Reviews for The Bondgate Boutique

Review 1:Bed was comfy, however, the king size was two singles joined together & had a dip in the middle - so not as easy to sleep on as you rolled into the middle! (Rm 3)

Review 2:Perfect location for Alnwick centre & the Treehouse Restaurant (in heels!) Modern, clean, cosy & warm. Great shower too! Lovely crisp white sheets & fluffy pillows.

Review 3:It was a bit of a squeeze to get into the wardrobe, we would have appreciated a doorhook to hang coats on

Review 4:The only bed I've ever slept on, apart from my own, that didn't induce backache. Enough tea and milk + lovely biscuits! Delightful shower

Review 5:Lack of a restaurant could be a problem for some people but we had already eaten in the Treehouse at Alnwick Garden so it didn't affect us.

Review 6:The bedroom was warm and very nicely finished and had everything that you would need, including free wifi. Parking was freely available next door at the Plough. Breakfast can be taken at the Plough if you book the night before.

Review 7:The only problem we had was we couldn't shut the radiator off no matter which way we turned it, it would not switch off and it was piping hot which made the room very hot we had to keep the window open so found it hard to get to sleep for the noise of the traffic outside

Review 8:Stayed in room 7 lovely room bed was very comfy Lots of tea and coffee hot chocolate extra milk if you needed it Very clean.. Loved the elephant mirror Had an evening meal in the plough next door and it was very nice would recommend

Review 9:Access to car park is very tight for a larger car to enter. No breakfast option in house, but adjacent establishment served breakfast. However, this was quite pricey and eggs were over-cooked. Dirty towel not replaced during stay.

Review 10:Quality furnishings and easy walking distance from town. The room itself was very compact, though.

Review 11:It was very warm in the room on evenings which made it slightly uncomfortable especially when sleeping. We did attempt to turn the radiator down/off in our room but it didn't seem to work or have much effect.

Review 12:Exceptional quality all round. We really enjoyed our stay. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend the Bondgate Boutique to anyone staying in Alnwick.

Review 13:Nothing !

Review 14:We love Alnwick! The proximatey to other districts is perfect. Some of the places to eat are fabulous. The Fleece Inn and Olive Tree are excellent Really enjoyed our stay

Review 15:I was greeted warmly by the staff and shown my room which I was very very impressed with! The facilities were immaculate and the staff were very accommodating when I asked about storing my luggage after check out as I was catching an evening train. It made me wish I was staying longer! Definitely looking forward to booking with them again next time I'm in town!

Review 16:Although we knew the property was room only, it would have been nice to have had the option of a continental option of cereal, bread, croissants in the room. We did get a great breakfast at The Pantry for £6.95....five minute walk away

Review 17:Great location, very clean and modern. Well furnished. Lovely bathroom. Well stocked welcome tray with fresh milk available. Warm welcome by owner. I would stop here again.

Review 18:Great location near Alnwick Castle & shops. Parking available. No breakfast provided but this was not a problem as there are several cafes / coffee shops nearby. The Plough next door has a fantastic restaurant on the first floor. Food was excellent.

Review 19:There was nothing not to like. We stayed in room 2 which is at the front and although the property is on the main road we had no problem with noise.

Review 20:The room was very good

Review 21:The staff were very welcoming and informative. The room was very clean and tidy, the bathroom was spotless and the bed was very comfortable. Tea, coffee etc topped up each day . Would certainly recommend the hotel.

Review 22:Very comfortable room with lots of nice 'little touches'. Nice private decking area for a morning coffee or evening drink. All finishes to a very high standard.

Review 23:Very noisy plumbing and dark bathroom.didnt think it was " boutique " standard.

Review 24:Good location, and lovely manager who was very informative and welcoming.

Review 25:noisy plumbing, smell of damp in shower room, lack of power points

Review 26:very welcoming owners, nice clean room, lovely standard of bed linen, great location, parking and wifi, good standard of fittings

Review 27:No shaver point. Mix up with payment. Paid cash as requested to one partner and then was chased by email and text for non-payment by the other partner. Not good.

Review 28:Pleasant room and good tea and coffee top ups each day.

Review 29:Only negative was the noise of the saniflow toilets during the night but I completely understand the need for these and would not hold it against the hotel.

Review 30:Loved the position of the hotel. 5 min walk from the castle and gardens and 2 mins walk into town centre. Beautiful building with lovely rooms and very helpful staff. Personal touches made all the difference too... Free muffins!

Review 31:Toilet macerator made scary noises!

Review 32:The divinely comfortable bed and the little patio area outside our room (number 3) There is a kettle with a good selection of hot drinks and biscuits, and fresh milk available in the fridge outside our room. We had a very pleasant stay.

Review 33:I was surprised to have to go out to find breakfast.

Review 34:The location is excellent within easy walking distance of Alnwick CAstle and gardens. The room was conforatable and clean.

Review 35:Room was too dark, need lighter shades on bedside lamps, and dark furniture didn't help. Instead of a stand for hot drinks, it would be better to have a set of drawers to put the drinks on, thereby having much more space to put clothes. Fitted wardrobe very small - in a diamond shape! Bathroom very small and extremely hot towel rail that can't be turned off! Shower has sliding door leaving 18" to get into the shower, and drain in shower very slow - have to stand in an inch of dirty water.

Review 36:Was situated in the town - BUT if you are at the front of the property it is very noisy due to traffic running through the town.

Review 37:We were only supplied with water for one of the three nights and the toiletries were topped up when we asked for them. For the price there should have been more attention to detail. Not much natural light in our room.

Review 38:Great location, very clean and comfortable. Surprisingly quiet for the central location.

Review 39:Lacking soft skills on arrival. When booking out, there were no staff to book us out with thanks for choosing "Our Hotel" etc.

Review 40:Central location. Quality room and fittings with attention to detail.

Review 41:Don't make the mistake we did and park at the back of Bondgate House, as the man who lived there came out and was very unpleasant about it.. There is parking instead at The Plough on the other side of the Bondgate Boutique.

Review 42:Very convenient location.

Review 43:If anything at all the noise from the road traffic was a little obtrusive but that said the hotel is on the main road in to Alnwick and didn't last all night.

Review 44:Excellent Location right in the centre of Alnwick. Close to all amenities and only very short walk to gardens and castle which was excellent. Room was very comfortable and beautifully decorated. The availability of fresh milk was also a nice touch. Very good wifi connection. Free parking.

Review 45:Nothing.

Review 46:We had a wonderful stay at the Bondgate and have no hesitation in recommending it to others. It is perfectly located for exploring Alnwick and its attractions.

Review 47:Fixed coat hangers. Very irritating. Surely we can be trusted with ordinary ones now you can pick them up free outside shops.

Review 48:Being in the centre of town with windows you can open. Ironing facilities. Nice tea mugs.

Review 49:There were vouchers so you could get breakfast next door at the Plough which made us think it was complementary, but it wasn't. You could walk in off the street and get a breakfast for the same amount so didn't see the need for the voucher.

Review 50:Location was great and the hotel very well kept

Review 51:The Wi-Fi connection. The router was in the hallway, 2 steps further was my room, if I closed my door and took 2 more steps, the connection would drop. I had to stand by the door to get a decent connection.

Review 52:The adjacent terrace :)

Review 53:Room was a bit on the small side. No breakfast included, which for the price is a bit cheeky. You can eat at the hotel next door, but there is no special deal for guest of the Bondgate Boutique.

Review 54:Very nice, clean and modern décor. Great location.

Review 55:The nature of the plumbing meant that it is very noisy, however the bathroom itself was spotless so only a small negative point.

Review 56:Small but clean room with good facilities.

Review 57:Its all good.

Review 58:Honestly lovely. Everything you need. Rooms are a tad on the small side to be considered a 4 star. But for a single night it was perfect. The lady who runs it was very friendly. And the restaurant next door (the plough) cooks fantastic food.

Review 59:parking area could be very busy. Could be very noisy in the hallway. One morning woken before 7 by people chatting.

Review 60:the overall cleanliness and the quality of furniture and fittings. Lady(Charlotte) very nice person, very helpful. We thought the room was excellent.

Review 61:The lack of breakfast facilities could be an issue for some people. The option of The Plough next door is convenient but a little hit and miss. Plenty of options in the town though so not the only option.

Review 62:The hotel was in a great location on the edge of Alnwick. Very close to the entrance of the Castle and Gardens. The superior room is a good size with a huge bed. Standard facilities very clean and comfortable. Overall very relaxing place to stay. The Plough next door is a nice pub and the food was very good.

Review 63:Car parking is a bit tight to turn into but plenty of space was good.Better sign posting would help.

Review 64:We were visiting the Northumberland Coast so Alnwick was very central. Plenty of places to eat nearby and very comfortable Hotel.

Review 65:Lack of natural light, only one small window in our bedroom looking out at a retaining wall. The upstairs rooms may have been better.

Review 66:Fitted out to a very high standard and spotlessly clean.

Review 67:Nothing you could not like!

Review 68:Accomodation lovely and a wonderful greeting upon arrival. We stayed in room 7 and would recommend everything, location good parking comfortable bed and the staff in the morning were lovely and friendly. Beautifully clean accomodation.

Review 69:the breakfast at The Plough next door although very handy, was rather poor both in content and extreme slowness of service, and not good value even at the discount price of £10! They should take some lessons from Premier Inn!

Review 70:owner very helpful.

Review 71:I would of liked to have access to the smoking area instead of having to go out the front.

Review 72:The room we stayed in was absolutely gorgeous the bed was extremely comfortable and the whole place was spotless. We couldn't fault anything. Even though it was only a 2-5 minute walk to all the restaurants and bars we didn't hear a sound. Its also only a ten minute walk to the castle and garden. We would definitely stay here again.

Review 73:Windows in the room didn't open. Parking not easy in adjacent pub car park. Had to go out to source breakfast.

Review 74:Good central location. Comfortable bed.

Review 75:No breakfast at all on the premises so had to go elsewhere at another cost of £20. Thought the cost of the room was very high. No staff on premises and no communial lounge. There was no signage to tell you the name of the property outside the building. Parking was a nightmare up an alleyway with no directions from the street.

Review 76:The room was clean and tidy

Review 77:Bed too soft for my liking but it was only a preference.

Review 78:Good, clean room in a fantastic location. Good facilities in the room. Breakfast deal at the Plough is worth a try!

Review 79:All positives! Perhaps not being able to stay another night! But that was my own doing! :-)

Review 80:Fantastic room, really homely, beautifully decorated, very cosy, lovely bedding, lovely toiletries and lovely staff. Great central location for all the amenities on the high street.

Review 81:There was only luke-warm water available from the shower. The fridge was out of the room, and there was no microwave.

Review 82:The location was convenient, but perhaps too convenient if you visited Alnwick with the purpose to walk.

Review 83:Nothing springs to mind

Review 84:Very friendly welcome when i arrived and everything i could possible have needed was available in the room including a small heater for the very cold nights (not that i needed it as room was lovely and warm anyway)

Review 85:Nothing to not like.

Review 86:Fresh milk in communal fridge, nice large mugs. Superb location 5 min walk from Alnwick Gardens. Warm and comfortable a great place to come back to after exploring the surrounding countryside.

Review 87:The sink in the ensuing had a ridiculous tap which took up the whole basin which meant it was not possible to wash your face so had to wash face in shower

Review 88:Fresh milk available for drinks. Comfortable bed. Friendly staff, nothing too much trouble. Close to town centre & restaraunts. Parking & breakfast available next door.

Review 89:Plumbing system - macerator? So loud that woke us up in the night when other residents used lavatory or shower in early morning! Sorry - this was our only problem but wouldn't stay again.

Review 90:Beds confortable -best I've slept in in a hotel. Location central and good pub next door.

Review 91:Nothing...bit expensive but the quality was wonderful = and the lady who looks after it is very friendly !!!

Review 92:We could come and go as we liked.... brilliant

Review 93:No breakfast. Inadequate lighting in a small dark room. Absent owner.

Review 94:Location. Excellent manager at Plough Pub next door....would recommend stay there next time.

Review 95:Entrance to next door car park very narrow and steep - beware if you have a very low riding vehicle.

Review 96:Very convenient. Well maintained. Quiet despite being on a main road. Staff helpful and friendly.

Review 97:We had a small room, which was OK,but to be fair ,this was the only room available, otherwise we liked everything.

Review 98:In the middle of town with easy access to shops.Ample safe parking and with immediate restaurant facility next door.

Review 99:The toilet system was quite noisy so on the Saturday when there were others in the room next door it was a little noisy. However I am being picky here!

Review 100:Excellent location, friendly staff, very clean and comfortable. Room serviced everyday. Toiletries and drinks stocked daily. Parking free and handy. Bed in room 7 was huge and very soft! Bit like sleeping in a very large marshmallow!

Review 101:Had to go out for breakfast but found a cafe by the market square with a variety available at reasonable price.

Review 102:Clean, quiet, modern room in a charming old house. We had the front room on the first floor with a king bed and room to walk around. Modern bath with great towels.

Review 103:Was perhaps expecting a slightly larger space for a premium room (although square footage quoted on website). Cost a little high considering breakfast not included.

Review 104:Location was good, room furnished to a high standard. and owner helpful.

Review 105:Shower was too small & missed having a bath. No decaf until asked for. Breakfast service & food quality suffered when main chef off. Not sure if our deluxe room was any diff for money.

Review 106:Bed was comfortable. Lots of useful toiletries. Brilliant location. Staff helpful.

Review 107:quietness of location, easy walking distance from the castle and gardens. A bus stop outside giving a regular service to many local places of interest.

Review 108:My girlfriend liked the bed but I found the foam top way too soft. But that's just me. I actually removed it on my second night. I put it back. The shower didn't drain quickly enough. Easily sorted by the ever present handyman. No big deal.

Review 109:Great parking. Handy communal fridge with fresh milk for tea. Very friendly owners always available.

Review 110:Low ceiling but soon got used to it.

Review 111:We were surprised how low the ceiling was in our room. However once we got used to it the room could not be faulted for its quality of bed ,furnishings and decor. This small town house is just rooms and an entrance hall. The manager lives across the road and is charming Short walk to breakfast & dinner in town & also castle/gardens. Excellent.

Review 112:Not able to book-in until 3.30pm and having to phone the owner tom alertthem to 3 couples waiting to check-in. Breakfast not included - extracharged to order breakfast in pub next door.

Review 113:Excellent room and en-suite

Review 114:The road noise is a bit of a nuisance if the windows are open

Review 115:The owner is deightful and extremely helpful Breakfast next door was very good The rooms are lovely - very nicely furbished

Review 116:Weren't too bothered but breakfast not available. However, the owners have an arrangement with the hotel/pub next door for breakfast and evening meal.

Review 117:The welcome and information plus the amenities, quiet and comfort.

Review 118:Good idea to put milk in fridge but it was off .... So we went to buy some .

Review 119:Lovely room and very pleasant welcome from owner .we will return and recommend to friends

Review 120:Difficult to find. Our room was at the rear of the building with a very small window partially below ground. Room was clean but not spacious. No lounge so it was difficult to relax. Not well described by Booking.com

Review 121:Not so much didn't like but.... the toppers added to the bed made it very comfortable but we became very hot in the night as they wrap around you. It was too noisy to have the willow openly but a fan was provided. One bed had a bedside light but the other person had to use the wall light to read by. We thought this was okay but as it worked both wall lights, and only turned off the one by the bed when you use the bedside switch, you had to get out of bed to turn the other one off. Free car parking great but it would be a good idea to tell people prior to arrival about the arrangements so they know where to go.

Review 122:Everything was well organised and clean. We were provided with everything we needed and more. The location was excellent for exploring the town Newcastle.

Review 123:Bathroom a little chilly. Would benefit from underfloor heating.

Review 124:Modern clean lines, subdued colours. Comfortable bed. Fridge outside room with real milk!

Review 125:We didn't realise that it was a very up market b&b and not a hotel but still an excellent stay.

Review 126:the Bondgate accommodation was excellent. Very comfortable and the owners were particularly helpful. we would recomend the Bondgate. The breakfast at the pub next door was very good.

Review 127:The price would have been cheaper booking direct with the Boutique. The room could have done with a comfortable sitting chair and a few more accessible power plugs.

Review 128:The location of the accommodation was perfect, with parking at the rear, abundant food within easy walking distance and the anwick castle and garden just round the corner.

Review 129:Nothing to dislike..

Review 130:It was in a great location, everything you needed nearby . Rooms very very clean and comfortable. Charlotte couldn't have been more helpful and friendly ..can't wait to return

Review 131:Very comfortable room with ensuite facilities. Excellent hospitality. Ideally located for visiting Alnwick Castle and gardens(walking distance).Charlotte was very helpful. Would stay here again if in this part of the country in the future.

Review 132:For a premier room the bathroom facilities were very small and cramped and the room needed a comfy armchair in the window recess. The breakfast provided at the pub next door was barely adequate. The Alnwick breakfast was tiny and the caramelised apple was still raw.

Review 133:Excellent location in town centre for visiting the castle and gardens, pubs and Barter books. Good off street parking in the pub car park next door.

Review 134:Breakfast next door at the plough was very slow - the chef didn't seem to be able to cope with more than one breakfast at a time and on all 3 occasions there was something wrong from wrong order to something forgotten but would stay there again

Review 135:Friendliness of staff (Charlotte) comfort of room and cleanliness

Review 136:The bed side lights could be taller - it was impossible to read in bed without the top lights being on. Wifi wasn't good in this room and I had to keep moving to the door to get a signal. However, the hotel proprietor had warned me about this.

Review 137:Stayed one night at the Bondgate Boutique. The owner was most welcoming and my room was lovely. The bed was comfortable, the ensuite was spotless and there was even a private outside terrace for my exclusive use.

Review 138:As we couldnt open window it could get a bit stuffy. However we understood the reason for this being on the main street.

Review 139:Well located. excellent breakfast next door. Beautifully modern and clean

Review 140:Very small shower room for premium accommodation. On street room got very hot despite fan or open window - hence noisy too. Breakfast (at Plough next door) was very basic - minimal fresh fruit and other things premium suggests. There are no "public rooms" as such to relax in - that could be clearer on website.

Review 141:Good bed and linens. Location very handy for everything. Terrace great in the sunshine. Large car park - access not a problem as some have suggested.

Review 142:Room either too hot or noisy with the window open to try to get cool.was not impressed with the breakfast arrangements. Breakfast uninspiring, staff miserable and slow.

Review 143:Close to good attractions.
