Reviews for Hotel Des Bains

Review 1:We got a room on the last floor, and there is no elevator (for some people it could be a problem). The room itself needs some renovation (e.g., a shower sink was partially blocked). There is no WC door, only some sort of curtain (non sound-proof), but perhaps that's typical :) . The parking is secure, but a bit small - may be a problem for large vehicles.

Review 2:The interior of the hotel is impressive. We especially liked photos with aeroplane pictures from 1910-20s. Even more impressive is a view from the balcony of the top floor. The hotel is located 2 minutes of walk from the central street and 5 minutes from the lake.

Review 3:The only negative was the people in the next room - constantly smoking on their balcony so the smoke drifted into our room.

Review 4:Nice character of the building, friendly staff on reception, lovely bathroom. Nice view from the balcony.

Review 5:The restaurant which we had been led to believe was associated with the hotel was closed. Also many of the other restaurants in the area were closed because it was Wednesday !

Review 6:Only slight issue was the slight smell of stale cigarette smoke in the hotel corridor, presumably from one of the other guests smoking somewhere in the hotel.

Review 7:Gerardmer is a perfect location or a cycling break in the Vosges. The room was ideal, and we were able to store the bikes safely overnight.

Review 8:Bar shut at 9pm. Given piece of paper with code number for car park on arrival. But did not realise it was also to be used to access hotel. Came back after meal at 10.30 but was locked out! Doors shut. No staff in building. Luckily found number to ring who gave us number! But after 20 mins of panic!!!

Review 9:Big comfy room. Grt breakfast. Clean. Quiet. Friendly staff.

Review 10:Sighted near the lake and town centre. secure gated car park - when travelling on motorbikes that is a great plus. Excellent friendly staff and nice big rooms, will use them again.

Review 11:No lift. I'd have liked to know what type of room we had booked - eg alpine style.

Review 12:Car-parking facility a plus; building historical; interesting photos on display of Gerardmer in years gone by. Easy access to shops/restaurants.

Review 13:No lift and we had to carry heavy suitcases up four flights of stairs, no help available. Bar closes at 9pm.

Review 14:Alpine style hotel, traditional wooden panelling throughout. Has bar for tea, alcohol and beverages. Sunny balcony at front of hotel, just above street level, nice for afternoon cup of tea or a gin and tonic.

Review 15:* I had requested a room away from the street, but we were given a room at the street side (had they missed/not understood the request....?) * The bar closes at 21:00.....?

Review 16:* Nice paneled room with historic feel to it * Véry good breakfast (continental, but a large selection of foods) * Easy access after reception closes down in the evening * Shutters to shut out both noise from the street and light * Quiet hotel (although street can have its busy times)

Review 17:No Lift No evening resteraunt limited staff coverage but very pleasant.

Review 18:Nice Balcony to the room, walk in shower and a good sized bed secure car parking Breakfast was good

Review 19:Check-in by 20.30hrs is a bit early but wasn't a major issue for us.

Review 20:We're a family of four and we were given a terrific double-roomed appartment with a double-bedroom and a twin bedroom. The rooms were clean, comfortable and full of character and the hotel was very well situated between the lake and the Centre Ville....both in very easy walking distance. There was a nice selection of stuff for breakfast and helpful staff on hand if needed.

Review 21:We arrived late in the evening. Although we were late, they made sure we had everything we needed. They had a place for us to park our bikes save for the night and we could borrow an umbrella.

Review 22:We did a search on booking.com indicating we will be traveling with ourdaughter of 5 year old. Booking indicated a rate of 181 eur vat includedfor 2 nights for 2 guests max. We emailed hotel staffs thru booking ifit's ok to bring our child. Never got any reply. When check out thehotel staff charged us 100 euro per night then add vat on top. And noapology for the confusion caused and no response to our email.

Review 43:Atmosphere Staff Breakfast fresh bread Pub area Parking facility Walking distance to restaurant Size of bedroom

Review 44:Unfortunately, the service at reception was disappointing, bordering on rude. This is regretful, because otherwise I would not have found any fault with the hotel.

Review 45:The bedroom was adequate and clean. The breakfast was very good. The staff in the breakfast room were friendly even though we had very little French, we were able to get what we requested.

Review 46:Bar was only open until 9pm and not clean at all. Very limited hours and often reception staff had to come through and serve you

Review 47:Location was very good, just on the edge of the Town. Lots of restaurants in easy walking distance. Lots and lots of driving roads in the Ballons.. Staff were helpful. A very good choice of breakfast. Secure car parking

Review 48:The room was a little bit too small. OK for 2-3 days but would not recommend it for longer

Review 49:The Staff were all very friendly. The hotel is a nice building, very cozy. The bathroom is very well equipped with a great shower. Overall an excellent hotel considering the price for the room

Review 52:the pillows were very uncomfortable for sleeping

Review 56:Fare could have been lower given the very low season (town was desert, most other hotels closed). Low season fare is only 10 € less than high season fare

Review 57:Very spatious room (4-bed room) in a charming building, central location close to lake and shops, restaurants, although it was low season breakfast was fairly comprehensive

Review 58:- not much choice for breakfast, optional for only 9eur p/p

Review 59:we were there during summer: - situation, only 5 min from the lake, plus good starting position for excursions - good value for money - nice bedrooms (a bit small), but a very nice bathroom (shower) - balcony - no carpets on the floor - free parking facility, and lots of possibilities in the neighbourhood - friendly staff
