Reviews for Hôtel L'Arboisie

Review 1:The supervision and provision of cooked food at breakfast which should be better for a hotel of this standard

Review 2:the standard and cleanliness of the accomodation. the staff are young but helpful and we liked the hotel very much

Review 3:The furniture is somewhat tired.

Review 4:The staff, from reception to the chef to the maitre d'hôtel to the cleaning staff, each in their own time went out of his/her way to provide the highest level of service I've seen for a very long time.

Review 5:Know easy waking path into town. Would have liked to have walked with pram to town but road not a good option and the only path is not great for prams.

Review 6:Great views. Good room. Nice pool.

Review 7:The bar and breakfast were extremely expensive. The kitchenette's had no crockery, cutlery or pans! One or two members of staff very unhelpful (but not all) a shame not to have consistency here. Room was a little tired, but nicely furnished.

Review 8:Superb location and nicely decorated. The pool area was lovely and in the main the hotel is clean. Staff were inconsistent, ranging from very unhelpful to extremely helpful and friendly. Breakfast was good but expensive, and the evening meal ok. Bed was VERY comfy.

Review 9:Location not close to the downtown. Probably need a car.

Review 10:Very helpful staff, Free parking, Good for groups to stay together in one apartment. Two bathrooms in the suites & Self service for laundry.

Review 11:We booked a suite with kitchenette but no cutleries available. We needed a previous arrangement for 35€. They agreed not to charge for them at the end. Breakfast was poor quality for £18 for adult and £10 for child. Sauna not working and small pool for number of guests (more like a common bath)

Review 12:Great location, comfortable beds and clean

Review 13:Very nice location , wonderful views in the mountain but pretty average hotel, poor value for money. Busy spa , a bit dirty, tired pools , quite far from center ( not walking distance

Review 14:Location , view if you're lucky to have a view

Review 15:We had a small kitchenette, but it was not equipped with any crockery or cutlery. We requested it, & they brought it up immediately, but it would be more convenient to have it already in the room. Bed is a small double & quite hard. Restaurant is overpriced & not for kids. Could have a few more lounge chairs around the pool.

Review 16:The free wifi worked well everywhere in the hotel. The staff were lovely & ready to go the extra mile to help us. The swimming pool is great & a perfect temperature. The view & location of hotel is spectacular. We loved it!

Review 17:We had a self catering apartment, we were asked to pay 25E extra when we arrived for them to provide us with pots, pans and cutlery!!! They claimed they had rung us to discuss this but there is no evidence that this happened. Cleaners keen to get in every day at around 9 which was very intrusive. Resturant prices ridiculous

Review 18:Beautiful views of surrounding mountains, good indoor and outdoor pool facilities. Clean well kept accommodation

Review 19:My experience at the night, where the hotel does not have any HK services after 10 PM. For any kind of services or HK needs guest has to go down to the reception.

Review 20:The location, the great welcome which the lady at the reception gave me and my family during our arrival at early morning. She was very helpful and checked us 6 hours earlier with out any extra charge. In few minutes we were in the rooms.

Review 21:nothing

Review 22:everything, even the walk down to and up from town. The facilities- pools, sauna, jacuzzi and hammam are good but I guess we were able to enjoy these facilities as it was low season. I cannot imagine if the hotel were at full capacity. Though great, the facilities could accommodate a small group at a time.

Review 23:Stuff at the reception were trying our credit cards for 1 euro ... To make sure card works... I have never Seen it before ... After they made very unprofessional joke if we have enough money to pay for the room ....

Review 24:The hotel spa needs a revamp, the sauna didn't work on a couple of occasions and on another the hammam didn't work.

Review 25:Views, staff, restaurant, shuttle transfers

Review 26:Water in the room but only on the arrival night.

Review 27:We arrived on Valentines night with a hungry 10 year old, and despite the restaurant being booked, the manager managed to squeeze us in! The staff at this hotel cannot do enough to help out, to make your holiday stress free.

Review 28:The bad was a bit hard and it would have been helpful to have some basic cutlery and plates in the room.

Review 29:The staff were al very helpful, especially the drivers back and forth to the mountain. We were very pleased with the room, it was spacious and quite well equiped. The views were incredible.

Review 30:Some of the common areas could do with a refresh.

Review 31:The helpful staff. Transfer to and from the ski lift and village. Beautiful towels and bedding. Lovely food. Spacious accommodation.

Review 32:The staff could not have been more helpful and friendly at the hotel. It's a little out of the main town but the hotel has a free shuttle service that's runs all say until 10pm everyday and is really prompt. Rooms are a little on the small side but lovely! Great weekend!

Review 33:The size of the large suite seemed identical to the size of the standard suite we had booked both and one was twice the price. The large suite was a bit small for 6 adults although I've stayed before in a 2 bed suite which was much larger.

Review 34:The shuttle service to and from the slopes and the centre of the village.

Review 35:-the first apartment they gave us was dreadful: floor one on the mountain side is below street level, you feel like you are in a basement, very dark, no terrace. But we waited 3-4 hours in the lobby and they switched us to 3rd floor which is much nicer -you can walk to the centre down the Calvaire path (10-15 min). It could be a nice walk if they put some lights and a connecting path for the first 100 m which goes through a forrest and is now slippery and completely dark at night -very small lobby/bar area -guests and hotel service use the same elevators -WIFI (both free and paid) does not work well in the rooms:streaming is practically impossible. Only good WIFI is the hotel's but you need to be in the lobby to use that

Review 36:we stayed for 3 weeks in a 2 bedroom 2 bath duplex apartment. It had 2 balconies - one off the living area and first bedroom and another on the lower level/second bedroom. +Daily room cleaning was excellent +oven/dishwasher/fridge/MW useful for a long stay +sauna/pool/hot tub area was clean and quiet +decent restaurant, if you don't feel like going out to a more lively place in town +shuttle service to Mt Arbois and Megeve centre +crepes at 4pm +could be ski-in if there is a lot of snow. We did it twice coming back from Mt Arbois. Had to carry skis only the last 30 m. +good price/quality value for Megeve

Review 37:Dinner menu was limited for an extended stay. Perched on the hill, location was a little in convenient, however the shuttle bus was available

Review 38:English speaking staff were very helpful. They gave a room up grade at no extra cost. Room was serviced exceptionally well. Towels were the size of the bathroom. Very lux. A shuttle bus service was offered to the town and closest lift. Dinner and breakfast was very nice. Didn't use the wellness facilities l

Review 39:Heated pool was a tad cold. Despite having dishwasher and microwave in the room there were no plates or cutlery available in rooms (you had to ask). Not a big issue. Still a magic place to stay.

Review 40:The staff were always very friendly and helpful, and we rarely had to wait more than a few minutes for the driver to take us to the mountain or town centre. Wonderful location, extremely comfortable rooms and beds and excellent hot water showers and baths to end the day. Loved it.

Review 41:Very cut off from the village - too far to walk up. The walk down is long and along a busy main road without sidewalk. Also cut off from the ski slopes. You have to rely on the hotel shuttles which try hard, but you can be waiting 45 minutes... Some staff really not up to par - overworked and undertrained. Attitude of some staff members, especially at front desk unhelpful and smug. No room service except that you can order breakfast in your room. No telephone in room all week despite reporting problem at start. No minibar in room. Room only made up at 3 pm on one day and 4 pm on another (though chambermaids very competent when they appeared). Our laundry took four days (not 24 hrs as promised). Not sure whether it is serviced apartments or a hotel. Way overpriced for what it is.

Review 42:Great, spacious room, quiet, at the top of the hotel on the 5th floor, with a fantastic view over the village and mountains on one side, and a peaceful hillside on the other. Note: the lift only goes up to the 4th floor and you have to climb one floor on the stairs.

Review 43:Rooms werent too child friendly. And there is no room service available neither they are equipped to assist you off peak hours.

Review 44:I liked the porter who was very friendly at all times but apart from that the reception staff were least cooperative

Review 45:The views from the hotel are beautiful. The outdoor pool is wonderful on a sunny day. Our Megeve Escape Suite was spacious and comfortable for a family of 4.

Review 46:There are no place for the towels nor bath robes in the sauna or in the pool area. The lockers by the entrance are too far away and therefore inconvenient to use. Two showers are not enough for the pools/sauna area.

Review 47:The suite was excellent with a beautiful view. The quality of the sauna (meaning the heat) was good and it was spacious enough. Very good restaurant and very nice staff in general.

Review 48:The hotel advertisement indicated "hill view as extra comfort", which in reality meant that our windows and balcony faces a bush with a road. The hill scenery remained a mystery. Fake and misleading sales! A dirty old carpet in the room. The hotel ad told we had a kitchenette, which was true, but all utensils (pots, pans, plates) were to be rented for 35e/day!!!! This wasn't mentioned anywhere.

Review 49:Expensive, lifts not working for all our stay

Review 50:Beautiful location

Review 51:TV was not working. The room is very small.

Review 52:Fantastic location and view

Review 53:Breakfast was rather simple and far from being delicious... Hot tube did not always work

Review 54:staff friendliness, shuttle service is quite convenient

Review 55:Room was very cold, and decor was rather rudimentary. Spa wasn't staffed and had no towels.

Review 56:Staff were pleasant

Review 57:Friendly, super-helpful staff, outdoor pool with mountain views, stunning view from balcony, fluffy towels and spa

Review 58:Kitchenette in room but no cutlery or crockery.

Review 59:Lovely outdoor pool. Duplex suite worked well with a family.

Review 60:room somewhat stuffy, toilet leaking onto the floor

Review 61:staff extremely friendly, food was excellent, view and location

Review 62:Sauna did not work. Kitchen in room is not powered, microwave is removed and no plates.

Review 63:Nice view.

Review 64:Staff were very welcoming and helpful.

Review 65:The facilities could be better.

Review 66:Very frendly, nice and serviceoriented staff.

Review 67:Bar products need improvement

Review 68:No room service

Review 69:We loved the shuttle offered by the hotel to go on the snow hills or in Megeve.

Review 70:No room service, shuttle setvice not food enough. They provide inly half the service

Review 71:Kids club

Review 72:everything

Review 73:Noting

Review 74:Too far if you do not have a car. On a cliff so complicated to go back to the hotel

Review 75:Nice staff Clean rooms Big rooms with great view

Review 76:The staff were fabulous. The room was comfortable - slightly too small for to have a full fridge and half kitchen. The food was lovely at the restaurant. The pool warm..

Review 77:- location may not be perfect for skiing; both slopes and village are relatively far away. For summer visitors with a car the location is perfect. - buffet breakfast could be included in the room price

Review 78:+ great room with a separate lounge area + large well equipped bathroom and a separate toilet + balcony with a suberb view over the Megeve village + spa and 2 pools at your disposal

Review 79:We were unlucky this year since the restaurant and spa were shut during the second half of our stay due to it being at the very end of the season. The staff were very understanding when we complained. There was no shuttle in the evening which made it a bit of a hassle to get dinner.

Review 80:We love the atmosphere at the Arboisie and are returning customers. It is very quiet which suits us. The restaurant is very good and we always get a spacious suite with a balcony. The staff is very helpful, friendly and polite. The shuttle is very handy since the walk into town is not always great. The pool is warm and wonderful and the views beautiful. It is not cheap but we are happy to pay to stay here.

Review 81:The bar area does not have a lot of atmosphere and the pool is a bit gloomy.

Review 82:Very friendly staff. The shuttle bus that is available to hotel guests is very convenient. Beds are good and rooms quite spacious.

Review 83:Too far out of town though the shuttle was very very prompt. No decent bar. Characterless

Review 84:The staff were wonderful and could not be more smiley and helpful.

Review 85:slow service; staff lacked local knowledge; poor shuttle service - regularly left to wait 20-30 minutes for collection post-skiing; extremely busy pool & spa areas; hot water swimming pool; poor locker room area with no seating and no separate ski boot storage...so we had cold and wet boots every morning and nowhere to sit down to put them on!

Review 86:attractive bar and reception areas; modern decor; very clean; reasonable quality food;

Review 87:1. The fabric and layout of the building is definitely not 4*. It is a concrete self-catering block converted to a hotel by the addition of the restaurant. The fittings and general standard of decoration in the hallways and rooms again is not 4*. If one should wish to use the kitchenette facility in the rooms one would have to pay an extra charge. Tea and coffee making facilities were free. 2. It is not easily possible to walk into the centre of town from the hotel especially if there is snow on the road. The hill the hotel is on is steep, and there are no pavements to walk on.

Review 88:(1) Young staff were polite and helpful. (2) Mini-bus with lifts to the centre of town and ski-lifts. This was available until 11pm which was great when eating in the town rather than at the hotel. Without the mini-bus facility staying at the hotel would be problematic as it is out of the main part of town and up a steep hill. 3. Cleanliness of the room 4. Buffet breakfast was ample 5. Swimming pool and spa area 6. Treatments available

Review 89:The restaurant is poor. Cold atmosphere in the dinning rooms... Limited choices on the menu.

Review 90:The rooms are confortable. The cleaning of the rooms is also very good. The bus navette to town or ski lifts is good although we had to wait a few time too much. The breakfast is a good one.

Review 91:They run out of Baileys on our first night and didn't replace it!!!

Review 92:The fact that they provide a shuttle bus service to the village. The hotel is outside the village and this service was a great idea. Very punctual. If not for this we would have had to book taxis to and from the hotel.

Review 93:The arrangement of the rooms via your lift system. Changing from one lift to the other to come to the reception is not good enough

Review 94:The hill top location is the attraction to us.

Review 95:Amount of noisy Russian guests. Out of order steam room. Steep access road would be difficult in severe weather.

Review 96:Shuttle service Comfortable bed and nice room Excellent restaurant Good service and staff

Review 97:Lack of equipment in kitchenette. Pricey breakfast.

Review 98:Spacious accommodation - lovely decor - friendly helpful staff. Great view of resort and mountains from balcony.

Review 99:On the evening that we stayed, only a buffet meal was available in the restaurant.

Review 100:We stayed in a split-level apartment in the hotel which comprised a living area, kitchenette and two bedrooms. The bedrooms were on separate floors which provided a little more privacy.

Review 101:The location is not easy for either the slopes or the town centre. Thebus is fabulous when it is available though after 9.45pm it is 18 Eurosby taxi (5 mins) from the town centre. The cost of the food and the winein the hotel is overly expensive.

Review 102:The staff were exceptional - all very friendly and helpful. The bus isfreely available either to the ski slopes or to the town centre. Theapartment was great - very spacious.

Review 103:Surprised to be charged an additional €20 per person for breakfast as weexpected breakfast to be included in the room price

Review 104:Friendly and helpful staff; great shuttle service between the hotel andthe ski slopes and also the village centre; good food

Review 105:Room 207 is a terrible room, tiny, stuffy and airless. You have to resort to opening the balcony door in sub zero temperatures to get some air into the room. Assign anyone to the that room and they won't come back, ever.

Review 106:Decent breakfasts, reasonable facilities

Review 107:The spa is a bit limited, ie a hot tub, a small pool and a few bitsof gym kit.

Review 108:Large comfortable rooms, provided you're not in the standard room.Reasonable location for the ski slopes although you are reliant on theshuttle bus to get you around including down into Megeve. Excellentbreakfast, albeit at a price (€20 each). Friendly helpful staff

Review 109:terrible value for money, the Bedroom was tiny, some of the furniture or fittings were tired and or lose. 1 lift appeared to service the hotel, the wait for the lift was so long it was quicker to walk on the service stairs, The Hotel itself is not attractive at ground level. The spa facilities were often over grounded

Review 110:The spa is good, the staff are always help and polite

Review 111:We had stayed in this hotel in 2009 and really liked it, however, it seems that all maintenance has stopped since then and the hotel is falling apart. The front desk staff is not helpfull and at times rude. Not very impressed by breakfast and service during breakfast.

Review 112:The drivers are nice and the shuttle bus brings you to the slopes and village centre very regularly.

Review 113:The shuttle to and from the slopes was not very reliable - we waited 25 minutes one time which isn't great when you're tired after a day's skiing.

Review 114:Friendly staff (apart from rude bar lady!)

Review 115:As we lived at the 5th floor near the roof the incline of the roof did not allow to stand in the shower because of the low height. The Spa helped though. If you don't have a car you're pretty much trapped.

Review 116:Good location if you have a car, located in between Megeve and Mont D'Arbouis station . 2 min drive to Megeve parking and 5 min to the station. Enough space around for free parking. Calm and warm room.

Review 117:Lack of clarity on the site and in communication on items included/excluded in price as I set the trip up. It was easier to understand pricing as posted at the door versus the internet site. At the end their were no surprises though.

Review 118:The staff were very accommodating and the location superb. The facilities were nice and clean. The shuttle to town and to the ski lift were especially nice as traffic and parking is an issue in the small towns. The advise on ski rental and restaurants were outstanding and very accommodating.

Review 119:the hotel is not in downtown, in order to go to the sky area you have to take a shuttle back and forth. if we wouldnt know the room can take 4 people, we wouldnt prepaid 2 rooms..

Review 120:we liked the view the hotel has and also the type of rooms

Review 121:The hotel is really far from the center city. Complimentary shuttle goesonly to Mont d'Arbois and Casino (city center), so if you want to gofor example to Jaillet-you have to take taxi. Rooms are very small inthis hotel, I mean extremly small. Sauna can fit 5 people maximum.During evenings hotel is absolutely empty. Won't be back for sure.

Review 122:Service was good. Breakfast was really good!

Review 123:The hotel had a way of trying to charge you extra for anything you can think of, internet access (even if you don't use it), extra for coffee at breakfast and 60,- € if you use the kitchen facilities in the room (!). In the restaurant, whether it was breakfast or dinner, you had to constantly fight for the waiters attention and misunderstandings were common. We got the feeling that serving the customers was a lower priority than making noise with plates and cutlery.

Review 124:Nice design hotel with cosy rooms.

Review 125:Almost everything else. We made a booking in March for a visit September10/13. Late in August they e-mailed to say the restaurant would beclosed, but that my Megeve suite had a kitchenette. I replied saying Iwas disappointed at the short notice of this change, but accepted. Whenwe got to the hotel we were told that it was really closed, but that wecould use our room as booked, There was no breakfast, restaurant, bar,room/domestic service, hardly any staff ( we saw three, but never twotogether ) and the place was locked down from 5.30pm, with the onlyaccess through the garage. We decide to eave after 2 nights instead of3, the last straw was when the weather turned bad....not their fault. Atcheck out they had the nerve to suggest, initially, that there would bea cancellation charge for the third night....that soon got thrown out!Their one gesture was to waive the parking charge!!

Review 126:Nice location overlooking Megeve.

Review 127:this is great hotel. every thing was great. the room was so clean and it gives you 5 star bathrooms. the view was amazing. the food was so tastey. i will recommed it to any one.

Review 128:Two remarks: 1. The lounge facilities are poor, but we did not mind because of the good weather. 2. The list of red wines was bad and at high prices.

Review 129:The staff is friendly and very responsive. Makes you feel confortable and really works the extra mile to please you. Nice indoor and outdoor swimming pools too.

Review 130:For a 4-star hotel, it's a snag that they don't serve Irish coffee at the bar and poached eggs on breakfasts.

Review 131:It's swanky however the staff are friendly especially Jeannie from the Spa who gave me that magical facial spa and Antton from the Front Desk who pulled strings for me to be able to surprise my 12-yr old daughter on her birthday. But then, I wouldn't like to stay in a swanky hotel with snobbish, unfriendly staff. That's not vacation for me.

Review 132:I expected more utensils in the suite so that we could make snacks andbreakfast. We were using the hotel in order to do the Etape de Tour fromAlbertville and had to leave at 5.30 am. We had to ask the staff for abowl for the microwave.

Review 133:Very confortable

Review 134:The fact that we were woken up on Sunday morning by the cleaners. They did not enter our room but they were noisy cleaning the room next door.

Review 135:Overall a nice hotel with friendly stuff.

Review 136:Not good if you want to be able to walk to town.

Review 137:We had a superb family suite which was great value for money. Staff werefriendly and helpful. The leisure facilities were good (though the saunawas not working) and the location offered excellent views of the villageand valley. (Not close to the town centre, however.)

Review 138:Food in the restaurant on the one night we eat there was terrible. Weboth had pasta dishes within the pasta totally overcooked and the saucetasted of nothing. Very disappointing. The bar area in the hotel isinside the restaurant and a poor size and location. The gym has onebike, treadmill etc and is more like a private gym. The inside pool isvery dark as it is in the basement (no natural light).

Review 139:The view from the front of the hotel is spectacular ! The room was cleanand spacious with self catering and fridge freezer. The staff werefriendly and helpful. It is not in the town but close enough (15 minuteswalk through the woods). The outside pool is wonderful with spectacularviews as is the outside breakfast/dinning area.
