Reviews for HG Maribel
Review 1:Breakfast was fine, but dinner was pretty abysmal, something really needs to be done regarding this.
Review 2:We loved the views over the ski slopes. Everywhere was warm
Review 3:The food in the restaurant was disappointing, poor quality and portion sizes for the money.
Review 4:Spacious room, revived a family room when we only booked a twin. Fabulous views, skied straight into the slopes.
Review 5:Slow wifi No mushrooms at breakfast poor choice unless you ask you don't get But a 8 out of 10 for me
Review 6:Lovely hotel and staff You can get eggs and bacon but you must ask for it no extra charge at breakfast time wifi is there but slow don't try an stream or face time only 1 bbc news channel no other English TV
Review 7:A cosy but very comfortable hotel, almost with a family atmosphere, although belonging to a Hotel chain. The location to the piste (the "Maribel piste") makes it a unique spot, not only in the Sierra Nevada, but all over Europe. The place is a cosy exception in the otherwise quite dull urbanicacion. I would not hesitate to go there again.
Review 8:The hotel overall is in need of renovation. Apparently they have already done the double bedrooms but the bigger bedroom type that I was staying in was still very dated. The changing room is quite cramped and you can't fit ski boots in the lockers.
Review 9:The staff is very friendly and I really liked the atmosphere of the hotel - very cosy and easy-going. Some may not appreciate the dinner menu but it was enough for me and of good quality. The WiFi coverage and speed is very good and it's great to walk off the piste after a hard day straight into the hotel.
Review 10:The only 'bad thing' was that check in was only available from 15:00 which is ridiculous, having driven a few hours away and had to wait several hours for my room. Since I arrived early and I didn't have my room to get changed into my gear the only possibility which I was offered was to get changed in the lobby bathroom which smelled bad and was uncomfortable. I hope they change this policy to an earlier check-in atleast from 11am!
Review 11:How warm the rooms and the whole hotel was in general. Really friendly staff Amazing breakfast buffet! I was able to just stick my skis on and just start skiing right outside the hotel! Free parking just infront of the hotel
Review 12:Didn't have a map of the village - it's quite a confusing place when you first arrive as it is on so many levels and all the roads are one way! Perhaps more frequent shuttle buses to and from hotel?
Review 13:Very friendly, funny staff who were so helpful! Gorgeous view across the pistes from our balcony. Could have sat there all day, people watching. Lovely to doze in the late afternoon listening to the wild giggles of kids taboganning under our balcony. Really nice ambience in the sitting rom and great food in the restaurant. Staff worked sooo hard - new years eve there they all were and then at 7 the next morning, all the confetti, wild wigs, horns and crackers etc cleared up!
Review 14:No mirror in bedroom
Review 15:Furnishings Open fire
Review 16:Food was terrible. Paid 100euro per person for an inedible dinner. Toilet was dirty.
Review 17:Ski in ski out. Friendly and helpful staff. Possibly the best hotel from the point of view of location, overlooking the slopes (front-line).
Review 18:Warm welcome, room upgrade without asking.
Review 19:View on snow Fields very beautiful Authentic
Review 20:Could of done with tea, coffee facilities in the room
Review 21:Comfort, nice room, lovely restaurant
Review 22:Only complaint was that the room was too warm at night for sleeping!
Review 23:Could of been cleaner.
Review 24:The location and views were excellent
Review 25:Nothing
Review 26:position to the slopes for skiing in and out, comfort of rooms and Hotel with fire.Son loved sledging right outside the hotel when runs were closed
Review 27:Room was nothing like expected. Very dated hotel was way too hot thermostats broken. Rooms stank of sewage hot water was brown. Use of spa was expensive and all closed off this should have been free access what a waste of money for them to spend to make a lovely spa for pictures and no one to use it. Breakfast eggs were burnt and fatty bacon carton orange juice! Fruit is so cheap here and freshly squeezed for a 4* is not much to ask for. Visit this resort every year and wanted to try a new hotel. Won't be visiting here again as was very over priced for what you get!
Review 28:Staff friendly ski in and out with locker was great
Review 29:Fantastic service, greta value for money, direct access to snow, sledging possible after 5 pm outside of the hotel, excellent breakfast, friendly staff...We had a lovely time
Review 30:Since we wanted to ski, we had to go down to the main plaza to get the equipment. While there is a ski rental next door, it means we have to carry everything with us to the plaza which is a bit tiresome. The hotel restaurant food was average.
Review 31:It's a very nice property and the staff are very friendly and helpful
Review 32:Bed was hard & rooms too warm in the night - really nothing to moan about though ;-)
Review 33:Fantastic position ski in/out, great to no traipsing to the ski lifts / gondola Very friendly staff always willing to help, excellent food/evening meal. Simple rooms but clean & tidy. Stopped in a piste facing room this time - beautiful views! This was our second time at The Maribel and won't be the last
Review 34:The restaurant and especially the children menus could be better.
Review 35:The suite we stayed in was excellent with a fantastic view. The staff was very helpfull and polite.
Review 36:In need of refurbishment. Windows and doors in room draughty and cold. Mini bus operated by hotel finishes too early.
Review 37:Location to slope. The meal offered was of good quality and good value.
Review 38:The male reception was not helpful at all. Whenever we ask questions, the answer is mostly "not possible", though we find out later that it was possible. The shuttle bus was gross, week old pizza was left to rot.
Review 39:Don't need ski lifts to get to the slope, you are on the slope, but far away from the stores and restaurants. The service in the restaurant was good.
Review 40:We did not realise that there was limited transport down to the village at night. We did not enjoy the one evening meal we ate at the hotel. Its presentation and standard was not good. Breakfast was good.
Review 41:We were very comfortable at the Mirabel Hotel. The staff and facilities were excellent and could not be faulted. Our room and view -were delightful
Review 42:Couldn't get any food until 730 in the evening Food was expensive in hotel Drinks also very expensive No where else within sensible walking distance to eat/drink Bathroom smelled of sewage We were not offered hot breakfast, and when we asked were told no, then every body else that came in had hot offered to them ( we were first in) Mini bar only had a coke in it (I didn't even realise it was free until after, so I was looking for waster for thirst!)
Review 43:Lovely courtyard out front for kids to play Real fire in the bar at night View of ski slope from room Spacious room Clean Good breakfast
Review 44:First two days hotel had an icy car park. Everybody had cars stuck. Me twice. When complained the hotel had excuses too well prepared. Small car park 4 star hotel, should have been cleaned. Toilet didn't work in our room. No coat hangers in the room. TV remote didn't work properly. Room was cold, ok for us but we had a baby. No room service! 4 star hotel. 15 euros extra to use the Sauna.
Review 45:Staff were very good, particularly in the restaurant, very helpful and nothing to much trouble to help you with. Very professional. - They moved us to a bigger room without us asking. - great views of skiing and skiing lifts, mountains. lovely real fire
Review 46:Just spent christmas there and although the staff tried their best there seemed to be a lack of management. Food quality was poor and the menu for children was inadequate to say the least. The website advised there was a games room however there was no such thing basically no entertainment at all for our children. Darts, board games, colouring books..etc..don't cost very much and can really help a young family on a day of bad weather when you can't go out of the hotel. The entire building and rooms were extremely hot, although we had a thermostatic control in the room it had no effect at all. In addition we had no room safe for our entire 3 day stay even though we advised the staff on day 1. We did not feel we got value for money at all, very disappointing we were looking forward to an exciting good quality hotel for our children's first visit to a ski resort (4 star hotel) and we felt very let down.
Review 47:Nice location
Review 48:I was unable to regulate temperature in the room, as switching controls on radiator didn't do much. The blanket was quite thin, therefore, eventually I got quite cold during the night.
Review 49:It was a proper 4 star hotel experience. We stayed on Christmas Eve and hotel staff was just amazing to deal with. We appreciated the pick up from Pradollano square, lovely Russian receptionist and restaurant staff. All of them done very good job. We also liked sauna and the fact that it comes with big private area for the time of booking, it was worth the money we paid. Hotel was very cozy, just wonderful Christmas experience. Our room was spacious and overlooking the snow slopes - very cool. Good breakfast. Amazing location!
Review 50:Breakfast is not the best and should have wifi in the rooms.
Review 51:Ski in, ski out. 10mins walk down to pradollano. Room was great and helpful staff. No extra cost for parking. Have stayed here before and will return.
Review 52:Ski lifts closed on second day so had difficulty getting back to hotel.Eventually got taxi which cost 10euro. Would have been too difficult towalk with skis. Got hotel at reasonable price, advertised price 900euro, def not worth this. Not 4 star.
Review 53:Ski hire beside hotel. Able to ski from hotel although this not muchgood if you are complete beginner.
Review 54:The help we received when the snow arrived .the cars were all dug outand the staff took us to obtain the wheel skins and could not have beenmore helful. Lovely to see the children ski down past the hotel reallyenjoyed it thanks to everyone. The staff in the restaurant were amazing.Hope to come again
Review 55:food wasn't great, not very child-friendly for young ones
Review 56:the staff were excellent - nothing was too much trouble, they even helped dig our car out of the snow. Rooms very comfortable.
Review 57:We had a room that had a view of the courtyard in front of the hotel of 3-4 other hotels. This view was nice, but the rooms located on the back side of the hotel had AWESOME views of the ski slopes. Our friends got a room with the cool view.... if we go back I'll remember to ask (or ask in advance) for a room with a view of the slopes.
Review 58:The location of this hotel was fantastic... especially going in blind and not knowing how this mountain town was going to be laid out. I had read many reviews about people wanting to be closer to the square at the bottom of the town, but while were there it seemed like that area was drastically overcrowded. This hotel sits right in the middle of the town, on the extreme side of the switchback towards the ski hill... which means we could ski in and out of the back door to the hotel. There was also a van to take people to and from the gondola station, or there was also a chair lift that had a stop station right on the hotel street. There were a few wonderful restaurants located on the switchbacks above and below ours and they were fantastic. The inside of the hotel was also really warm and cozy... we were with another family and we could sit by the fire and play cards and drink hot chocolate after a long day of skiing. It was a great trip!
Review 59:Slight issue over undercooked chicken in the restaurant, instead ofreplacing it the waiting staff attempted to force my daughter to eat it.Apart from this small incident the hotel is great.
Review 60:Location as always, this is the 2nd time we have stayed here. Staff arereally helpful, they relocated us from a small room with no view to alarger room with a great view, with no fuss!! Food was good in thehotel, anybody who complains about the walk to the resort center shouldnot visit a ski resort!
Review 61:Photos of the rooms on web page miss leading not as luxurious as led tobelieve! No tea coffee in rooms! Spa and jacuzi not inclusive.
Review 62:The whole experience!
Review 63:Extra charges for Spa use (Sauna, jacuzzi should be included in roomrate), decor could do with a facelift.
Review 64:Friendly staff, good food at reasonable prices, great locationfor skiing.
Review 65:A little tired Terrace great but needed a few sun beds
Review 66:Ideal ski in ski out Peaceful location Food good
Review 67:Room was a bit cold.

Review 83:Fantastic service and very cozy lovely warm hotel and very comfortable
Review 84:The hotel smelt like harsh chemicals and so did our room after it was cleaned.
