Reviews for The Highfield Hotel
Review 1:Nothing. Bathroom a little dated but nice shower and was nice and clean :)
Review 2:Small problem with heating, receptionist immediately swapped our room. Maintenance man v polite. Nothing was too much trouble.
Review 3:The bed was awful! We had to sleep on the sofa bed but then moved to the floor as the sofa bed felt like nails
Review 4:The front of house staff was fantastic! She took care of issues speedily and service with a smile
Review 5:we have stayed here several times now, each time the reception staff have been very helpful and friendly. Self service buffet breakfast is ideal, good choice of cereals and breads.
Review 6:Hotel needs soundproofing. I asked for a quiet room. Woken up at 11.30pm(BST), even though I was wearing earplugs by the couple next door having an argument and then again at 1.30am(GMT) by a group of men in the room opposite who had come back from a party and decided to continue it in their room.
Review 7:Bed very comfy.
Review 8:Decor is clean and tidy, but old, this reflected in the price - my £55.00 room was en suite, had a king size bed, sofa bed, and single bed pouffe, and still had room to host a kids birthday party should the need have arisen. It also included breakfast and use of the leisure facilities.
Review 9:Swimming Pool - salt water made it a little different, but not unpleasant, and it was nice that my 13 year old was allowed in the jacuzzi without a song and dance (no age restriction advertised). Nice gym, nice continental breakfast, huge room, great value for £55.00.
Review 10:Wifi doesn't work in all the rooms. Public transport in to Leeds was difficult.
Review 11:Friendly and helpful staff, large comfortable rooms and self-serve breakfast. My room had a pleasant garden view.
Review 12:The management need some serious 're-training where people skills are concerned!!
Review 13:I liked the fact their continental breakfast was free (my kids were very happy) The facilitiesw ere nice albeit in need of some updates, the check in and check out staff were lovely too
Review 14:Had to check out at 11am which was a bit early when you had had a big night out, would have been better another half our at least
Review 15:Good location, the rooms are a realy good size and the staff very friendly
Review 16:We didn't like that the 'dining room' was squashed into a corner of the reception area, we had breakfast in there on the first morning but went to McDonalds for the other two days.
Review 17:The room was lovely with plenty of room to move about.
Review 18:Not the cleanest. Stains on furniture. And the sheets dont fit the double bed so i was sleeping on the plastic mattress cover most of the night
Review 19:Plenty of space in the room and temperature was good
Review 20:nothing!!
Review 21:Friendly staff when booking in, facilities where great, didnt use most of them but will come back and stop longer next time, size of room was amazing!! handy location, i live in knaresborough but have friends who live near the hotel so the location is perfect for me, stopped at ibis last time and that wasnt much cheaper but was very basic, so this hotel now wins every time for me, very good value for the price.
Review 22:Green emergency light in the room was on all night. Bathroom door had to be shoved really hard to close it. A plug socket worked intermittently
Review 23:Friendly staff lively pool pub be t door with excellent food.
Review 24:They didn't have any golden syrup for the waffles haha, that's it as there's nothing I could complain about x
Review 25:Staff lovely and friendly and very helpful, also pool, sauna, steam room are excellent xx
Review 26:Bit on the tired/dated side and there was a problem with the room key machine for an hour but the staff helped as much as they could.
Review 27:Lovely cheerful staff and huge rooms!
Review 28:The room was cold and dated. The leisure facilities were disgusting. The swimming pool was so dirty it was discoloured which the staff member was open to admit that it needed cleaning. You could smell the dirty water before opening the door. The hotel was notified of dietary requirements in advance of booking and I ensured relevant notes were made on the booking form. We discussed them with receptionist on arrival to ensure sufficient breakfast was available. The following morning the staff member we spoke to was unaware and they had to send someone to a local supermarket at the time as they had not got the food in advance, despite the dietary requirements being discussed several times. To be fair to the staff when we did ask for things, such as a heater or hot chocolate, they did act upon it.
Review 29:Very spacious room
Review 30:nothing
Review 31:Pleasant surprised by this hotel on what was an overnight stop. Staff very friendly, large comfortable room and buffet breakfast excellent. Enjoyed spa very much. Extremrly good value for money. Pub on site served a very good meal at 9.45.
Review 32:Slightly strange set up..no permanent person on reception. No proper restaurant for breakfast. Bit eerie at times. Eerie green Fire exit light in bedrooms now which emits too much light at night.
Review 33:Enjoy using gym facilities. The hotel is very near family so we can visit them very easily when we come up from London
Review 34:The bed was a little bit soft for us. Also the room could have done with net curtains to provide some privacy from the room being overlooked by houses at the rear.
Review 35:Found the staff friendly and efficient. The room size was very spacious.
Review 36:The only thing that we would complain about was the decor of the room and the hotel, just needs a repainting and papering.
Review 37:We liked the large bed and the staff were very friendly and helpful.
Review 38:No lift in the property which would have been easily rectified if I had ask for a ground floor room.
Review 39:The staff where unbelievably helpful very friendly. The rooms are massive, which meant we had plenty of room for our 1month old and all that we travelled with.
Review 40:In my first room the single bed was old and springs were sticking out!Receptionist changed my room .breakfast was in reception area and feltuncomfortable and crowded! Swing fire doors outside my room banged everynight due mostly by people in and out all night for cigarettes
Review 41:All staff I met were very helpful and made my experience delightful!
Review 42:Stayed here before, the place is now looking a little tired. Changed menu in pub and it's now very poor. (Apart from the chips-great.) Should have left the old menu, or parts of it anyway, in place.
Review 43:Staff friendly and helpful.
Review 44:Wifi in the room was poor.
Review 45:The facilities were excellent for a hotel of this type and in this location. Where else will you get a salt water pool, a steam room, sauna, jacuzzi and restaurant on site in a hotel that takes dogs.
Review 46:We arrived late after a long day with no booking. The staff treated us like royalty settling us in, leaving the kitchen open so we could have a meal and even helping with us with the quiz night questions!! So friendly and helpful.
Review 47:No one on reception on arrival, flooded bathroom. Although clean there was an air of neglect, horrible pillows ended up with neckache. Mattress cover was plastic and very sweaty.
Review 48:The location and price.
Review 49:It was absolutely freezing! The radiators were on maximum but it was just so cold, and it wasn't even a cold night when I stayed there!
Review 50:Great value for money and great location for my meeting.
Review 51:It snowed a great deal whilst I was there and the Car Park was lethal most mornings. Maybe invest in a bit more Rock Salt. Also, after housekeeping had been to my room the windows were left wide open, which I appreciate is to keep the room fresh, but as I was on the ground floor, it did present a slight risk to my belongings left in the room.
Review 52:Great location to where I was working, Wi-Fi was excellent as were the facilities on site. Especially the attached Restaurant and Pub.
Review 53:Nothing
Review 54:You get a free light breakfast in hotel or a cooked breakfast at the moo restaurant on site with a discount if booked at hotel and it is well worth the money one of the nicest breakfasts we have had
Review 55:The room was freezing. In the main room the radiator was small in thesmall annexe area the radiaor was large. The floor, being concrete, never got warm. We went to bed at 8.30pm to try to warm up. Even afterthe owner had suuplied a small fan heater. I do not think 10 heaterswould have warmed it up. They did not switch the heating on till we gotin the room.
Review 56:The staff the facilities the room layout, although a coffee table wouldhave been helpful. The on site resturant was excellent and reasonable. The owner was on hand and listened to our complaint. I would return herebut only on warmer days.
Review 57:The breakfast wasn't the best! It was in a tiny area and quite a few families all trying to make their breakfast at the same time and we were all squashed up in a tiny area near reception! Would have been nicer to lay the food out better and for it to be in a bigger room! It was like we were in someone's little kitchen in their home not a hotel
Review 58:I liked the size of the room and the fact that the pool Etc was included in the price although I hadn't realised when i booked so I never brought the right things to use the facilities
Review 59:Would have liked a cooked breakfast in the morning as with being on business, we needed a cooked breakfast to set us up for the day. Beds were too soft. Not enough biscuits, shampoo and body lotion for 3 people
Review 60:Room was nice and spacious. Swimming pool and leisure facilities were good
Review 61:The bathroom tiles were cracked amd the shower head was not firmly attached. When the shower was used, water leaked down the wall from behind the shower head. The bath was not clean. 2 spoons had been provided for tea making, one clearly had not been cleaned and was I'm fact stuck to the tray.
Review 62:The staff member at reception was extremely helpful and amenable.
Review 63:Not immediately clear to me which was hotel, and which restaurant, but 5 seconds observation solved this.
Review 64:Staying where party was, so could drink; ample parking; friendly staff; good-sized room for a single, and nice shower; good self-service breakfast over lengthy period in the morning.
Review 65:Breakfast. Got the impression the place was a school in it's previous life due to size of rooms, strange cupboards between each and every room, outside appearance, etc. Pillows almost non-existent. Even two stacked was less than one fluffy one. Cold and strange feel to the place. A little difficult to get to from the West.
Review 66:Cheap. Good value for money although the rather poor breakfast left me feeling a little disappointed being the last memory of the place. Big rooms, plenty of space. Good bar and steak house next door. No chance to try the leisure centre this time but I might be back as for one night....oh, I don't know...strange!
Review 67:Breakfast facilities weren't the best and location in the reception area not ideal. Pillows on bed weren't the best and tv a bit small.
Review 68:The location for was excellent for what we need. Great size rooms. Friendly staff.
Review 69:The breakfast had a good selection (albeit self service) but the breakfast area lacks any sense of comfort or welcome. It looks to be in the wrong location (opposite the reception desk). It needs more thought.
Review 70:Our room, with four poster bed, much larger than average. Windows right across the room. Large bathroom with huge modern shower. Quiet room.
Review 71:Dated rooms, stains on carpet,,and found blood stain on duvet cover...definitely not ours....overall very poor value for money,,,surprised owners let customers in,,,I'd be too embarrassed!!!!sorry,,not good enough....
Review 72:Nothing,, restaurant did good food, sadly cooked breakfast not available till 12pm, by then most people would have been long gone,,
Review 73:The towels were not white the bed felt like we were sleeping with our feet raised while getting in the shower I slipped banging my knee even though there was a none slip bath at in the bath at the time the breakfast pastries were not the freshest and if you didn't drink tea coffee milk or pineapple juice you had to do with out
Review 74:Ease of access
Review 75:not their fault but the fire alarm went off in the early morning but they handled it exceptionally well.
Review 76:All staff were friendly and helpful and went out of their way to make you feel welcome and valued. Rooms were spacious, comfortable and great value for money. Loads of free parking available (even if you arrive late) Free wifi in the rooms. Facilities nearby (Moo restaurant on site) was superb and very handy.
Review 77:One of the main reasons for booking was the spa, whilst we tried it on the Saturday we were very disappointed to find that the jacuzzi was cold on Sunday morning at 09.45. The person in charge was very appologetic and said that they clean it out on Sunday mornings. I think it should be cleaned at the end of a shift thereby allowing full use for customers at the stated opening time 0f 08.00.
Review 78:The staff were all very pleasant and helpful, the rooms were very big and the location was handy for my trip.
Review 79:Having attended a wedding at the hotel some years ago, then it's subsequent closure, we thought that it had perhaps been updated when it re-opened. However it is still very tired in most areas, the bathrooms in particular would benefit from a refit and breakfast in the reception area is not ideal at all. In hindsight we would probably choose a Travelodge or Premier Inn in future and pay the additional associated taxi fares!
Review 80:For us the location was the reason we chose The Highfield.
Review 81:We felt that as the room was so large it felt a bit empty. There was no lounge chairs therefore only the bed to sit on. A couple of easy chairs and a coffee table would have made a big difference!
Review 82:We had a large room. Bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was self service and we had plenty of choice and ample to eat. Car parking was good and area clean and tidy. Good value all round
Review 83:The detergent used to wash bedding and towels smells awful, so bad it prevented me from getting to sleep. This was my third stay and I wish they would change the washing detergent
Review 84:Price, Size and comfort of the bed and the location
Review 85:The hotel is what it is. It's in need of refurbishment and updating but it's pleasant and pretty comfortable. The swimming pool, hot tub and sauna were great.
Review 86:No view, with opaque windows, also couldn't have window open because workers (customers) congregated at the the rear of (I think) the pub, smoking and talking.
Review 87:Very clean room, spacious for a single room, large en-suite, comfy bed, and very pleasant helpful staff.
Review 88:The room was a good size with plenty of space. The accommodation was clear and well presented and the staff were very helpful. Many thanks Keith and Tracy martin.
Review 89:Creaky floors; we were woken up at 5am by the guests in the room above us walking about!
Review 90:Breakfast was great.. Continental breakfast with masses of choice of cereals, breads, muffins, croissants, waffles, crumpets; variety of fresh juices, fresh fruit, yoghurts, cheeses .
Review 91:Unclean, terrible staff, noise all night, rooms weren't made up and they charged two extra nights for a lost key after saying there would be no charge at reception when we informed them of it!
Review 92:Could perhaps have put an armchair or sofa in the room, plenty of space for one. The view was just buildings, but not much the hotel can do about that!
Review 93:Great welcome Lovely big room Facilities looked great - hope I have time to use the pool next time. Super value for money
Review 94:Moo Restaurant caters mostly for meat eaters, with no obvious alternatives within walking distance. No cooked breakfast available, despite restaurant on site.
Review 95:Location, within easy walking distance of our family party. Distance from road, which ensured a good night's sleep. Large room with king size bed.
Review 96:Read the prev revue
Review 97:I did not that to ask for towels everyday andi stayed there for 5 days not once did the clean the room ode the bed sheets and you should fix your toilet seats hand to shange rooms because of the toilet seat and it smeled of smoke I have stayed there many times when it was the sporting loge sorry for this bad revue but you bed to change your clenses
Review 98:At reception there are some basic breakfast options. Most had mold on or had gone stale. Would recommend walking round the corner to Morrisons or going out.
Review 99:Huge rooms and the restaurant next door is brilliant. Staff are friendly and it was close to the wedding we were attending. Was clean enough for a night after heavy drinking but I wouldn't want to go for a romantic weekend away!
Review 100:The shower was not working properly and it was difficult to wash the suds out of our hair. Television reception was poor. The room didn't seem to be cleaned on a daily basis and we had to ask for clean towels.
Review 101:We loved the friendly service, the beds were very comfortable. The gym and health spa was wonderful too. When we had a problem it was dealt with, the staff definitely made our stay.
Review 102:Excellent friendly staff, great value for money, and gave my friends who were visiting the city for the first time a great impression of bradfordians and yorkshire.

Review 124:Friendly staff, and a nice Pub/bar on site!
Review 125:No problems
Review 126:Excellent staff. Good breakfast.
Review 127:Size of the room, really clean, staff were very helpful and breakfast was great!

Review 129:Facilities and location are very good.
Review 130:The food in the Moo restaurant
Review 131:wifi did not work in my room
Review 132:very spacious rooms, very nice personnel
Review 133:Continental breakfast- the food itself was good, but it was a bit crowded at the breakfast station.
