Reviews for Hôtel Du Cloître

Review 1:No lift to access our room on the 2nd floor

Review 2:Friendly team, wonderful rooms, quiet, perfectly located. A perfect mix of Provencal charme and elegant design

Review 3:No sign outside hotel made it quit hard to find but had fun walking the narrow streets looking for it. Once I found it the hotel and staff were great.

Review 4:Great location, Loved the decor in the rooms and staff were great.

Review 5:very helpful staff, well located for seeing Arles and the Camargue. Nice rooftop terrace when the weather is good. Good cafes for breakfast close by.

Review 6:We we're there on a festival weekend and the small tapas bar just next to the hotel was playing really loud music till about 3am! Breakfast is really expensive but there are some nice cafés near by. The ceiling fans in the room work, but are loud and air con would be better. Staff were nice enough but not the most family friendly place really

Review 7:Modern rooms with a fantastic shower, posh smellies, location is great for town and car park (11euros a day) pretty close really

Review 8:Even in mid September the room was Very hot as there was no aircon but just a ceiling fan. The room was airy and sufficiently spacious due to beautiful high ceilings but the fan had to be left on all through the night. Also, more worrying for 'readers' it was incredibly badly lit.

Review 9:Wonderful helpful reception staff. Location amusing decoration.

Review 10:They had allocated a de luxe room with bath when we ordered a shower. Bath impossible to access and leave unless of athletic nature. Fortunately, they were able to find a room with shower.

Review 11:We liked the bar outside the hotel but related to it - relaxing terrace and good simple food.

Review 12:Don't drive to hotel, unless you have a SMALL car! We scratched our rental on the tiny roman roads leading up to & away from the hotel. That's the only bad thing! Couldn't fault it otherwise

Review 13:This is a great Art hotel! Impressive pieces in the public areas and quirky design interiors in our room! In an incredible 12/13th century building it's something special for sure.

Review 14:WiFi was not great. Bar closed early and didn't have license to serve unless you ate there. We hadn't.

Review 15:Loved the arty individuality of the hotel

Review 16:It was hot, air conditioning would have been a dream. Though the fan provided sufficed to get us through.

Review 17:The location was perfect and we even had a view of the ancient ruins. The hotel decor was great (better then the pix) and attention was paid to detail.

Review 18:Beware that this hotel does not have a lift, especially if you arecarrying more than a carry-on piece of luggage. Staff, however, arehappy to help you lug it up and down. In spite of the room description, there is no real city view. Just some roofs. Most importantly, it is NOISY! there is a restaurant at street level, with a terrace, and often there a is group of musicians that stop by and sing.... The music is quite nice, but loud and they will remain singing if the patrons encourage them. So, if you need to sleep before 1 am, this is not the place for you. Also, there is no AC, only a pedestal fan. So, there is no option of closing the window to avoid the noise (they are not soundproof either). Finally as many downtown European town hotels, the access is complicated through a very narrow street, with only a small inlet for one car, to temporarily check in or check out. The hotel gives a nice discounted rate on a nearby ( 4-5 blocks) covered parking. The hotel offers a continental breakfast, with plenty of sweet breads, nuts and dried fruits. No eggs or fruit juice.

Review 19:Very central, just behind the cloister. There is a gorgeous littlerooftop terrace that allows you to see the back of the cloister (seepictures on the page) and have a quiet self-catered dinner overlookingthe roofs of the cloister and church as the sun sets (do bring mosquitorepellent!). Staff was very nice, friendly and helpful. Excellent wificonnection.

Review 20:Only things that would make this place better: if the café served throughout the day, not just at lunchtime, and if there were a pool.

Review 21:Beautiful property, with a tree-lined, lanterned café on its patio, up a little windy road from place de la république. The rooms are nicer and more comfortable than they look in the photos, slept really well.

Review 22:Air condition would be nice, more hooks / places to put personal items in bathroom! Better explanation how far by foot the parking is from the hotel.

Review 23:Staff always willing to fulfill our needs, extra layer of bedding, THE BREAKFAST

Review 24:The roof terrace, even though very nice, was full of mosquitoes...such a pity not to be able to enjoy the sunset.

Review 25:The location is perfect and the staff is extremely nice and helpfull. One can reach the main atractions of the city in les than 5 min by foot! The rooms are big (even though situated in France:))) and well equiped, as is the bathroom. Everything is very clean. And the design is really very nice.

Review 26:No air con, just a fan. Restaurant below our room was noisy on some nights. No lift.

Review 27:Great location, fascinating building, mix of modern design and ancient building. Spacious bedroom, great wet room.

Review 28:The staff was always available and helpful. Nice smiles! Absolutely imaginative, consistently quirky, clean and comfy atmosphere. Very nice details. Great breakfast choices.

Review 29:no A/C so a bit noisy to keep the window open at night.

Review 30:Absolutely beautiful hotel, very central, great service, delicious breakfast, very comfortable room & amazing decor.

Review 31:It is difficult to load or unload your car as there is a one way, narrow street running past the hotel. The staff is friendly but no one is available to help with your bags. The hotel was nice but there were few amenities.

Review 32:The location is within the city walls which is a plus. The room was very quiet and stylish with a large bathroom.

Review 33:Arles is a bit of a maze, so have a clear map ready to find your way.

Review 34:The design was gorgeous. The staff was extremely helpful especially when they let me use the breakfast room to Skype into a meeting back in America at 2:30am. The location is close to a ton of different things, too.

Review 35:The hotel is beautifully decorated, it is very clean and spacious enough. Their breakfast is generous and delicious! And the staff will make you feel like you're staying with a family. Amazing experience! I would highly recommend this hotel to everyone.

Review 36:The lady at the reception desk wasn't nice to us when we arrived. Other employes were very helpful. We enjoyed our stay

Review 37:Design of the room Breakfast

Review 38:There was no luggage stand (depliante pour poser le bagage?), so we had to open our suitcases on the floor -- this was inconvenient. There were only two pillows on our double bed -- one pillow each. In fact, many English people like to sleep with two pillows each. It would have been good to find an extra pillow in the cupboard. But .... we asked, and your lovely staff found another one for my husband!

Review 39:Style (strangely neon but attractive) Functions (HOT water, DIMMER lights, COMFORTABLE bed) Location, obviously Super-rapid laundry service Car-park tickets and clear directions to the local Parking People -- everyone (4 different people we met at the front-desk) was smiling, friendly, and helpful.

Review 40:This may be a minor thing for most people. The design of the hotel is fun but this had negative results in terms of the sink in the bathroom. It was an interesting shape but it was designed without a drain stop. This makes it very difficult for people who need to wash their contacts or other small things. I solved the problem by lining the sink with a towel but it was a bit of a nuisance.

Review 41:Very badly sign posted, no car parking on site, so therefore difficult with luggage. We did have the car broken into whilst viewing the hotel which meant that the day in Arles was spent with the police and replacement car windows. The staff were very supportive

Review 42:Very good decor and finish

Review 43:Be careful with the bed's metal frame! Those corners are deadly! So is the Tv hanging just above the chair. Installing round bath without any doors or screens wasn't a good idea either. Could do with one socket per bed side as well, so both people can charge their phone while in bed.

Review 44:Very central location, extremely friendly staff- all our requests were fulfilled, from room service to help with reservations at the restaurants etc. Good breakfast, great coffee.

Review 45:It's not the hotel's fault, but on maps Rue de la Cloitre looks like one of the major streets in central Arles - in reality it's just an unnotable laneway. It's great that the hotel has bikes available for guest use, but they should be properly maintained and have a pump to keep the tyres inflated. I found both the hotel's bikes had flat tyres and I had to ride around looking for a service station to get them inflated.

Review 46:Nice quirky décor Free use of bikes Good healthy breakfast

Review 47:On looking for the hotel, we passed it before realising that it was there, so perhaps a clearer sign might be helpful. The stairs up to our room were quite challenging with a heavy case, and older customers might need assistance, in the absence of a lift. But these are quibbles!

Review 48:The staff at the hotel made the customers feel at home; the bedroom was comfortable as well as having rather idiosyncratic decor; and the buffet breakfast was excellent.

Review 49:Everything was perfect. We were in Arles with my parents and we had 2 standard rooms. The design is new and fresh, modern and functional. The breakfast was very good, you could eat whatever you want, there was a buffet with croissant, good bread, jellies, nuts, cheese, ham.. the staff was also very nice. Love this place, I do recommend it!!

Review 50:Such an unassuming place from the outside, you would not know it existed. It is almost like a secret. Once inside and in your room, it is lovely and Julia is very welcoming. Couldn't fault it.

Review 51:Everything. We had 3 nights here. The staff were welcoming, friendly and thoughtful - it felt like a home away from home. They offered the service of washing and drying our clothes which saved us time. Breakfast was abundant and included quality local produce. The funky decore was a pleasant change. L'Occitane products were supplied in the shower room. Excellent.

Review 52:Very appealing, quiet, clean and comfortable room. Good bed. Shower good and roomy. Surprisingly good rates for a perfect location. We'll stay there again.

Review 53:breakfast could have been more exciting but all you need!: fruit, breads, jams, croissants, juices etc.....

Review 54:location & decor is wonderful. perfectly located next to ruins and so close to everything in this wonderful old town!

Review 55:The location is excellent, just in the center of the town. Our bedroom was really spacious , with a really nice design, and quiet. It was the " Deluxe room". The breakfast was good with a lot of choice. The staff was really nice and professional, always ready to help you. If the staff is not too busy you can ask to have your breakfast in your room. A fantastic stay in a wonderful hotel! We will definitively come back again.

Review 56:Hot sleeping even in November because of minimal ventilation and only quilts on the bed. Mosquitos in Arles.

Review 57:Groovy interior Good service Well located but tricky by car

Review 58:Prior advice wasn't provided regarding pre-booked parking arrangements resulting in a fruitless drive to hotel where there was no parking or room to pull in and then a difficult navigation through very narrow and twisting streets which could easily result in scraped bodywork to find temporary public parking.

Review 59:Location next to major sites, very friendly staff, decor, quality of decorations and fittings, terrace bar, healthy continental breakfast (ie excluding hot eggs and bacon) with everything imaginable including boiled eggs, seeds, nuts, fruits, cereals etc as well as lovely breads and preserves, ham, cheese and juice. The actual parking arrangements were good once located about 300m from hotel in a secure multi storey off Boulevard Des Lices

Review 60:All staff very helpful. Very unusual design which was fun. Central location close to shops, restaurants and sights. The breakfast which was not included in the room rate was well worth the money.

Review 61:Hotel du Cloitre's staff are outstanding - friendly, helpful & efficient. The design & decor of all areas is creative & really individual - the mosaic floors & bathroom walls look great, the lighting is interesting, the shower was large and our bathroom was spacious with useful shelving, plenty of hooks & large good quality towels. The location couldn't be better - close to the major attractions & some lovely restaurants.

Review 62:Nothing

Review 63:Staff was friendly and provided great information about the town. Great starting point for a trip to Provence. Very close to everything, market, restaurants, roman ruins, Rhone river, tourist info and parking.

Review 64:Room a little small. Price a little on high side for size of room.

Review 65:I liked friendliness and helpfulness of staff. Location couldn't have been better. Continental breakfast one of the best we've had in our travels.

Review 66:Some other guests - ran up and down the wooden stairs outside our room at 4am but not hotel's fault.

Review 67:Decoration and lovely staff. Breakfast yummy. Great location for my Mum as she can't walk miles.

Review 68:Aircon would be a better option than the ceiling fans in really hot weather, as sometimes we couldn't keep the window open (such as when the loud rock bands struck up in the nearby amphitheatre).

Review 69:The arty decor, the wonderful breakfasts, the friendly and helpful staff, the large shower and the great location in the heart of Arles,.

Review 70:Air conditioning not working, bath tub with short hose not optimal for showering

Review 71:Location, beautiful interior design, cafe in front, quiet roof terrace with a view

Review 72:Beyond the hotel's responsibilities are the noise from the streets outside - restaurant noise rising from below, cars hooning past with loud stereos late at night and even people yelling in the street.

Review 73:Everyone within the control of the hotel. The Staff were excellent, especially Marie Theresa, Juliet, Elody and Sol were all extremely helpful and I have probably omitted someone - sorry. The rooms are tastefully decorated, the breakfast was fantastic and generally it was well above our expectations. The terrace on the top floor was really great. They looked after us all very, very well.

Review 74:The complimentary water and toiletries restricted to arrival Day only No wash basin plug for wet shaving

Review 75:Delicious breakfast Fresh fruit a winner Very Friendly staff especially 'la patronne' Helpful advice and tips from directory and personnel L'ouvre boîte The terrace Nice and quiet annexe

Review 76:Great hotel with great decoration India Mehdavi's decoration is just amazing

Review 77:Very friendly staff, great location value for money!

Review 78:Friendly staff Location excellent Big bedrooms 40 sq meters

Review 79:A great artistic feel to every square inch of this hotel from the breakfast area to the room. A visual delight!
