Reviews for Hotel Ziryab

Review 1:The staff in the municipal car park below the hotel (where a discount is applicable for hotel guests) were unhelpful and extremely dismissive.

Review 2:Overall the hotel offers excellent value for an excellent location.

Review 3:Asked for double bed but it was just 2 single beds pushed together, with single sheets as well. Not a pleasant smell to the room. Wifi was only in public area and didn't work for a little while. Not everything in the coffee/hot chocolate menu was available. Noise travels through ceiling from public area and also noisy from hallway. Towels have had too much fabric softener used...towels wouldn't dry us very well.

Review 4:Location was great, close to everything. Locker provided. Breakfast was good but very average coffee. View was good

Review 5:If we were to say two things, some softer pillows would be good as an option and the tiled floors mean when people have noisy shoes or drag cases along it wakes up the whole corridor!

Review 6:Reception are efficient and give you time to explain what you need or want. The rooms are consistently good and breakfast is excellent! Where the hotel is located matches what we want, right by the car park, right by the main lift and then you have all the amenities in walking distance.

Review 7:A bit noisy if other guests are inconsiderate when coming in late at night.

Review 8:Fair price. Lovely views. Ski locker, convenient parking, good breakfast, quality room and very clean.

Review 9:The ski lockers are miles away from the hotel. They are a pain to get to and you're better off leaving your gear in your car if you can do that. We also found the beds very hard but then that's just personal preference and the pillows were terrible. Ask for a second pillow as they appear to be much firmer! We also found the breakfast to be a bit lousy. Some friends told us it was great but apart from the oil-drenched fried eggs, it mostly comes from a can. Crazy to think they charge 18€ for this! Overall, the hotel is ok but terrible value for money. I've stayed in much better places for a fraction of the price. You basically pay for the location. Nothing else.

Review 10:The location of the hotel is excellent and just a short walk away from the lifts. It also has beautiful views.

Review 11:Room was a little small. No wifi in the room and had to go upstairs to the lounge

Review 12:It has an excellent location with good quick access to the cable car, shops, restaurants and parking. Has a very nice lounge with great views. Staff were pleasant and helpful.

Review 13:No internet. Come on its not difficult. Breakfast super busy long waits for table. 20 mins to get served in the bar, REALLY. Friend came by for a drink and walked out after 15 minute wait, disgusting.

Review 14:Location, ski lockers and saloon area

Review 15:BrDs are quite hard and uncomfortsble

Review 16:Location brilliant lockers right next to telecabina lifts so you don't have to walk far in your ski boots bar and restaurant nice staff friendly too

Review 17:The noise of other inconsiderate guests. The rooms were a little hot at night as well.

Review 18:The location of the hotel was excellent. The lounge area was a great place to meet up and relax after a hard day skiing.

Review 19:There was a draft from the window, the temperature was too high in the room and could not be adjusted so you wake up with block nose and a restless night. In the restaurant before ordering a steak the chef sneezed on his hand then continued to pick up our steak and not cook to our request. As a previous client to this hotel I would look at another option next time as I feel the cost is high but the standards have dropped.

Review 20:We use this hotel several times before as it's perfect location for the ski slopes.

Review 21:We checked in we were advised that we would get a discount for the car park, but we were not told this had to be paid within the first 24hours or discount would not apply.

Review 22:Really good location for ski-lifts,bars & restaurants.

Review 23:Ski lockers require a cash deposit of £20 and are reached by a long walk through an underground carpark, leading to a lot of extra journeys to get cash, shoes, skis, keys etc. into the right places. There was quite a lot of noise from the corridor and people were smoking there.

Review 24:Nice decor, nice food, helpful staff, lovely views from the public areas.

Review 25:No wifi in bedrooms - and public wifi poor. Water not hot enough for tea at breakfast. Queues at check-in desk. Rather expensive

Review 26:Location - near all amenities and walking distance form ski-lift Helpful staff - although some queues at desk Reduced parking fees Use of ski storage near ski lift Good selection at breakfast.

Review 27:How they state that there is wifi is beyond believe. 2 or 3 guests logging on simultaneously ground the whole wifi to a complete standstill!

Review 28:Staff were friendly but you can wait for half an hour or more to get served at the bar as they dissapear frequently.

Review 29:nothing!!!

Review 30:Loved everything about this hotel. All staff very friendly and welcoming. The position was excellent and the underground car park was very convenient and made the resort very user friendly and safe. Food excellent and extensive range to sort all tastes.

Review 31:Poor signage before entering car park? Room205 had lots of noise from electric station. No tea/coffee facilities in room. Staff could have been more friendly, and put a smile on there faces!! No ambience in lounge area.

Review 32:Location was very good. Breakfast excellent. Room was clean and bed comfy.

Review 33:Bed could have been softer and extra pillows would help.

Review 34:Location superb for parking, village center and lfits. Rooms comfortable and adequate, food good and plenty of choice. Staff excellent.

Review 35:The hotel position is excellent it is comfortable and of a good standard, you can walk from the underground car park into the hotel. Provides a good breakfast and is 100 meters from the lifts

Review 36:We stayed over new years eve, dinner was 135 euro per person( we didn't want to pay that much) I found it very rude to be told we couldn't even have a drink in our hotel bar on new years eve and no food or drink services were avalible in the hotel!( unless you pay 135 euro) We ended up walking 15 mins to the 5 star Melia hotel and had drinks in there bar.

Review 37:Wifi coverage only in the public area, and trouble connecting. This was only an irritation to us - we didn't really need the Internet.

Review 38:Everything except the wifi, which was not a big problem to us - we were on holiday ( from the Internet, too! )

Review 39:Weather and reliving the experience of previous trips when skiing. Fantastic setting!

Review 40:Room was far too hot during the night but no controls to turn it down!

Review 41:Rooms clean all fine. Food good although not cheap.

Review 42:Rooms are quite dark

Review 43:View from the bar Breakfast Staff friendliness Location

Review 44:The staff were first class we enjoyed the food The hotel is very close to the lifts for the ski slopes everything is first class

Review 45:Wifi is limited to a small area in the hotel (no wifi in the rooms), is slow and was off several times during the stay.

Review 46:Relaxed and comfortable - great value restaurant and good location

Review 47:Wifi restricted to one area

Review 48:Location Breakfast Views Friendly staff

Review 49:noisy

Review 50:location

Review 51:Nice breakfast

Review 52:The room was very small with only sitting for one person. Wifi connection doubtful. Public areas overcrowded.

Review 53:Location

Review 54:Not enough pillows.

Review 55:Great location, nice breakfast.

Review 56:There is sometimes an odd smell in the rooms.

Review 57:Perfect position for ski facilities and lifts. Ski lockers below gondola station. Good breakfast.

Review 58:Room very small

Review 59:Good breakfast - variety & quality

Review 60:Pillows

Review 61:Location, good selection of breakfast

Review 62:The facilities at this hotel are excellent. Speedy check in and out. Ski lockers at the base. Perfect.

Review 63:The noise of people wheeling cases along corridors late at night upon arrival. Kept me awake

Review 64:Location, cleanliness and warmth.

Review 65:The boot room was to far away. After a full days skiing you don't what to spend a lot of time looking for the boot room.

Review 66:The location was excellent

Review 67:access to the slopes made easy with lockers directly by the gondola

Review 68:The buffet dinner at the hotel restaurant.

Review 69:No complaints

Review 70:The Breakfasts

Review 71:To hot in hotel and room

Review 72:Parking and views. Buffet dining.

Review 73:Coffee sucks Very noisy hallways with guests walking up and down can disturb certain rooms

Review 74:Great views, ski locker

Review 75:double bed was too small

Review 76:Everything: beautiful hotel, friendly stuff, delicious food, dinner buffet was excellent! Very good location.

Review 77:The procedure to pay parking with discount is not so clear for first time travellers.

Review 78:Excelent breakfest.

Review 79:Location of Hotel. Free Private Ski Lockers at bottom of Telecabinas - no carrying of skis, etc. Private parking right outside of hotel door. Very friendly staff. Nice relaxing bar area. Highly recommended. Would definitely stay here again.

Review 80:Breakfast standard was OK. Some insects in bedroom (ants and a few small bugs). Expect that in summer but rather off putting in winter.

Review 81:helpful staff - very welcoming and attentive.

Review 82:Wifi is limited. Bar staff not the most attentive in the world. Heating is on too high!

Review 83:Location is brilliant. Breakfast, there's something for everyone.

Review 84:A problem we experience frequently is the poor sound insulation in hotels built in approx 70's?

Review 85:The buffet breakfasts and evening meals are very good. Staff are friendly and helpful and the location could not be better. Good value for money.

Review 86:Price a little high for end of season. A 24 hour coffee machine would be a good idea.

Review 87:Very friendly polite efficient staff. Excellent quality food in the restaurant at breakfast and dinner, buffet a great option lots of choice.

Review 88:The rooms where under the main reception and bar areas It was very noisey and we had to move rooms at 2am one morning Staff were not helpful when we wanted to complain to managment, telling us both managers where away or day off !!

Review 89:The hotel was lovely and food was very good

Review 90:Wi fi. Only available in bar and parts of lounge. Therefore it is very slow due to numbers using it. And it broke down for 2 days while we were there!! Could make it available in the rooms at not a lot of cost

Review 91:Regular visitor.

Review 92:Hotel is dated. Wifi in this day and age in any hotel is standard. Here it was very limited at Bar area and none in rooms, which is dismal but easy to resolve. Food is ok but nothing more. With very little effort this Hotel could be great.

Review 93:Location execellent and presentation was good, Staff were quite friendly. Rooms a decent size.

Review 94:Wifi so slow this is exasperated by lack of 3G connection available. I know this isn't their fault but they should ensure better quality wifi. Expensive parking €20 per night. Need larger TV in the lounge Same lift been out of service for the last two years we have visited, could be coincidence but I doubt it.

Review 95:Location is great, friendly atmosphere.

Review 96:Early in the morning when the transports of laundry and other equipment and food for the restaurant took place in the corridors it was a terrible noise. Theese wagons need rubber wheels that make the transports silent, or a double door in every roon with a treashold at the door entrance to stop the noise of as well departing guest rolling their suitcases towards the tiled floors. It was impossible to sleep after 7.00 in the morning.

Review 97:Excellent food at the restaurant and and excellent breakfast. Nice and cosy rooms, lovely view from the rooms large public areas with sofas and chairs, log fires. Pleasant and helpful staff and the hotel had a personal "aura". I will come back again.

Review 98:As always - we have had a wonderful holiday at the Zyriab. Excellent comfort and value. Location superb. Changing facilities before and after checking in/out - excellent and makes all the difference to journeys. Thank you!

Review 99:The room was way too hot, and the beds in the room were too stiff. But worth it for the facilities location and the awesome breakfast.

Review 100:I couldn't have asked for a better location.

Review 101:The one thing you ant after a hard day's skiing is a hot bath. 1st night ran a bath at 7.00pm, called reception to say we had no hot water, maintenance arrived and said everyone was using the hot water so to wait a bit. Waited until 9.30pm still no hot water. Next night same thing happened. Hotel did try to call me during the day but for some strange reason did not leave a message? Last night to make sure I had a hot bath I ran it at 5.30pm just using the hot tap and then was able to still get in a hot bath at 6.30pm. Complained to manager when I left asking for a discount on the invoice but was only offered a later check out, which was of little use as we were skiing all day!!!!! Not impressed and won't be staying at hotel again.

Review 102:Stayed here twice before, goo hotel, central location.

Review 103:Not having WIFI in rooms just in hallway.

Review 104:The hotel has had a refurb- bathrooms are really nice and so much hot water for a lovely soak after a day skiing. Excellent position for the ski lifts and close to bars restaurants. Parking really close in the underground car park.

Review 105:No WIFI function in the rooms only in the lounge.

Review 106:Very good location, beautiful view from the rooms, restaurant and lobby. When the weather was bad they lit cozy fire in the fireplaces in the lounge-bar area.

Review 107:Good choice for breakfast. Staff very helpful and accommodating as cutour stay short by 1 night as weather was awful and unable to ski butdidn't charge us for it despite the short notice.

Review 108:Booked double room but said they were busy so could only give us a twin. Our friends also had the same.

Review 109:Great location. Good size rooms, well heated. Good breakfast selection.

Review 110:If I were staying longer, I would have liked Wifi in my room so I could work for a few hours in the quiet.

Review 111:I liked the friendly team at the hotel who went out of their way to help. Spoke English (or German well) too. The lovely breakfast, great and varied choice. Delicious Coffee from the coffee machine.

Review 112:The gala dinner. We were charged full price for our 15 year old son although he wasn't served some of the dishes as they contained some kind of alcohol. Drinks were included but again as he is underaged, all he had was a few coca colas. When we questioned them about this, we were told that we should have advised them of his age even though when we booked the hotel, his age was clearly stated. Again we questioned the fact that he was not served certain dishes and this time the manageress informed us that in Spain, at 11 years, a child is not a child but an adult. Strangely, it is the same for the ski lift passes. Anyway at 138 euros p.p. It is highway robbery. I have personally stayed in this hotel 5 times but I will never stay here again. Another thing is the wifi they advertise. They shouldn't because it hardly ever works. Barend Weijdom, Portugal

Review 113:The bar & restaurant staff were good and very friendly.

Review 114:It would be better if wifi was available in the bedrooms. The main drawback with this hotel is the cost which is very high but it is just about worth it given all the positive aspects above.

Review 115:This was our second stay here. This hotel is in a superb location with outstanding views, great breakfast and good facilities for families. The rooms are very comfortable if a little small. The lounge area is a playground for kids and a meeting place for all those who want to connect with the internet as it is the only place with free wifi - it is a shame there is not wifi in all rooms, although this does actually create a lovely family atmosphere in this area. The hotel has dedicated parking - but it is not cheap - 20 euros per day. The best aspect is that the hotel is within close walking distance of all the ski amenities, including the ski-lifts. Breakfast is impressive and has all you could wish for - except really hot water to make a decent cup of tea - stick to the coffee!

Review 116:We went for a drink after our meal on Christmas eve about 10.40 pm. We were served in the bar area by a female member of staff and then at 10.55 a male member of staff came up to our table switched off the table light, rudely demanded we pay and told us to move from the bar area with no offer of help. We said we were not happy with his manner and he replied ´I have a family as well to celebrate Christmas eve with`. We pointed out to him that he was in the customer service business and indirectly we paid his salary and he could be more courteous about asking us to leave. He did not care at all and just shrugged his shoulders! His sleeves were rolled up and he was just not bothered! His name was Augustine. We hope this is just a one bad experience at the Ziryab, otherwise we will not be staying there again.

Review 117:Situated near the lifts, a comfortable hotel with good buffet breakfast.we have stayed at the Ziryab many times and have always enjoyed our stay - sadly this time the customer service was spoilt by one member of staff who should NOT be working in customer service, especially at Christmas time!

Review 118:The bar staff on the night of the 24th were rude and quite obviously deeply resentful that they had to work that night. Paying guests however had chosen to spend Christmas in a nice hotel expecting a nice atmosphere with a fully operating bar. Not good enough.

Review 119:The beds are comfortable, as are the rooms. Breakfast was also generous with plenty of choice.

Review 120:Can't enter the hotel with your ski/snowboard gear and boots, have to let everything on the lockers that are in the garage a little far off from the hotel, each locker barely accommodates 3 snowboards and boots... everything was ice cold in the morning afterwards and the boots drenched, the hotel parking rates are the same of the normal parking no benefit there. wifi only on the main room

Review 121:Good rooms, good breakfast, near the lift to the snow.

Review 122:Very clean and friendly : best rooms at a skiing hotel we have had: bar staff very good and friendly: free ski lockers next to lift to Ski Gondola: great views

Review 123:Tiled floors although hygenic do not have much sound insulation.

Review 124:location of hotel near centre of resort and easy access to lifts and free ski lockers. View from public areas and drinks during happy hour good value. Large breakfast buffet to satisfy anybody.

Review 125:Nothing.

Review 126:Hotel Staff are friendly Great Location Ski lockers are just under the main lift, so you can walk in your trainers through the garage You can buy your lift passes from the hotel Hotel is lovely and warm Breakfast is great

Review 127:breakfast: the automatic coffee machine was malfunctioning during the whole stay failing to provide hot water!

Review 128:Good room, good lounge, good bar, perfect location

Review 129:The bedroom was noisy, mainly from waterworks in neighbouring rooms;breakfast (18 Euros!!) was spoiled by the lack of hot water after 8.30 -too many people using two small machines; dinner and the hotel stay wasoverpriced.

Review 130:The hotel is well-appointed in 'period' style. It is directlyaccessible from the underground car park, and is a short walk from theski lifts.

Review 131:Size of room when booking for 3 people in 1 room. We know they have large family rooms and requested one but were not given. Cleanliness was not fantastic in our room my wife found long black hair in her bed, not good when she is blonde.

Review 132:Proximity to slopes and lounge areas

Review 133:The hotel recommends Al Andalus ski hire, who offer a 20% discount forhotel guests. Don't use them. We waited for over 30 minutes whilethey fitted out a group, and then were told we would have to wait whilethey dealt with another group, and were extremely off-hand about it. Weleft and went to Iglu where we had excellent service straight away andthey were 20% cheaper then the Al Andalus discounted rate!

Review 134:A fantastic hotel for skiing, in the main square of the resort and closeto the gondala lift. Even better the hotel provides guests with a skilocker right at the gondala, so no having to tramp around with skis andboots. Hotel itself is very comfortable, spotlessly clean and with veryhelpful staff. All the receptionists speak good English. Only ate at thehotel for breakfast, which was an extensive buffet with quantity andquality both good. We will definitely stay here again. Just a tip -rather than drive up to the resort and chance difficult drivingconditions, we parked at Granada bus station (lots of free streetparking) and caught the excellent ski bus up to the resort. Only 10€return a person, compared to 18€ a night to park in the resort.

Review 135:No internet in the bedrooms and on this trip the food was not up to the same standard as before

Review 136:I liked the relaxed atmosphere of the hotel and the central position of all the facilities

The Fine Print

Please note that the Plaza de Andalucia parking located next to the hotel offers direct access from the -2 level.
