Reviews for Auberge de l'Orangerie

Review 1:Little bit isolated

Review 2:Great hotel with great views. Staff were friendly and very helpful. If you stay here you must eat in the restaurant the food and service are both excellent. I would recommend this hotel and would not hesitate to stay there again

Review 3:The hotel is separate to the main house and not as the picture would suggest. The following morning, the owner told us that we'd only booked for one person even though we booked a room for two people. This may have been an oversight but, we were charged an additional €18 for the extra person which, at just under €100, rendered the accommodation poor value for money.

Review 4:It was a comfortable night

Review 5:No tea/coffee facilitie in room (although this is normal for France)

Review 6:Scenic location, excellent free wifi, good storage space, well-equipped wet room, balconies with view of Mont Blanc, friendly staff (particularly the owner). The food deserves a special mention - exceptional.

Review 7:Nothing.Just perfect.

Review 8:We were travelling down to Italy, and this was our first overnight stop. We could not have chosen better. Just off junc 15 of the A26,the location was perfect. We purchased some provisions from Guignacourt(JUNC 14) before arriving.Picknicked on the balcony with champagne from the hotel room fridge, which was priced very realistically. Beautiful breakfast and delightful staff.

Review 9:My only issue with the place was having to sign into the wifi hotspot semi-frequently.

Review 10:The owners were lovely and beyond helpful. The restaurant isn't cheap, but for the amazing meals, it's quite reasonable. Would go back!

Review 11:- Bad Wifi reception - Cold jacuzzi - Steambath not working - Expensive breakfast (we chose not to have it)

Review 12:Quiet hotel in the middle of nowhere, with nice view of the montains. You definitely need a car if you want to go to St. Gervais or Chamonix.

Review 13:There wasn't anything we didn't like.

Review 14:Hotel restaurant is absolutely magnificent! Location superb (fine views of Mont Blanc from our terrace), staff friendly and very helpful, excellent value for money.

Review 15:Nothing

Review 16:Sadly the restaurant was closed when we were there. However the lady owner could not have been more helpful, booking us a table at a very good restaurant in the town and assisted us in getting there. Breakfast was excellent. Next time we hope to sample dinner.

Review 17:no heater on Summer

Review 18:view to Mont Blanc, free parking slots

Review 19:Fantastic views, hot tub, lovely accommodation. Madame was charming

Review 20:Warm welcome, excellent evening meal. Hostess made us feel important to her not just another guest.

Review 21:The food in the restuarant is way Above average. Simply superb

Review 22:I liked view to the mountains in the morning.

Review 23:In the room, I can see the snow mountain easily. And the food in the restaurant is great. The service is perfect!! Best hotel in France

Review 24:Excellent food, very helpful staff

Review 25:The meal we had in the restaurant was tremendous. The staff were great and we would rush back, 10/10.

Review 26:Excellent breakfast and comfortable roomy accomadation. Good views from the balcony. Very friendly.

Review 27:Restaurant closed on Mondays

Review 28:Location, parking, Breakfast, room

Review 30:Rooms could use some upgrading

Review 31:Excelent breakfast!!! Hosts speak good english, willing to help and advise, very hospitable

Review 32:Long wait for food but this was compensated by apologetic Madame and excellent food

Review 33:Location and food

Review 34:Difficult to connect to free wifi

Review 35:Great location to stop off on route to Italy. Fantastic restaurant. Friendly helpful staff.

Review 36:The rooms are a bit basic but lack nothing.

Review 37:The place to stay. Unassuming auberge but fantastic restaurant, worth a 100 mile detour. Great staff. So welcoming, a perfect place to rest. No praise high enough for the attention we received

Review 38:We have now rebooked following our visit to Auberge de l'Orangerie. The staff are very helpful and friendly. We ate dinner in the restaurant which was excellent, breakfast was also extremely good.

Review 39:We have stayed here for as a stopover for Italy. It remains a really good find with fantastic accommodation, food, and access to the autoroute. The owner and staff go out of their way to be helpful

Review 40:You need to rent a car to get to the hotel since it is about 2.5km from the city centre.

Review 41:The staff were extremely hospitable. They offered to drive us to the city centre everyday since we did not have a car. The restaurant was great and the view from the hotel was excellent! It is also child friendly as there are slides and swings to play with. With a car, it is very easy to access Combloux and Megeve as it is about a 15 mins drive. Very good and clean resting place after a ski/snowboard session!

Review 42:Would have liked to have had our meal in the restaurant in the evening, based on how good the breakfast was.

Review 43:The owners were very friendly and went out their way to make our stay pleasant. The restaurant was closed when we were there and they booked us in to another restaurant in town, also taking us in their car. Breakfast was excellent and nicely presented

Review 44:Older children would have preferred to be a bit nearer to Sallanches for evening - about 2.5km away but not a major issue as overall it was still a very good value place to stay for those wanting to ski in Megeve as long as you have a car.

Review 45:Owner and her team were very approachable and gave a very courteous and welcoming service. We would return, The views of mountains all round the Auberge from our bedrooms and the Dining room are stunning The food at breakfast and in evenings was exceptionally good and beautifully presented. The hot tub and hamman were lovely too and these made the overall price and experience very good value. Its about 25 mins to Rochebrune telepherique in Megeve or 15 mins to Combloux for La Princessa telepherique

Review 46:The welcome was wonderful and went far beyond anything I expected as I had to pick up my wife from Geneva Airport: we arrived back very late to a wonder meal for two on a Sunday evening.which we enjoyed at about midnight. Our stay was too short and I would recommend it 100%.

Review 47:Staff very welcoming. Food was superb, you can see the chefs working.Views of Mont Blanc from our room and restaurant. Wide choice of food atthe buffet style breakfast. Great location to stop before crossingbetween France/Italy via the Mont Blanc tunnel.

Review 48:Clouds obscuring the excellent mountain view

Review 49:Very well run family hotel with an innovative chef. Pot au feu as a terrine and a reconstructed lemon meringue pie as a crumble were magnificent

Review 50:Absolutely nothing. We wish we could have stayed longer!

Review 51:The ambiance. The host (not present on this visit) and hostess are truly welcoming and very gracious. We have stayed here before and will do so again.

Review 52:the views were spectacular, the room was comfy and spacious, the staff were brilliant, the owner was so friendly and helpful. The breakfast was perfect.

Review 53:We stayed In a beautiful 3 bedroom apartment in the annex with wonderful views and fantastic amenities . We ate in the restaurant and the food was exceptional as was the breakfast . We will return next year !

Review 54:Some traffic noise, but not intrusive

Review 55:Views of Mont Blanc with beautiful countryside all around Outstanding cuisine, with local and organic provenance, we saw the cherries for the cherry crumble picked by the staff from the trees in the garden! Beautifully presented food Friendly and helpful staff Obvious love and passion for providing a great experience for visitors Visual invitations to relax, adult size swings, a hammock, loungers overlooking a field of swaying grasses interspersed with poppies......

Review 56:The rooms in the annex are fantastic value for money, as is the food inthe restaurant. For us, it is very well located for a stopover to useMont Blanc tunnel

Review 57:I stayed here because my son was in Hospital in Sallanches. Annie, Christoph and all the staff were exceptionally kind, helpful and understanding. They could not have helped me more. They endured II was very comfortable and nothing was too much trouble for them. There is no better place to stay in Sallanches.

Review 58:The family were incredibly friendly and welcoming and myself and my family would not hesitate in using this again. We had a great time with great people.

Review 59:We stayed in a room in the new annex of the hotel (it is not as close tothe road as the main hotel itself and, thus, it is more quite). The viewwas superb (from the balcony you could see the Mont Blanc massif). Theroom was modern, comfortable and spacious. We strongly recommend therestaurant of the hotel. The food is exquisite. The staff was veryfriendly and helpful. Also, the hotel is a great place to visit ChamonixMont Blanc and the surrounding areas (only 20-30 min away by car).

Review 60:We really like this hotel. It is a genuinely good, at the top of its three star rating. The staff were welcoming and attentive. Good breakfast, and evening meals with a touch of class. Ask for a room in the annexe - you will have either a sitting out area or a balcony with a magnificent view of Mont Blanc. If you can get there early enough, take a walking map, cross the road, and go for a quite beautiful walk up into the little settlements and stunning flower meadows in the foothills of the alps.

Review 61:We spent three of our seven day stay here and I wish we would have spent more time. The location was so central, the room and the view were both outstanding and the owners were so kind and patient with us. Even after I mistakenly asked them to pay our dinner bil! My French was not very good. Treat yourself and have supper here at least once and I would highly reccomend the breakfast as well. If you are going to be in the area and have a car I would stop looking and book here.

Review 62:the hospitality, kindness and sheer standards of courtesy and helpfulness way exceeded our expectations, it was a truly delightful experience. the resturaunt was quite exceptional

Review 63:It was a very covenient stop on our way back from Tuscany. The views of the snow on the mountains was spectacular. The owner spoke English and was most helpful at all times and our evening meal (cooked by her husband) was excellent.

Review 64:We needed a cheap hotel near by Megeve skiing resort. Approx 20 min drive to Megeve it was very positive expiriance. A nice Auberge with a good breakfast and resturant. Above our expectiations.

Review 65:We wanted to ski. The hotel is not close to the slopes. I wouldntrecommend this hotel for skiers. But it is a nice countrysidebudget hotel.

Review 66:Cleanness and behaviour of the staff. It is a family run hotel.

Review 67:The owner is very helpful and a genuinely nice person. We stayed here because Chamonix was booked out. We did not regret it, despite the distance to the slopes. Excellent value for money, and the food in their restaurant is just superb.

Review 68:Very helpful friendly staff. Excellent restaurant, superb food

Review 69:The owners and staff are so warm, friendly and welcoming. We ate in the restaurant and the food is beyond delicious with lovely attention to detail.
