Reviews for Hôtel des Templiers
Review 1:The room was rather small, but adequate. There was a bit of an unpleasant smell at times in the bathroom. The Wifi did not work in the bedroom.
Review 2:In a good position very close to the sea. The bar is a pleasant place for a drink, filled with paintings, the staff are friendly. We were even offered a choice of rooms.
Review 3:Showers are teensy. I am a small person, so if I was cramped... The hotel restroom, off the bar and restaurant was the smelliest and dirtiest I encountered in the 5 different hotels I stayed in this trip. So I only used it once
Review 4:Location and staff were fabulous. Interesting place to stay. The noise level was loud but part of my experience so I didn't mind. Of course the art was unique and very special. The staff were very accommodating with my backpack after I checked out and providing me with a room to get changed into traveling clothes before I caught my train. I would return, absolutely.
Review 5:There was a very helpful young man on reception who made our stay easy and enjoyable. He gave us ideas about parking and restaurants, all of which were excellent suggestions. We loved the rooms, with lots of character.
Review 6:Central location was nice but noisy, both late at night and very early in morning. Also had trouble staying connected to wifi but the receptionist responded to my complaints and it finally worked.
Review 7:Great atmosphere in bar and sidewalk cafe, near water. Cool decor. Rooms small but comfortable, bath is newly remodeled.
Review 8:Staff were very friendly and helpful - the whole place has real character and the location is perfect. Breakfast on the bar terrace was a real plus.Parking might give cause for anxiety at really busy times of the year and even in later September it still needed some ingenuity.
Review 9:Usually had to wait till bar noise subsided then open the windows for fresh air, then three hours later shut and revert to a/c when the delivery vans, street sweepers and garbage collections rolled in.
Review 10:We have stayed here many times so obviously we like it. It's important to make the right decision on the room type. You get either (a) modern rooms at the back or (b) the old traditional rooms at the front. Theoretically the back rooms should be quieter but there is noise from nearby bars, mostly removed by shutting everything. The front ones get a lot of noise, with the only quiet time in high season being after the hotel bar closes at 0200 or so, and the refuse collection starting at 0500. You can shut it partly out but the a/c tends to be stuffy. Overall the front rooms are great because of the views of sea, castle etc. and great sunrises. Then there's all the paintings... and the Catalan colours on the furniture...
Review 11:The location. In the centre of the harbour, close to all the amenities. We were able to sit close to the tiny balcony and here the orchestra in the street.
Review 12:Parking was a bit of a problem until the system was explained.
Review 13:Beautiful town and the hotel was perfectly situated to enjoy the town and all the highlights within an easy stroll. The beaches were lovely. I'd love to return !
Review 14:Parking a challenge but it's a village issue. Better directions on how and where to park would gave saved hours of frustration.
Review 15:Great location. Beautiful village.
Review 16:Staff was so nice. Breakfast was simple but good and inexpensive Location is perfect AC efficient and silent and last but not least they found a safe place to put our road bikes for the night
Review 17:The hotel is full of character, especially if you stay in the Catalan rooms. I had opportunity to stay in both styles traditional and modern. If you like modern amenities these rooms are plain and simple with updated bathrooms. The Catalan room was older but quaint. The rooms that are on the bank side of the hotel are quieter. Great location in general and staff are very friendly and helpful.
Review 18:Situated in the centre of Collioure, very close to the sea, the hotel (with it's many paintings and history) is a great place to enjoy this special location. Friendly staff, rooms spotlessly clean, parking very close by, this property definitely lives up to its many positive reviews.
Review 19:We didn't have a bad experience here. Loved it loved it xx
Review 20:The hotel is above a busy area with bars and cafes which was fine for us. We had a balcony with lovely views of the town and sea.
Review 21:Had trouble leaving the central car park after a few days as it would not accept any of our five cards and it turned out that the paypoint would only take one euro note per parking ticket, so we eventually managed by feeding in masses of 2€ coins after the note, having acquired an embarrassing queue!
Review 22:Balcony overlooking the busy pedestrian street and the ancient fort/chateau. Yes, the rooms are small, but the character and all the paintings have lots of charm. Gorgeous port, lots of history and interesting Old Town. Various beaches, huge variety of bars and restaurants, walks, views..... Loved restaurant Le Dali, Place Jaures.
Review 23:We loved the convenient location. But the best thing was the amazing collection of paintings throughout the building. The quality of the staff was exceptional.
Review 24:The place is filled with paintings from artists who have stayed there. This alone makes for great character and interest. Great location just two minutes walk from the sea. The bar is one of the 'must see' places in Collioure.
Review 25:It's noisy outside at night, but there's not much you can do about that. The wifi was hard to understand and connect and my allowance ran out before my stay ended. It would be nice to have a kettle in the room. The toiletries, shampoo etc, should be checked each day and more provided if necessary.
Review 26:The staff were extremely helpful in arranging a very late meal as our arrival was delayed by problems on the train network. The hotel is fascinating with all the paintings and the decor. I loved the location and the balcony and the room was comfortable and well equipped.
Review 27:The staff was friendly and helpful. The location was perfect. The food at the hotel was delicious. I just loved staying here. This is NOT a hotel for those looking for a 5 star hotel where you are pampered to death. If you are an adventurer that wants to feel like you actually are a part of the community, this is the place to be!
Review 28:The room was a bit cramped, bathroom was old and needs a makeover. The breakfast was very simple.
Review 29:The hotel building has a lot of atmosphere because of the original old structure and the paintings hanging everywhere. The location is great, right in the historical city center. You can see the old harbor and the sea from the balcony of your room.
Review 30:The wifi wasn't very reliable but not that bothered.....on holiday!
Review 31:Everything really, the location, the room, the folk there as well as, of course all the art work about the place. The bar downstairs could be a bit noisy for some.....but it's ambience so enjoy it.
Review 32:No, but wish they had single rooms!!!
Review 33:It's interesting, quirky, modest - you can just imagine how it was 70 or 80 years ago. Breakfast in the bar - terrific. No airs or graces - just good service from decent people.
Review 34:The bathroom was old and needed replacing.
Review 35:The hotel couldn't be more central, the staff are super and the bar downstairs has a great atmosphere. The room was very basic but the beds were comfortable enough.
Review 36:The wood shutter was stuck open and could not be closed, which would be a problem in the summer. I hope they can get it fixed!
Review 37:Great location, and a very pleasant stay in what felt like a large, family home filled to the rafters with original artwork. The bar under the hotel is also full of artwork, very befitting to Collioure, and on a cold, windy evening it was obviously "the" place for locals to gather for a much-needed warm drink.
Review 38:The wifi was only for 2 hours and Whatsapp couldn't be used with it. This was very strange. The breakfast was a bit stodgy and the coffee wasn't very good
Review 39:The location is great. The room was nice and clean and tasteful. The place was charming. The staff were mostly pretty frendly.
Review 40:Nothing except as above but aircon worked well so we could close windowsand sleep. Still quieter than being over the bar.
Review 41:Everything...beach was great if pebbly Walks wonderful. We asked to goin the more modern side for quiet but backed onto an alley whereeveryone seems to chat so even though we were three floors up it wasnoisier than we expected but this is a thriving arty tourist beachvillage so one has to take good with the bad.
Review 42:It was a bit noisy late at night, but it was saturday. Bit of mould round the bath.
Review 43:The location and views from the hotel were very good. The ambiance in the hotel and restaurant were excellent as were the staff. We enjoyed people watching and discussing the paintings. Wifi easy to access.
Review 44:Real experience being surrounded by so much art. More of an art gallery than a hotel! Good value for money. Good staff. Bar has character and restaurant food looked decent on menu but unfortunately they were not serving evening meals when we stayed being early October. Word of warning. When we arrived during the afternoon the front of the hotel/bar was closed and there was no info re how to get in. Local shopkeeper showed us to rear alley where Hotel entrance was situated. Good secure parking just opposite for 10 euros per day.
Review 45:We loved the location, atmosphere, friendly staff. Easy to walk to from the train station with our luggage. Breakfast was a very good deal with the best bread and croissants.
Review 46:The mattress was very firm and unless you are used to this a poor night's sleep follows. The bathroom was very small and the shower area tiny and as there was a curtain not a screen it felt even smaller as it clung to you!
Review 47:All staff were very polite and helpful. Parking nearby at a reasonable rate too. Breakfast average for continental breakfast, the usual croissant, baguette, butter & jams, orange juice and coffee/tea/chocolate.
Review 48:Room needed new paint to freshen it up Carpet stained Our room was street front so bar was noisy until about 2am
Review 49:Location great very quirky and wonderful art. Staff very friendly Bar restaurant downstairs good Nice view of the water and street
Review 50:Small rooms, noisy outside .....who cares!
Review 51:An integral part of the history of Collioure, Room only a few steps from bars, beach and all the sights we came to see. Art everywhere, bar where Picasso drank.
Review 52:Trying to find parking was crazy! A bit noisy from the restaurant downstairs til 1am.
Review 53:Excellent position in the town, close to all amenities, close to the beach, good restaurant and interesting decor. The room was comfortable and clean, will return on our next visit to Collioure.
Review 54:I spent only one night here with my boyfriend, the location it's perfect, you can see pieces of art everywhere in the hotel, the room they gave us had a great view of the beach, the staff was very helpful and nice!!!
Review 55:No comfy public room for sitting, reading, chatting to friends etc. Perhaps we are supposed to use the Café - Restaurant des Templiers next door, but this would not be ideal.
Review 56:Perfect location, with the pedestrian area, shops and beaches on the doorstep. Staff very friendly. Room clean and a good size.
Review 57:Felt very much like revenue generating was top priority over guest experience, breakfast was disappointing and lots of flies in bar, some bar staff unfriendly, owner quite rude telling group of four brits that they couldn't sit outside as this was for dinner only, even though 30 minutes before dinner service opened, rooms quite small, no fridge or kettle
Review 58:Very central, beautiful narrow cobblestone street, desk staff mostly helpful, particularly young guy, clean and tidy, artworks, air conditioning
Review 59:Very weak wifi in room 20--constantly cutting out and requiring re-login Can be noisy at night from street crowds, but closed windows keep it quiet and air-con works well
Review 60:Location, atmosphere, history
Review 61:noisy lorries with engines running constantly throughout breakfast as they were unloaded and goods delivered on foot through the tiny streets
Review 62:ambience...all the lovely paintings; location...couldn't be better; breakfast outdoors watching the town stir;
Review 63:Old carpet in our original standard double. Our quieter room, on the second night, had a pleasant wooden floor.
Review 64:Staff were very helpful. The hotel has original paintings on every wall. Well worth a visit. On our first night, we had a room at the front and the noise in the street was annoying. We asked to be move to a room at the back for the second night. They could not have been nicer and we had a sound sleep that night. We recommend you book a room in the modern part.
