Reviews for Hotel Mandarina Grasse

Review 1:No air condition it was too hot in July but they gave us a fan that helped a lot

Review 2:charming old monastery but fully and beautifully renovated ,nice spacius interiors, spacius room, very comfortable beds, large bath, all very clean, georgius view from our balcony (it that was very small we could not sit out but we did not care).the best is the terrace with a marvellous view of Grasse and the sea and Cannes.Breakfast very good in a beautifull terrace.Good value for money.Highly recomended.

Review 3:No air conditioned and room very hot ! need to ask for fan they dontgive your if u dont ask! But still room very hot ! unpolite staff !after 9pm they close it all even bar ! not even for a drink, allpersonell of hotel disapears at 9pm !! and they are unpolite no wifi !!only ground floor expensive poor breakfast need to walk lots of stairsto center of town

Review 4:Great room sea view even if 10 euro pay parking but its usefull andconfortable

Review 5:There is no parking available on sight due to the location. Paid public parking was 600m down the hill making it a long hot climb back from the town after dinner.

Review 6:This is an interesting hotel set high above the town with a magnificent view over the historical valley. The ton of Grasses is historic and interesting.

Review 7:The only problem (not for me) is the location of the hotel. It is located at the top of the hill. That is why you have a beautifull view of Grasse and you can see the sea. It takes only 10 minutes walking from the center of the city.

Review 8:People who works at the hotel. They are very very very kind persons always concerning about the needs of costumers. They take me to the bus station for free. I was in a hurry and I didn't miss my bus to go to Nice. I recommend strongly this hotel.

Review 9:Few 100 metres from centre. But not a big problem.

Review 10:Clean cheap and generally OK. Not special but more than adequate and a good night's sleep. We were hiking gr4 and staff very helpful arranging lift to trail head.

Review 11:I wish there was laundry facility in the hotel premises.

Review 12:The staff was very friendly.bathrooms and room were clean and neat with daily new set of washed cleaned towels .

Review 13:It is a very poor location. At least a ten minute very unpleasant walk to the nearest eating place ( the majority of the walk is along a winding heavily trafficked narrow road with no official footpath). It is unfortunate because Mandarina is quite a pleasant stay.

Review 14:View from the room and the breakfast terrace. One male staff member was exceptionally helpful, carrying our baggage, giving tips on Grasse, making sure everything was ok

Review 15:No pool. Wifi only in the common areas. Grasse as a city itself is not very nice so I wouldn't go back. Too bad bc the hotel was ok.

Review 16:The people were very nice. The hotel room was good for 1-2 night stay for cheap. It had parking on premises.

Review 17:Small room. Plug in basin didn't work. No food available in the evening either at the hotel or nearby.

Review 18:Wonderful terrace. Photo doesn't do it justice. Comfortable bed. Good service. Bar

Review 19:No A/C, rooms small and unimpressive, internet tends to only work out on the terrace, but works pretty good. Room was a bit smelly when I first arrived but opening the windows onto the tiny balcony aired it out quickly.

Review 20:At first I thought it felt like more of a hostel than a hotel. The room was small, cramped even, and lacked any appreciable style. HOWEVER, in my only one day and night there I have to say the place seriously grew on me, and I wish I had stayed a bit longer. You are up in the mountains above Grasse, a wonderful little village, with a terrace that overlooks the valley below. It is wonderfully peaceful and serene up there, both day and night. The staff did what they could to genuinely try to make your stay a nice one. The breakfast was good. There was no A/C in the room so I slept with the window wide open - no mosquitoes - and I slept great. The next morning I enjoyed a very nice breakfast on the terrace again while I used the internet at my table. I was only there for one night, but I could see myself going back. Good value for the money. Also they did all my laundry for 15 Euros total.

Review 21:Absolutely fantastic hotel. The building is a former monastery sodon't expect modern conveniences like an elevator or fast internetspeed. The staff is friendly and speaks good English. There are bussesjust minutes from the hotel, near the Office de Tourismo that will takeyou to Nice or Cannes for just 1.50 Euros per person. All rooms arefacing the mountains so the view is gorgeous. Very unique hotel.

Review 22:This former church is not a five star hotel but comfortable, quiet and clean. The friendly staff can provide an excellent optional breakfast which can be enjoyed overlooking Grasse and The Mediterranean.

Review 23:No Bar and restaurant. Parking was a little tight.

Review 24:Loved the view of Grasse from the Hotel. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly.

Review 25:Curtains falling off. Shower door falling off hinge. Power sockets not secure. The hotel needs maintenance. Staff very pleasant though.

Review 26:The view

Review 27:Wifi coverage only in the dining area.

Review 28:Good position to walk into Grasse old Town.

Review 29:View from the rooms was spectacular, good value for money

Review 30:Parking a bit scarey

Review 31:Very helpful staff and fabulous views, handy to old town and perfumeries

Review 32:not air conditioning (but I did get a fan) and not WIFI in rooms- I did not find any food real close

Review 33:Location and view

Review 34:Walk back from city centre

Review 35:Good location above Grasse, direct but steep route down (and back up) via lots of steps to town centre

Review 36:unfortunately the bathroom was far from clean

Review 37:the view

Review 38:The pillows were too fat for our comfort.

Review 39:Our room had a lovely view of Grasse and beyond. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Review 40:No wifi in the rooms,

Review 41:View

Review 42:Great!

Review 43:Long Walk into Town for Evening Meal

Review 44:Breakfast Choice, Panoramic Views

Review 45:The parking situation is terrible and the elevator was out of service.

Review 46:Very friendly staff!!!!!! Awesome view.

Review 47:It's sad, lift broken, dirty carpet, installations crying for a make over.

Review 48:The best is the view from the hotel.

Review 49:We had a room at the top of the hotel, which was great for the view but a pain to get luggage up from the car as the car park is below the hotel itself- This hotel is definitely NOT for anyone with walking difficulties !!!!

Review 50:The location was the main reason for staying here, easy walking distance from the town centre to visit the perfume houses plus it was directly on our route to the Gorges du Verdun, higher in the Alpes Maritimes.

Review 51:We arrived by night, it wasn't easy to find place to leave the car. Thisis the only point I would consider as "negative".

Review 52:Hotel is perfect and worth for the money.as we arrived by night staffleft us keys to the room at the reception.

Review 53:parking is not free

Review 54:it's up in the mountain - so great view up there. staff don't speak very good English but were nevertheless very friendly and helpful. room is spacious and very clean. a great place to stay if you have a car.

Review 55:When we arrived, we were told that there was an additional parkingcharge at the hotel of 15 Euros per day. The nearest public car park wasabout 500m away with a steep slope so we opted to park at the hotel. Itwas an additional cost which we had not anticipated.

Review 56:All the hotel bedrooms have fantastic views over Grasse down to thecoast at Cannes. Our room was large and comfortable with a balcony andthe bathroom was a good size and very modern.

Review 57:No A/C and a longer trek into town than was advertised and expected. The hotel staff also moved all cushions from seating around 10 PM when they wanted to go home.

Review 58:Good price and beautiful view off the terrace.

Review 59:Would have preferred some form of cooling system at night (air con or fan) as rooms were very hot at night (early Aug) and had to close all windows and balcony doors to prevent being bitten by mosquitos. Not recommended for those with walking difficulties as it's on top of a hill.

Review 60:Ideal for us as we were mainly out enjoying family wedding celebrations. Breakfast good. Really pleased there was a safe in the room to put passports and money.

Review 61:Statutory 15 Euro parking charge, surely this should be free tohotel guests?

Review 62:Good location above the old town, clean, excellent views, friendlystaff, good continental breakfast (gorgeous fresh juice and bean to cupcoffee....self-service so you can fill your boots!!) and a verycompetitive price.

Review 63:it's far from the town and on the hill. So if you go by foot, it will take you an hour to get back. if you go by car you pay for parking twice - in the town and in the hotel. If you go sightseeing choose a hotel in the centre.

Review 64:the room was good.

Review 65:We only saw a staff member once for our entire stay - checkin was donethrough an envelope left for us on the desk, and check out was donewithout anyone there to talk to. Our one interaction witha staff memberwas to query whether breakfast was actually 12 euros each - yep, itreally was - with four kids this would have cost us 72 euros!! Solution- buy food at supermarket and eat it on the lovely hotel terrace withtruly stunning views over Grasse and out to the coast.

Review 66:Location was excellent. Rooms were compact but comfortable. Beautifulvies from our room, and from the terrace. Free parking was good, butamazingly tight to get into and out of.

Review 67:We arrived at the hotel at 1.30pm to discover we couldn't check-in until2. This would've been fine, except the hotel was locked and there wasnowhere for us to keep our bags or sit out of the blazing hot sun. Whenthe staff did arrive after their lunch break, we were told we had towait another hour or two because the rooms weren't clean. When we finally checked in, the staff member on duty didn't speak English, German or Spanish which is unusual for someone working in tourism. The promised free wifi didn't work, when raised with staff, no attempts were made to assist us. The staff member on duty just shrugged. Finally, our room was baking hot and our toilet was missing its button to flush. If I'd paid full price for the room, I'd request a part refund. I will never stay here again.

Review 68:The view was incredible and the shower was strong.

Review 69:Be very careful with this hotel's pricing strategy! In Jan 2012, I paid a prepaid price of 82 euro/night for a double room which can't be cancelled. When I emailed this hotel to change my booking to a triple room, the price of triple room was merely 75 euro/night, and they didn't ask me to pay any more. When I checked out in April, they asked me to pay 6 euro/night more, and on the same day the triple room price was also 75 euro/night! I've emailed this hotel many times, but never appropiate response. So never do like me: pay 3 months in advance, but got a very bad price!

Review 70:The hotel is on the mountain so you can birdview the grasse town. The hotel has a good yard you can use in open air to rest or have breakfast.

Review 71:I liked nothing about my stay at the hotel. We had to telephone to gain access into the hotel. Parking was horrendous, as you could only drive in from one direction and on leaving you had no way of seeiing out onto the road. The sat.nav. coordinates were incorrect and sent us 45km. out of our way. To access the room we had to bend to walk down the corridor.

Review 72:They are still waiting for their liquour license as of this writing 5/2012, but the staff gave us a free bottle of wine as we arrived late and had no other options. The restaurant is only open for breakfast, but the staff can direct you to great options for lunch and dinner.

Review 73:The staff was excellent and went to great lengths to accomodate us. The location is excellent - great view over Grasse all the way to the airport in Cannes. Steps near the hotel take you down to the main square where the Perfume Museum is, the Fragonard Museum and the old historical and beautiful city.

Review 74:Car parking is very tight. The attitude of the front desk staff is horrible and they need to brush up on their customer relation skills. They act like they are doing you a favor just because they are speaking with you. The only difference was their night manager, Muhammad who was from Comfort Inn Eperney. He went out of his way to make sure that everything was in order.

Review 75:Location and the view from the hotel was great

Review 76:Given the location of the hotel there is little choice but to pay the 15euro per night car parking charge. The accomodation is good value the parking is not. Even the staff seemed embarassed by the price.

Review 77:staff extremely helpful. Breakfast very good. Good value clean, comfortable accomodation.

Review 78:Needs a remodel. But fantastic location anyway.

Review 79:Small bathroom, small bed

Review 80:Very nice Place and position, friendly staff.

Review 81:The service and welcome were very good, french charm to the unth degree!!

Review 82:Excellent view from our room

Review 83:lack of staff after 21 hours, staff not very well informed about the town

Review 84:nice view

Review 85:I liked the view from the hotel over the town of Grasse. It would be lovely place to stay in the summer- nice terraces to sit out on.
