Reviews for Hostellerie Normande
Review 1:Bed not the most comfortable but we slept fine - firm mattress with a memory foam top it seemed, not what I prefer but was ultimately ok.
Review 2:Family staff are very friendly and made the stay very welcoming. Excellent terrace and restaurant. Very good value, perfect location, good ambience, good food
Review 3:Paid by credit card for the room on arrival due to us having to leave early the following morning and when we arrived home we found they had taken the payment again inputting the card details manually.
Review 4:Lovely outside dinning terrace. Very good evening meal.
Review 5:I requested a bottom floor room, as I had had surgery reciently, & they put us on the 3rd floor with very steep steps. We were not able to check in, until 3:30 because the room was not ready. We were tired & wanted to rest, but couldn't.
Review 6:The restaurant is VERY, VERY good. Very charming & the food was delicious !
Review 7:Nice restaurant which is quite stretcehd on a Saturday night. Eat there during the week, go somewhere else on other days.
Review 8:Very nice cosy room, although quite small.
Review 9:Bed felt as though mattress could have done with replacing! - but not a major problem.
Review 10:Hotel was in an excellent location and Houlgate itself is a lovely little town, ideal base for exploring area. Hotel was very clean, all staff were friendly and helpful and food was excellent - plenty of choice for breakfast and evening meals had good choice within various price ranges. Our room was a good size, although we believe others were smaller.
Review 11:Found stairs very difficult Bedroom although spacious - quite dark Handle of bathroom door kept falling off!
Review 12:Beautiful sheltered garden - an oasis! Staff - could not fault. Restaurant very well decorated and good food on the whole
Review 13:Good location and value for money. Family run with a warm welcome. Also good dining option @ just under 19 euros for 3 courses with quality food.
Review 14:If you are not very mobile request the first floor as the style of the stairs is very in keeping with the old building, but not necessarily easy for someone that struggles with stairs. But hey just stay in the restaurant longer!
Review 15:Loved the view of the church and village out of our window, the fabulous food, great service, perfect location for a stroll around the lovely village. The only mistake we made was only staying for one night. Lovely and just what I want to feel like I'm really in France enjoying all that France is so good at.
Review 16:I think the restaurant was over priced and the set evening meal did not live up to the price charged, a jacket potato wrapped in tin foil was not the best and fell short of what you would expect from a French Chef. The Resturant La Maison du Coquillage next door is wonderful, good food at a fraction of the cost so well worth a visit.
Review 17:Our expectations were exceeded, we checked in and found The Hostellerie Normande to be the perfect place to spent our summer holiday with our children, it has easy access to the beach and main street for shops and restaurants with everything close to hand. The Hotel was very welcoming and clean and tidy and felt very safe and secure with a member of staff on the door to stop anyone entering who was not a guest. We all enjoyed the breakfasts they had a large buffet which you could choose from and always had something different to try each morning. Great place to be, we loved it.
Review 18:Had to walk to car park! Only kidding guys, probably needed the exercise!
Review 19:Good room, super clean in lovely old building. Restaurant was excellent. Staff very obliging.
Review 20:On-street parking is sometimes hard to find. According to the kids, the wi-fi was iffy--I didn't use it. The hot water for the bath was scalding & potentially dangerous. There is no elevator, so luggage must be carried up stairs; this was not a surprise in a quaint older building.
Review 21:Staff was pleasant and helpful. The building and neighborhood were charming. The restaurant had delicious food. The breakfast buffet includes hot drinks, bread and croissants, fresh and stewed fruits, yogurts, cheeses and meats. The rooms were clean and comfortable.
Review 22:Room facing street let in noises from garbage pickup and deliveries early in the morning.
Review 23:We were smitten the moment we walked in the room. Cozy and nicely decorated. Ample room in the bathroom. Petit dejeuner provided good choices, meats, eggs, cheeses and fruits. House and restaurant staff was friendly and welcoming making our stay all the more enjoyable. Easy to get to Normandy beach sites, Houlgate has its own lovely beach just one block from hotel.
Review 24:The staff was very helpful and made our stay a pleasant experience. The food served in the restuarant was excellent.
