Reviews for Villa Hortebise
Review 1:There was nothing not to like about this property
Review 2:We had a good night’s stay in this lovely old house, where we were made very welcome by our host. Our room was at the top of the house and beautifully decorated with a superb shower / dressing room ensuite and a comfy bed. The house was in a quiet location, but only 10 minutes walk from the centre of the lovely spa town of Salies de Bearn A very nice breakfast was included in the modest price.
Review 3:We had a large 'suite' - Bedroom, sitting room and bathroom overlooking the rear garden. The room was very comfortable ( excellent bed!) and the breakfast was superb. The villa is about a 5 minute walk from the nearest restaurant in the centre of Salies. Corinne and her husband are excellent hosts - highly recommenbded!
Review 4:The villa is very comfortable and Corinne and her husband could not have been friendly or more helpful. She even did a load of Washing for me. Breakfast was delicious with an array of homemade breads and pasties
Review 5:The only minor thing was all the stairs one had to climb to the room but it was worth the climb in the end
Review 6:Everything a beautiful house and host in a beautiful town . Stunning room and very convenient to town itself
Review 7:Very cosy, homely peaceful place to stay with all modern facilities. The home made bread and jams for breakfast were very tasteful. A lovely family home would definitely recommend
Review 8:Nothing
Review 9:Beautiful B&B. The hosts are wonderful. Breakfast and dinner were delicious. Great spacious room with a large bathroom. Truly enjoyed our stay at the B&B.
Review 10:Not having enough money to buy the house and living there myself. Also not being able to eat such delicious food without gaining weight.
Review 11:My wife and I stayed at the Villa Hortebise in Salies de Bearn for three nights at the end of August beginning of September and loved it. First, the location was superb, on a main avenue leading into the town coming from Sauveterre-de-Bearn and St Jean Pied de Port. Incredibly this avenue was extremely quiet with no noise from passing cars, which were very rare, disturbing the quiet of the beautiful house set back from the road. Walking normally one can reach the center in ten minutes. By car it is two or three minutes and there is parking everywhere in the town. The house is located on a large lot and the back garden is extensive with several types of fruit trees and vegetable gardens. Looking out from the back windows one can see a chapel on the hill and the town cemetery, which itself is worth a visit, having the tomb of Alexander Georgievich de Beauharnais 1912–1942, the Duke of Leuchtenberg, direct descendent of Josephine Beauharnais, first wife of Napoleon Bonaparte. There is nothing sinister about the cemetery as it looks like a pleasant garden and makes for a nice stroll. Even the children would love it.As for the house itself, the two rooms rented to guests are located on the second floor, which is reached by a narrow staircase. Some people with physical disabilities might find this a drawback, but once you reach the rooms—there are two—the climb is worth it. We stayed in the suite (35 m2), which is beautifully decorated and looks out on the garden. Everything in the room was perfect—the bathroom, the bed, the television, and the space for working on your laptop. There were chocolates and Perrier water awaiting us next to our bed. For those who need their coffee fix there were instant coffee and tea on the table together with an electric kettle for heating water. This is an amenity which I think should be compulsory in all small hotels, just as Wifi has become de rigeur. Sadly some inn keepers don’t seem to understand this.
Review 12:We arrived later than expected due to a thunder storm and sat nav issues. The restaurants in the town were closed, but we were offered a nice freshly made light meal, and a welcome glass of wine. The breakfast was very nice, especially the Madeleines that had been freshly made that morning. Would love to have stayed a while longer, and enjoy the local area.
Review 13:The hostess and host were welcoming and approachable! Their house was beautiful but homely. The breakfast was first class, homemade and plentiful! Even had scrambled eggs one morning and pancakes the next!
Review 14:Very friendly and caring host. Beautiful house/bedroom/bathroom. Excellent breakfast with homemade bread and jams.
Review 15:Homely and friendly with character. Excellent breakfast.
Review 16:friendly hostess, comfortable bedroom with tasteful decor, huge choice and ample portions for breakfast
Review 17:Very friendly and accommodating, excellent breakfasts with fresh baked goodies every day. Lovely room and very close to town.
Review 18:Very friendly, welcoming place to stay. One of the best French breakfasts you will find.
Review 19:The owners were great. The food was superb, location very convenient
Review 20:Our brief time with Corrine and Cedric reminded us why we prefer guest houses to hotels. We greatly enjoyed their friendliness and hospitality, which went way beyond any reasonable expectations. Corrine makes all of the breads, jams and madeleines which form part of breakfast, which was ample and delicious. Our room was immaculate and spotlessly clean, with a wonderful view to the nearby hills. We would gladly stay here again.
Review 21:I had booked the suite overlooking the garden, but I think there must have been some confusion as we were given the room at the front of the house.
Review 22:breakfast was superb we were made to feel welcome by the owners and the house is absolutely charming. We were within easy walking distance of the town and Madame booked us into a good restaurant for dinner in the evening.
Review 23:Everything was above and beyond that which we had expected. We were made extremely welcome, the room was particularly well equipped, with an excellent view and a television set par excellence. Breakfast was different from what was expected but it was excellent nevertheless. An incident with the car was dealt with in short shrift by calling on a friend of the family with a 4x4 vehicle. Excellent in all respects.
Review 24:There is nothing to dislike.
Review 25:Pretty much everything. It made a welcome break to get away from hotels and hotel chains [all of which have so much in common] and instead to stay in a highly personalised home. We were made very welcome and we could not have wished for more. An absolute delight.
Review 26:For older less agile retirees the stairs may present a problem. 3 flights of steep wooden stairs. Good exercise.
Review 27:We loved Corinne and her family. She made all her own breads, brioches, pancakes, madeleines, jams Exquisite breakfast. We felt like kings.Blessings to her and her beautiful family. We felt part of the family.
Review 28:A very nicely decorated room with all you need for a good stay. The owners are very friendly and helpful. Dinner with them was delicious!
Review 29:Should advise at time of booking that credit cards are not taken.
