Reviews for La Maison Bakéa
Review 1:What did we like ? Everything ! The house is a gem, full of history, renovated and decorated with great taste, and the hosts made us feel at home as soon as we entered the door. The room and premises were perfectly clean. We enjoyed a magnificent view on the valley, and had a lovely breakfast and a great chat with the hosts. They will make your life easy and tell you all you want to know about the house, the village and the surroundings. We absolutely recommend maison bakea to anyone who plans to stay in Cordes sur ciel !
Review 2:Very attractive accommodations in a very beautiful small town. Views of the countryside were splendid. The B&B was very nice with a very hospitable host, interesting and comfortable surroundings, very nice breakfast. A great value
Review 3:Minor problem, but wifi did not work.
Review 4:The hosts were incredible for their service and friendliness. They went beyond our expectations in making our stay enjoyable. Dinner was an exceptional experience.
Review 5:My brother and sister in law were due to spend a week with us in France; what, we wondered, would be the best place to visit during the short time available? We finally decided on Cordes-sur-Ciel. Was it divine inspiration? Who knows, but the choice of accommodation in this magical city was certainly divine. Looking at la Maison Bakéa from the outside it’s impossible to imagine the hidden treasures within. This 13th C building is in the process of being restored by Gilles and Marie (our welcoming and charming hosts); in the few months since they opened they have put their imprint on every room, creating an interior where the furnishings and decoration are in perfect harmony with the building’s historic past. After the obligatory gasp at our bedrooms (chambre duSénéchal and chambre du Chancelier) we sipped a sparkling Gaillac on the terrace, admiring the stunning views and dodging the swallows swooping to their nests high in the roof of the galleried interior courtyard. Our one night stay felt like a much longer break and the whole experience was such a pleasure there’s only one thing to say – don’t miss it! NB 13th C builders didn’t plan for Wi Fi with their fortress-like walls - put your phones and computers on hold, enjoy the history and relax!
Review 6:2 single ladies travelling together and got double bed twin bedded room located to couple who requested a double!! No walk in shower or grab bars in the bath to stabilize older travellers. Downstairs bedroom smelled of rising damp and toilet smelled of sewerage. Not suitable for older disabled travellers as stairs have no safety rails.
Review 7:Ambiance and helpfulness owners, tho not good if you speak no French.
Review 8:Nothing
Review 9:It's location has to be the top feature with great views from a restored 800 year old property and close to the other medieval parts of Cordes.
Review 10:Wi if did not work in room so could only log on in the lounge downstairs. The shower was not great in terms of heat or power.
Review 11:The room was spacious and delightfully decorated. Comfortable bed and lovely view to the valley below.

Review 20:Unique accommodation in a historic building which has been updated with modern comforts inside a walled town on top of a hill, you must try it
Review 21:none
Review 22:great old village
Review 23:The welcome, the beauty of the setting, the people who run it.
Review 24:Honestly, nothing!
Review 25:Beautiful 13th century building with so much charm. Very comfortable and well laid out bedrooms. Laid back, relaxed atmosphere. Lovely breakfast with outdoor terrace available. Friendly and accommodating owners. The central atrium with the swallow nests is a feature! We will definitely stay again on our next visit.
Review 26:Absolutely nothing!
Review 27:The hotel is quite unique both in its design and setting. A fascinating old building, it is arranged around an open courtyard, with a spiral stone staircase leading to the well-appointed rooms. Ours had a spectacular view over the countryside. A comfortable bed, sizeable shower room and kettle in the room made our 1 night stay extremely comfortable. The personal greeting from the owner (ensuring we were safely parked and providing a parking permit) reflected the obvious thoughtful attention to detail that has gone into this establishment. We were given a key to the back door, which opened onto a cobbled street leading to the main town, a few minutes walk away. It is hilly and cobbled, so access could be difficult for the less mobile, but we found it absolutely delightful. We enjoyed an interesting and reasonably priced meal at the top of the town. Breakfast was included in the room rate and excellent coffee prepared and served by the owner. The dining room has a baronial feel to it, is comfortably furnished and leads onto a small terrace, again with wonderful views. This is a little gem and well worth a visit.
Review 28:If you're an older person, be prepared to climb a lot of stairs both in the hotel and hills in the city, but it's totally worth it!
Review 29:It definitely is one of the best hotels I've ever had the pleasure to stay. Both Philippe and Nadia are awesome hosts and the hotel itself is inside a really old house, totally part of the town, but with all modern comodities. We stayed in a room with views of the valley and it's stunning. It can be a little bit expensive, I'd guess for the budget traveler, but it's expected in the south of France and in such a lovely small hotel.
Review 30:Fellow tourists must remember that parking is difficult in these hilltowns. We found parking along the circular outer defensive walls butit's at a premium, depending on the time of year. Also, didn't like having to open a Paypal account to send the 48 eurosto reserve our room.
Review 31:The excitement of staying in an authentic bastide village constructed asa defensive unit onto itself!. Our room was located on the top floor ofthe building (whose history dated back 800 years) and was approached bya large stone circular stairway original to the building which, beingseniors, would have been difficult had not our host kindly carried upthe heavy luggage. Our large room could have accommodated four as it had2 extra beds. Everything was very clean, with spotless parquet woodfloors. Though weather was very chilly and damp, it was well heated. Ourhost provided a very nice light breakfast and excellent coffee. A secondrear key allowed us to enter the village between the walls. Plenty ofgood restaurants were available as well as shops, folklore museum andexcellent wine cave. Also enjoyed a half day trip to nearby scenicvillages, picnicking along the way.
