Reviews for Auberge de la Commanderie

Review 1:It was not easy to find.

Review 2:The location was great, and the staff very friendly and helpful. We were able to stay in an very nice upper level room because there is a lift - a real help for a man who wears a brace! Loved the view from our room at the rear of the hotel. Free parking wonderful, but you do need to reserve it.

Review 3:Great location within walking distance to all points of interest. Modern decor and lovely to have table service with a smile for breakfast. Staff also very helpful.

Review 4:Helpful, pleasant staff to welcome you and sort out breakfast. Very patient when we couldn't get the wifi working. Good breakfast which even included some St Emilion grapes. Very nice room, spacious, very clean. Lovely views.

Review 5:The room was similar to a dorm room at university.... Bland and plain. No tea or coffee facilities . Clean but that's it

Review 6:The location was very good and staff very friendly

Review 7:Nothing major but the wifi can be annoying as you have to keep logging in and the parking is small so fills up early.

Review 8:The location is very central which is great for exploring the town and having a choice of different restaurants each day. Breakfast is good (by French standards) and the rooms, although small, are comfortable and clean.

Review 9:The location was suburb, free parking, roomy by European standards in the family rooms. WiFi was good connectivity however you must sign in every time you re-enter the room. Staff were super friendly and helpful.

Review 10:Hotel great. St. Emillion expensive as far as food and drink.

Review 11:This hotel was excellent. Staff super nice and helpful. We totally recommend it for all ages.

Review 12:One thing ...could have done with a door on the shower....it was a fabulous shower that couldn't be properly enjoyed because one was too busy trying not to shower the bathroom.

Review 13:A quiet spacious cool room , very comfortable bed, lift and an excellent breakfast. The staff were all very helpful. Perfect central location with parking nearby.

Review 14:the breakfast was not as good as expected having had good and cheaper breakfasts at budget hotels

Review 15:Location was superb and the free parking not far from the hotel

Review 16:Excellent! Great location, very nice rooms and comfy beds. Definitely deserves more than only 2 stars. Would definitely stay here again! Great breakfast and very nice and helpful staff.

Review 17:Fabulous location and very helpful staff. All set in a very beautiful location. Would definitely recommend staying here. Room was quite small but designed well to maximise space.

Review 18:Disappointed that we asked for a taxi at a certain time and when we arrived to take it the staff member said it wasn't coming. They had made no attempt to let us know in advance so we had to walk/rush to the station with heavy bags and were late for our train. It would have been so easy for them to telephone me or leave a note in our room. Then at least we could have left on foot earlier. They didn't even apologise which I found surprising.

Review 19:Rather overmodernised interior was unsympathetic to an old building. Very posh bathroom, but no shower curtain or screen meant it was permanently wet!

Review 20:Convenient location for visiting the town, v clean and comfortable

Review 21:The air conditioning unit was very loud at times leading to disturbed sleep.

Review 22:The unusual room; the cleanliness and the vet friendly staff. The French breakfast was very good value for money.

Review 23:Nothing.

Review 24:Everything! Staff very friendly and informative, eg about parking. Had lovely view of church and of old buildings in town. Close to restaurants and all sights.

Review 25:Breakfast bit sparse for international visitors(most are)

Review 26:Well located and fitted old building near centre of beautiful St Emilion with free parking nearby

Review 27:We wanted a lovely quiet hotel with good views. This hotel provided that . Handy to many restaurants and close to the convenience store. Staff were extremely helpful and our room was very clean. Would highly recommend this hotel and would definitely stay here again . Full marks.

Review 28:a fridge in the room would have capped the experience even further but then we understand the grading doesn't warrant this but this was offset with cold drinks from the reception area!

Review 29:the staff were lovely and helpful The views from the from the room exceptional

Review 30:A kettle and tea/coffee tray in the room would have made the experience 100% perfect.

Review 31:Being in the heart of the beautiful village and landscapes of St. Emilion, especially being close to excellent restaurants and wineries.

Review 32:Terrible night's sleep with uncomfortable mattress and very firm pillows.

Review 33:Great location, with free parking and very friendly staff. Unfussy breakfast.

Review 34:Through a series of unfortunate flight-related events (long story) my wife arrived at the hotel fully 10 hours before me - and our suitcase. The staff went to great efforts to find a phone charger and other essentials for my wife before I arrived much later that night. Add that service to the wonderful site in a beautiful town, with parking only a short walk away and it was an excellent stay.

Review 35:Took ages to locate the place. Very small claustrophobic room next to lift shaft. Tiny bathroom. Very basic facilities. Could not have stayed more than one night.

Review 36:Central location. Private car park but it was some way from the hotel. Reasonable breakfast at extra cost. Receptionist helpful.

Review 37:The only downside was the noise from the passing cars which means we were not able to sleep very well.

Review 38:Friendly staff, great location, nice building, free parking nearby, great facilities (wi fi, drinks at/from reception) plus on our last day we were able to leave our suitcases in the lobby so that was great. St Emilion is a stunning place to visit and the Auberge de la Commanderie was perfectly located for us.

Review 39:No tea or coffee making facilities or mini fridge in room No English speaking TV stations at all BBC or the like. Hand shower over bath did not have a wall bracket for a standing shower or shower screen to contain water. Only supply disposable plastic drinking cups.

Review 40:Only had to walk up a half flight of stairs. Car Parking good as well as short term street parking for unloading luggage was available. Loved being in the centre of St Emillion

Review 41:No shower in the room

Review 42:Excellent hotel, perfectly positioned. Rooms are modern, clean and decent size.Staff were friendly and there is car parking, which is always tricky in this old town

Review 43:The rooms and the furnishing have no style and no charm whatsoever. Everything was flimsy and utilitarian, which would be alright if it is not charging more than US $100 a night, with another $15 for breakfast! Even the locals grimaced when we mentioned that we were staying there. Definitely over-priced.

Review 44:Nothing

Review 45:Great location at the top of the city good breakfast and excellent staff with my phone issues.comfortable bed good size room very clean.good parking close to our room

Review 46:there were no negatives

Review 47:We stayed here for our last 2 nights of a 10 week holiday in France & Spain, we then drove directly to the airport & our flight home to Australia. The Auberge was excellent, the staff friendly & helpful, the town beautiful with plenty of good food & wine to be enjoyed. I would highly recommend this Auberge to anyone wanting to stay in this area.
