Reviews for Chateau Valandraud
Review 1:Everything was excellent!
Review 2:Everything was fantastic!! Valerie was wonderful. We felt so welcome and were encouraged to make ourselves completely at home. The photos do not do it justice. It really is much nicer even than it looks. We felt very pampered. Very pet friendly!
Review 3:despite prior correspondence and us being exactly on time - there was no-one there to let us into our room and spent 40 mins trying to contact housekeeper. Very lasser faire about whole of operation. Breakfast was a help yourself to lay your place (trying to locate items to use) and a very poor offering indeed. This is an honest review and not sour grapes. Owners are top wine producers and the care of visitors such as it is, is assigned to a visiting housekeeper. i.e not onsite Also 'Chateau V--' refers to wine produced there (NB mechanics under bedrooms which start at 8am) not the house which was a nice farm house.
Review 4:there is a nice view from the lounge window but this did not compensate for the empty barn experience and disinterested/ non attending staff & poor breakfast
Review 5:We loved staying at Chateau Valandraud. Valerie was super nice and helpful with check-in, and very attentive to our every needs for breakfast. We had a tour of the winery given by Julien, who was very knowledgeable about the chateau, and wine in general. The grapevines have turned beautiful shades of yellow, orange and red - it is the perfect time to be touring the Saint Emilion area! All in all, a wonderful experience!
Review 6:The location is marvelous, with beautiful views of the vineyards. It's a short drive from the small medieval town of Saint-Emilion and well located to tour Bordeaux. We were lucky to catch catch the harvest and watch the processing of the grapes
Review 7:We got totally lost when returning in the evening from a dinner in Saint Emilion. Total darkness. A bit scary.
Review 8:The morning sun shining on the vineyard outside our window. A Grand Cru experience!
Review 9:The ONLY fault would be the room we had upstairs has beautiful beams that are very low in places causing some bumps for sure.
Review 10:The vineyard is beautiful and peaceful. We loved meeting people at the breakfast table each morning and sharing travel stories. We were able to get great advice for the rest of our trip.
Review 11:It was of average quality at the price of a high quality property. It had an odd and unpleasant smell upon entrance. The too Was of good size but with a low ceiling - on which I banged my head several times. There is little attention to the details. It lacks the charm of a B&B and lacks the facilities and presence of a full on hotel.
Review 12:The setting and proximity to St Emilion
Review 13:Nothing
Review 14:The position of the Chateau is idyllic Very quite with wonderful views yet only 5 minutes from the centre of St Emilion and surrounded by numerous other estates
Review 15:No-one there when we arrived after 7 pm. However host readily contactable by phone.
Review 16:Tranquil location, surrounded by vineyards. Beautiful guest lounge. Host kindly returned to us by post some forgotten items.
Review 17:We were a group of 8 people staying there for the weekend for a wedding in St Émilion. Amazing location, great view, great pool/terrace, quite a modern interior design (Japanese influenced). But most of all the staff is just fantastic (mother and her daughter) - very patient, efficient and understanding (they even ironed our shirts and suits before the wedding!!!) 10/10
Review 18:Very nice stay! We arrived very late and the stuff was very kind of showing us how to get into the hotel and find our room. Breakfast was very good, the room was very nice too. Easy to park a car. The Wi-Fi was good in the first floor.
Review 19:It's not easy to find the Chateau as it cannot be located in GPS.
Review 20:The Chateau is very new and modern. Bed is very comfortable and breakfast is excellent.
Review 21:Slow internet connection, but really, who needs one there...
Review 22:The location, the wine... The place is not the best hotel in town, is not far from St. Emilion but you will need a taxi. But those vines, and that place, are part of the history of modern wine making....They are happy for you to cook, and some cheese and a simple home cooked dinner on that terrace is quite something.
Review 23:nothing
Review 24:Staff integrity - i left a bag there and only realised this an hour's drive away. i was told my bag was found when i called the hotel and was told i could come and collect my bag at anytime. nothing missing in the bag. even without this happening I would have highly recommended this hotel - room size was good with nice bathroom and aircon. beautiful setting and view, and next to a famous chateau (pressac) - will visit again.
Review 25:Cool, comfortable and well equipped. Beautiful views over the vineyards . We were made very welcome and breakfast was freshly prepared to our order. It was really fabulous
Review 26:The hot tub was not working. That is the only complaint.
Review 27:Beautiful chateau! The room was comfortable and the view is great! Make sure to schedule a private wine tasting. The hostess was very accommodating but be prepared to speak French. Very good location.
Review 28:Wifi didn't always work.
Review 29:Beautiful rooms, comfortable sitting room and stunning views across the vineyards and valley. Friendly staff, quiet location, great breakfast and yummy wine!
Review 30:Loved everything however the sheets and towels were very rough. The pool is above ground.
Review 31:Friendly staff, incredible view, beautiful room. Loved this place! Picture perfect!
Review 32:great house overlooking vineyard Trusted to have full use of house including fridge in kitchen and wine fridge .told to write down what we had. Great wine tasting by julienne Chateau was simply superb
Review 33:Nothing, it's a few miles outside of St Emilion, which was just right for us.
Review 34:The staff went out of their way to serve a great breakfast "extra early" (7am) so we could make our morning flight in Bordeaux. Nice location in a very sharp vineyard. Great common living room, kitchen available for guest use, Crisp "euro" style interior with big guest rooms and huge tiled shower (a 1st for us in France).
Review 35:Internet needs upgrade
Review 36:Location on the Vineyard Stunning Very comfortable Staff very helpful even did our washing. This is very quiet and you are left alone, depends on you if this positive or not
Review 37:Little bit difficult to find. No wine tasting in the chateau.
Review 38:Superb views across the vineyard, very helpful staff, clean and spacious room. You can use the kitchen any time you want, nice breakfast.
Review 39:wifi was unreachable unless standing close to room door
Review 40:Very well attended by Valerie. Location, although not in very town, closer enough. Room clean, nice and with wonderful views. Breakfast was a luxury for its composición and environment.
Review 41:Wifi can be a little patchy.
Review 42:Beautiful setting amongst the vines. Fabulous sitting room and terrace with great views. Spotlessly clean with brilliant staff. Good breakfast and use of well equipped kitchen.
Review 43:There was nothing I would change about this hotel.
Review 44:The location could not be better, surrounded as far as the eye can see by rolling hills of vineyards. The first thing I noticed was the silence. It's not near any towns and The pool was fantastic for the hot afternoons and the hot tub was amazing at night, stargazing and watching the moon rise over the hills. It was the most relaxing hotel I think I've ever stayed in. There were no staff after about 3-4pm, they just leave you to the house and there's a fridge and kitchen full of wine, one bottle only 5 euros. The hotel was spotless, very light and airy, and had a huge living room with comfy sofas and hundreds of books where you can relax. There are also a couple of nice tables on the patio where we had an evening picnic and breakfast, overlooking the vineyards of course! Before the lady left she made sure we were happy and as we were sunbathing by the pool she brought out a beautiful coffee for us, no charge. I really liked the fact we were left alone - you can walk through the vineyards, and it's only a (lovely) 10 min drive to St. Emelion. Then in the morning the staff return and prepare an excellent French breakfast with everything you can think of. The staff are all very friendly and make you feel that they really want you to enjoy yourself and relax.
Review 45:Very nice location. The hotel is built right in the middle of the vineyard and from the salon, we can enjoy the panoramic view. Very nice shering kitchen.
Review 46:Contacting staff upon arrival requires a European cell phone, which we didn't know. If you arrive at night, finding the entrance can be a bit of challenge, and a European GPS is a great help.
Review 47:Pleasant and helpful staff. Very complete "French" breakfast. The views are beautiful, and the rooms are wonderfully quiet. Public rooms are pleasant and comfortable and well designed. The kitchen is accessible by guests, and there is an honor system for purchasing wine and other libations. Some basics are provided on a complimentary basis, nice touch.
Review 48:We arrived here on the first night of our holiday. The room was excellent and the hotel within striking distance of St Emilion. Particularly praise goes to Elodie who went the extra mile to help my fiancé source replacement medication after she left hers at home.
Review 49:Customer care - if you leave anything at this hotel and they insist you did not, offer a big reward. You'll be amazed at how quickly they'll find it.
Review 50:Bed was comfortable and breakfast was good.
Review 51:The chateau is a 15 minute drive from St Emilion and when we were there was surrounded by vines with grapes a few weeks away from vendage. We were warmly welcomes by the daughter of the family, Elodie, who was charming and helpful with a grace beyond her years. Ourn room was spacious, beautifully appointed and with the most wonderful bed! We slept like we were on a cloud. Everything, from the sumptuous guest room overlooking the vineyards and the terrace on which we could eat meals prepared by ourselves in the kitchen, was perfect. We could not fault Chateau V.
Review 52:Everything! Location, room, breakfast, jacuzzi.. It was prefect. We had a great trip! The free tour was an added bonus. Highly reccomend this place to other travelers. Visit me on Instagram @ecomakeupartist for more pics
Review 53:Great service, newly decorated rooms, beautiful views and a very good breakfast. We also had an opportunity to visit the wine cellar, very interesting tour guided by Julian prompted us to visit theirs wine shop in St Emilion to test wines produced at the Chateau Valandraud and we brought some wine home. Very professional attitude and service, we would not hesitate to recommend the Chateau to all. Beautiful place and very friendly people.
Review 54:No wine tasting on the estate, only in the town of Saint-Emilion.
Review 55:Beatiful an calm surroundings. Really nice and service minded staff. They helped us to reserve a table at a great restaurant. Wi-fi worked perfectly in the room. Great breakfeast.
Review 56:Immaculately clean, air conditioned room with excellent facilities. Beautiful lounge and deck. Very friendly staff and a a great kitchen to self cater.
Review 57:WiFi is very patchy! (All access points set on the same channel.)
Review 58:Great location with helpful staff willing to go the extra mile. The interesting people who were fellow guests! Great facilities!
Review 59:Perfect for couples and families, we'll definitely be going back! Breath taking views over, we had a wonderful night sipping wine and watching the sun set over the vineyards, just perfect.
Review 60:Slightly difficult to find location
Review 61:Great view of vineyard Staff very helpful Modern and clean rooms Quiet country setting Delicious breakfast Ample parking
Review 62:Mix-up over the vineyard tour meant we didn't get a chance to have tastings.
Review 63:All facilities - room and shared areas very comfortable, clean and very high standard. Loved the fact that we could prepare our own meals there so it felt like a home rather than a hotel. St Emilion very close and very beautiful
Review 64:pets seem to be allowed,
Review 65:It was a very good residence with personal approach. The setting is amazing, and you get a personal tour on the winery. The view from the terras is very peacefull, and one of the reaons you plan a visit in the St. Emilion region. Worth the price!

Review 115:We had a fantastic stay in Chateau Valandraud from start to finish. Thestaff that we met could not have been friendlier. The Chateau wasgorgeous - stunning setting surrounded by beautiful vineyards. We hadfull use of the kitchen which was very handy as we had our baby with us.We spent lots of time in the hottub relaxing and enjoying the view! Wewere brought on a tour of the vineyard and wine tasting which was anextra bonus! Location wise for us was great - near St Emilion but awayfrom the crowds. We had a car so it was easy to get around, althoughplenty of taxi recommendations for those wishing to go out to arestaurant at night and have a few drinks. Overall we could notrecommend this beautiful and relaxing chateau more highly, we willcertainly be back!
Review 116:The breakfast was absolutely dire, a stale croissant and rock hard bread with a few pots of jam, butter and cheap packaged cheese thrown on to the table. Coffee served from a tea pot and orange juice that arrived halfway through breakfast I have eaten better in hotels that charge €50. There was absolutely no attention to detail or presentation and the staff were just disorganised. The room was looking a little worn and at the price charged I expect more! The cheap clip on LED reading lights on the bed, just summed up the “couldn’t care attitude” of this Chateaux. It did make me laugh that a “high end Chateaux” should have half the Ikea furniture range in the lounge. Not what I expect to get at this price!! Thoroughly disappointed.
Review 117:Great views across the vineyard it looked like quality. The honesty bar in the kitchen had a good selection of house wines and the air con worked well.
