Reviews for Hotel Des Bains

Review 1:hard to find parking.

Review 2:scenic setting nearly at the centre of everything in Granville. Easy access to places of interest; the hotel building is an authentic period piece in good condition.

Review 3:Parking was a problem. Although we could park at night and put parking ticket on for the morning. A few hotel spaces would be desirable.

Review 4:We loved the room with sea view and the breakfast was very good value.

Review 5:Staff a little cold and not responsive: the second breakfast (which was awesome) I quickly realized that the music was one song repeated all the time; told staff but this was not fixed for the whole meal; not that bad, but for a musician it is quite annoying.

Review 6:Facilities, awesome breakfast,

Review 7:The hotel is right in the centre of town, a few steps from the water, and within walking distance of every attraction and facility. The hotel was accommodating and helpful.

Review 8:No iron and iron board in the room. No kettle or drink making facilities. Can't charge dinner to the room.

Review 9:Location is excellent but people exiting the casino can be very noisy

Review 10:Hôtel des Bains is a beautiful building just steps away from the beach, restaurants, and casino. Parking can be tricky in this busy area. We spent one night in a lovely, large, nicely furnished fifth floor room which had a nifty sitting alcove (in the turret). The room, accessible by elevator, had wonderful views, a comfortable bed, and provided modern amenities including free WiFi, coffee, tea, and jacuzzi. Our reception was cordial. The hotel lobby had been freshly painted the day of our arrival, so there was some disarray. Up in our room, a used coffee cup and spoon had not been exchanged for clean when the room was serviced before our check-in. Breakfast buffet is offered and comprises coffee, teas, juices, milk, cold meats, regional cheeses, breads, croissants, cereals, and soft- and hard-cooked eggs to order. Service at breakfast seemed a little harried, but friendly. I would stay here again if I return to Granville.

Review 11:Parking was difficult. Not hotel's fault. but some info about best places to try, when charges apply would have helped.

Review 12:Great location. Good quality accommodation. Yummy breakfast!

Review 13:Just a couple of minor things - the room was uncomfortably warm for mid-May even without heating on; what would it be like in summer? Tea and coffee making facilities would have been nice.

Review 14:It was nice being so central - everywhere we wanted to go was just a short walk away. The staff were friendly and the restaurant was great.

Review 15:Plastic floor covering, no lounge , noisy casino opposite. expensive busy car park if you can find a place !

Review 16:Very helpful staff , nice view over sea, free parking 10 min. away at " port " with plenty of room & also great Restaurants. The walk is on the flat. Could drop off cases outside Hotel and drive to drop off car up road or port. Receptionist gave us map of area for parking & Food , nice shops around. Good for a night stop.

Review 17:Rather simple. No extra facilities. No AC, no minibar or real bar in the hotel.

Review 18:Perfect location: in centre, near the sea, and close to many restaurants and bars as well as the old town.

Review 19:Off road parking only - Charges apply after 9.00am Hotel does not many facilities

Review 20:interesting style Room lovely very clean and comfortable and a good size Great views Good as a base

Review 21:Parking is a very big problem. We arrived at 2.30pm and spent nearly an hour looking for a space. Eventually we had to park 20 mins walk away. Breakfast could have been better. Croissants tasted as though they had been made with industrial fat instead of butter. Wifi didn't work after 9pm

Review 22:We were very comfortable as we had a spacious triple room to accommodate our daughter. Location was important as we needed to be close to the town shops and restaurants.

Review 23:Hairdryer and parking

Review 24:We had a large, very nice triple room with a good bathroom and a great shower. The hairdryer was really poor, though. The room was clean and we had no problems with noise from the casino or any other rooms. The WIFI worked great, as did the TV. Our only problem was that there was no parking anywhere near the hotel. I had read that there wasn't parking but thought we could park at the casino. No. At reception we dropped off luggage and they gave us a map of Granville with available parking lots, but it didn't indicate one way streets and was not very precise on where the lots were really. This became a huge problem when trying to find the car to leave. It would be great if the hotel could provide a more detailed map for where to park.

Review 25:Nice and spatious room - I had the prestige room. Lacks a bit cosiness. Staff is not infriendly but seems uninterested.

Review 26:Everything

Review 27:Very friendly helpful staff

Review 28:dirty windows, which is a shame as the rooms were very clean.

Review 29:excellent location, nice size of rooms

Review 30:Nothing

Review 31:Everything. Right on the beach with in easy reach of shops and restaurants. Comfortable room, excellent breakfast and friendly helpful staff.

Review 32:Impossible to keep the window open during the night due to street noise

Review 33:excellent service, breakfast and location.

Review 34:Separate shower would be nice. Not easy parking .

Review 35:Excellent sea view .Linen and towels good quality.

Review 36:nothing

Review 37:Little noisy for the street side rooms

Review 38:Large bathroom and lots do storage, right there at the ocean.

Review 39:No drink making facilities in room.

Review 40:Seafront Location. Rooms nicely decorated and spacious.

Review 41:Nice Location, next to the beach... Friendly staff... Nice restaurants around... Cozy room and bed, even tough it was not seaside view..

Review 42:Very limited parking

Review 43:Nice rooms Quiet (anti-noise windows) Near beach and old city Breakfast buttet

Review 44:We hadn't really expected to have to pay for parking but the on-street parking by the hotel is metered and you have to pay between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. This is not the fault of the hotel but despite the good windows I was woken very early by delivery vans servicing the casino opposite and the screaming of the seagulls - who also made a real mess of our car!

Review 45:We decided to spend a bit more and go for the room with the sea view for the one night we were there. It was a real pity that it was only one night. Granville is lovely and most interesting. We want to come back! The extra for the view was definitely worth it. We sat on the comfortable chairs in the window niche and watched the tide come and go! On the other side of the hotel the rooms seemed to look out on to a road. The room and bathroom were spacious and clean.

Review 46:The toilet was leaking as we arrived. This jas been done after we called the service. The shower had also a few leaks..... The near Casino might be a bit loud of you leave the windows open....

Review 47:The view was very nice

Review 48:The wifi coverage was weak and if you left the hotel it was required to log on again to use wifi when you returned - tedious. TV limited to terrestrial stations, not good in the 21st century. The lift was a little hit and miss.

Review 49:Location was great and the room was clean, well decorated and had great views of the sea and coast. This is a lovely hotel in a lovely town. Staff were kind and helpful. Great value for money too.

Review 50:Wifi connection was very slow, in the end not connected at all for the duration of the stay.

Review 51:Excellent centre of town location. Contemporary designs interior.

Review 52:Sound proofing of the room non existent, could hear the next door visitors conversation. Very noisy plumbing system -when the next door toilet is flushed sounds like its in the same room. Loud banging doors and people walking on the corridors very loud. Mistake to have booked for two nights.

Review 53:Very nice room, comfy bed, view of the beach.

Review 54:No tea/coffee making facilities. No Aircon

Review 55:What a fantastic setting right by the seaside. Plenty of Restaurants in the area to accomodate all tastes. Easy to walk through Town. Friendly Staff. Would recommend you book a Parking beforehand if travelling by car - only 4 and area is very busy.

Review 56:Wifi would not connect in 3rd floor room. No hotel parking but publicpay spaces are adjacent to the hotel. No hotel bar open on the nightwe stayed.

Review 57:The location is just 50 yards from the beach. Very quiet even in theevenings. Sea view room was very pleasant

Review 58:There was nothing that I did not like although parking is difficult when busy.

Review 59:Very friendly staff, and comfortable clean and spacious room and bathroom. Really good value for money.

Review 60:Very basic, couldn't get wifi to work, hotel being decorated inconvenient but no apology. Staff distant but polite when spoken to. Breakfast good but breakfast room had crumbs all over tables and utilitarian. No frills. Garage across 2 roads.

Review 61:Convenient location, low cost.

Review 62:Would have liked a kettle in the room

Review 63:Comfy room

Review 64:I think I got charged for breakfast and it was supposed to be included!

Review 65:Location

Review 66:excellent location, spacious room and especially bathroom, nice breakfast, plenty of free parking within a few minutes' walk

Review 67:Centrally located

Review 68:Noise from patrons of the nearby Casino leaving noisily at 0300 hours, when our windows were open during the warm weather

Review 69:Room, view, location

Review 70:Good location. Parking much easier than expected (no parking available according to description).

Review 71:Not really our type of accomodation

Review 72:Handy for a one night stop over

Review 73:Convenient locaTION. GARAGE available for bikes. Staff friendly

Review 74:very good location in the town centre
