Reviews for The Westleigh Hotel

Review 1:The noise all night from the local drag strip outside the place, breakfast served from 8AM and didn't want to arrange anything earlier, I'd left before 8AM for work, found a Maccy Ds though, saved the day.

Review 2:Booked last minute while in Bradford, It was a pub, room was clean and tidy,

Review 3:The music and people of the pub prevented me from sleeping on some nights. There was no fridge in the room!! :( The bed was slightly uncomfortable. The mornings were too hot in the room from the central heating. The shower's water temperature was hard to control. The 2 separate taps of the sink. Very dim lighting.

Review 4:The friendly staff The Big bedroom The warmth of the rooms The pub The food services 24/7 The size of the hotel which makes it very cosy The hotel was not too far from the university and the center and was still in a quiet neighbourhood.

Review 5:No sink plug or bath plug and some lads try to break in my van in the night by damaging the locks was not happy . And on Tuesday night is karaoke nite til 1am got no sleep very loud noise not stop there again Dave.

Review 6:The radiator valve was faulty, therefore there was no heating. The beds were uncomfortable. My evening meal of surf and turf made me ill, I was up all night with stomach cramps. There was no electric in the morning on our top floor, so it was a case of bumping around in the cold and dark, and I was unable to have a shower

Review 7:Nothing

Review 8:No hot water for the bath and very loud noise from the pub at night. The breakfast area smelled like bleach after a morning cleaning.

Review 9:Staff were nice and friendly.

Review 10:The Family room was very cold...Call night porter a few times to ask for heating for that room to be turn on. But it didn't happen...asked for a fan heater. But no one came. No response

Review 11:The Public entry areas of carpet was soiled which gives a wrong 1st impression The rooms were comfortable and clean....Breakfast was good....

Review 12:Cold bathroom which seen better days but clean, worn furniture in the room and flaky wallpaper on the ceiling

Review 13:The breakfast was good, new carpet in the room, crispy bedsheets, close to Bradford University, friendly helpful staff

Review 14:Extremely dirt and crumbling. In the picture they show you the entrance of the pub, but the entrance of the hotel is a dirty small door on the back. Stairs, walls, carpets, everything was covered with dust that affected our breathing. There was some food remaining on the window, and one of the curtains couldn't move so the sunlight entered the room in the morning very early. The bathroom was a nightmare: we couldn't even have a shower, the flush of the toilet was broken and water never stopped to run. One of the bed was broken. The tv-set couldn't read the USB hard disk. There was one single wardrobe for five people.

Review 15:It was near the city center (but in a very poor and multi-ethnic neighborhood), next to many places where to eat something. It had free parking inside. It had good wifi connection. Breakfast was quite good.

Review 16:Badly in need of refurbishment in rooms and public parts. Bedroom had hole in ceiling and a wall patched up with hardboard. Dirty hand prints on loft entrance. Light above bed and bathroom extractor fan not working. Black rot in bathroom.

Review 17:Room clean with comfortable bed. Good breakfast & friendly staff. In room hot drinks provided.

Review 18:No bedside lamp, no bin in bathroom, no curtains just blinds, bed v hard. I had a room with no shower and there was no wall hanger for tap shower.

Review 19:Very close to course I was attending, free wifi, breakfast included which included a hot breakfast option.

Review 20:Worst experience ever had. Staff was drunk and not friendly while cheking in. Rooms are very old with damp & smelly.

Review 21:Close to university but there are lot other hotels close to university.

Review 22:No fresh coffee, only powdered unknown brand Wasps nest outside window in room 14 - had to keep window closed NO water pressure at all As soon as cold tap slightly turned on - all hot water goes away. Only option was a bath. Room door often banging shut on its own due to the suction for the fire/exit being opened. Wardrobe with a really bad smell inside, so didn't use it. Water pouting noise after running through so loud it's like someone was in my room pouring water into a bucket, this was in the bathroom. Think there was a toilet roll holder before but this was gone. Hars that weren't mine in the bath.

Review 23:Breakfast was lovely Room was spacious Staff were friendly

Review 24:Grubby, dark and dismal room in dire need of updating. No shower, only a showerhead next to bath taps. No decent lighting. Window opened far too wide in top floor family room so health and safety risk for children! Pillows were paper thin.

Review 25:Location Young chap who checked us in was very friendly and welcoming Room was warm enough

Review 26:the bathrooms let down the overall quality of the accommodation - this time our bathroom had a broken bath panel, holes in the wall and the shower didn't work too well. Its a small compromise as everything else is wonderful, just wish they'd sort the bathrooms out!

Review 27:We come back every year as its a perfect location for the event we attend at the University. Friendly staff, good cheap food, made to feel welcome.

Review 28:price - for the quality of the room and facilities I thought this was too high.

Review 29:The staff were friendly and helpful. The location was perfect for my needs. Parking spaces were available.

Review 30:Needs little improvements : Proper shower unit with water temperature remaining consistent while shower being taken, Toilet roll holder attached to wall. Windows didn't open. Bigger bed Needed to be redecorated / new carpets needed.

Review 31:Spacious room Coffee and Tea made available Despite party in bar, room was quiet

Review 32:we had two rooms, one was nice and updated, the second room was smelly, shower did not work, breakfast would be nice

Review 33:part of the hotel is renovated and nice, other part is old, smelly and run down

Review 34:Traffic noise as it was hot the windows were open but it was fine when they were shut

Review 35:Friendly staff very helpful, the breakfast and the meals from the menu were home cooked and lovely

Review 36:Mould covered bathroom, worn out decor, breakfast in the pub area, cheap sausages.

Review 37:Staff, free wi-fi, parking, nice Victorian building, 10 mins walking distance to Bradford centre.

Review 38:I had to leave at the end of my stay!

Review 39:Amazing staff who go out their way for you. Superb location. Wifi is fast and efficient. Rooms are comfy and homely.

Review 40:cobwebs and condensation mould on walls, ceiling and sealant is not an attractive look. I was really poorly with a cold virus so didn't actually manage to sleep - hence no comment on the comfort of the bed for sleeping! Strong smell of bleach in bar when eating breakfast.

Review 41:Cheery staff and big breakfast!

Review 42:Cleanliness,needs updating fully as mould was in the bathroom,so asked for room change, which at first were all taken, however on complaining more we got a room change, which was ok for one night however we booked for two only stayed for one as were not happy with it at all, noise from slamming doors at funny times, the dated rooms with standard things in it.

Review 43:The beds were comfy that's about it.. Location was good.

Review 44:Very good accommodation. We loved staying there. The hostel has a good bar. The rooms are very nice and well equipped. At the reception they could help us find a British bar. WiFi was free and they provided plenty of WiFi keys.

Review 45:The hotel is ideally situated for Bradford city centre. The rooms are pleasantly decorated, the beds comfortable and the breakfasts good value for money.

Review 46:They did not know we were booked in and only had a double room for 4 they said they had shut for winter!!so 5 of us were cramped in 2 beds I asked for a discount and they said no !!

Review 47:The bar pool area food and entertdinment great can not fault

Review 48:Great potential but the decor is very stale and poor as are the carpets etc. The beds were very soft.

Review 49:The staff were friendly, the room was good, clean and the breakfasts were fine.

Review 50:No elevator (I believe), I had to drag my 15kg-trolley on the stairs until the 2nd floor. Bathroom sink with separate faucets - I heard it's a peculiarity of the UK, but it was quite uncomfortable since the hot water became too warm. Entertainment and music on the night should be played at a lower volume, otherwise you may struggle to falling asleep even if wearing earplugs.

Review 51:Practical location. Friendly and supportive staff, both for breakfast and housekeeping. Nice room and comfortable bed. TV with a lot of channels. Pretty silent hairdryer. Amazing events such as quiz and karaoke, you can get news in advance through Westleigh's Facebook page - I regret being there only 5 days for work and too tired to join the fellowship those nights.

Review 52:The bathroom needed a refit - it was in poor condition, both due to damp and possibly someone having an argument with the door meaning the towel rail was knocked off. Also they stopped serving food at 7:30. Bad traffic meant a late arrival after this and then having to go out to find something to eat when we were really too tired to do so

Review 53:The staff were very friendly, the breakfast was one of the best I have had in a B and B. The beds were really comfy and the bedroom was very attractive

Review 54:I had no refregirator in the room! I don't know if all the other rooms were also without fridge.

Review 55:The location was very practical as I needed a place near to the Bradford university. The building style and the high roof of the room were great. The bar was quite good and an excellent place to have a dring in the evening and wach the big TV screen.

Review 56:just a small quibble but it wasn't a good start to be left waiting 30 minutes beyond check in because our room wasn't ready - this was despite them knowing we were dining in the pub for the past couple of hours and that we were going to an event that afternoon, so was a little stressed that other people were allocated rooms before us with us left to wait around.

Review 57:no nonsense attitude but friendly, good food served in the pub, cosy room albeit a little shabby at the seams - its not 5* accommodation but you get what you pay for! Ample free parking and located close to the University.

Review 58:The only thing i can fault them on is that the cleaning staff went round quite early and where rather loud :[ which as we where in town to attend a festival which went on till quite late at night wasn't ideal but other than that not a single complaint :)

Review 59:Easy going, warm, inviting atmosphere, very eager to please staff. Instantly felt very comfortable and made myself right at home.

Review 60:The noise! Good god, the noise. Aside from a Sunday night when it ended a little earlier, our beds would be bouncing across the floor to music from the bar downstairs. A previous reviewer says that you can't hear it upstairs. This is true, but you can really feel it! Absolutely no sleep was obtained on these nights, and we felt awful in the morning. Way too awful to go down for breakfast. As there were four of us, each morning we were too dead to go down to eat, we wasted £24. The beds were a random assortment of too hard, too soft, or just plain broken. Half of my fiancé's bed (yes, even though we asked for two double beds, we were given four singles) was essentially half the height of the other half due to a broken base. The bathrooms were also fitted with "Saniflo Macerators". This meant that any running water in the bathroom would result in half a second of a deafening grinding noise every three seconds or so. So forget going to the bathroom in the middle of the night unless you don't flush or wash your hands.

Review 61:The location is very close to the university - which, if you're going to a particular music festival based there, or any other reason for that matter, is absolutely perfect. The staff are very friendly, and can't do enough for you. Not once were we told "I'm sorry but we can't...". They really bent over backwards. Lovely people.

Review 62:The hotel is in need a serious update, which appeared to be part-way through when we stayed. It needs to be modernised and tidied up. We also has a shower which wouldn't turn off and mold in the bathroom. It's a shame because the heart of the hotel is great, but the aesthetics were lacking.

Review 63:The service and food was wonderful. We were extremely pleased with both. The staff were friendly and attentive, always trying to help and deliver a great service. The food was exceptional and we were surprised by the more than reasonable pricing. Overall, the atmosphere in the hotel was lovely.

Review 64:Lots of stairs up to our room and I didn't see a lift, this wasn't a problem for us, but could be for less able bodied. Bathroom, whilst clean was in need of updating, however, there was a sign up stating refurbishments were going on, so hopefully room 12 will get new bathroom

Review 65:We stayed 1 night as a trip down memory lane, I'd been in college in Bradford number of years ago. Hotel was in a great location for this purpose, near enough to walk into city centre. Room was clean and comfortable, and we very quiet on the floor we were on. We didn't have breakfast, purely because we slept late and we had places to see. Pleasant staff. Excellent value for money

Review 66:Me and brother had only one night to stay and we both enjoyed our visit as the hotel's location is at the perfect centre point of Bradford. The parking facilities are adequate and the staff are really nice and make you feel comfortable. Our twin room was just perfect and comfortable as was our charming breakfast served by friendly(and cuddly, lol)staff. I sincerely hope to return on my next visit.

Review 67:I couldn't stay any longer, due to work commitments!

Review 68:Location, very comfortable bed, nice deep bath, didn't get to use other facilities but they were all on offer and I was fortunate enough to check in early.

Review 69:didn't find any fault whatsoever

Review 70:First class. Food excellent value both breakfast and evening meal..portions were huge. Ideal for the university and they even showed the university degree awards ceremony on the big . recommended to any prospective university parents...and for that matter any traveler to that area of Bradford.

Review 71:Breakfast advertised as starting at 0700,didn't happen for the 2 days we stayed there,in fact no breakfast tables were prepared on the Saturday morning and no sign of staff,Sunday same again.Rooms although clean require a bit of TLC e.g. sink broken, damp on walls,no toilet holder the list is endless and my travel companions remarked on other little faults in their rooms.
