Reviews for Yak-Y-Da Inn
Review 1:Rather scruffy room (and accommodation area generally) in need of redecoration
Review 2:Exceptionally polite staff - friendly but not pushy Good solid food - breakfasts and evening meals (Nepali/Thai) Good beer in the bar Cheap and cheerful
Review 3:Service unprofessional. Building very untidy with old appliances out the back. Looked like an old shak. No towels (were not told) No food on arrival even though asked when booking Waited for breakfast - no commuication then power cut. Only took £5 off for no breakfast
Review 4:The room was adequate
Review 5:Were do i start. From the moment we found the B&B we got a bad impression. The car park had heaps of empty Bottles in it. All looked very untidy. The room we had we could not get Wifi although we had all info to connect to it. We had one double socket to use which was smashed. The other socket had plugs in it being used for things outside of the room with notices to say not to use. We started to look behind things for more sockets but wished we hadn't .Mould on walls around windows and in Bathroom. Headboard wasn't connected to bed. We felt so uncomfortable about the room we did think about just leaving .
Review 6:The bed was very comfortable and we slept well. Breakfast was also good.
Review 7:Outstanding Himalayan / Thai food. Could not fault anything. Beautiful flavours and good sized portions. Room was warm, clean with a comfortable bed. Great full Welsh breakfast in the morning. Great people. Great service. Very friendly
Review 8:Room was on the front, so road noise was an issue, difficult to sleep. The heating in the room was full on and could not be turned down, cociequently it was to hot to sleep.
Review 9:Food was very good. Staff were friendly and very willing to please.
Review 10:So much to say so little space... Mouse in the bin at 3am no curtains & clear glass in the bathroom TV did not wort power socket smashed and for £54!!!
Review 11:Checking out
Review 12:Photos on line were quite old. It wasn't explained that all accommodation up up steep stairs and having two people with mobility problems it was unfair this was not advertised.
Review 13:Hosts were great as was the food. All meals were outstanding.
Review 14:The property needs basic maintenance - locks, electrics, radiators and plumbing could all use an overhaul.
Review 15:Very good food in the restaurant. Rooms are clean and nicely decorated. Breakfast is served late (take note) but is good. Staff are very keen to please. Garden is lovely. Quaint building. Quirky Nepalese ambiance.
Review 16:The restaurant was fantastic, the quality of the food and unusual selection of Nepalese and Thai food was excellent and well received after a long drive. This totally made up for the slightly out of the way location. Peacocks, fancy hens, trampoline and charming staff.
Review 17:Can't get in to hotel as post code take you to wine warehouse (tomtom and google map) Stair to bedroom was broken No facility at all No games room No gym Hotel located in the middle of nowhere. Nothing to do there to kill time.
Review 18:Staff was friendly
Review 19:The door doesn't close or lock as you'd expect it to.
Review 20:The bed was amazingly comfortable. The attached restaurant is worth the visit and you should try the Gurkha beer with the food.
Review 21:shabby décor with flaking paint, bedroom door that would not lock, step into room had collapsed, poor DIY room with holes in shower etc. View over car park and huge recycling tip, but view from bedroom of fields. We chose not to eat in restaurant in the evening due to awful loud music
Review 22:Friendly willing staff, good breakfast when asked for.
Review 23:Couldnt get phone reception in the room.
Review 24:Really lovely chaps who run the place, very friendly and welcoming. Lovely garden outside with peacocks walking around. We had a meal there in the evening and the food was absolutely gorgeous.
Review 25:Not having a big enough stomach so I could eat more food.
Review 26:Room was comfy and the staff where very polite and attentive and the food in the evening was amazing.
Review 27:Some mysterious confusion about payment by debit card from Booking.com. Management wanted me to pay cash, because supposedly the payment didn't go through. I didn't pay cash, but I did stay at the hotel, so debit card payment had to have been successful. The fire alarm rang at 6.30am and we rushed out of bed. The managers didn't take the alarm too seriously.
Review 28:Great cooked breakfast, attractive room.
Review 29:Only good part of stay was evening meal. Rooms poor, no TV working, damp rooms, uncomfortable bed, high pitched whining noise all night, terrible breakfast at ridiculous times!
Review 30:Evening meal good.
Review 31:Very run down. Bed not ready on arrival. Lights not working. TV ancient. Shower could be cleaner. Sofa bed rock hard. Waited 50 mins for staff to appear & for breakfast. Breakfast cold & unpleasant.
Review 32:The bedding was clean and the staff were nice & friendly.
Review 33:Wifi was slow and poor signal
Review 34:Friendly and simple, not your usual B&B. but everyone was nice and good evening meals if you want them. oh and peacocks in the morning in the garden cheers anyones day
Review 35:There wasn't anything we disliked.
Review 36:We were late to arrive, and the owner stayed up to let us in, despite it being about 12.30 at night. The room was light and airy, clean, nicely decorated and had a nice view of a field. The place was excellent value for money had a lovely outdoor space, and the people who run the place are really wonderful, kind people. The breakfast was great too, all in all, we had a brilliant experience!
Review 37:Breakfast timing is somewhat inflexible as it is only available between 9 and 10am. The peacocks are beautiful but loud at times.
Review 38:I wasn't expecting a nepalse restaurant on site but that was a bonus. Also some good beers available in the bar. Plenty of parking space.
Review 39:Had to ask for code for wifi poor should have had usual local information in the room but nothing at all bath water scorching hot and cold water tap did not appear to work until I realised it had to be full on
Review 40:Staff friendly
Review 41:Location 2 miles outside Hay-on -Wye was too far. Hikers beware: road has no pedestrian lanes and cars drive fast.
Review 42:Friendly service and chance to have breakfast earlier before time
Review 43:Decoration is very tired and rooms need redecorating. Cobwebs.
Review 44:Friendly staff. Nice Nepalese dinner. Nice cooked breakfast. Comfy mattress. Fluffy towels. Basic toiletries in bathroom.
Review 45:We were offered breakfast between 9.00 and 10.00 only, but had to be at the Hay Festival site for an event at 8.30 am latest. We got a reduction in the price, but some flexibility would have been appreciated.
Review 46:Poor facilities in room. Did not service room. No cereals/fruit/yogurt with breakfast, just 1 egg ,1 bacon , 1 sausage ,1 mushroom, half tomato ,beans ,1 slice toast. Left alone in hotel Sunday overnight
