Reviews for The Pavement Palace
Review 1:Nothing , it was perfect.
Review 2:We loved the general ambiance the style of decor, and the coziness of the space. It was very relaxing and quiet, whilst being at the centre of the town and close to all facilities
Review 3:Superb hospitallity by the owener. The best location in the town. Very clean and spacious place. The kitchen is very convenient and fully equipped for self catering.
Review 4:More a personal preference than a negative - the bed is stunning but the mattress itself is incredibly hard resulting in us both having neck / back ache but that is purely our preference etc and could be perfect for other people.
Review 5:Perfect location, right in the centre of Hay. Beautiful property inside with thoughtful design and antique items. Everything provided for a lovely stay - fire was a lovely feature. The owners were very thoughtful too.
Review 6:Teeny downside is the no parking but there was a pay and display car park for just £3.20 for 24 hours and we did find the free car park just down the road which was fine. Unfortunately, parking is a nightmare in most rural locations but it certainly wont stop us from returning.
Review 7:Absolutely amazing! A gorgeous flat in the middle of the town - so handy for the shops and beautiful river walks. Exceeded our expectations in terms of location, size, decoration and amenities.
Review 8:The skylight blind was tricky to close.
Review 9:This beautifully decorated and thoughtfully designed apartment was a vintage-style haven. Delightful interior, huge comfy bed, stylish bathroom and a warm and relaxing living room. Highly rated!
Review 10:A spacious and aesthetically pleasing flat right in the middle of town. It was a great place to come back to after a long walk to relax at the end of the day, and it was perfectly located in the town to visit the bookshops and enjoy an evening meal in a local pub.
Review 11:the bells, very loud, ring every 15 minutes day and night-was worn out after 2 nights and glad to get home but would stay again-with earplugs!
Review 12:gave us great ideas for renovating our house!
Review 13:Nothing wrong with the apartment but shame about the clock tower chiming, though didn't spoil our stay, we're just not used to it!
Review 14:Overall larger than expected, lovely place, really comfortable, private and convenient for the town, and walks
Review 15:Some may find the kitchen/bathroom downstairs a problem-as we live in a three story house the stairs were no problem to us
Review 16:The location was perfect-right in the centre. The quality of the finish of the flat and furnishings was excellent. I loved the interesting lighting and decoration.
Review 17:Unless you required chintz, I cannot see why anyone wouldn't love this flat.
Review 18:We loved the central location, the helpfulness of the owner, the beauty and calm of the flat and the thoughfully chosen provisions and extras. Our six year old loved the swinging chair.
Review 19:We found it slightly difficult to find the apartment at first and to contact the owner to arrange a meeting but that was due to the lack of mobile signal in the area.
Review 20:The whole apartment felt warm and comfortable from the moment we arrived. Everything we could have needed was there for us. It was the most enjoyable stay away from home I have had. It was almost difficult to go out and enjoy the town as we just wanted to stay curled up indoors!
Review 21:We couldn't work the tv but that may have been us as we got the dvd to work.
Review 22:Really central location and well equipped. The overall feel is interesting and quaint. Wood burner worked well and there was a good selection of staples in the kitchen including fresh coffee.
Review 23:The parking was an inconvenience with restricted parking on the streets but there is car parking a five mins walk away.
Review 24:A fantastic property nestled in the heart of Hay on Wye. Perfect for a relaxing romantic retreat. The interior is stunning and thoughtfully organised with refreshments, toiletries, and a well stocked log burner. It was a pleasure to stay and we quickly relaxed and had a wonderful weekend. We would love to return. Thank you.
Review 25:No hanging chair when we stayed! Seriously, that's it.
Review 26:The apartment is beautifully modernised yet keeps its perfect period piece atmosphere. The location is marvellous, right in the centre of town, and was great for a couple with some differing interests - I could browse in the book and other shops to my heart's content while my husband relaxed in the apartment when his interest waned! And the upstairs loo is possibly the cutest I've ever seen....
Review 27:Great care has been taken over the furnishings and provision of this apartment. Building has been beautifully restored and converted. All you need for a memorable trip.
Review 28:Nothing! Only negative, might be that for an older person, the stairs from ground floor kitchen and bathroom are quite steep.
Review 29:Quirky, hidden away above an antique shop on the Pavement. Feel you are entering another world away from the hustle and bustle. Beautifully equipped. Well thought out planning. Interesting little features give this place a continental feel. Owner was easily contacted if you had any queries. Warm and comfortable. A truly hidden gem.
Review 30:This place was amazing. Cosy, comfortable with everything you could need for a weekend stay. The bed was so comfortable and the kitchen was fully equipt. Loved everything about this place!
Review 31:The apartment is incredibly cosy, well appointed and central. The wood burning stove a big plus and made for some romantic evenings in. Hay is just lovely and we enjoyed some great walks as well as pottering around the town. My boyfriend left his jumper in the flat and the owner couldn't have been more helpful in returning it by post.
Review 32:There are only two minor suggestions for improvement. One is to provide a small waste paper basket for upstairs, the other is to supply a tray- to help port meals and drinks from the kitchen. But we managed fine!
Review 33:Everything about this flat was wonderful. We had a lovely stay. The calming ambiance of the lounge and bedroom helped us to quickly unwind.
Review 34:Bathroom was on ground floor and bedroom was on first floor, although there is a v.small loo off the bedroom.
Review 35:The central location and that everything in the accommodation worked! The owner was very helpful in suggesting places and restaurants to visit, and also where there was free all day parking.
Review 36:Nothing
Review 37:The Pavement Palace offers a haven, right in the heart of Hay 0n Wye, with easy access to fabulous food, brilliant bookshops, quirky independent shops and the most amazing array of local produce at the Thursday market. James, the owner, couldn't have been more helpful.
Review 38:For light sleepers the vicinity of the clock tower striking the half hours might be a problem
Review 39:Clean, comfortable, and fantastically located beautiful little 'palace' at the centre of the village. Everything you could possibly need was already in the apartment which we fell in love with.
Review 40:This is a minor point that didn't interrupt a gorgeous stay in the Palace at all but the parking facilities as in all cities and towns are a pain, and we parked the car firstly outside the Palace to offload our luggage etc and then returned the car to the main large car park to the north of the town with minimum cost and fuss, but that was the only minor discomfort.
Review 41:The Pavement Palace cannot be ever disregarded for people and travellers who are arranging a visit to gorgeous Hay. The Palace is in the centre of Hay and walking distance to all amenities, from pubs and restaurants to the odd Book shop and quirky shops. The Palace had everything to offer and more. All that we wanted was catered for; a huge array of kitchen ware and utensils, a dishwasher and washing facilities were excellent. Upstairs had the luxury lounge and just stunning old beams with comfort in every corner of the room, a hanging wicker chair for fun and reading whilst gazing out of the window to passers by in Hay. A comfy large sofa and chaise long to relax. We loved Hay and after travelling abroad for 2monthes, travelling for a weekend away from being picked up in Birmingham Airport it was a delight and a pleasure to relax in Hay, relaxing in the Palace and having a fantastic time. Thank you Pavement Palace and we will return.
Review 42:Absolutely fabulous. The name says it all about this quirky, stunning immaculately clean flat. Although right in the middle of Hay on Wye its very quiet. Lite the log burner, curl up on the sofa and enjoy the comfy cosy atmosphere. The bathroom is lovely and warm with instant hot water and the kitchen houses everything one needs on a self catering basis. The giant bed is amazing and the crisp white bed linen and fluffy white towels was such a luxury. I cannot recommend it highly enough. Thank you James for sharing your Palace with my niece and I.
Review 43:Personally for me the bed was too firm but that is for each persons opinion.
Review 44:It was an excellent place for a get away. Close to the action of the little town and showed Wales perfectly. The apartment was rustic and comfortable
Review 45:Superb location, all mod-cons provided, superb layout and decor, quirky old fittings, beautiful old beams, bright and airy, a perfect home-from-home and base for exploring the local area (and the town's many bookshops!)
Review 46:Sense of history but mod cons. Very comfortable
Review 47:Not applicable.

Review 69:Beautiful apartment full of period features but with all the mod cons and a really luxurious feel.
Review 70:Wanted to live there - utterly brilliant apartment.
Review 71:We could not recommend this place more highly.A great location, hidden beside an antiques shop next to the clock tower in the middle of town. A stunning, cosy get away. Everything has been thought out, from Neal's Yard bathroom products, espresso machine, great wifi, gorgeous bowl of fruit on arrival and very helpful information pack including a handy map! Pavement Palace has the perfect mix of modern and rustic. We will definitely visit again, and there is easily space for a second couple in the main sitting room.
Review 72:Very minor: We missed having a teapot!
Review 73:This apartment is beautifully refurbished in an older building in town. It was most comfortable and fun to be right down town in this lovely town with lots of good restaurants/pubs. While not advertised it had a washer and dryer and wireless.
Review 74:The property was gorgeous, a real pleasure to spend time in, and a very cozy, comfortable place to stay. The property has a luxurious bathroom, quaint kitchen, comfortable bed and a lovely main room. Perfect for two for a pair of days.
Review 75:Absence of strong standard reading lamp in the living room.
Review 76:Tons of character, timber beams and antique furniture but not lacking any modern conveniences.
Review 77:The clock down the road striking every 15 minutes!
Review 78:The flat is homely, cosy, so comfortable and everything in it is of quality. We loved all the quirky knick knacks around the place and all the attention to detail. Fantastic bed!
Review 79:Parking a little distance away. Not very easy to find.
Review 80:Beautiful quirky apartment in a great spot, right in the centre of Hay. Comfortable and cosy with interesting features to make it more memorable than a bland hotel room. I loved the wood burner and the swinging seat. Great value for money and the owners were happy to help with anything I needed.
Review 81:Absolutely nothing. We loved it!
Review 82:The place felt like home the moment we stepped in and the fireplace just made our trip that much more amazing! The flat was in the centre of a lovely little town Hay on Wye, and the host was friendly and accomodating. We would definitely recommend anyone visiting brecon beacon to stay here.
