Reviews for Logis Auberge des Aulnettes
Review 1:We booked twin room and we were given a double with no apology and just a shrug and take it or leave it approach when we mentioned this. But the worst was the paper thin walls we could not sleep for the noise from other rooms. The clientele were not noisy, but the plumbing was and you could hear every sneeze, cough not to mention the amorous goings on from every room. Also there is no air con in rooms
Review 2:View from bedroom of the garden
Review 3:The waiter could come across abrupt at times but it could be his manner , the toilet was broke in our room but we had adjoining room with our daughter so we got around that
Review 4:We had travelled around Europe and this was our last stop , the hotel was lovely and a short drive to houlgate the welcome was great and the room , the beach and festival in houlgate was fantastic and we ate in the hotel the first night which was good
Review 5:It would have been useful if the staff spoke more English (they spoke hardly any and our limited French is always very rusty on our first night away !) and some earlier food options would have been nice as dinner wasn't available til 7.15pm when the kids are normally in bed. Food was pretty average for the price too. Nice place though :)
Review 6:Loved the surroundings, ambience, room, lovely atmosphere, friendly staff
Review 7:The reception is closed 1500-1800 daily. So after schlepping 350 miles from Central France, with a car full of hungry kids, in the rain, we found ourselves unable to book in for 90 minutes. This fact should appear on any website taking bookings for the place. The restaurant is permanently closed, and almost certainly has been all season. I cannot see how this business will survive with its current management. The free wifi didn't work/ wasn't on. The "family room" was half of a cramped wooden chalet, with a tiny en-suite WC/ shower squeezed into a space smaller than a broom cupboard. I love my family, but I don't need to be able to hear every aspect of their washing and toileting with such clarity! Nor do I want to be able to hear even a hint of those things from the people staying in the next room. Ok, so we weren't paying too much, but it was something that we should have known in advance. We were staying overnight pending a Caen-Portsmouth ferry, so weren't expecting much and were leaving very early the next day - it is just about acceptable for this purpose, but I would look elsewhere next time.
Review 8:The chap who gave us the room key was friendly (but didn't speak a word of English. Fortunately I did, but given that the hotel's main business will be cross channel travellers this could be an issue. The town of Houlgate has some character, and the eclectic brick buildings seem to be built in a tasteful mix of Gothic revival and mock Tudor.
Review 9:nothing to not like.
Review 10:Very comfortable. Had family room - Good size. Very friendly and helpful owners. Lovely garden with thoughtful play pieces for kids. Beautiful building. Very clean. Pleanty of parking. great for our overnight stop over. Very reasonable price.
Review 11:Late check in (6-8 pm), not well lit after dark, too far out of town to walk for restaurants, chef was off sick so had to drive to town when had hoped for a couple of relaxing drinks and meal at the hotel on the last night of our holiday !
Review 12:We had a lodge in the garden with en suite shower room and toiletries, towels, play park useful,
Review 13:we had an excellent stay in the Auberge . The staff were very helpful - especially with our poor French . Food and drink selection selection were good. 10/ 10.

Review 16:fantastic location
Review 17:Not close to sea at all, have to drive to beach No wifi in room wash room small
Review 18:parking garden
Review 19:Room was small, tiny bathroom and a bit tired and worn. Room needed a spruce up and more comfortable bed
Review 20:Restaurant was great
Review 21:The setting is lovely - quiet and peaceful, with apple trees in blossomwhen we were there. The staff were kind and welcoming, the room simplebut impeccably clean and comfortable, and we had a very good eveningmeal and breakfast. We would certainly go back.
Review 22:The bathroom in our room was smaller than most closets! During the "arrangement making" I requested a room for three, and never heard anything to the contrary for that happening, but when we arrived I then had to pay for another room for our older child. The restaurant was very expensive.
Review 23:relaxed but attentive staff garden/countryside setting
Review 24:Family run, friendly, clean
