Bread & Jam
Review 18:Friendly welcome. Lovely shower room.
