Reviews for The Galleon Inn

Review 1:Good location in Fowey but parking is a nightmare. Travel light and be prepared to keep returning to the parking areas to top up your ticket. This not any fault of the Galleon just the way the town runs and it's also part of the charm of the place that it is so small

Review 2:Parking was painful as it required phoning and registering a bank card. My phone couldn't get a signal and my wife ended up being charged over £60 which took us days of calling to have refunded. The parking downtown incurs big penalties if you go over time paid for.

Review 3:Location, location, location! Great wee town with lively bars.

Review 4:We had a room over the beer garden that was quite noisy one night.

Review 5:The location of the Galleon is fabulous being right on the waterfront. The staff were very helpful.

Review 6:No bad experiences but glad it wasn't the height of summer as car access is very limited, but that's Fowey for you!

Review 7:Easy access to rooms Staff there when needed but no fussy rules! Could have left luggage somewhere after checking out (in the end didn't need to)

Review 8:Me nor my partner slept too well in the bed, but that's the only negative. There was live music in the pub on the Friday but that's to be expected and didn't bother us.

Review 9:A very cosy, friendly place to stay in an excellent location. Good value for money and a really pleasant stay. The wifi was a god send as signal around Cornwall is generally poor.

Review 10:The only downside is the lack of parking near the inn,it is possible, but a tight squeeze, to get near enough to drop your bags off if you park quickly by the bank,

Review 11:View from room windows over the river/harbour, the size of the room was a pleasant surprise, sitting in the conservatory having a meal with that view again, room well stocked with coffee/ tea & biscuits, really friendly people.

Review 12:Little bit of noise from users of the pubs outside space, but a small price to pay for a great view

Review 13:View was fantastic, food was great value and quality.

Review 14:Staff were friendly and helpful. The bed was very comfortable. Everything was good, except breakfast which although plenty & looked good the english breakfast ingredients were tasteless.

Review 15:Confusing feedback from GPS. Spent 2hrs riding arround looking for the hotel in the wrong town. When in Fowey contact hotel for directions, don't rely on GPS. Hotel is listed under food and drink and not B&B or hotel.

Review 16:Comfortable, clean and friendly staff that make you feel right at home. Lovely location will be back for a longer stay. Hidden gem.

Review 17:Noisy fan on bathroom light

Review 18:Nice room comfy bed clean & tidy nice bathroom excellent breakfast- locally sourced produce Friendly staff Outside seating area overlooking river Fowey

Review 19:The curtains did nothing to block out the light..better curtains or a black out blind would have made a huge difference to our comfort.

Review 20:The breakfast was great and staff were friendly and helpful. The location was perfect.

Review 21:The parking in Fowey is quite limited and paying for an overnight to mid morning space was a bit of a pain.

Review 22:We had a very comfortable room (and bed!) over-looking the Pub's beer garden. It was marvelous to wake up to the church bells and seagulls and then enjoy a (giant!) full English breakfast in the Pub's conservatory.

Review 23:Accessibility with luggage very difficult because there was no parking. When booking guest should be told to only have small bags.

Review 24:View from our room was spectacular, service in the pub was very friendly. Everyone was treated like a member of the family.

Review 25:More info needed on access and parking. VERY tight access in central fowey and no hotel parking.

Review 26:Central location, spectacular view, room functional but great value. Huge breakfast.

Review 27:Staff friendly enough but the pub was very busy which meant you couldn't always find somewhere to sit, even as residents. Victims of their own success! Car parking is not nearby.

Review 28:The views are stunning. Location is excellent and handy for all the amenities in Fowey. Meals are hearty and breakfast is very good.

Review 29:Was not informed before hand of no parking at hotel, or nearby. Must tell guests to park in main long stay and use Town Bus to get to hotel

Review 30:Location very good.

Review 31:SHOWER NOT VERY EFFICIENT,OVERHEAD LIGHTS AT BED HEAD ONE NOT WORKING AND THE OTHER ONE FLICKERING,A LITTLE DISAPPOINTED WITH BREAKFAST BUT MAYBE THAT WAS US.HAD TO RISE EARLY TO FEED PARKING METER AT TOP OF TOWN. STIFF UPHILL CLIMB UNSUITABLE FOR ELDERLY PEOPLE.

Review 32:LOCATION EXCELLENT,STAFF VERY PLEASANT,EVENING MEAL SHARED FISH PLATTER SUPERB

Review 33:We loved everything about it. The view overlooking the estuary was amazing. The room exceptionally large and spotless. The bathroom was excellent. The food is very good and the portions are large, very good value. The Staff are very friendly and welcoming. Would thoroughly recommend.

Review 34:Good value for money for such a special location .

Review 35:Superb location . Staff were friendly & helpful . The room was spacious ; the beds v comfortable & everything was very clean . However decoration ,furniture & fittings were dated & the windows need urgent attention

Review 36:Nothing - all good.

Review 37:My second stay - this time with a spectacular estuary view. Excellent situation in the Town centre. Very good, spacious and well-equipped rooms. Helpful, friendly staff. Great breakfast.

Review 38:The shower in our room was faulty; however on mentioning this when paying the bill, it was apologetically reduced by £20 and apparently the problem is in the process of being sorted so I'm sure it will be fixed by now.

Review 39:Beautiful location right on the estuary. We were lucky enough to have a river view room. The room was lovely and the breakfast excellent with friendly staff. Would stay here again.

Review 40:No bad experience at all!

Review 41:The facilites and friendliness of the staff and patrons of the Galleon, plus kindness at all times and an excellent breakfast!!

Review 42:Parking a challenge but this is not due to the Galleon, just how parking is in Fowey which protects it, but remember to consider this when packing!

Review 43:Great location, lovely food but most of all really friendly people

Review 44:Literally nothing. It was a pretty special experience :) thoroughly pleased!

Review 45:Excellent location, food was excellent, people were friendly and the rooms every clean. What a sweet view as well!!! :D

Review 46:The primary shower didn't work, and the staff took two days to communicate to us how the secondary shower worked. The rooms are comfortable but small. No phone in the room.

Review 47:Convenient to pubs, ferries, buses, and shopping. Great view of the estuary. Excellent breakfast.

Review 48:Unfortunately the restaurant was closed for refurbishment so cannot comment on menu. very little sleep due to them having a big party going on in the room below us in the bar. but I suppose what did I expect for booking a room in a pub on a Saturday night!!

Review 49:Lovely spacious room nice view over the river, very friendly & helpful staff, lovely breakfast.

Review 50:The car park was about a 5 min walk away, this didnt really bother me as its what you expect if you stay in Fowey.

Review 51:the location was excellent, the staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice.

Review 52:Noise from pub below-specially on live music night! but was forwarned about this so was expected. Only sorry couldn't join in the 'party'-too tired!!

Review 53:Excellent food, good service, attentive staff. Stayed as part of business trip but would def. stay for a holiday. Well done Galleon for good old fashioned service-not seen very often today.

Review 54:The room was a bit dated, the over bed reading lights flickered so were unusable. We had just been in another hotel down the coast that was 20% cheaper and better all round.

Review 55:Location is very good. The Staff excellent. The room was very clean and quite adequate. Breakfast was great.

Review 56:Nothing to do with The Galleon but the car parking charges in Fowey are expensive.

Review 57:Everything from when you arrive until you leave. The staff are very helpful, the room is spotless and has coffee/tea facilities, food plentiful and great value for money. Atmosphere is relaxed with all different age groups and there are lovely views across the river.

Review 58:Room had no view of the estuary, which was the main reason we had booked in there, and the lighting in the room was too dark for reading.

Review 59:Great location, excellent copious breakfast, very friendly staff

Review 60:Rooms could do with an update, seem to be stuck in the eighties. Shower not good enough for today's demanding customers.

Review 61:Location is excellent, you cannot beat this place for its central location in the town. Cleanliness in our room. Pub downstairs makes it perfect if you want to stay on-site. Breakfast plentiful. Meals in the evening likewise and good value.

Review 62:Bedroom above smoking area so noisy at times Bedroom very warm

Review 63:Breakfast was plentiful Staff were helpful Facilities were good Supper food was good

Review 64:The room was very warm despite not having the radiator on, so I had to leave the window open at night and the church bells chimed every 15 mins! The fan in the bathroom was very noisy.

Review 65:Location, nice bar, friendly staff.

Review 66:Excellent value for money - the rooms are basic but very clean with everything you need and a comfy bed. The pub is used by the locals as well as tourists so it has a nice atmosphere - easy to walk to the local shops and restaurants but we found the home cooked food as nice at the pub and a great price so we were happy to stay there. Staff are always warm and welcoming. Would definitely recommend staying.

Review 67:Waterfront location. Huge tasty breakfast. The honesty of the room descriptions on their site. We had a room overlooking the courtyard which had the potential to be noisy but the double glazed windows did their job. Rooms are clean and bed was very comfy. Would definitely stay here again.

Review 68:We could not stay longer.

Review 69:Very warm welcome and we had to leave a day early due to car problems and they were extremely helpful and considerate of our situation, cant wait to stay again, but may take the train.

Review 70:As long as you aware of the lack of parking this is not really a problem. We parked overnight for £1.20 in the short stay just a few yards down the road and then popped out at 9am the next morning to put some extra money on.

Review 71:The staff were lovely, the breakfast was great and the room had everything we needed for one night

Review 72:It was very noisy being over the main bar and restaurant area. also smoke filtered in from outside so the room smelt as though someone had been smoking in there. also, parking a real nightmare. if one is staying in a hotel they should assist!

Review 73:Being right in the town and access to everything you could not fault.

Review 74:Having to park so far away from the hotel, but probably needed the exercise after eating all those wonderful meals!

Review 75:Hotel on waters edge in beautiful part of Cornwall. Staff very friendly & accommodating, nothing was too much trouble. Lovely rooms clean & comfortable. Food was superb, although my appetite didn't do it justice.

Review 76:Nothing.

Review 77:Comfortable room. Good to have separate access. Although there is no parking available at the Inn we managed the situation without a problem. It was great to be right in the middle of Fowey.

Review 78:The view from the room was great. The room itself was comfortable The full English breakfast was delicious and the bar food was also good . The staff were all pleasant and helpful

Review 79:Great little place in the perfect location. We were only in Fowey for an afternoon/evening but saw nothing negative. Staff were friendly, rooms were good(River view is a must) and breakfast was great. If I ever visit Fowey again I will definitely look at The Galleon first.

Review 80:Could be noisy not helped by the close proximity of the church clock striking every quarter of an hour, even during the night!

Review 81:Comfortable bed, good bed linen & plenty of lovely towels. Good bathroom & powerful shower. Helpful caring staff. Delicious breakfasts & fantastic river views. Air conditioning

Review 82:The staff were very friendly always had a smile
