Reviews for Holly Lodge

Review 1:Breakfast was an interesting affair. We had three rooms but had slots to choose from which varied from room to room. Each room has its own numbered table so my poor father was meant to sit on his own. Latest option was 9am and if you choose that slot you feel rushed as they start cleaning around you with strong smelling cleaning products.

Review 2:Loved the tea coffee and biscuits, also complimentary beer sherry and bottled water. Breakfast was good quality and well cooked. Great location close to the centre of Alnwick. Beautiful garden. Very accommodating when we said we were cold. They turned the heating up and gave my dad a hot water bottle.

Review 3:Lip slightly shallow between shower and bathroom and partner managed to flood bathroom!!

Review 4:Everything was excellent - especially willingness to serve vegetarian cooked breakfast. Also lovely lounge with large TV - especially useful when rugby was on - partner sat in there and I watched TV in room. Availability of bottled water - I could go on.

Review 5:Very clean and comfortable accommodation, really enjoyed the full northumbrian breakfast every morning, there was also a good choice of fruit and cereals. The location is also excellent being just a short walk into the town centre.

Review 6:No negatives for this property !!

Review 7:Excellent central location to town centre. Nice quiet surroundings for a peaceful sleep. Made to feel very welcome by the owners and staff alike.

Review 8:The members of staff were very friendly, the lady who welcomed us recommended a few places for us to eat on the evening of our arrival, which we found very useful having never visited the location previously. The b&b was made to feel like a home from home, although we only stayed here for one night we felt completely relaxed straight away and would highly recommend this as a perfect location to the castle and gardens.

Review 9:There was nothing to dislike.

Review 10:The friendly welcome and creature comforts offered by way of free drinks of bottled water, beer and sherry together with "nibbles" etc., by hosts George and Jackie. The breakfasts were superb with a good variety of options. The cleanliness, the decor and the fittings of the accommodation. The willingness of assistance with selection of suitable eating places etc., within the area by the hosts. Overall a wonderful place to stay in Alnwick. A central location within easy reach of local tourist venues both within Alnwick and surrounding countryside.

Review 11:Nothing.

Review 12:Everything was great but the location was outstanding. Breakfast was fresh and cooked to order. The whole property was spotless. All staff were friendly and helpful.

Review 13:Small room, shower flooded ensuite, no access to wifi in room

Review 14:Location was great, close to town, hosts friendly, breakfast was good,.offered tea/coffee and home made cake in the lounge, which was lovely.

Review 15:Wi-fi did not work in the room at all! Eating out choice in Alnwick is not great, but that's not the B&B's fault!

Review 16:Accomodation and facilities.

Review 17:Nothing all was superb !!

Review 18:Just about everything ! ! The welcome we had was brill, with a delicious slice of home made cake & a cuppa just what we wanted after your journey .Just the best .

Review 19:Mostly very clean but shower head was grossly unclean. En-suite very small and bedroom overall small with doorless wardrobe. Not 'boutique ' as described.

Review 20:Friendly hostess with some nice additional touches (cold beer and water). Very easy walk into Alnwick.

Review 21:George & Jackie are a great couple, loads of fun but very professional attitude. Nothing was too much. All the staff are great and Jackie is a right case. So all in all we had an excellent stay and would deffinately go back again. Anyone looking for a B&B in that area could'nt go wrong with Holly Lodge.

Review 22:The wet room floor stood in water a little . Not a problem really-more annoying. But shower was superb .

Review 23:Everything and everyone. Owners/staff/food/accommodation/location.

Review 24:Spotless, comfortable, lashings of hot water and great food, coupled with friendly staff. Very impressed. have already recommended Holly Lodge to others.

Review 25:Everything was great.

Review 26:Great location great hosts, very friendly and knowledgeable about restaurants in the area. Breakfast was fantastic. Jackie and George have got it right, this is how all B&B's should be

Review 27:Couldn't get a wifi signal in the bedroom, but no great problem, can manage without it for 3 nights.

Review 28:Facilities would put many a 4 star hotel to shame regarding comfort and cleanliness.

Review 29:the location was very central and the staff very friendly. we could not have asked for more from the warm friendly greeting to the free bottles of water and sweets at the reception. The breakfasts were very tasty and filling

Review 30:Good quiet location but only few minutes walk from the town centre. Comfortable bedroom and wetroom shower. Resident's lounge. Good breakfast with local ingredients. Easy safe parking. Helpful welcoming owners.

Review 31:We were in the disabled room. I think because there were no other rooms available. The rooms above us were noises. We could hear the footsteps as if the flooring was wood. The toilet was loud when flushed and seemed to take ages to refill this was extremely loud. Especially in the early hours! The wet room was still wet when we checked in at 4pm and didn't appear to look that clean.

Review 32:Very homely. Good location for town centre and Alnwick Castle. Staff were friendly and helpfull.

Review 33:Nothing to dislike.

Review 34:We liked everything about this very pleasant bed and breakfast place. Alnwick is a great place to visit and your bed and breakfast accommodation was perfect. We would recommend Holly Lodge to anyone and indeed have already done so to friends.

Review 35:Nothing

Review 36:Breakfasts were well catered for whether you required Full English or Fruit & cereals. The location was quite and the garden was beautiful with a decked area to sit out in. The hosts were very welcoming and we were well looked after also they were both very knowledgeable about where to eat and places to visit.

Review 37:As there was only a shower curtain, the shower tended to flood part of the small bathroom so had to use towels to mop up. Wasn't room for a shower door but it would have been better with one.

Review 38:The breakfasts were outstanding, free bottled water, welcoming cake(s) and tea. Very comfortable lounge with complimentary sherry. Plenty of plugs in bedroom and the lighting was good. Well situated being only a few minutes walk from town. Excellent parking.

Review 39:Poor reception by female owner and not the GF room we booked [my wife had a recent hip operation] we were given a 1st Fl room

Review 40:Style of rooms, facilities and furnishing

Review 41:Wonderful B and B. Situated in a quiet location but only 5 minute walk into town. Immaculate room with luxury bathroom. Beds incredibly comfy! Lovely breakfast with lots of choice. Would highly recommend.

Review 42:There was nothing to dislike about Holly Lodge.

Review 43:Everything. People, location, breakfast, room and especially the bathroom.George and Jackie were so helpful about everything and her baking was superb. The garden was beautiful so nice to sit out in and relax. We were not leaving until after 5 at night and they told us to make use of the lounge and garden even though you had to be out of the room for ten. We were arriving early and they had our room ready for us and allowed us to keep our luggage there on day of departure. A lovely welcoming couple who did everything to make you feel welcome. We will definitely be going back next year.

Review 44:There was nothing to dislike at all.

Review 45:It's position centre for everything, staff were very efficient and of cause Management were just so friendly and helpful, it felt like a home from home holiday which was really lovely.

Review 46:Although there was an excellent choice of cooked breakfasts, and it was all beautifully presented and cooked, we sometimes felt rushed when eating as staff bustled around us clearing other tables! We had chosen the latest time offered to us, (8.45), but were usually out of the dining room just after 9, feeling pressured to do so as it seemed the staff wanted to get on!! A shame, as the food was definitely worth taking time over!

Review 47:An efficiently run and spotlessly clean guest house, with meticulous attention to detail and "extras" for guests such as sherry in the lounge and free bottled water. Good range of information about local places to visit and useful suggestions about where to eat.

Review 48:The room we booked was advertised as having a super king size bed but it had a double. We weren't given any teabags on our second day but we had some with us. We didn't get a choice as to how we wanted our eggs cooked.

Review 49:We liked the location and the room was clean and cosy. The complementary bottles of ice cold water was a nice touch.

Review 50:Our holiday ending

Review 51:The Room was, Spacious, Spotless, Comfortable, Quiet, with no creaking floorboards or slamming doors. The lounge was comfortable with access to large selection of books/magazines, and large TV. Entrance/reception has plenty of local information/attractions. Breakfast was prompt with excellent quality & choice. Has a lovely garden sitting area and ample safe parking for cars.

Review 52:Not applicable.

Review 53:Central for Alnwick and 5* accommodation. George and Jackie were great and could not do enough, Breakfast was excellent. The room was great with en-suite wet room which was spotless. Absolutely first class, we highly recommend Holly Lodge.

Review 54:As we arrived we were greeted by George the owner who was friendly ,professional and informative.Holly Lodge is a short walk to the centre of Alnwick and Alnwick castle/garden. There is a lot of info available about local places of interest and places to eat.Our room was very comfortable though a little on the snug side-it was great value for money-bed very comfortable -plenty of towels ,bottles of water and I am sure if we had any requests George would have sorted it out!

Review 55:We were made welcome from the moment we arrived and were offered a cup of tea and tasty home made cake in the guest lounge. Our dormer bedroom was spotless and tastefully decorated and our bed was really comfortable which gave us a good nights sleep. The en suite wet room was very clean with a powerful shower and we had ample fluffy white towels. The location is quiet with secure parking and is only 4 minutes walk to the town centre. George and Jackie were great friendly hosts and gave helpful information if we needed it. The reception area had lots of useful information for local attractions and recommended restaurants with menus available. We would recommend Holly Lodge to anyone wishing to stay in Alnwick.

Review 56:If being picky !! internet connection not good but not a problem

Review 57:Lovely welcome after long drive - first time I've been offered a free beer on arrival - gratefully received - good location and handy local info

Review 58:The church bells chiming every 15 minutes. No internet access possible through the wi-fi

Review 59:Accommodation was brilliant. Very clean. Fittings of a very high standard. Lovely freshly cooked generous breakfast

Review 60:No wi fi in bedrooms. Seating in breakfast room was at numbered tables to correspond with your room number, felt a bit like a supermarket café and really no reason for this - guests ought to be free to select any vacant table when arriving for breakfast.

Review 61:Location was good in that only a five minute walk into Alnwick, modern contemporary furnishings and good wet room. Had a first floor dormer room which was well equipped and fairly comfortable despite the restricted headroom. Small residents lounge with TV is available.Ample secure car parking on site and a decking area and seating at rear to enjoy sunshine. Good range of options for breakfast.

Review 62:We were on the top floor and the only window was a velux which couldn't be left open in the rain. As this is an old house with thin walls you can hear a lot of what is going on in neighbouring rooms - we could hear people using the neighbouring bathroom really clearly.

Review 63:Location of Holly Lodge is good for walking around Buxton. Rooms are cleaned and we had a large en-suite shower room

Review 64:Small double room. No air cooling fan in the room - it was extremely hot. Wi-fi only available in residents lounge. Breakfast times were early.

Review 65:Near to Alnwick in a quiet location. Contemporary & clean. Wine, beer & various teas/coffees available. Excellent breakfast. Toiletries & towels. Tea/coffee making facilities. Hair dryer,

Review 66:A small modern room with inappropriate furniture. Only 1 bedside table no chair(s) had to sit on bed. Overpriced and poor value for money. Pleased only wasted our money on one nights accommodation

Review 67:Room was very cramped. Shower was very small with a curtain that clung to you as you tried to wash.

Review 68:Warm welcome. Greeted with a cup of tea and delicious cake and lots of smiles. Very friendly, warm owners.

Review 69:Little things like no tissues in the room. We had an upstairs room which had very little wardrobe space, especially as we were in the area for a wedding we needed to hang up our clothes.

Review 70:The location was good. The option to choose what cooked breakfast you wanted the night before. The staff were very friendly and helpful, it was almost like I was staying in their home they made you feel that welcome.

Review 71:we enjoyed stay but did not think it was a 5 star. 4 star maybe but our disabled room did not have room for 2 comfy chairs whilst decor was average.

Review 72:cooked breakfast was very good
