Reviews for Bastide Relais Magdeleine
Review 1:nothing bad, other than getting from the car park to the house was a bit of a struggle as its not very well lit - but that really is very trivial.
Review 2:Wonderful room and bathroom, staff were wonderful, beautiful house and grounds - would love to return in the summer months
Review 3:No mosquito net or screen, were hunting both nights for hours (coloured wall paper great camouflage). No internet in the room and continuously got kicked out in the lobby.
Review 4:Magnificent gardens. Seeing the guy from the room next to ours had survived after trying to cough his guts up all night, poor fellow!
Review 5:the rooms do not offer the height of luxury but are more than good value for the price you are paying
Review 6:stunning property in beautiful, rural like location but walking distance to small village with shops and restaurants. short hop to the motorway from where the whole of the Cote d'Azur is easily accessible
Review 7:Nothing was particularly bad. This is an old property, so you have to accept the old-fashioned style when it comes to furniture, bathrooms, etc. The cleaning shifts should be better organized.
Review 8:The estate is wonderful, the perfect getaway to spend a quiet weekend, even in peak season. The staff was very accommodating and helpful
Review 9:!Absolutely nothing not to like. How could you not like it here?!
Review 10:Everything! Staff so very friendly, pool lovely, restaurant amazing, gorgeous little village. Basically if someone asked you to draw your perfect French romantic hideaway this would be what you'd draw.
Review 11:we liked everything
Review 12:the old bastide has a wonderful garden with pool under old trees. you can sit in front of the house to drink a coffee or a glas of wine and forget about everything. we had a big room in the second floor; I have seen that every room is a little different, there are also smaller rooms than we had. A big bathroom with nice tube. We had dinner at the restaurant; the hole atmosphere is worth eating there and the food is nice too. It´s a place for recovering your soul.
Review 13:our room (suite no. 37) had a lot of noise from the road. The traffic (mainly noisy scooters) was deep into the night. The hotel sent us a message that the restaurant is closed on Sunday, but the entire town didn't have any restaurants open. The closest restaurant was in Cassis. This should be noted clearly on the reservation page. From our window we had a view of 2 big dead trees. Very sad... the entrance to the hotel had a lot of dead lavender bushes and weeds. This is demonstration of neglect and it ruins the impression of this pretty estate.
Review 14:This is a beautiful property with a lot of potential. With some adjustments it can easily be a 5-star. First it needs a good scrubbing and a fresh coat of paint. The restaurant is ok but the choices are limited. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom very updated.
Review 15:The bath was broken, the toilet overflow was faulty and made a noise all night long as the cistern topped up, the hair drying machine was hanging off the wall, the air conditioning was switched off, which meant we slept with the windows open all night, the TV reception on the only English channel had interference, the Wi Fi was poor on the first day and did not work on the 2nd day. The lady of the house completely lacks any customer service skills and speaks no English, so on the first day we were unable to bring the faults to anyone's attention, she just rudely ushered us away, by the 2nd day we managed to speak to someone reference the bath, the son arrived with a lump hammer and some spray to fix the valve on the bath but the problem returned. It felt a bit like DIY repairs were slowly bring the house to its knees, but it desperately needs a massive investment to bring the rooms up to a standard to warrant paying 170- 220 Euros a night. On checking out we were told by the son that the faults didn't matter, "you are paying to stay in the beautiful historic house, with antique furniture" which further endorses their lack of understanding the needs of the modern traveller.
Review 16:The house itself was beautiful on the outside and most of the ground floor area.
Review 17:Tiled floors with no rugs near the bed. No drapes in bathroom and only a tub with hand held shower. And the sign for the hotel was hidden behind overgrown bushes so we missed it several times when trying to find the place.
Review 18:Room, location near Geremos and Cassis. Restaurant on site, friendliness of staff.
Review 19:Musty smell in the bathroom. Wifi not working throughout entire hotel, and staff clueless to fix it.
Review 20:Pleasantly dilapidated. Like visiting the country house of an old aristocratic relative.
Review 21:My room smelled like sewage some of the time and the management did not seem at all concerned. Acted like it was something I had caused!

Review 36:Don't expect to be pampered by American style customer service. This is a proud and traditional hotel. Respect this and you'll have a great time I'm sure. One thing that would have improved my visit would be better a quality mattress in the room.
Review 37:A very beautiful hotel. Very authentic. Dreamlike dinner and breakfast under the lime trees.
Review 38:No personnel in the front desk in th evening , and you cannot stay in the living space in the ground floor as the owner leaves at midnight .
