Reviews for The Woodlands Hotel

Review 1:The fact that the rooms are directly above the bar and you could hear the jukebox never mind the karaoke that was on till 1am

Review 2:Staff were friendly but weren't honest about telling me karaoke was on in the first place and then that it didn't finish till 1am

Review 3:As a solo female (and shattered ) traveller the last thing I want is to have to walk into an public bar and check in with several men staring at me. The room was dismal and grubby with flickering lamps and a truly awful bed with ancient bedding , no mattress protector , an ancient mattress a broken headboard and a broken base. The bathroom shower cubicle was child aize and the whole set up was so depressing I left after an hour and booked another stay in Shipley

Review 4:The only saving grace for this place was the lovely female manager that greeted me

Review 5:Bit of a walk to and from the nearest bus station, but the countryside on the way is beautiful

Review 6:Very friendly staff, clean building and a great pub downstairs

Review 7:that hotel is not real a hotel. its a pub with rooms. no breakfast no sockets in bathroom very very noisy at weekend. like a disco. never a 3 star hotel.

Review 8:free wifi

Review 9:with only a few rooms in a pub some noise was expected however a wedding reception was booked that night so no sleep was gained till gone midnight. No mention of evening meals or breakfast and not been able to hand keys in as pub all locked up and had to use fire escape as leaving before 9am and landing floor alarmed.

Review 10:Bed was comfy

Review 11:I wasn't given any checkout instructions and ended up setting off an alarm and wandering around for 10 minutes (making me late for my meeting) trying to figure out where to give in my key as the main desk (read: bar) was closed.

Review 12:The room was clean and whilst not huge, big enough for just me. The wifi was fast and overall the stay was comfortable.

Review 13:Really friendly staff and locals both of which were most helpful. Entertainment for the night was first class. Loved the accent, very easy going people with exceptional manners.

Review 14:The floor boards in the room creaked every time you walked on them and not just in one spot but all over the room, they creaked so loud that you could even hear them from the next room when they walked as well. The carpet in the bedroom was marked with an iron and generally not very clean. The walls would have benefited from a lick of paint as they were also marked. The noise from music/karaoke/and customers went on until well past 1am with the music literally booming. For the price paid I would expect the rooms to be at least checked daily to see if we needed fresh towels or tea/coffee etc but no one went into the room. Unable to find any staff when we left at 11am and therefore had to leave via the fire exit, had anyone been available I would have discussed the above problems with them. While they may run a good pub they have a lot to learn about running the hotel side of the business.

Review 15:The food served in the pub was expensive for what it was but it was tasty.

Review 16:I stayed on karaoke night and it was very loud. Room was vibrating. Went on til midnight. Not good as I had to be up for 6am. Should have been informed about karaoke before I booked as I never would have booked

Review 17:Cozy

Review 18:No food service provided for guests as they had a wedding on which had a loud disco until the early hours

Review 19:Nice hotel tucked in the woodlands back water away from Bradfords industrial sites. Looked promising with home cooked food.

Review 20:Private party with loud disco music until 01:15 followed by much laughter and loud conversation until gone 03:00. Breakfast option no longer available to quote the member of staff "that shouldn't be on the website any more". Tiny TV. Location in a housing estate.

Review 21:Close to the M62/M606 motorway junction and 10 minutes from a Toby Carvery that did serve breakfast!

Review 22:On returning from dinner on the Saturday night we planned a few quiet drinks at the bar - but on arrival found a karaoke night in full swing. Not our scene so we retired to bed - while we could hear it going until midnight downstairs it wasn't loud enough to stop me from falling asleep (the bed must have been good!).

Review 23:Lots of British charm - just what I was looking for.

Review 24:Kitchen problems during my stay ruled out being fed either evening or breakfast. Staff did offer and did get me a takeaway meal. I stayed Saturday evening, so you had to like karaoke music. Good crown in bar all friendly but one or two very drunk and loud.

Review 25:Staff very friendly and helpful. Comfortable and clean. Price good.

Review 26:Restaurant not opening again until April 1st 2015 so no meals available. This is not clear in the adverts and represents a major disappointment as an on site restaurant was a major factor in booking. No breakfast offered either, presumably for the same reason.

Review 27:Room clean and comfortable. Wi Fi excellent. Quiet.

Review 28:Breakfast on Sunday finishes at 0900...We missed it. 10am would seem a more realistic time as other hotels we have stayed in do this

Review 29:Basic room but all you would need at hand

Review 30:Room was dirty bed were very noisy my cattle didn't work but been replaced with a big kitchen cattle. When I got in bed I start itching realy badly don't know what it was but it was bad experience.

Review 31:Staff was all ok location is great

Review 32:Close to the motorway, in a quiet location, good parking, friendly helpfull staff. Clean, comfortable room well finished. Overall a good stay at good value.

Review 33:excessively squeaking floor boards in every room, our shower didnt work very well, my bed linen had hair on it - i am sure it was clean and washed but hair stuck in the fibres, as it does but was a bit off putting

Review 34:it was handy for the reason we chose it, but not sure about its general location otherwise.the staff were very friendly, the food good and beds comfy, very friendly resident dog

Review 35:Lovely staff

Review 36:Squeaky floorboards and a very small unit in my room

Review 37:Staff and atmospheric great !!

Review 38:lovely location and pleasant staff

Review 39:Friendly and helpful staff. Hotel is in a quiet location in Bradford. Some rooms are above the bar area. Very pleasant for an overnight stay.

Review 40:they like pets in the bar not the rooms as we found out when we left from the cleaner with our 3 cats.

Review 41:food was great . good base . warm and cosy

Review 42:No breakfast as listed in in-house brochure. No hot water in shower, en-suite tight had to squeeze in door.

Review 43:Food good value for money

Review 65:Really friendly nothing to much trouble

Review 66:Friendly staff , easy acces , good parking , good wifi connection

Review 67:If you want quiet night for accommodation, this might not the good choice as the pub music is running till midnight..

Review 68:Friendly stuff..

Review 69:no bad experience.

Review 70:relaxed atmosphere.

Review 71:Checkout after 9.00am. No meals.

Review 72:The 5 rooms are above the pub. They run a party till 3am. We could not sleep.

Review 73:The toom is clean and tidy. We got a full refund.

Review 74:Noise from the floor,Very small shower

Review 75:View to the hills

Review 76:Nice friendly staff

Review 77:Creaky floor board in room

Review 78:Very friendly staff and great food

Review 79:Necessary once to access the upstairs floor by fire escape and twice activated security alarm unintentionally

Review 80:Friendly and courteous staff

Review 81:No food as advertised. Karaoke until 1am directly beneath us. Creaking floorboards the length of the hotel room.

Review 82:the staff were really friendly

Review 88:room all OK good breakfast

Review 89:Good food with a nice drink great locals.

Review 90:Neat and very clean the best hotel for the price I have stayed in in England

Review 91:Ideal location for Jet2 training centre

Review 92:Very friendly staff Food is excellent Rooms are value for money and very comfortable

Review 93:On the occasion we visited there were no real ales available.

Review 94:Friendly local. Nice country location on the outskirts of Bradford. Convenient for M62

Review 95:Room was not the best. Bedroom was in serious need of cleaning & upgrade

Review 96:Friendly and welcoming

Review 97:There was nothing during my stay that i did not appreciate.

Review 98:Made to feel welcome as soon as we arrived, food was no longer beinging served but they were happy for us to order food in. i think all in all i felt very relaxed and had an enjoyable evening and stay.

Review 99:Would have liked more choice of real ales and was concerned about leaving by fire door as there was no way back in if anything was forgotten but I wouldn't want to put anyone off from staying at this property and would certainly use again.

Review 100:Room was fine, menu was both excellent for price and variety.

Review 101:Karaoke on the Friday night was very noisy and stopped me sleeping until it closed at midnight.

Review 102:Friendly helpful staff. Nearness to Motorway. We were in Bradford for a family funeral so it was good to feel relaxed . Bedroom adequate for one night stay but bed a bit on the soft side for our liking. Loved the pub dog!

Review 103:Bed was a little bit on the small side. No shampoo in bathroom or hairdryer. Maybe some information provided when booking would help to organise to bring some along.

Review 104:Great location for what I needed. Staff all friendly.

Review 105:Only disadvantage likely to be having to use the fire escape to leave if you wish to leave early in the morning as the rest of the pub is still locked and alarmed. But I didn't need to leave early so not an issue for me.

Review 106:I liked the location, rural, but close to a major bus route should you need one to get to Dewsbury or Bradford city centre. Nice relaxed pub with friendly pub dog and locals. Decent menu, food served all day up to 8 p.m. Plenty of car parking space in the car park at the rear.

Review 107:Slight concern about being able to get back in after pub closing hours but I didn't put it to the test so it probably wasn't a problem.

Review 108:A very relaxed friendly atmosphere. You could order a takeaway meal later in the evening and are provided with crockery and cutlery by the landlord. The room was spotless and very comfortable with a nice bathroom. Loved the pub dog.

Review 109:Corridor lights shine in room all night! Door signage confusing I.e. car park via Toilet, Room access marked 'Private'. Exit via Fire escape!

Review 110:Learnt that the Campanile is the Better option!

Review 111:Getting locked out and having to get a taxi to the nearest Premier Inn and stay there for the night making for a very expensive nights stay. Was told if you would be back after 12:30 to ring the landlord. Rang and rang and texted but no response. When I went back for my stuff I was informed they should have left a door ajar; theydidn't

Review 112:Got a partial refund

Review 113:First time we have stayed in a hotel and had to make our own bed! Party downstairs was loud and beset by drunken behaviour. If you want to leave early AM its via a fire escape (no light). Not the greatest place we have stayed but it was cheap.

Review 114:Friendly, helpful staff

Review 115:Very friendly bar staff. The host Paul makes you welcome and the menu is good and value for money. A very friendly atmosphere in the bar and you are treated like a regular. Would not hesitate to stay again.
